I love the fruit and joyboy and everything that comes with it. The only problem is the underperformance, Luffy should have overwhelmed Kaido. We’re talking about joyboy here. Luffy is no longer an ordinary man, he has risen and become a legend. The legend that the WG fears.

oh for goodness sake, Kaido was clearly stronger than the four combined at the start of the fight and not to mention that big mom was at his side. Four CoC users?. There were only 3 and were CoC useless because that’s what it was vs Kaido and big mom till Luffy got upgraded to CoC coating, so in reality Kaido has only fought only one CoC user.
If Luffy was actually trolling Kaido and letting him hit him ala Majin boo, I would have no problem, that would actually be cool. The problem is that we really don’t know. We see Luffy’s blood coming out of his body after hits but he keeps trying these dumb moves that Kaido easily avoids while at the same time he’s not avoiding any of Kaido’s attacks. It’s hard to enjoy the fight because you really don’t know what’s happening.
Are we close to an ending?. The supporting storylines outside of the fight say Yes, but the fight itself says I don’t think so, I don’t know, don’t ask me.
Who’s winning?. It seems to be Kaido but I don’t know. Luffy is a wildly Coyote. He’s clearly losing but he keeps coming back on the next scene kind of unfazed. I’m waiting for Luffy to say “hey Kaido” and for Kaido to respond “ hey Strawhats” just as they’re checking in their work hours sheet. Anybody remembers that cartoon scene of the wolf or coyote and the sheep dog checking in for work?.
Shanks didn't steal the fruit from Who's Who because the fruit willed it but because Shanks willed it.

Maybe the fruit somehow made it easier for shanks to know where it was so it can be stolen. Maybe the fruit put in the desire in Luffy to eat it (made him feel hungry). And how the heck did Luffy open that chest, wasn’t closed with a lock?.
He doesn't have to show it, but it would be a great escalation tool at the moment given that Luffy seems to have caught up to him right now.
It would escalate things no doubt. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Kaido summoning a giant storm and dragons and lightning all around vs giant Luffy both flying in the air while Momo who’s taken control of oni tries to land it. I’m saying that maybe the battle between Kaido and Luffy needs to leave Oni. Everything in Oni is basically resolved by now, Momo just needs to control it and land it. Things with Kaido vs Luffy seems to be in its last leg but yeah I wouldn’t mind a big show just before it ends. I want a better performance from giant Luffy than the one we got. I’m really desperate for the aftermath because the world is gonna change after
Kaido has to show his awakened form as, unlike Big Mom, his role in the story should be over after Wano. Very doubtful that Blackbeard takes Kaido's fruit. What would be the point? Up his threat level? If that's the case, the best thing that could happen is him acquiring an ancient weapon.
How do you know he hasn’t shown his awakening, he has to announce it?. And no I don’t think he has to show it, he has shown to be OP already and so has Big Mom. Did Whitebeard show his awakening?. We don’t know, he probably did. The thing is that he showed that he was op just like the other 2 emperors.
On Blackbeard third fruit, that’s his thing, trying to get stronger which he would with Kaido’s or another third fruit, so yes there’s a big point to it, besides everybody has theorized that he will get a third fruit.
I really don’t care much whether Kaido shows an awakening or if he has shown it, I want the story to move forward and to end. But I’m still very intrigued on how this will end whether if Blackbeard the coward is gonna show up and kill a weakened Kaido to take the fruit or how Luffy is gonna finish Kaido. Overall my greatest interest is the aftermath, the party, the talks of the accomplishment, THE REACTION AROUND THE WORLD.
I wonder if Wano's finale will put Joy Boy in any position to aliviate or give some cathatic sense to the people who ate the discarted pieces of Smiles and became pleasures unwillingly…
What if joyboy has the power to cure them. Surely if you have the power to make people laugh, you could have the power to make them stop. Maybe Marco, law and chopper could help out too.
Love the chapter, love joyboy storyline. Love Luffy’s new fruit powers. The last two chapter have been two of the best ever for me.
Only thing I didn’t like about the chapter was this game of thrones phrase. C’mon Oda, c’mon, don’t bring crap quotes from crap shows into your great story.
Also I could use more information on the gorosei reaction to Luffy’s fruit. It seems to me that they didn’t know all the details about the gum gum fruit and just when Zunesha showed up, somebody, probably Im gave them information that they didn’t know and they started scrambling quickly. I would like to know more about this.
Love the chapter and the story so far. Momo needed a kick in the head. I guess he still thinks like a child. Thanks for Yamato, he clearly understands the situation. They’re gonna die anyways, at least die fighting for life and not as broken slave.
Luffy joyboy was a shock but a great shock. The question here is, is joyboy the title of the power just like Shiragoshi, a reincarnation, a little bit of both, what is gonna happen here?.

What if the fruit conversation and the kill Strawhats order are unrelated?.
It could be that they might have been talking about toki or Tama for the fruit and the kill Luffy order is because something else can be awakened when two top class advanced king haki users are clashing. But then again why drop that little bit of information of the gomu gomu being guarded by the world’s top agents and being stolen, yeah that kind of hampers the unrelated part.
If it’s Luffy’s fruit, you gotta wonder what shanks knew?.
Maybe Shanks got to Laugh tell and read the history and kept quiet.
He was probably in the East Blue Sea looking for the chosen one who he thought would be Roger’s son.
He probably believes in fate and was waiting for fate to somehow intervene and help him find Roger’s son to feed him the fruit and Fate indeed intervened but not in the way he thought but clearing his mission nonetheless and he understood it.
But the Germa thing, how invincible it is because they weren’t owning at WCI, actually they were being owned at least in the first skirmish. Didn’t Kata handle the alpha brother pretty easy, looked like he was choking a chicken.

God forbid a character has an emotional moment and is unable to think straight when something shocking that is deemed as negative by the character happened to him. Easy for the readers, looking from the outside as spectators, to say "Just focus on the battle, dude". You said "can't you focus on the battle", right? Try to think. Taking into consideration his past circumstances, CAN HE, after that?
I swear, some portion of the fanbase really think that characters are just not allowed to have emotions and some realistic approach anymore, they just have to be a "cool action figure" 24/7.
Look maybe I’m being a bit harsh but people are in danger and they need all the strength they can get and Sanji is a good strength. He also destroyed STEALTH BLACK, you think I’m gonna go easy on him after that?. HE DESTROYED STEALTH BLACK, coolest of all the suits. In one piece there are a few treasures that have an intangible power that can mesmerize even the blind, STEALTH BLACK was such a treasure. But seriously, Sanji just should have been acceptable of a lucky break at the most opportune moment and dealt with the consequences later.

Oh but he does know because he left her fighting a very dangerous enemy. He might not know the current situation but he knows that she could be struggling as there are many of the allies. Zoro got a sword that not only zaps his energy but also he can’t control how much it cuts. Did Zoro said, you know what, I’m going to run away from the battle or postpone it till I can control this power, no he didn’t and wouldn’t and I’m talking before the battle here not in the heat of it. Luffy wouldn’t do that either. Sanji needs to understand priorities, people are dependent on him. You are in the middle of a battle, grow up and stop brooding and acting crazy and do what must be done for the crew safety.

He did it after wasting time and destroyed a powerful power up that could have speeded this battle so he could quickly go and rescue Robin.
Here’s my problem with Sanji, ok he has an identity crisis but you’re in the middle of a life and death battle, can’t you focus on the battle, use these power ups to help yourself and your friends and then deal with your identity crisis afterwards?. Right now Robin is in terrible danger and bastard Sanji is wasting time on this Id crisis. Who knows what could happen to Robin if she gets caught and a big blame would go to Sanji if. Sanji has become very unreliable and I’m very much counting WCI aside from now. Zoro has always been Luffy’s right hand and you know why is that, well you know many different reasons tangible and intangible that I don’t care to explain. The thought that this confused troublemaker wanted to steal Zoro’s moment as Luffy’s right hand on the Kuma incident, is irritating. This unreliable confused Simp.

These stupid CP0s, do they have more firepower than we think or are they just counting like apoo on whoever is left standing will be too weak defend themselves?. They seem pretty confident on bringing incoming comeuppance to everyone including the Emperors.
Love the ALL OUT WAR feeling of the chapter and the schemers doing the scheming on the side. There are three different Scheming sides right now and it adds in a good way to the story right now. I don’t know what’s CP0 Endgame here but they got government operatives waiting outside of wano and from this chapter it seems like they’re planning to bring down the yonkou and everybody else in this battle.
Apoo does have a point in recognizing the winning side will be hammered at the end and easier for picking but to what end?: what does Apoo gets taking down whoever is left standing, world recognition?.
Then we have Orochi. Did orochi leave a big enough army in the capital before he went to onigashima, because if everything at Onigashima gets destroyed including the warriors, I don’t know how he thinks he’s gonna keep ruling Wano. Maybe he doesn’t care anymore, he just want to cause as much destruction as possible but he seems to still care about his life that’s for sure.
The overall feeling of the chapter feels pretty good.

I think Oda is just recognizing his lack of attention to Kid among the supernova especially when he is suppose to be one of two main rivals to Luffy from that group but it seems that Kid basically had the fate Luffy would've had he not stopped to train for 2 years having learned his lesson from Saboady and failing to save Ace; Kid basically got his ass kicked all over the New World with some minor victories and then got betrayed.
I think the first showing of that is the strawhat level showing of Killer in this recent chapter. It's quite the leap in character building and hyping the character up.
I think Kid may get some sort of power up Enies Lobby style and beat up Big Mom a bit but not definitely beat her even with Law fighting with him.
Kid will get his focus and spotlight but I think it's just a start as to establish how Oda will use him in the future.
I had several interpretations of the tower card in the spoiler thread and after reading the leak chapter and official I see it as the typical outcome we all knew was going to happen. Hawkins was extremely reliant on his tarot reading and percentages of the alliance's chances against Kaido. Oda would lap back to it more than once. So it was only a matter of time that when going back again Hawkins would be shocked to see how things took a 180 and now he's on the losing side.
I think the card just points to Kaido's downfall mainly. The theme of the old generation falling to the new has been stressed aplenty but I don't think the theme just ends with this saga. Kid and Law will play their part in beating up Big Mom but I cant see her dying here or beaten to the point she's unconscious.
I have dabbled with the new notion (not yet a theory) that Kid will kill Kaido after Luffy beats him. Making that tower card have significance to several key characters.
But do you think Kidd will get a hint of Advanced CoC?. I don’t think Oda would put him equal to Luffy in this fight and shouldn’t but maybe give him a punch or two of CoC imbued vs Big Mom?.
I don’t think Big Mom will be taken down but she will not get her way through her own strength this time. I feel like there will be a big standoff at the end between forces who are against Luffy and forces who might be pro Luffy or just don’t want the anti Luffy forces to get their way. We are talking forces that are not currently in the fight, including Big Mom( as in she will be part of these forces). Big Mom’s pirates are still out there somewhere and they’re gonna show up at some point.
I think the News will be, even if Big Mom is not taken down here, Kaido and Big Mom defeated by the new Generation, and that might be what the tarot card represents.
In regards to Hawkings, he’s a big disappointment. Him, law and Drake had my interest till before the Wano Arc, never was a fan of Kidd but I understood his character presence in relationship to Luffy. Hawkings is just a mess. He might comeback with a changed perspective but I don’t want him to. He went too deep with his tarot cards survival percentage and his kowtowing and giving up to the strongest. The new Generation was about daring and challenging the old powers and he wasn’t about that.
I completely disagree on Kidd taking Kaido’s head. I don’t see that happening. I got my own theory which I have pointed out before. If anybody is gonna actually kill Kaido, that would be Blackbeard. I think Cariboo has been working and communicating with Blackbeard this whole time and he’s been helping the strawhats by orders of Blackbeard in the hope that Kaido gets soften and injured enough so he can pull the same trick he used at marine fort.

I just don't see Kid doing it by himself. Law has remained solid and can be a great partner if one guy is taking the brunt of the beating. Just going back to his fight with Doffy he can last pretty long in a fight and has a bunch of deadly attacks.
I don't think they'll defeat Big Mom. At best stalemate or interruption that sidelines BM or changes her priorities but if in the off chance they do I think it'd have to parallel something like Rocks vs Garp and Roger even though that was a bunch of D.s fighting.
Many of us don’t want big mom to go down here and hopefully that will be the case but you got to admit, Oda is setting up Kidd for some highlights. How big those highlights will be, who knows, but the set up is there. What do you think of Hawkings card in relation to both emperors?
The question is will Oda bump up Kidd to advanced CoC during this fight with Big Mom?. Most of the chapter was about giving Kidd importance. Oda has pushed a rivalry with Luffy in this arc and has shown many panels about it thou some also includes Law. Luffy has been bumped up, and I’m very happy about it, but he got trained and Kidd was not.
I don’t think Oda will put Kidd on equal level to Luffy in this battle but maybe give Kidd a couple of CoC hits vs Big Mon in which he doesn’t know how to control it and it comes and goes away, will that be how this fight will go?.

Even if Robin gets captured it won't be spanning any long saga defining arcs. If Robin gets apprehended this arc you can bet Brook or someone will save the day right away. Hopefully with the arrival of more government agents some decently big named individuals will get their apples handed to them with at least a full chapters worth of battle. Keep Robin safe while she isn't 100% and get the other Straw Hats in there for good measure! Brook, Chopper, Usopp and Nami could all use a battle that feels full and satisfying. While the biggest Straw Hats are exhausted from their antics let the less powerful clean up!
Actually many readers should be afraid, very afraid with this take robin plot.
In many stories this insufferable plot device is used to further the drama, create more anxiety and headaches for the reader. We all have seen it where the character had the key to the vault, box or the door, he just doesn’t have the location of where door is and the minute he finds it, he loses the key somehow.
We’re close to laugh tell. After the battle the strawhats will have 3 of the 4 poneglyphs. If the rug is not gonna be pulled from under us with this plot device, why bring up now?. This capture Robin plot had pretty much been done with after ebnies lobby, why bringing it back now if it’s not gonna go anywhere?. To give rob Lucci something to say or to do?.
We could have a situation where Robin is taken and the Strawhats have to deal with Elbaf, Blackbeard Plots and other plots before they can get Robin back for the final voyage to Laugh tell and then the final World Battle. It sounds crazy but Oda could actually do this. This would be bad for my taste. I hate these types of plot devices. But who knows how Oda would go with this. Maybe Oda just want to showcase that the Strawhats are strong enough to protect Robin and nothing will come of this kidnapping attempt?. But they did that at ebnies lobby, some would say. I don’t know.
I really wouldn’t mind if Sanji vegeta’d Zoro by saving him or giving king the last hit or a good hit. It would lend to a good laugh and awkward feelings from zoro ranging from rage, thankfulness and jealousy.
There are 8 supernovas in Wano. These 9 shadows who will bring the Dawn, could the supernovas all gang up on Kaido. We need a 9th supernova. Maybe Momo could be the 9 person besides the supernovas?. What was Shakky’s prophecy regarding the Supernovas?.
It is interesting how Kaido challenges Yamato's rebellion with the reality of the blood that flows within Yamato and the shallowness of humanity who will see Yamato as only an extension of Kaido’s nightmare. The suffering caused by Kaido over the past two decades will remain a too large wound within the spirits of the Samurai for them to begin considering the offspring of Kaido separate from their anger, wrath and retribution. Kaido does not believe there is place within the hearts of the Wano people for acceptance of Yamato. Such a fatal perspective speaks to the mental shackles binding Kaido’s own mind. Experiences he has endured echoes through the message he seeks to brand onto Yamato’s spirit. What happened in Kaido’s past that has led him to disengage himself from trusting others? Through Kaido’s eyes, it appears all that remains in front of him is a world to break down.
The minds of the samurais against Kaido?.
I don’t see this great anti Kaido mentality in Wano. Kaido and orichi did an American annihilation of the Indians type of thing. A situation where most of the people are killed and replaced and the ones who are left are so mentally broken and changed that they would accept anything that can give them release and a better live.
Look at samurai statue firey hair mafia prison little guy, whatever his name is, and the rest of the samurais that were in Udon, they had given up, they were just waiting to die. I never felt any hate towards Kaido coming from them. They just seemed broken and resigned and just hoping for a little release from time to time, be that food or not getting tortured.
There’s no massive hate in Wano towards Kaido.
So is Kaido immortal?. He and Big Mom are from the same era as Whitebeard, Roger, Garp, etc yet he doesn’t seem old like them, even big mom looks a bit old thou I don’t know if her strength has diminished.
Lets keep the hatetorade on Oden alive.
Before the flashback I thought this character was a very respectable character. I thought that he was gonna be like Yasuie before the smiley but he turned out to be like Yasuie AFTER the Smiley. He is a joke. He’s such a joke that when kanjuro created that fake Oden, readers thought that that indeed could be real Oden because that’s how his character was. Is he dead?. I don’t know. He is over here, no he’s over there. Where the heck is Pandaman?.
There was an overall lack of seriousness to him. He feels like a fifth dimensional character from Superman series. The possibilities of him are vague and infinite. There’s no foundation to him, there’s no solidness.
Oden, popular?. Well everybody got their problems.
You like who you like. Me personally don’t like this character. He had or has no impact on me as a reader. Could have done without his flashback. I think he would have been better as we knew him before the flashback and that’s how he should have remained.
Someone mentioned Corazon in comparison to Oden. Please don’t make me laugh. Corazon story captured my attention, it didn’t start that way. I thought that Corazon was gonna be what Oden is to me, a jokey character, someone that I don’t give a crap about and annoys me. Nope, Corazon was just using weird trickery and even annoyance as a disguise hahahaha. But in truth Corazon story was saving Law and did it in such a “YEAH” way. Somebody described Corazon story as coming out of nowhere and bizarre storyline and character and at some moments it kind seemed that way to me but It’s not. He earned me with his cared for Law and his sacrifice.
Yeah Oden sacrificed himself too but i have no interest. As a reader he did not capture me. He’s a jokey character to me. I never found him or his story serious. Maybe he should have been more dramatic or something, I don’t know. He just seemed like the representation of Pandaman

I don’t think it’s a trick. In the movie TOTAL RECALL 1990 there’s a character who has a fetus like human inside him and it was alive. I think Blackbeard has something similar, I’m not sure if it’s alive thou. And I’m gonna go further here, I think Blackbeard may have two fetuses like being inside him and he may eat another fruit, making it three. His skull flag gave me this idea.

I read somewhere that Blackbeard has the strongest Logia and the Strongest Paramecia fruits and that he might eat a third one (the Strongest Zoan fruit). It would be very fitting for his character. But the strongest Zoan fruit, isn’t that Kaido?. Kaido is known as the strongest Beast and Dragons are known as the king of all animals or beats. I would not be shocked if Blackbeard is aware of everything that’s happening in Wano and after Luffy beats Kaido, Blackbeard might show up to finishing him and take the Dragon fruit for himself.

From the warlords we met up to that point and how they were described, it didnt really indicate they had a crew.
Crocodile's BW was described as a collection of infamous ppl not his crew.
So of anything Luffy became warlord level. Not the strawhats. Same thing repeats itself with Moria.
It was only until Dressrosa where I feel you could call the strawhats warlord level cuz Doffy kept his crew intact.
For me Luffy became warlord level after the timeskip. Luffy’s fruit quite frankly has been one of the weakest. Its major natural ability is tanking Blunt force. Luffy being the protagonist have found ways to enhance himself in a way that I don’t think was natural to the fruit but it sort of works. His enhancements has made him a good brawler which fits well with his natural tanking ability. Before the timeskip even though he had the two gears, he just didn’t seem like having that warlord wide range damage causing ability to me or that he posed that great threat. I know he beat lucci and Moira but still it just didn’t feel like he had that you know power threat capability. He was running on a lot of hype. The crocodile fight was ridiculous, never liked that fight and I feel like Luffy shouldn’t have won it without haki.
After the timeskip is when I felt that Luffy had actual tangible power, the type of power that goes beyond being the protagonist, power that powerful people in the manga had. Power to take down 50,000 weaklings because you know I’m a big name, yes a warlord level big name.
You know what I find weird and confusing and specially distasteful?. that everyone gets a special type of fruit, well maybe not everyone but many characters and the minute that Luffy’s fruit, which has been a piece of useless garbage for the most part especially compared to other fruits, gets some attention, which probably mean or meant nothing, many posters here were up in arms complaining of how Luffy should not be given anymore special treatment or power ups. The complaints were just ridiculous and nonsense.
The way Oda treats Luffy in the story is like when your boss is a relative and that relative, to make sure that other employees know that you’re not getting any special treatment, treats you worse than the other employees, this is How Oda has treated Luffy in a lot of the story. I mean you got Ace a fire logia, Blackbeard has two devil fruits, powerful fruits, and I think he’s gonna get a third one. Yamato seems to have some type or rare magical Japanese being fruit. The other employees seem to be treated better than Luffy. Oh but some one mentions guarding Luffy’s garbage fruit: multiple posters: “why Oda, why, isn’t Luffy special enough?”.
If this Yamato fruit is as magical as we think, it probably has flying ability, fire throwing ability and god knows what else. Imagine Luffy has gotten a fruit like that from the start.
Unless the translation is different, I didn’t find what who’s who said about jimbei being fast on land for a fishman racist.
Also, what a way to punch America right in the gut, Oda. A chapter-ending line like that fits America's current problems (and a lot of similar race problems in the world, actually) too well. And on the 4th even.

Seems to me that who’s who was talking about ivanko. Iva’s people were the ones disappearing guards and prisoners.
I religiously held on to the 5 act structure, raid failing thing too. But even I don't have much faith anymore seeing by how fast Luffy is getting back up and how Ulti got up from BM's ultimate attack obliterating her guts to give Nami her win. To me it seems to point in the direction of everyone getting their wins now so we can wrap things up. Which is real sad because I want that darkest hour real bad. It's still possible Oda will land that homerun and ascend to Goda once more, but it's very unlikely.

Yep, Pedro got called the Nox Pirates for a reason that relates to the dawn of the world, which he was willing to die for. Even if it's not a reason you agree with, it would be pretty big to say that's not a reason at all.

Fate is a big theme in one piece. As of now, we know that Luffy is the fated one supposedly, the chosen one. It seems that his fate cannot be stop by anyone. So let us ask the question about Pedro’s fate. Was he fated to do what he did or was he just a damn fool caught in the fate of Luffy?. Is fate a power that’s putting many pieces together over time so that the main piece Luffy, accomplishes his task?.
Maybe Pedro was a replaceable piece in fate’s manipulation. I tell you one thing and I must strongly emphasize it, Shishiliam was not gonna get caught in that crap. I know I’m bringing Shishilian too much into this and maybe I’m wrong but there’s a lesson to be learned here. Shishilian ain’t no fate’s Byatch.
Well, I don't mind that Oda keeps the number of deaths to a minimum so that each of them will be meaningful.
In fact, the real thing that's upsetting to me at this time, is that Pedro seems to have died for no particular reason.
Pedro was a dreaming fool who got caught in the winds of the era and his adoration for Gol D. Roger’s adventures. He wanted everything that was Roger including his end. He went out to sea to accomplish his dreams and got beat up into reality or maybe I should say that his will and luck to accomplish his dreams were not strong enough.
He saw in Luffy someone whose will was strong enough to accomplish all that he couldn’t and it seems Pedro still driven by the Roger mystique decided to go out in big time death while at the same time pushing Luffy forward.
He was a fool, an old dreaming fool caught in Roger’s web.
Look at Shishilian, alive and well. You don’t see him dreaming fool hardy stories and the likes. He’s a lion with a good head on his shoulder.

I missed where Oda has been obsessed with Tama of all characters. Her ability obviously is going to play an important role when it comes to the smile users but I get that you have decided there are more important characters you think Oda has forgotten about or ignored.

This fixation on Tama and hate for her is weird. Not much else to say other than your opinions seem way out there compared to what is actually happening but that seems to be your thing.

The arc is going great specially with Luffy becoming one of the elites in strength with his latest poweup: CoC armament.
He’s back to the east blue sea atmosphere, given as good as he’s getting and his Hype is no longer luck nor fake. True strength back his hype now.
Tama and her storyline are doing great.
Lol, he can literally cook gourmet meals from scraps of food.
His 2 year training was all about cooking food that would level up the eater to a certain degree.
By cooking that food, Sanji would have played an important and integral role in setting up the alliance.
Heck, we could have had a scene where Queen's plague was ineffective because the alliance had eaten food that bolstered their immunity.
I am just completely and utterly dissapointed that the one character who should have cared, has never actually been shown caring
I mean, for christ sake, the only reason Sanji was cooking in the capital was to maintain his "cover". It had nothing to do with him helping out starving people.
Oda went out of his way to show us Nami's affinity for children.
Why couldn't he do the same for Sanji.
Instead of Zoro. It should have been Sanji who Met Yasu.

Don’t you understand that everything was poisoned; the land, the water, the animals, the trees, everything. The only eatable thing that wasn’t contaminated was controlled by orochi and Kaido, that’s why we saw Luffy stealing not only food but water too. From what is sanji gonna make food, scraps you say, what scraps, every is contaminated. Now if you want Sanji to make food out of leftovers, that was still in possession of orochi’s people.
Just because you wanted a side story for your enjoyment, doesn’t mean that it should be done or that it makes sense.
The only people that got an axe to grind here are Zoro’s people. They at least have many past incidents where Zoro and Wano were linked.
Wano’s hunger problem is the pollution, Sanji can’t do anything about that. Best way to handle it is to take down Kaido and Orochi.
Oda hasn't gotten bad at making matchups. It's just that this was an Ulti x Zeus fight. Lots of emotional development for the little cloud. Nami… she was there too.

This wasn't Nami's moment, it was Zeus'. He got his redemption and made Nami more powerful. Nami's chance to show what she can do with her new weapon-companion is still to come.
Finally some sense.
Uh uh uh nami beat Ulti, uh uh that wasn’t supposed to happen. Oda has lost his abilities.
Who the hell is Ulti?. Unfreaking believable. It wasn’t enough that this Ulti character got tenderized by Big Mom and then beat by the cloud that was part of Big Mom fighting power, no no no Nami should not have done that because Ulti is the Ultimate character and her hype is beyond contestation. And there is no tension.
At least they stopped masochisting Luffy for the moment. Luffy must lose because Kaido’s HYPE is beyond Nature. Why Oda, why are you letting Luffy fight equal against Kaido?. Kaido should be mopping the floor with him. Kaido’s hype. There’s no tension. Just give Luffy the One Piece Oda, I’m done.
This is how many see this manga. If Luffy is not living in Struggle Town (which believe me, he has Struggled enough on this arc and vs Kaido) and the strawhats are not in the helpless situation that they were in saboaty island then the story is no good. There’s no tension, the say. They’re like masochists that want their main characters to get their ass kicked most of the time and somehow win or get away by some struck of luck. They want their HYPED characters who’ve been hyped to the sky for a long time, to remain so, and they want the strawhats to keep being the punching bags that get saved by some Deus Ex Machina AKA Shanks or some luck or some other Hyped character.
Ulti was a nothing that got one shotted by big Mom. It is obvious that her defeat was about making that cloud redeem itself and becoming part of the gang.

Nobody was leaving Wano, so apparently they didn’t have much news of the outside world. They just knew that their ancestors closed country for fear and f a great power. Oden was the only one, at least on his time, that wanted to go out and explore the world and even he couldn’t do it till Whitebeard got shipwrecked there. I think that kind of solves your issue.
