Smoker
I too think he's becoming what Garp was to Roger and for now he has been a wonderful rival to Luffy. They have a very different personalities, yet they also share something. They have this strange cat and mouse game which isn't just about hating each other. Luffy has straight-out told Smoker he doesn't hate the marine and Smoker, although having a some sort of grudge, isn't totally blinded by his obsession to capture Luffy.
Also, Smoker is one of those marines who isn't mindlessly following their justice but instead does what he thinks is right. He doesn't just obey every command like a loyal dog. He actually sometimes acts downright rebellious if he doesn't agree with those "old geezers" in the government. He obviously has a sense of honor since he returned the favor when Luffy saved his life and he also refused to take credit for something he didn't do a.ka. defeating Crocodile (though in the end the WG didn't care about his opinion). He also didn't chastise Tashigi when she refused to capture the Strawhats even though she had a perfect chance. BTW I think Tashigi makes a great subordinate for him and that interaction is one of the reasons why I like Smoker.

I also really like Aokiji, Garp, Kizaru and Akainu. Oh and honorable mention for Bogart (Garp's right hand man) even though his screentime is almost non-existent. The guy just fascinates me. I hope Oda hasn't forgotten him =P. Coby and Helmeppo aren't bad either and I'm interested of their development in the future. Fullbody and Jango instead are awesome pair for the lols.

Also… another honorable mention for the filler marines Jonathan and Drake (from G8 arc). I really liked those guys. Drake was hilarious while Jonathan was very likable with his lax attitude and quick wits. I REALLY hope they would be featured in some upcoming filler again.

Whoa. I kinda like MANY of the marine characters. Though Smoker is my favorite. Aokiji would take the second place I guess but after that I can't really say the order.

Charloss… hell, ALL the world nobles Pompous evil pricks who act all high and mighty just because of their heritage. They deserve a punch, a knee to the groin, a headbutt and… heck... every imaginable punch and kick. And then I would spit in their faces as a finishing move.

Hancock
Because of that whole bitchy "I can do everything because I'm beautiful" -stuff and because her fangirling and fantasizing gets annoying. Sorry dear, sistah Thrior shall introduce you to the reality. bitchslap with the left + punch with the right

Sanji
I love Sanji (he's my favorite Mugiwara besides Luffy) but sometimes his love cook mode and overprotectiveness of the ladies reaches a point where it isn't funny anymore but annoying. Get a grip man! Sometimes you just manage to act like a sexist douche.

Aokiji
I love Aokiji and would NOT aim to hurt him. Only to have some fun with his ability. During all this stress with my studies it would be a very therapeutic feeling to get to shatter something! XD

Quoted for truth. Utterly despicable. They don't even posses any skill. They have just born to this position without doing anything and they unremorsefully abuse the power they have.
Someone like Crocodile might have done a lot of bad things but at least he earned this position by using skill, power and careful scheming. I don't know anything more despicable than some spoilet brats who know nothing of hardships of life, yet get the high position for absolutely nothing and then proceed to treat the other people like crap.

I really hope to see Gin again. I always liked that fellow. He has potential to be much more than that idiot Krieg's henchman. I don't think he would fight with the Strawhats though as he did form some sort of friendship. Maybe more like a friendly quarrel to see if he can still kick Sanji's ass. That is, if he's not just blindly following Krieg's orders anymore. I personally would like to see that his crew would have gone through some big changes… or that he has completely chosen to go his own path.

  If they need another girl, then please someone else than Hancock.

• Ace brought back to life
  I have nothing against Ace but I don't like the idea when it comes to the plot. A cheap move and takes the effectiveness of his death away.

• Oda going into character killing spree
  While I actually liked Ace's death (great storytelling), I do hope Oda doesn't make this a habbit.

• Crocodile = woman
  Idiotic theory which I don't want to see come true.

• A time skip
  If it's just a couple of days or something… fine... but if it's like years then hell no.

• Romance where strawhats are involved
  Like Luffy/Nami, Luffy/Hancock or something like that. NO!

Allright, this was one weird OP dream.

Everything started when a bunch of random characters had found their way to Helsinki which didn't look like Helsinki. Usopp and Blueno were about to start some dodgy mission which goal was to surprise Crocodile and get him re-join their gang. Even if it required violence.

So, Blueno and Usopp took a train and scorched through the city. Then they spotted Crocodile who was weeding a flower-bed (or something but that's what it looked like) and jumped out of the train. They crawled on all fours towards Crocodile and Blueno tried to catch him by surprise but failed miserably, only managing to get a serious trashing. Blueno went out cold, Usopp started bawling like a baby and Crocodile just stared at him with his expression saying: "Wut?"
But Usopp was cunning and used this to his advantage by tripping Croc who had been just standing there. Usopp then threw himself on Croc, thrust a cell phone at his face and squeaked that he must talk with some dumbass right now. I think that "dumbass" was Luffy but I'm not sure.
Croc growled ”What the fuck are you up to?” but took the phone which only said that the line was busy. Usopp was starting to consider suicide because Croc got more and more pissed but I think they finally managed to call that person since in the next moment Crocodile had decided to accept their offer.

At this part, I took over Usopp although it still was Usopp. I was just kind of borrowing his body, watching the whole thing through his eyes. Crocodile snorted and told me to start moving but I just squealed that we can’t leave Blueno. Croc looked like he could care less but went and lifted the guy over his shoulder. We then found some house where Usopp/me broke in to do some freaking undercover work but only managed to reveal himself almost immediately. I crashed into a room where a group of children were playing and they immediately started to scream when they beholded my terrifying Pinocchio face. However, one of the kid’s was involved and she called me a jackass and told me that I was in the wrong room because the guy I was trying to save was in the closet. I obeyed and there my friend was. Well, it was actually my sister who was hung up to a coat hanger by her shirt while she was still wearing it. On top of that, I left her there although I was supposed to save her.

I sneaked back to the front door and saw through some glass door that the other occupants of the house were sitting in a kitchen, eating pasta. Suddenly Crocodile floated through the kitchen (in his sand form) and stole a full meal without them noticing anything. I just huffed in jealousy and went outside. Suddenly all male occupants of the house rushed after me and started to accuse me of pedophilia. Like… wut? Usopp/me just made their kids scream because of his scary face. Usopp was about to crap his pants as usual but he still defied them by saying: ”My conscience is pure!”
To that those guys just grinned "Pedophile without remorse!” and started to threaten me with hammers saying that they won’t leave a single bone unbroken.

Suddenly Crocodile walked past us in a slouchy manner, hand in pocket, eyes half-closed, and stopped with his back turned to us. Everyone of those thugs stopped to stare at him and Usopp/me was just thinking: ”AHHHH! HELP ME DAMMIT!”
I thought/hoped Croc would kill them all but instead he just turned his coat over, looked at them and asked: ”Does this remind you of something?”
The guys just stared at him for a moment but then suddenly started to cheer like crazy and threw their hammers away. The reverse side of Croc’s coat was a pink feathered one and from this clue those guys apprarently realized that Crocodile is somehow related to Doflamingo who obviously was their greatest idol ever or something. Everyone rushed to shake hands with Croc and suddenly Doflamingo (without his coat) popped out of nowhere and sneaked up to me whispering: “That’s right!”
He wanted to shake hands with me but for some reason I didn’t want to and just stared at what the others were doing. Thugs and Crocodile sat on the ground, drinking booze and suddenly some narrator voice says: "Crocodile had always preferred wines so booze was pretty tough stuff but he was careful to not get totally wasted.”
In this part, I left Usopp’s body. Usopp decided to join their party and in the end, when he was drunk, it was revealed that during this whole stupid ordeal he had developed a major crush for Crocodile. However, I never got to see if he tried to do something about it since this is the part where I woke up =P

I like OP to be romance-free. A fine example of what happens when you inject romance into shonen is Naruto (and Bleach). It adds weirdness, not necessarily depth.

Quoted for truth. I would be upset if there suddenly was an actual romance in OP. I can ship the characters like crazy but I do that for fun and it makes it all the more interesting when there isn't any real pairings in OP. The pairing wars in Bleach forums… hoo boy facepalm.

There's a huge Smoker/Ace fanbase you know… and that IS generalization. Heck, I like yaoi but I think that Crocodile, Smoker, Mihawk etc are the sexiest males in OP.
And what comes to Smoker's character... I have always liked him. He's definitely in my Top 10.

I like the way you think ! I'm not into girly pretty boys (that's one of the reasons why I love Oda's style. Guys usually look like guys). I'm for manliness and I also prefer that they keep their characteristic traits. I for example can't stand most Severus Snape fanart since most artists make him look like some pretty male model with oily muscles and flawless flowing hair and blah blah.

Seriously, I really do enjoy hetero pairings, but it seems like most OP fanart of het couples are Strawhats pairings: Luffy/Nami, Sanji/Nami, Zoro/Robin, ect. I wouldn't mind some great het fanart of Ace, Marco, Doflamingo, Crocodile, Hawkeye, and so on, but it's just so much harder to find.

Seconded! I do enjoy some hetero pairings as well but I just don't really like any of the Strawhats pairings. I would love to see more with the guys you mentioned. I especially like Croc/Robin.

I think Krieg was cool because of the way he utilized weapons. I think his "evil" character that we all hate was necessary to help set a precedent to compare other future villains too, I liked his place in the story.

Yeah, he did serve his purpose and he was never meant to be anything big or that remarkable… but I still don't like the character =P

I totally prefer Gin too. I just found his character interesting and I liked it how he turned out to have some sense of honor and wasn't that evil after all. I also dig his fighting style.

Krieg instead… well to me he was pathetic. Some interesting tricks indeed but as a character he was a one dimensional stupid jerk who kept bullying his own crew and didn't know when to admit defeat. I'm sick of that kind of villains and was so glad when Gin finally silenced his whining with a good punch. Opinions are opinions but he wasn't even the kind of villain who I would have loved to hate and whose fight I would have looked forward to. I just wanted Luffy to one shot his ass. Kuro was an evil bastard as well and got what he deserved but I still liked the character. Krieg instead just annoyed me.

Really loved to see Dofla, Mihawk and Moria in their younger days as well. Dofla's style is win and it's interesting to see their reactions at Roger's death. Mihawk looks pretty pensive, Moria looks to be enjoying it, Buggy is bawling like a baby and Dofla just smirks...
Croc is the only one who's reaction we don't see. I'm suspecting he's showing some emotion that would be pretty out of character for him now. Guess Oda really wants to keep his past as a secret.. for now.

I think it's more to do with their DFs. You often hear this "there's no fire without smoke" -stuff associated with them.

I agree. If the new crew member is male then I would like him to be a bit more serious character. If it's female, well, I would like her to have a different personality from Nami and Robin so I think she would be more childlish and innocent. No need for another serious female. But yeah, I would like to have a more serious male in the crew since all the others are pretty goofy. Zoro's the most serious now but he certainly has his moments of idiocy as well. Not that it's a bad think. Just would like to have some less comical character for a change.

Yeah. I have really wondered that too. Since Croc once was like Luffy, carefree and optimistic and believed in dreams, he now pretty much represents what Luffy could become. I'm really curious about his past.

If Oda dropped the bomb (as unlikely as it is) and made him join, I don't think it would be permanent anyways but he could perhaps sail with them to the next island or something and then do whatever he likes. When this war ends and Luffy heads out to the sea to look for his nakama (if they aren't re-united sooner), I can totally see him asking his ID team a chance to accompany him... at least for a while. He can't do that alone either since he doesn't know how to navigate etc.

Robin is the hottest when it comes to looks. Hard to approach perhaps but her mature beauty and that certain darkness would really appeal to me if I was a guy. I really like her style.

Nami is way too… blah... she looks and acts like some yapping teen girl when Robin is a woman.

However, Perona would be the most realistic choice since her gothic style matches well with mine and she seems playful and little childlish like me... but on the other hand she seems a bit too girly. I'm a woman but I'm not afraid of bugs or other "ugly" things and all the cute girly stuff just never was that appealing to me. Heck, when I was a kid I played with dinosaur toys instead of dressing dolls up as princesses.
But maybe if I was a guy I would just like being Perona's "knight in the shining armor", saving her from "evil bugs". Haha.

You just earned some respect points from me. Rarely do I see guys being as unafraid to leave a comment like that.

Guess it's a bit different between guys and us girls. Most hetero girls I know have no problems pointing out women they consider hot/beautiful. Even though I'm not interested in women sexually I have no problems saying who I would do if I was a guy.

Mr.2… then Mr.1 and Mr.3

My vote went to Bon-chan. I liked Bon Clay from the start just because he was so exceptional and such a hilarious villain. He also has had more development than the rest of them. Befriending with the Strawhats and all that jazz.

Mr.1. I don't know but I just like his stoic attitude and he has a neat power.

Mr.3. The guy just failed so much in everything he did that I started to really like him. Useful abilities as well.

Hard choice. There are many guys I consider droolworthy but from these I gave my vote for Mihawk. The guy's royal looks, design and the way he carries himself are just really impressive and I like a bit more masculine men.
Sanji would have been my second choice. It's the suit. He just has some serious style in almost everything he does (except when he's chasing after women).

In a way yes but not that I complain about it. OP just is the one for me. Every other series I watched/read, have been pretty much forgotten after that or then they just can't keep my interest up as actively as OP does.

I have tried some other long running series too but they just can't get to OP's level. I occasionally follow Bleach but that series usually just ends up frustrating me too damn much and I'll just drop it for months, then come back to see that nothing interesting has happened. It actually used to be an okay manga but now it's just… blehh. Still, I know and even like some of the characters so I do check it sometimes out but not the same way I do with OP.

There's times when I'm less active with OP but I'll ALWAYS come back with renewed vigor and I have never just "forgotten" the series for a while. That's something any other manga/anime hasn't managed to do. Oda's style and way of telling a story just keeps me glued to the series... and it's pretty much the only one where I really like the protagonists. I usually end up disliking them and just root for the bad guys and secondary characters instead. In OP I like both the good guys and bad guys and I know that Oda doesn't treat his characters only as a cannon fodder. I love it how he doesn't dump the good old villains but makes them have comebacks in different circumstances. That's one of the things which makes OP so interesting for me. His characters and storytelling are really enjoyable. It's funny really. Even thought I know that nobody dies in OP (except in the flashbacks) I feel real concern and excitement for them. I don't even see the lack of deaths as a flaw. Unlike in Bleach where Kubo doesn't seem to be able to create any kind of tension and the only solution for that seems to be that he would make some of the good guys die. Their "war" in Bleach has been nothing but predictable and boring shinigami show off fest which just made me dislike them even more.

So yeah... I'm automatically comparing the other series to One Piece and so far none of them has got to its' level. Sometimes I have wavered a bit, "Oo this is such a great series, my new favorite" but after a while I'm once again 100% sure that One Piece is my favorite and will most likely remain so for the longest time.

There's gonna be a huge freaking family fest when they find out that Croc is WB's biological child (what? they have the same freaking eyes and brows) and then Iva is about to reveal that big secret but Croc silences him, turns to Luffy and says: "Luffy. I am you mother!"
Then everyone (except Iva and Croc) dies because of brain damage.

He has been an admiral in his past so of course he can fight.
I don't know about his current level but giving his past, he does have to know how to create some havoc.

I would take Jinbei over Hancock every day. They don't need a crew member who's just drooling after Luffy. Sanji is already a source for that kind of comedy and I really don't see a place for her in the crew.
I don't believe Jinbei will join either. That's because of their status, power, etc… but from my point of view he would be more fitting. He's a fishman and would bring something new to the crew without having too hax powers.
Still, don't really see either one of them joining.

Ugh… I don't like Halibel's release. She looks like some Sailor Moon chick to me. That aside, she definitely gets points for slicing Hitsu. I was hoping for that to happen but we'll see if it really was that bad of an injury.
Barragan's axe is cool. Suits him well.
I only hope that Stark won't betray my expectations of him. He's still my favorite espada.

Nothing =P. I have followed the series for 4 years but still haven't buyed anything.
I first thought of purchasing some manga volumes but I hate the translation in here. It just sounds… retarded and wrong in my native language.
I despise dubbed anime so I'll never buy the DVDs or anything which don't include original japanese audio.
Also... there's hardly any merchandice or anything in here where I live. I would always have to order them from Yahoo or somewhere and I just don't feel comfortable with that. It's just because of lack of experience so I guess I should some day try.
