I just suspected it would help with the rooms check due to mentioning the ivy was "velcro-like"
I was more concerned about the room check than my athletics.
I just suspected it would help with the rooms check due to mentioning the ivy was "velcro-like"
I was more concerned about the room check than my athletics.
To give further evidence of my low athletics and high craft, look back at how quickly I went for the opportunity to obtain the ivy today,
As far as I was concerned, if I didn't obtain it I was dead by tomorrow morning.
And I deliberate made reference to "forcing the box open" to make it sound like I suspected it would use athletics, when I actually expected it to use craft.
I didn't want anyone to know I was potentially vulnerable at night
I have five craft, and Buggy interpreted me trying to pick up the box as me trying to pick the box
I mean, I'm not really sure if she killed or not, hence my hesitation. There is a little suspicion sure, but not enough for me to want to lynch her. I really thought for sure that the killer was Queen, and now I'm just stumped :/
Iwould like to point out that earlier today Nami used the same "new player that doesn't understand what's going on" shtick to lie about not performing a night action.
Everyone can do one action per night. Be imaginative in your actions, you can use your attributes to think of stuff that you want to do. For example:
You can kill, which will be a battle between your stealth vs the targets athletics
You can follow someone, which will be roll of the dice on your stealth
You can try to watch, which will be a battle between your perception vs their stealth
etc.Think of what you want to do, you have 24 hours to decide.
What clarification is needed here?
Okay, then.

If Nami-chan had said that her Perception was low, then I would have been completely convinced of Snowy-girl's guilt. Now, I need to do some reviewing of the thread to collect my thoughts.
I'm digging my own grave here, again.
But how does Nami's perception even factor in here? Following another play does not take that players perception into account.
Which is why I've been so generous with my stats.
This is turning into genuine frustration and I'm tempted to just try eating these ivy gloves, voting to lynch myself, and not looking back until the game is over.
This is a possibility, but it doesn't explain why Miss Harpy's stealth was both too high for Hannyabal, yet too low for Nami.
You keep saying you know how stats work, but I don't think you do.
You understand there's an RNG element to this right?
Following is purely a stealth role. It isn't compared to the other persons stats in any way.
My stealth is 4. I can still fail a role.
Actually in the event of my imminent death I'll give my gloves to Batman, as an apology for harassing me. That way no one has to reveal anything about their stats.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Thank you for clarifying. This only helps to solidify my suspicions of Monet.
Can I ask why? What about watching me is more suspicious than following? I've already admitted to having high stealth.

Typo .
If anyone would like the ivy gloves you can request them, and I will give them away if my death looks inevitable.
Just keep in mind that requesting them will make it seem you have a lower athletics score, which could potentially be harmful if someone takes advantage of it.
I needed them because I have a magnificent athletics score of 1.
I guess I should attempt to defend myself i_n some sense_. Some of you think I have been trying to shift blame away from myself and in response I would like to point out that so far I have:
I'm not acting out of self preservation here. I have consistently admitted to things that incriminate me for the sake of increasing the available knowledge to the group.
But if Nami failed her Stealth action, why was she noticed as suspicious and not Monet, who also failed a Stealth action (follow) ?
This will make me look more suspicious, but I would rather be suspicious than establish a potentially false assumption going forward.
I have very willpower.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I forgot a word.
Killing an inactive player means better odds for the rest of us, so I'm still for lynching Queen after Bon Clay says his piece.
It's worth noting going forward that Nami, Bon Clay, and I could still have been responsible for this murder.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
(Also outside game mode: I'm very sorry about your cat Shuhan and I hope she'll be okay)
Monet. You're still on my list, mostly because we don't have any information to corroborate your story.
I understand. I just hope this doesn't interfere with our blossoming friendship.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Those who noticed something about Queen, was he acting suspicious or strange? Same question for Monet about me. Just wondering if there's any difference in terms.
After going back and checking my messages, it actually did say "strange" and not "suspicious."
Alright. With three votes on Queen, I must do this:
Unvote
I will explain more shortly.
Thank you. I was just about to ask someone to unvote.
I feel like there's still valuable information to discuss today.
Also checks out, given that Bat-boy tried to sneak behind Hannya-boy all night. Miss Harpy's Stealth lost to Nami-chan's Perception, but her Perception beat Bat-boy's Willpower.
Following is actually a pure stealth role:
You can kill, which will be a battle between your stealth vs the targets athletics
You can follow someone, which will be roll of the dice on your stealth
You can try to watch, which will be a battle between your perception vs their stealth
Also quick question Hannybal:
I…uh...who would want to? I'm starting to rethink my decisions...
Well, I'll share now. I attempted to watch Monet last night but was unsuccessful. Got too distracted by the rumbling in my tummy, couldn't concentrate on the search. Sorry everyone!
Did you follow me or watch me? I don't think watching triggers suspicion because it uses perception.
I can also confirm that I did not receive any indication she tried to steal from me.
Hannybal why did you say Batman saw Nami acting suspiciously? I can't find any posts by him stating that.
Rereading the stat descriptions, I agree with you. "Acting scummy" is a very vague phrase and I could see it being associated with stealth actions.
Although if Batman noticed Nami being suspicious, it would mean she performed a stealth action.
I’d also like to point out that Hannya-boy’s claimed watch attempt contests his Perception versus Snowy-girl’s Stealth. If we assume that Hannya-boy attempted this because he knew his Perception skill was high, then we can also surmise that the most likely reason for his attempt to have failed is that Monet has a very high Stealth skill.
We also know that it is Stealth which is used to perform night kills…
I won't lie, stealth is tied for my second highest skill.
But I believe in trying to keep the killing in broad daylight. Murder puts me at unnecessary risk.

A question for everyone: After reading through my list of suspects, what are your thoughts?
My suspects for the night kill are Queen, you, and Nami (In that order).
However, I don't really care who killed Usopp. It's useful to have some idea of who had alibis for the future, if someone develops a pattern of killing.
If you or Nami openly admitted to killing Usopp I would still vote off Queen today.
Here's everyone's accounts of last night so far:
Hannybal: Watched Monet, but failed. (Corroborated)
Batman: Followed Hannybal (Corroborated)
Nami: Did nothing (Unconfirmed)
Monet: Followed Nami, but failed (Unconfirmed)
Bon Clay: Unknown (Unconfirmed)
Queen: Unknown (Unconfirmed)
5: Monet, the Yuki-Onna
So far, no one has offered any corroboration that your night action was to follow Batman. There’s also no hard proof, yet, that your night action (whatever it was) failed. I like the way you think, Snowy girl, but I must say that you are quite high on my list of suspects for the Strawhat Sniper’s murder. If only by process of elimination. Let’s also note that she has been very vocal about not killing and also quick to point fingers at others, both of which I could see being done in an attempt to shift blame away from herself.
I did not follow Batman:
That is… unfortunate.
I also failed a follow action last night, and I suspected that you followed me but didn't trust me to corroborate you after I accused you.
I noticed you being suspicious when I woke up, so I felt I needed to confirm your innocence before corroborating you.
I think my follow action was successful though. Just the person I followed had wasted their time. But my action made me lose some stats because of exhaustion
Also, I might as well say, apparently I noticed Nami acting strange in the morning. I didn't do any action to trigger this information.
I thought you may had followed me, because I failed my attempt to follow Nami. I wasn't sure whether my attempt would have been described as walking in circles or not, and I woke up noticing that you seemed suspicious.
Everyone seems to be confused about my perspective on what happened, so I'll explain again:
Unfortunately, I was not the person he followed. So I do not have an alibi.
Try: Crafting some velcro wraps for my talons to help me climb, and velcro hand wraps for as many of the others as I can with leftover ivy
Nami, you're quite attractive and I trust in your nimble crafting abilities, but that little gem over there glows even more brightly than you do.
I'd love to! New labor laws prevent me from using prisoners to mine anymore so I haven't quite accumulated the wealth I'd like.
Labor laws are the worst! Did you know they don't even let you poison children in involuntary drug trials these days?
Try: Trading my gem for the ivy
I think my follow action was successful though. Just the person I followed had wasted their time. But my action made me lose some stats because of exhaustion

Hannyabal, once again demonstrating what that bombastrific body could do, jumps across the room to the patch. Once there he notices a bunch of dried up pieces of ivy. He dutifully collects them.
Buggy: What've you got there boy? Dry Ivy? Those things are like velcro, and are hard. Maybe someone with a high enough craft can do something with them.
Hannyabal want to trade for a glowing gem?
Although now that we do have more evidence of your innocence Batman, I would like to ask if you randomly lost a willpower point this morning.
You don't have to specify what stat you did lose if not, but it would be helpful to know if randomly lost willpower can trigger suspicious behavior.
Fine then, it was Hannyabal. Buggy roasted him quite savagely, if I may add.
That is… unfortunate.
I also failed a follow action last night, and I suspected that you followed me but didn't trust me to corroborate you after I accused you.

Snowy girl, a question for you:
Yesterday, you said that we should be willing to vote out those who aren't participating. But today, instead of voting for Queen, you've chosen to vote for Batman.
I assume that you have some solid reasoning for this… can you explain it?
Despite my early misgivings, you've grown on me Bon Clay, so I'll give you an explanation.
There's some information I would like to confirm. To do that I need answers from Batman, and my vote was merely an attempt to put pressure on him. I don't mind stating that at this point because the only possible candidates left for who he chose to follow are Nami (And she doesn't think it was her) and Queen. I expect my answer to come soon.
Another question for you, Snowy girl:
Did anything happen last night with the glowing gem?
Nope! I still have it.
Try: Showing off my glowing gem
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Actually, I'll go ahead and do this too. I would like more time to discuss things after I get my answer.
**Unvote
Vote: Extend Day**
Good to have you back Nami.
Did you happen to walk around in circles last night?
So you can have more info to make your own alibi? You're awfully tight-lipped for someone who claims to know who killed Usopp. What makes you think I did it?
You have already revealed that you followed someone walking in circles. What do you really have to gain by continuing to keep the person in question secret?
A chance to corroborate it? It doesn't matter which of you reveal the info first, you can still corroborate each other and provide alibis.
Someone falsely claiming it? Who would do that at this point? Lying about it would guarantee suspicion.
There's no purpose in keeping it secret. I, on the other hand, may be able to clear someone if you cooperate.
It's a rather specific activity I observed the person I followed doing, so I'm giving them a chance to corroborate it. Or someone else to falsely claim it was them.
Vote: Lynch SkullJoke
Wrong answer.
I'll reveal what I did last night if someone is willing to come forward and corroborate you.
First, tell me who you were following.
Good morning everyone.
It seems someone has decided, against my advice, to take the matter of killing into their own hands.
Hmm I don't like this. Killing is the way of cowards and criminals. We are better than this.
In that case, do you mind explaining why you killed Usopp?
Sorry mate, but I assumed you were trying to open it due to this quote.
Oh it's fine! I was going to try to lockpick it next anyways.
Score!! You found a potion!
Bon Clay, did youlearn about the hole before referencing it in your first post? Or did you just find a potion in the hole you made up?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Try: Using the light from the gemstone to see if I can spot the vent Usopp mentioned.
I was actually trying to pick it up just to test if it was possible for a player to keep it to themselves without opening it, but this is better
Try: Using the glowing gemstone to carefully search the walls of the room
If I can't manage to pry this open, sure.
Ack! So this is but the first room. How foolish of me to think we could all survive by just doing nothing for 2 days.
If we're meant to survive, we wouldn't want to succumb to exhaustion. And I imagine willpower will be necessary to build up. But I'm still not sure we can justify losing a whole day building footholds.
Try: opening small box
Aagh, you couldn't open it, despite your best efforts. You can try again tomorrow.
Batman, would you be willing to allow a volunteer with high athletics or craft to attempt opening the box? I believe you should be able to pass it to someone and allow them to attempt to open it. With the item being returned to you afterwards of course.
It obviously runs the risk of the item not being returned, but if someone were to refuse to return the item to you we would all know.
I suggest this because the item in question may help the group through this predicament, and if that is the case, we should retrieve it from the box as soon as possible.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Buggy: I don't think you would be able to do that… Usopp: Can't you fly, Miss Harpy?
Monet: And I am also dead, don't start with that!
My wings have been clipped.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh wait, you didn't actually retrieve the small box, did you? You went over and tried to open it.
If that is the case....
Try: Picking up small box
You ask who is this?? Well it's your favorite Buggy-sama of course, here to give you another flashy hint!!
While we have your attention little Caesar, maybe you could provide me with some clarification:
There will be day and night phases, in the day all of your actions will be communal - including lynching others, and in the night, you will be able to do things privately - including kill other people.
Is this in fact stating that all of us are capable of killing throughout the night?
I think that some of you may be forgetting precisely what our wacky host said when we arrived at the bottom of this hole. If we don't do something about our exhaustion soon, it's bound to get worse. Wouldn't it be best if we ensure that we are all in top shape to confront whatever dangers may be lurking here?
Wait! Did I imply that I was exhausted?! Stop jokin' around~~~! I feel great!
spin spin spin spin spin spin spin Try: Run up the wall to the provisions
I suppose I can agree with that. I'm in support of any attempts to retrieve the provisions that won't delay our escape.
Try: Flying up to the provisions.
I fear the consequences of attempting something so brazen, but alas, the sun beckons.
Sighs
Once again I find myself forced to work with an insufferable clown. At least I don't have to put up with it this time.
I'm not going to bother with pleasantries because unlike the rest of you, I realize we don't have the oxygen or time to spare, and I am not going to die down here.
So lets look over what we know:
The list of game mechanics:
- Every person that signs up will be required to create a character, there will be five basic parameters that you will assign points to.
- You will also select a character that you would want to roleplay as - from One Piece of course, because this is a One Piece game, and give a little back story to yourselves.
- The game will start with each one of you in the bottom of a dungeon that you will need to escape.
- There will be day and night phases, in the day all of your actions will be communal - including lynching others, and in the night, you will be able to do things privately - including kill other people.
- Your objective will be to get out alive, and everyone who does so will win regardless of the methods they choose.
- There will be NO monsters (or dragons), and you will be fighting among yourselves.
Stat descriptions:
- [PERCEPTION] will allow you to find hidden rooms and maybe items, and also see if anyone is acting "scummy" - which practically speaking would be a calculation based on your perception stat and the targets willpower stat.
- [CRAFT] will allow you to use machines or equipment. This would be the mechanism through which you will get "powers" - in Mafia lingo.
- [ATHLETICS] will allow you to reach otherwise unreachable places, and also avoid kills. Again, practically speaking this will be calculation based on the attackers stealth vs the defenders athletics.
- [STEALTH] will allow you to sneak into places without anyone else noticing, and also give you an advantage in kills.
- [WILLPOWER] will change based on your actions during the game. The more negative actions you take, the lesser your willpower and the easier it will be to pin you.
And the hints: ```
There is a limited amount of oxygen in the room. If you don't leave within two in game days, you won't survive!Everyone is already participating in the digging process. It should take you two in game days to open the way. Though, once you do, you would leave immediately, and would not be able to come back
You must choose by popular opinion if you plan to build the footholds. If you do, we will stop working on the exit route.
On the other hand, if you reach the provisions, we will regain your lost points.
There's a lot to unpack here. Lets start by taking a look between the lines and seeing what we can infer:
Everyone having willpower and stealth stats, everyone's win condition being to escape, and willpower being a stat that changes with your actions all point to not having a mafia. Really stop and think about how these mechanics work together. Perception detects if anyone is acting "scummy", not whether or not they are scum. Willpower decreases with negative actions, increasing the chance of being caught. What would a mafia that doesn't win by outnumbering the town even look like_?_ It doesn't really make sense. I know this is a very bold claim to make, but the more I think about the game mechanics at play, the more sure I am that this is the case. We're in Lord of the Flies right now. Oops all serial killers.
"In the night, you will be able to do things privately - including kill other people." - The wording here seems to imply we are all capable of killing. We will know for sure after tonight, and if it is true, it lends more credence to my first point.
This initial scenario has provided us just enough time for all of us to survive, but I doubt that will continue to be the case going forward. It seems likely that as we progress, fewer and fewer players will be able to proceed.
If my prior three statements are true:
It takes at least two days to dig out of here. I assume that means we need to dig for both of our day actions today and tomorrow. Going for the footholds means we would run out of oxygen unless we kill someone.
Takes a deep breath.
With all of that out of the way, I can begin to assess what the rest of you have managed to accomplish. If you've accomplished anything.
@Batman:
According to the clown, we just have to dig our way out of this hole and we'll all win.
Can it be that simple? With the Joker, it never is.
The provisions can help us boost perception to detect criminals among us. But it will also give them a boost.
If there are Mafia members, can't they also just win by getting out of the hole?
Bold of you to assume that it's even possible for all of us to make it out of here alive. We don't know what else awaits us in this place, but if its anything like this we can expect a race against the clock. In this room, we conveniently have just enough oxygen to make it out without a sacrifice, but that might not continue to be the case. Even in here if anyone starts to slack off or gets distracted, we may lose that luxury.
@Bon:
Some flowers may bloom, even under the harshest of conditions.
I think that if we can work together, then we might find a way to overcome both obstacles at once.
Who knows? We might even be able to see an easier way out if we get to a higher vantage point. Should we trust that the clown saw everything on the way down?
Un, Deux, TROIS!!!
kicks a foothold in the cave wall
Vote: Build Footholds
Speaking of getting distracted, what do you think you're doing? You say we all need to work together, but all you're doing is ensuring someone's demise.
If it comes down to it I don't mind dirtying my hands, but I'm not going to unnecessarily put my life at risk. I would urge all of you to actually use your heads before you go brain-dead from oxygen deprivation. Maybe then you would realize that any of us could become a scapegoat if we waste time.
I have to wonder though… if you're someone who was able to break out of Impel Down, did you really overlook this? I'm watching you Bon Clay.
@Usopp:
Oh, have you guys noticed that small vent up there? I'd climb it to check it out, but I can feel my 'Can't-climb-that-wall' disease rising up again. I'll keep looking down here, but if anybody wants to get up there, be my guest. Maybe there's useful stuff there that I can tinker with.
Hmm? Please elaborate.
Why don't you and Usopp work together to get up to that vent? My arms aren't too flexible. And while they're all distracted with the vent, I'll sneak over and check out that small box in the corner while no one's looking. And then its contents will be all mine!
Very stealthy. Mind sharing with the class?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
that was all meant to be in character but still i am very sorry if i went overboard
I'm also okay with using Discord!
I honestly chose not to kill just to cause confusion, the actual strategy came after I decided that. To be honest, I was having so much fun that if we ended up not lynching, I was going to abstain from killing again.
I was determined to not bloody my hands until the end. Had my Godfather status to uphold you see.
I was really hoping that was what happened and I applaud you for it. Although it did leave me about 90% sure you were the remaining mafia.
That was a fun read. I'm looking forward to joining next time.
Sounds like an interesting concept. I'll play.
I may do this on an external forum
! I'm having Oars flashbacks.
There's something very reassuring about returning six years later and seeing what my heart has known to be true all along:
AP mafia is still going.
I was just using it and cultists as examples. The main point of what I was trying to say is that the third party is likely a direct threat and we should be aware of potential dangers they can carry, but otherwise we shouldn't focus on them.
I still believe there is a third party, but we should mainly focus on the scum and they shouldn't be the focus of all the conversation. At the same time I belive while hunting the mafia we should stay aware of the potential threats they pose. I believe it's likely that any third parties are playing directly against the town, like cultists or a serial killer. If not it's probably something like a pacifist rather than a fool or a survivor as they could win rather easily. With third parties the biggest threat we need to be aware of is that seemingly innocent reports may not be so innocent.
Other than that I think we should just keep lynching and weeding out scum.
