This is probobly my favorite series in Weekly Jump right now next to One Piece and Bobobo. The story is so original compared to some of the other manga in JUMP. It's about a boy named Tsunayoshi who has been chosen to become the worlds greatest mob boss and has to be trained by a small baby-like assasin from Italy named Reborn. Hilarity ensues whenever Reborn begins shooting Tsunayoshi with something called the "Rebirth Bullet", which kills a person and then brings them back to life as a stronger version of himself. Very surreal and yet very interesting too. I recommend it for any manga fan looking for a new good manga. It deserves a good read. Anyone else here fans of REBORN?
Katekyo Hitman REBORN! Discussion

I also Like this manga. But its so hard to get the scans for it( I only know one group that scans it.). But I like the fact that an little baby is a hitman for the mob.
-
That fact alone makes it prime shitter material. Baby hitmen…what will they come up with next?
-
That sounds…interesting. Could you please give me a link to some scans?
-
heres the link to the first 2 chapters, really would like to see the rest of the vol of be scan but it havent been scan.
-
Very interesting, nothing i've ever seen before… but babies as hitmen...
-
Hey Shinagami were do you get your Hitman REBORN! fix? Also is reborn going to be in the new Jump game for the DS?

I read it in Weekly Jump (Got a subscription from Sasuga Books.com) but i'd ratherread it scanlated. My japanese isn't the best in the world. Yes, REBORN and Tsunayoshi are going to be in Jump Super Stars. Tsuna's going to be playable and REBORN is going to be a support charchter.

Cool now am going to get the game, How much is your subcription and do you get it evey week?
-
Here is the costs on sasugabooks.com for Weekly JUMP:
Single Issue: $5.05
3 Month Subcription (12 Issues): $106.80
6 Month Subscription (24 Issues): $203.05
1 Year Subscription (51 Issues plus Summer and Winter Special Issues and The New Artist One Shots Issue): $395. 50Yes, pretty expenive I know but thats because the Shipping and Handling from japan (It's air mailed). Each issue racks up to about 450-500 pages of manga, anime news, game news, and toy news. Each issue also has a one shot from a different artist in them too. I usually get them weekly but when I get them, for some reason it's the one from the week before. (Go figure). If your strapped for cash I'd go with getting the three month subscription but if you've got $400spare lying aroung get the yearly one. I did and it burnt a hole in my wallet.
Here's the page:
Sasuga Japanese Bookstore -
Sasuga is great and it's actually a great deal for the subsrciption but the upfront payment is too much for me.
this place has 2 chapters too….here
EDIT: Shinigami the 3rd- Sasuga books works in America, therefore it takes a week for them to get it to them and then a week to get to you, therefore it is the issue from last week.
-
Eh? Why is it so much more expensive in subscriptions?
Aren't there deals for that sort of thing? -
wait, 450-500 pages?!?! About how much of that is manga? How much manga am I actually MISSING!?!? (currently reads only 4 weekly series, totalling about 80 pages)
That said, I think I might look into this one.

**There're about 20 series in it at any given time.
-
Yeah right now theres 20 of them serialized.:
One Piece
Pyuu to Fuku Jaguar
Bleach
Busou Renkin
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!
Hunter X Hunter
Death Note
Naruto
D. Gray-Man
Ichigo 100%
Bobobo-Bo-Bo-Bobo
Eyeshield 21
Mr. Fullswing
The Prince of Tennis
Kochira Kameari
Black Cat
WaqwaqTheres some others that I don't really read. These are the best ones in my opinon.
-
A single issue at a store by me is $3
-
Damn, that's fairly cheap. Any other place i've ever seen that sells single issues winds up selling them for $6 to $7 bucks. Thats why I got the subscription.
-
Read 3 chapters so far. Fairly fun, although Tsunayoshi seems to have it a bit too easy. I wanted Fircrascker boy to become a persistent enemy, not a persistent minion. Oh well, it's only been three chapters. No shonen series has ever grabbed me that fast aside from FMA or Kenshin.
-
I have been reading it in JUMP since the first chaper debuted and I have to say that you ain seen nothin' yet. It is definately going to be a big hit in JUMP and I expect anime somewhere in the near future.
-
(sorry if I wasn't to start a new Reborn topic. The other one was from last year, so..)
But yeah, I just got the new ASJ and in the back it says "REBORN! will debut in October, after it's previewed in the September issue of SHONEN JUMP."
Does this mean it'll be in the magazine starting in October, or is this when the first volume will be released? It shows a picture of the first Vol. It appears to be a Shonen Jump Advanced title.
(again, sorry if I was to post in the old topic. most communities don't like old topics to be bumped, so..)
-
No, its not going to be in the magazine.
-
Man i read the scans of it so far and i love it! I like the whole gotta build up nakama thing thats goin on. I have one question does it actually get a main story line….it seems like "hey i like you. Be part of the family" guy joins. Then again. Though been looking at japanese jump and it does seem that it actually gets more of a plot which is good...
-
Am pretty sure it does and i hear aroudn ch. 66 or 55 well, somewhere around there it gets REAL interesting.
-
From what I read in SJ while I was in Japan . . .
REBORN is a fairly solid shonen manga, but it lacked something. It didn't quite grip me, and I don't think that the fact that it's about the mafia is it. I also thought it had pacing issues and fell to the old "getting really strong in way too short a time" cliche.

agreed.
some of the things in reborn is quite amusing, though. amusing in a way that it's easy to make fun of. someone asked a random question: who's taller, gokudera or bianchi, and…
i couldn't help it. xD
-
Hee hee. I really liked Gokudera. And Reborn himself, although to be honest I like Koronero better. Kora!!!
sigh I wish I had a Bookoff near me so I could buy it cheap. Cause while I kinda want to read it from the beginning, there is no way I'm paying full price.
-
It just starts out reaaaaaaally slow with detailed character introduction and everyday lives… I didn't get hooked until it becomes Kokuyo arc.
You can read Kokuyo arc here if you don't mind skipping all those intro chapters: http://community.livejournal.com/hitman_reborn/7441.html
Now, what is our editor doing… pokes EGX We need to catch up...
(And yes, we like digging up old threads if it's not time sensitive topic...)
-
The hell does katekyo mean anyway?
-
@Cap'n:
The hell does katekyo mean anyway?
I think it means "Home-Tutor" or something.
-
the full word for "private/home tutor" is katekyoshi, but here they only use katekyo (the shi being a person indicator/suffix)
-
katei kyoushi.
katei = home
kyoushi = teacher.It's just easier to say long words shorter ^^;
Like…
What are you going to do?
What are you gonna do? -
This post is deleted!

I read in a magazine that Viz will now publish Katekyo Hitman Reborn as part of the Shonen Jump Advanced line.
It will just be called Reborn but expect it in a few months.
-
I saw some info (not really a preview) on this manga in the latest ASJ, how good is the manga? Can anyone give any sort of synopsis?
-
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!! AT LAST!!!
But 10:00a.m is way too early isn't it. The manga is violent, it has babies with machine guns/rocket launchers for god sakes.
I just hope they don't edit it like Eyeshield 21 [they changed hiruma's rocket laucher to a fireworks one].
-
Well, the story revolves around Tsuna, a not too bright, sorta wimpy guy in middle school. His Mum decides to hire Tsuna a home tutor 'Reborn', who turns out to be a deadly Mafia assassin, who also is only a small baby.
Reborn wants to recruit Tsuna to become the new head of the Vongola Mafia family or the '10th' boss. Reborn uses a variety of special weapons & methods to help train & assist Tsuna to becoming a 'made man' in his everyday life, including using the 'dying will bullet' which super amplifies a person physical condition and resolve, in order to help achieve their dying will, but it only lasts 5 minutes.
Reborn! has been in Jump for two years now, and spanned 107 chapters & 11 Volumes. Kefi is currently doing a scanlation Ch. 06-18 (We, the Fans did Ch.01-05).
Check it out, before the anime starts.
-
I'm already spread to thin between various series, sounds interesting enough to check out the anime though… altho if early time slots are any indication of impending censorship, this could be not-so-good for the manga fans eh? (I know ES21 anime was enjoyable but going back and reading the manga, manga was soooo so much better)
Also did you know Viz is releasing Reborn volume 1 I think in September/October? If I'm feeling dangerous I might pick it up then. :)
-
About damn time, I must say. Though I'm somewhat worried about the alternations that may be done if aired in the morning. And of course the beginning may be changed due the amount of individual stories involved before the true arcs begin.
-
Oh yea…. I was supposed to start working on chapter 19 sometime in June.... I should start that o.o
Anyways... >_>
Great news, great news!
I can't wait! -
Awesomenesstizzity.
I picked up the preview chapter of Reborn at Comic-Con. There was a big plus and a big minus
- Reborn still says "Ciaosu."
- Dying Will Bullet is changed to Deathperation Shot
-
I watched the first 5 episodes of ES21 and from what I saw Hiruma had a rocket launcher. (has never read ES21 tho)
-
wtf does that have to do with reborn. Even though himura is one of the coolest characters ever.
Also yay for the anime! I kinda hope the intro arc is cut down a bit >>, I hear the real arc begins at chapter 62 (thats like 30 episodes ;-;)
-
Wow, first D.Gray-Man now Katekyo. We've got a landslide of Shonen Jump series lately. (if you count Gintama)
-
Dont forget buso renkin and death note (w00t!) :D

Where did it say D Gray Man was getting a show?
BTW, I guess no one else is as upset as I am over "deathperation shot". It sounds like something Daffy Duck would say, dammit!
-
The anime will be aired from October 7 ^^
-
Wow! Lots of anime in my hit list premiering this fall, I just began reading Reborn and so far I love the manga ^^
Cant wait for it to air this all alongside Buso Renkin and Death Note ^_^
