It think it will most likely be more since that requires 'just' 150 more chapters. Even though I believe the conflicts in the story will escalate massively this year, I doubt that's enough for Oda to finish it.

This is also my biggest criticism of the series by far and it really frustrates me that the manga isn't on more breaks when it's very obviously been needed for many years now, especially now that we're approaching the most ambitious part of the story.

I wish One Piece was on a bi-weekly schedule or something close to that. ~25 chapters a year would still be a really solid amount for a series that's been running this long (hunter x hunter or even detective conan fans would kill for this many chapters a year). His art would surely improve and he gets more free time.

Yeah that speaks against it, but out of all the options i've seen people bring up so far, Smoker still seems the most likely candidate to me.

The fact he hasn't been shown at G-14 with Tashigi already seemed suspicious and Edison's comment implies it's someone who is currently not an enemy of the government.

I think the main reason he went to Elbaf is simply because it's the best place to hide from the government. It's the most powerful nation in the world and he would stick out too much in other places.

The chapter about Kawamatsu and Onimaru was one of the best of the arc. Them not being strawhats doesn't make it wasteful.

Yeah I also believe the great war has either already started or will start with Kaido's defeat. Oda's comment from volume 97 supports this as well I think:

I wouldn't argue that he's a pushover on any day. But all signs point to his greatest strength being that of his united crew.

I agree that his crew is probably his greatest strength, but the fact that he is grouped together with people who were capable of beating Kaido implies to me that Kaido thinks Shanks could too, or that it's at least a possibility.

Kaido has platinum'd 'strength' and he wants to delete the world now. He's the strongest being and he lost the stronges 'man' who had the greatest chance of taking him out and leaving his name in legend.

What about Shanks? Kaido puts him on a pedestal with Oden, Whitebeard, Roger and Xebec which shows how highly he thinks of his strength and I don't think he has defeated him. I really want to know more about their encounter two years ago.

Turning the page and seeing GIANT LUFFY descend from the clouds was amazing, incredible panel. I'm in love with Gear 5.
Also the Jump cover is one of Oda's best.

Greg, how would you translate what Blackbeard says here about the darkness fruit?
I've seen "most dangerous", "most wicked" and "most powerful".

Even if the fruit's "Awakened" form is what they're truly concerned with, I have a hard time imagining that they'd use phrasing like "That fruit's a legend, even to us!" to refer to not only the fruit of a pirate who has been making himself a VERY public nuisance since he appeared two years ago, but also a fruit CP9 had in custody 12 years prior. By the same token, any fruit used by an individual well-known on the world stage is probably off the list for similar reasons.

The way I understand that line is that they are saying the original name and ability of the fruit is a only a legend to them, not whatever it is known as today. It's not that they didn't know about the gum-gum fruit before, but that only now during the raid did they find out that it's possibily the long forgotten legendary fruit. There could be a different reason for why the government was after the fruit 13 years ago. Maybe Vegapunk knew something about it and requested it for research?

Ryuma, also known as the god of the blade, protected Wano from its enemies. You could say he was…a guardian deity.
Since Zoro is pretty much the second coming of Ryuma, he'll have to do the same and stay in Wano. Unfortunately this will be the end of Zoro as a strawhat.

I think Robin's bounty will rise to at least a billion. Luffy will be a fully-fledged emperor after this battle and therefore dangerously close to the One Piece. I don't think the government will have any reason anymore to hide Robin's true threat to them, especially if they find out that the strawhats only need one more road poneglyph.

I think Misery is suppose to be an upgraded version of that, just now a combination of Hera and Prometheus and able to move more freely. It's only because Big Mom kept getting interrupted we don't see her really attacks in play, but I'm certain if she hit either Kidd or Law, that they've been smoking heaps.

True but magnetism still has certain ranges for it to work. They're kinda hundreds of feet in the air and its hard to tell where the factory is at the current. So Kidd likely was just working with what he got, also remember the beams he used were under Big Mom's powers, him calling them together keeps some opponents off them and he didn't have time to cobble together something bigger.

Misery just feels like a regular attack whereas I was waiting for Big Mom to pull out a real trump card as her last resort.

As for Kid, Fujitora is an example of what some devil fruits are capable of and considering this battle is supposed to establish Kid as one the mightiest pirates in the world I was hoping we would get something at least close to as insane. But I also understand that Kid is still growing and Oda has to save some ideas for later.

I'm disappointed in Big Mom's display in this fight.
She didn't show any of her large scale attacks like Fulgora or turning Prometheus gigantic or any new stuff that would make my jaw drop. Her final attack 3000 leagues of Misery was super underwhelming.

I'm a bit disappointed by Kid as well. Damned Punk is an awesome attack but I expected more. There is giant sword on Onigashima, Wano is full of weapon factories. If Fujitora can pull meteorites from space and use the rubble from all of Dressrosa then surely Kid can do more with all that metal.

I don't know which one is closer to the original, but it just sounds like a weird choice by Viz.

I get you now. I don't read the fan translations and it didn't cross my mind that this could be interpreted as a past conversation due to obvious reasons.

Thanks. It's good to know but that alone doesn't convince me for the reason Ivotas and Solid pointed out.

Based on the manga I still believe Shanks grabbed the fruit himself.

Quick google search and, it seems like during the Oden flashback this chapter has been brought up and speculated among the fandom.

I mean, if someone could find the raw and look if Oden is written. That'd put an end to this. I searched and couldn't find the Japanese version.

Very good chapter but I am a bit annoyed that it took Zoro this long to realize that the a swordsmith is having the same name as his friggin' hometown. And nope, no matter how much you he says "I didn't put much thought into it" it's absolutely not to think of his hometown when he hears it's name being dropped of only in a different context. Let's say you change Zoro's inner monologue like follows:

"I realized right back when I heard your name that it's been old man"
"But I didn't put any further thought your into connection to Enma because you just made it, you don't teach the way of the sword.
"However now that I see things more clearly, is there something in your many ramblings that could make me understand Enma better?"

I'm now very good in terms of eloquence so I'm quite sure that someone more eloquent than me could write up a cooler sounding monologue containing the same information. The point is with this we would have the literally same chapter minus Zoro coming across like a moron that took this long to realize that Shimotsuki Kozaburo is sharing the same name with his hometown.

Zoro did realize that his village and the clan share the same name, he just thought it was coincidence like he said in the chapter.

I broke down my reasoning above. TLDR: We're probably done with King and Queen in the next five chapters… and then final matches, including ticking time bombs, tend to be less than 10 chapters.

Even the longest wrap up in the series was under 10 chapters, most of the time its about 5.. So we're looking at 20 chapters more, 25 on the outside.

Barring a mega flashback or really crazy stuff happening in the aftermath.

The Water 7 wrap-up was exactly 10 chapters, Dressrosa was 10-11 chapters. I would be very surprised if the Wano wrap-up is any shorter. That's why I don't see the arc ending in May even without a long flashback or something completely unexpected happening.

I expect Kaidou to be done by march (barring mega flashback) and the wrap up to be finished by May. Unless some really werid crazy things happen that we just can't predict.

For the arc to be over in May it would have to finish in 20 chapters from now, at most. That seems extremely unlikely to me.
