Seems to premiere BBC america going to HD
on 7/26 Doctor Who:Planet of the dead will air in HD
(is this a reairing or a new special?)
New for America. Was released back in April in the UK.
It seems America will get the new Torchwood specials just a few weeks after they air over here as well
Ok! So I decided to treat myself for my birthday with the first season of Dr. Who with I think his name is Christopher Eccleston and the companion is Rose. I was expecting a fun time but dear god did I underestimate it. I LOVE this series. Excellent humor, story lines and creativity. I lament a bit that I know that other actors will eventually be playing the Doctor because I think Eccleston is great. I've also heard Tom Baker was excellent but I'll prolly not be able to see any of that. Thanks for the suggestion guys. Totally digging this.

screw the newer ones or not getting into Tom Baker.
Get into as much classic who as you can.
I suggest the Patrick Troughton B&W era.
My main problem I've had with the older stuff is honestly finding it. I'm in America so automatically finding some of the stuff is problematic. Many of the older episodes on dvd that I've seen are like 1 episode per a 20 dollar dvd. Something I kinda can't afford. I like the new stuff its really enjoyable although hopefully some day I can check out the older stuff.
Well Children of Earth was Fantastic, American Fans, be ready, there is SO much darkness in it, even though it was on after watershed, I was shocked. And I hope Torchwood (the show will continue)
! I hope the Doctor influences the Captain to return to Cardiff & Torchwood & rebuild a team since now the rift is open & ungaurded …
anyone else picked up the new dvd for 'The War Games'?
Absoloutley fantastic. One of the best Doctor Who stories ever made
Picked it up the other day. Really Really enjoyed it loads. Miles better than the shit that was Delta and the Bannermen a few weeks ago.
Oh christ I havent made it past episode one yet.
Ken Dodd was just instafail.
Would definately rate The War Games as one of the best Who stories of all time though. Absoloutley loved how scary and daunting the Time Lords were in that one rather than the camp and farcical characters they became in the eighties.
The only thing that saves Delta is the old guy who runs the hotel. I'm sure I've seen him in something else.
War Games IS a very good story. Definitaly one of the best although all of the 2nd Doctor eps on DVD thus far are brilliant. Far better than The rescue and The Romans which we got earlier. I think those two (and Vengeance from Varos) are the only stories I've NEVER been able to finish watching XD
got a recon of Evil of The Daleks and The Faceless Ones which are fantastic. Thats definately up there with The War Games.
Well Guys, Filming starts late in the week/start of next week.
So, we should be seeing some Pics of Matt in Costume around then.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear …
Well, there goes Cosplay Plans for 2010 ...
Wow thats just so…..........dull. Probably the plainest we've had since 1st Doctor.
Wow thats just so…..........dull. Probably the plainest we've had since 1st Doctor.
Indeed, the majority of Gallifrey Base love it, and I can't understand how,
It looks horrible. Anyway, lots of Spoilers & a few more (better) photos are on the net of MS in the costume.
! River Song will be returning in Series Five, as
! Alex Kingston was seen filming on a beach with MS & KG & The Crew, etc .. there were sightings & are photos & a confirmation of the actress returning to prove it, etc …
Although she could be playing a different character altogether, but I doubt it.
Also, there's a new prop for the TARDIS !
More Hartnell-Like with the St. John Ambulance Sticker & White Windows !
(The Nerds at Gallifrey Base are going wild over this!)
And there's more to come, from Scooty's Set Report on its way later.
And also, please remember, this is DAY ONE of a NINE MONTHS SHOOT.
EXPECT LOTS & LOTS MORE SPOILERS TO COME
At least he didn't rip off Tennant's look.
Why would he? As far as I'm aware no two Doctor's outfit has been identical so.
At least he didn't rip off Tennant's look.
No, he went for Troughton Instead …
Btw, Better Image of Him in his Doctor Garb
(Caution, cotains Braces)
!
He looks like a total goober. :/
He looks like a total goober. :/
You'd be surprised how many of the Fans love it,
I Can't see how they do. And in the politest way possible,
I think most of them are the 'old' fans of the show from like back in the 60s
And, to be honest, their fashion sense & what they consider to be cool
isn't really all that it should be. People actually prefer this to Tennant's,
his coat was kickass & now we've got a nerd with Braces & waist-length trousers …
I'd be standing proud to give a presentation on Doctor WHo to my class with tennant as the Doctor, but Matt Smith, no, he just looks awful, and it's a pity, because I had so much faith in him from the very beginning, then I saw his costume ...
I was put off by him as soon as I saw him revealed on that one confidential episode.

This is what annoys me so much. People bashed Tennant from when they first saw him. People Bashed Paul McGann and Eccleston too. From what I hear they also bashed Tom Baker who became arguably the greatest.
Its not terrible. Its just kinda dull. Before you bash him wait untill you see him act. This is like saying the next Mugiwara is bad despite not seeing them yet.
I'm not bashing his acting talent, seeing as how I've never actually seen him in anything.
I'm just saying that he looks like a total goober, because… he seriously does. :/

What he means is that we should give him a chance & wait to see if things get better over time.
Smith, to be fair, is a pretty under-rated actor, just because he's been in so few things, although he is pretty good, in some of the stuff he's done.
You're right he does look like a nerd, but the question is, when it comes to the actual series, will he be able to pull it off & make us happy he's dressed like a Nerd ?
Only time will tell, ironic, isn't it ?
the new companion hasn't made a good impression yet
don't like smith's clothes but that's not up to him
when isit gonna start again?
To be honest I'm not getting my hopes up about the new doctor. I was that way with Tennant and well, look how awesome he turned out to be. I want this new guy to really surprise me. His companion looks rather cute.
Well more spoilers !
! in Series 5, the River Song, Beach Episodes filmed included an alien craft crashing & Army troops surrounding it, River appeared in a block flowing dress with long her, but in a different scene she also was dressed in Kahki with Hancuffs (that's where she got them!) on her.
! And it clearly said on the craft Byzantium …. River Song asked the Doctor in Silence in the Library "Have we done the Crash of the Byzantium yet?"
! Moffat clearly wanted Tenannt to stay for this episode as he tried to make it clear that River was in love with 10, but I guess he's probably filled in all the plot-holes & made it perfectly workable now.
Also, I've got a source in Stcoop who has posted some reliable info about the story from the last special into Series 5, but I won't post it here, since it might not be true.
For those of you who don't know, (In The Remaining Specials)
! The Timelords are coming back …
It's certain, but it's unknown if they're making a Physical appearance ..
! Apparently Ten, in his last special, has some weird trippy regeneration wtih Dream/nightmare sequences so people think they could just be appearing in flashbacks or nightmares of his ..
! However it (Gallifrey) was said to be returning through the dark, so people think
that they WILL make a physical appearance.
ALSO - IMPORTANT NEWS - YOU'LL HATE IT, YOU WILL, I DID …
Series 5 ? What's that ?
The Moffat (not a reboot) is rebranding Series 5 as Series 1 !!!
It was at first thought this would only be for internal production & documentation
by the Bee, but apparently DWM has confirmed that in promotional material &
production it will be titled as Seris One - There's been an Uproar from the Fans !
So, we've got Series (Seasons) 1-26, then The Movie, Then Series 1-4, Then Series 1-
I do not like that last part at all, Series 1 so soon after Series 1, urgh, I hope they
Change their mind & realise how stupid an idea that is to retitle it to Series One !
Also, the Doc's New Sonic Screwdriver has been spotted, google about for it,
if you want it, I don't have the link at the moment, try Gallifrey Base for pics ...
oh gosh, I got goosebumps after reading that second spoiler. That actually kinda makes me excited for the this upcoming series.
Dunno if any of you guys are intersted but DWM over here is doing an offer for a FREE 3rd Doctor audio story to download. just go to www.bigfinish.com/dwm and when prompted for a code, enter 01795
Aint listened to it yet but on the whole the companion Chronicles are pretty awesome so I'm looking forward to it.
oh gosh, I got goosebumps after reading that second spoiler. That actually kinda makes me excited for the this upcoming series.
Oh, Sorry Omnichild - My Bad !
(I've fixed it now)
The Timelords are returning for The Last few specials this year,
Which can be caught at Christmas & the following days after.
Timothy Dalton (Yes! That's right the WELSH James Bond, Woohoo!)
Has been confirmed to be playing their 'leader of sorts' after being seen in a Timelord Costume from a picture taken with David Tennant and John Simm …
So Master's coming back & Time Lords (possibly Gallifrey too)
And the TARDIS get blown up & he then I assume grows a new one, which is basically like the old one, but looks a bit different (due to a new prop being ordered by Steven Moffat) from a piece of the old TARDIS, or a popular theory is that Ten & the TARDIS regenerate TOGETHER ...
Also, with all this info, we're still not quite sure as to whether the Timelords will be making a Physical appearance or an appearance in one of Ten's supposed Trippy Regeneration Nightmares ...
Transcript of the Comic Con spoilers and panel
@io9.com:
We saw two teaser trailers for David Tennant's very final episodes as the time-traveling hero of Doctor Who, and they revealed some dark times ahead for our Time Lord, including a menacing figure in a hoodie. Spoilers in the TARDIS! First we saw a trailer for "Planet Of The Dead," the desert planet epic that premieres tonight at 8:00 on BBC America — complete and unedited.
We also saw a trailer for "Waters Of Mars," the following story, which looks to be considerably darker.
We see images of a Martian base, with lots of somewhat primitive Earth tech including flashing buttons. The base is sort of cross-shaped, with modules sticking out at various points. The Doctor says, "Certain moments in time are fixed. Everything else is in flux. Anything can happen. But there are certain moments that must stand." We see images of the people in the Mars base going about their business, and then the weird water zombie thing starts, with people turning into water and getting the scabby reptilian faces. "This time and place on Mars, what happens here, must not be changed," the Doctor adds. And then we see more of the watery monster panic. And then the Doctor, in a different scene, explains that whatever this thing is, it doesn't just hide in water — it creates water. And if the humans take it back to Earth, it's all over. "Any one of us could be infected," says a blonde woman. More scenes of chaos and havoc as the base starts to fall apart. And then the Doctor stands in his orange spacesuit (from "The Satan Pit") with flames behind him. In his most dramatic voice, he says to the blonde woman, "It doesn't end here and now — because I don't hear anyone knocking, do you?" And then there are four brutal, loud knocks. And the titles say "THE WATERS OF MARS."
And then there was the trailer for Tennant's final two-parter, which appears to be called "The End Of Time":
We see the planet Earth from space, with the sun coming out behind it, and Timothy Dalton's voice purrs: "It is said that in the final days of the planet Earth, everyone had bad dreams." And then we see weird laughing faces, followed by David Tennant looking quite perturbed. We see glimpses of Wilf, Donna, Donna's mother, and an African man in a suit, all looking very serious. And there's a scary snake-faced creature. And then there's a figure in a dark hoodie lurking ominously. Dalton narrates: "He returns." We catch a glimpse of Ood Sigma, the Ood who told the Doctor his song was ending. And then the Doctor standing in the background, with the guy in a hoodie in the foreground. And then the hoodie comes off, and it's John Simm with his hair weirdly bleached! His voice comes: "My name is the Master." And then a title comes on the screen: "THE END OF TIME." And the Doctor walks forward with flames in the background, his face looking smoky and serious. And the title says "CHRISTMAS 2009." And the crowd goes wild.
The Doctor Who panel was more fun than informative, as it really should be. David Tennant had a huge standing ovation, and people in the crowd were shouting "WE LOVE YOU!!" at regular intervals. At one point, Tennant responded "We love you too. Each one of you in a slightly different, individual way. We want you to know that."
Russell T. Davies did confirm that Lucy Saxon, the Master's long-suffering wife, will be back in the final episodes, alongside Simms. And the words "He will knock four times" have a great significance.
And Tennant alluded to something bad that happens to the Doctor's jacket in one of the last scenes he shot.
Someone asked David Tennant if the new Who is a reimagining of the old show, and he responded: "It's the same show and the story continues. I'm playing the same man tht William Hartnell was playing. I just have a slghtly different wig."
Someone from the Guinness Book Of World Records presented the show with an award for being the most successful science fiction show of all time, and Davies happily accepted, making jokes about Star Trek. ""Eat that, Supernatural!" He shouted, followed by "Eat me, Supernatural — oh I didn't really say that, did I?"
Someone mentioned that John Barrowman (who plays Captain Jack Harkness) talked about stealing a few items from the Doctor Who set, and asked if Tennant had taken anything as well. Executive producer Julie Gardner quipped, "I think John Barrowman just stole things off the set so he could be strip-searched."
Tennant only has one regret about leaving the show now: "The one thing I leave the show with a great sadness about is, I didn't get to snog Bernard Cribbins. I got to snog all the other ones."
And a fan asked if Professor River Song might come back at some point, and Davies and Gardner made it clear they have nothing to do with the episodes going out in 2010 and have no clue what'll happen. But Davies added: "I think if you go online and do a little search for River Song, you might be very happy."

And it rocks man, I'm more pumped than ever !!
Lucy back too, an the Master's blonde & wearing the hoodie IN-Character !
I can't wait 'till we get to see the Simm / Dalton / End of Time Trailer …
yeah apparantly they were really enforcing the DONT FILM TRAILERS rule this year so I dont think anyone even has a Cam rip.
Still, we'll see it before long.
In other news, does anyone know when exactly Big Finish's "The Company of Friends" is meant to be coming out?
I've really been looking foward to hearing that one.
…and "An Earthly Child" but I know thats not until December atleast.

End of this month according to Amazon and Play. Big Finish site probably already has it. As will Forbidden Planet.
okay seriously why the hell do the americans get this before us this is crap!!!!
@shining:
okay seriously why the hell do the americans get this before us this is crap!!!!
Yeah I know - I really hate it when Americans get stuff before us
(like they always do!)
But to be fair, in this case I can understand it, I mean Sandiego Comic Con is a 40-year old famous venue. I'm sure if the Comic Con was in Wales, we'd all have seen it by now.
I'm afraid it's either, Be American and go, OR, Be UK/Whatever Nationality really and go.
Jonathan Ross had to go, as did loads of other celebs.
And to be fair, Americans always get delays for their Doctor Who & Torchwood,
anyway, the trailer sup on Youtube, now, (and lookin' good!)
Yeah it is looking good man christmas feels like a long time away
Should be some good stuff coming up
Oh yeah, some great stuff coming up.
Not much on the Filming front though guys.
And well, There's a rumour about Lucy Saxon if you want it :
(Obviously very much Master & Lucy Spoilerific, but only from their first appearance together !)
! She is in Jail for shooting the Master, a Jail Breakout scene ws filmed, wherein a Prison was completely blown up. It is belived that this was Lucy's Prison, and (supported by Lucy's scene in the trailer) it is believed The Master 'Re-constructs' himself on the floor of Lucy's Cell (obviously, prompting her shocked reaction you saw in the trailer "He Returns!?")
And a good THEORY about Master's L'Orealé Blonde Hair is that :
! Lucy somehow puts on the ring and some kind of Metacrysiss occurs, but there's some problem giving the Master Lucy's blonde hair, or else his essence is in the ring, you get what I mean, something like that
Possibly but I was hoping they'd kind of leave the Meta-Crisis stuff alone now.
I mean like as soon as we learnt about the Chameleon Arch, the Master had used it later that series. As soon as we learn about meta-crisis stuff, the Master uses is later in the series.
I'm not all that sold.
Still really disappointed that its going to be the Master at all though. Russel T Davies writes him all wrong and John Simm just isnt believable enough in the role. He'd probably have been a more convincing Valeyard or Morbius.
Matt Smith and the cast and crew down at Swansea are currently filming a WW1/2 Episode which was strongly believed to be either based on Nightshade, By Mark Gatiss,
or written by Mark Gatiss. Apparently set around Nazis in a war museum.
But a Dalek has been spotted on set. With a different colourscheme*
It is believed that a scientist, also seen filming on the roof of the Phycology Building,
re-invents the Daleks as a 'Super-Weapon' during the War. In this episode Amy is wearing a red top, a black leather Jacket, her hair brushed back behind her ears & let-down, and she's wearing light bluish Jeans.
For example, apparently, there'll be another 'floating head in space' opening. (Which I don't want really) And there's the Tweed and bow-tie, Hartnall TARDIS and apparently
the Diamond Logo's coming back too.
RIGHT - EXCITING NEWS.
I won't pots it directly on here, since I'm not like that, BUT
Someone reported a Genuine Spoiler on Gallifrey Base the other day.
His Friend emailed him. He got a Tour of the NEW TARDIS SET !!!
It's completely genuine and his mate got (so-far unposted) pics.
The info was removed as it was clear his mate was breaking some kind of rules,
and that he wasn't even supposed to tell anyone or take pics at all. But it has since LEAKED TO THE NET !
Search about for new TARDIS set. or more easily, look on Combom's Blog page !
The Description is awesome and apparently, we're to see more of the Inside of the TARDIS, as the Set was made 'modular' so walls and that could be re-arranged and double as other parts. And there was a corridor part made. And different coloured roundels and that !
Anyway, enough of me rambling, search about to
read the GENUINE Spoiler in it's entirety !
THREAD REVIVAL.
New logo unveiled this morning:
0wQPm1cN65w
also loads of set pics for the other side of the regeneration story:
http://lifetheuniverseandcombom.blogspot.com/2009/10/karen-gillan-filming-doctor-who-today.html
I didnt really think much before but after seeing those pics…. Karren Gillan would so get it.
I disliked the logo upon viewing it this morning. But … hmm.
And the filming with Karen in the Police garb etc, pretty hot - 11 in Ten's clothes,
is rather sad, and I think he looks a bit better than in his own costume.
As usual the spoiler dudes over at GB have most of the info for a good few of the Episodes clued out,
but I don't want to spoil anything too much. Anyway, Moffat seems to be changing too much to retro :(
Thanks for Bumping the thread Sympathy, it was getting to the point where I literally hadn't got a clue where it was.
Looks like less of a goober, though he is still a goober.
Though I'll wait until I see his actual acting before I make a final judgement.
As for the logo… ew.

A what?
As for the logo… ew.
The TARDIS DW thing will likely only be used for branding and merchandise but the logo itself isnt too bad. Better than the god awful oval logo which looked dated in 2005. Reminds me a lot of the classic Star Trek logo

Apparently, (I've heard strong rumours) the logo is going to be used on all merchendise from now on. Ie, future DVD releases of Classic Series DVDs too.
It's been suggested that the Doctor Who logo goes on the top-right of the cover, while the DW TARDIS goes on the spine of the casing.
Moffat's certainly making loads of changes. Loads.

I cant see them changing the classic DVD covers with the new logos etc, especially when theyre speeding up the release shedules and have most of the popular stuff out now.
