what I’ve taken away from MHA post-Lady Nagant is that it’s really hard to nail the ending of these stories. it’s unfortunate.

"I want you to be my companion. My muse. As Superman had Lois Lane. As Spider-Man had Mary Jane Watson. As Green Lantern had whoever he had."
“Green Lantern had….”gestures in the direction of a refrigerator
I’ve been really digging this series post-Downfall.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I've seen this topic getting bumped for a while because of the spoilers, only seeing that it had something to do with Mina. Now reading it, you should be happy! After years of being a side character with a unique look, she finally has a character moment that she can use to grow. In this series, a failure today can lead to development tomorrow. Not every great character moment is going to be a win. It's just a shame that she, like much of class 1A, hasn't had real exposure to villains until now.
completely agree. feared for the worst after reading the spoilers here, but personally, I liked how this was handled.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Also, we really don't need more Hunter X Hunters with random body counts of named characters just because. That doesn't actually make the story any better or more interesting.
Agreed.
For me, it's just an easy emotional out if a couple of students get dusted here. If some of these students are going to die, then let them at least earn it.

RE: NFL Football 2020 Season
Are they not planning to delay the season?
I bet they’ll be contingency plans, but publicly, as of right now? No.
-
RE: Chapter 971: Sentenced to Boil
Whomever this traitor is has a lot of fucking gall to keep on being an informant while having their boss (Orochi) nearly kill them, only to have their bacon saved by their primary target.
That individual is up there on my shit list for this arc.

RE: Chapter 969: Fool of a Lord
Wow, Moira at age 27.

- Feels weird to see him without the scar that basically splits him in two
- Wonder who on the Beast Pirates gives it to him, since Kaido loves him a club and that doesn’t seem like a scar one would get from a club…
-
RE: Chapter 969: Fool of a Lord
I will rejoice when the time comes and that piece of crap Orochi is finally taken down and killed.
That’s gonna rival the Spandam Slap panel for me. Cannot wait for it.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Hoooooolllllllyyyyy shit, that’s an image to leave a chapter on.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Every fucking author should be on oda's schedule. This week was a mess all around, I want to blame mangastream, but many things are product of too much to do, and too little time.
Pariston_hill has exactly the right idea. This should’ve been all one chapter and just give the author a solid NYE vacation.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
! I think those that are disparaging Ururaka in this chapter/fight are selling her well short, as she’s the only one to have taken charge of the situation and crafted an effective (yet easy) response to BerserkerDeku. Having coolly assessed the situation and coming up with an effective plan is something that, like, half the classes sucks at right now.
! I honestly don’t know what y’all were expecting. -
RE: Voltron: Legendary Defender (new netflix series premiering June 10)
So anyone else watched the finale? Because I just….
Yup and yuuuuuuup.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
so what is the consensus as to what's happening with Midoriya quirk???
One For All can stockpile other quirks that Midoriya's predecessors had and this is one of those times where it just happens to be acting up.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
new chapter out and things juuuuuust got interesting….

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I've had the same thought, though I considered it more in terms of strategy vs tactics.
Twice now Class B folded quickly when their strategies fell apart. Yaoyorozu's quick response very nearly turned things around and the one match to end I'm a tie has Honenuki and Tsunotori, who read the situation and acted more tactically since Tetsutetsu threw out strategy from the outset.
Both of y’all are spot on.
I’ve enjoyed this arc for what it is (a low stakes introduction/fleshing out the two classes) while still moving along the character development for those that the author clearly fancies going forward. And, I dunno, I felt that Bakugo needed a big public W after sitting out the Overhaul arc/being Princess Peach in the Rescue Bakugo arc, but that’s just me. shrugs

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
@Long:
He has a support item to direct his blasts so hhe's no longer totally useless
I’ve been thinking he’s more like Spider-Man, but that might be the PS4 game that’s throwing me off.

RE: Adventure Time!
@ubiq and robby:
Both are good choices.
That’d be a fun list, top (X) Cartoon Network original shows.

RE: General books/novels thread!
'Lincoln In The Bardo' will knock your fucking socks off.
Get the paperback.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
From context we know that AfO is evil, but this flashback didn't sell that. All I get from it is AfO's a bro, OfA's weird and crazy, and a whole lot of people are fucked up in the same specific way.

RE: Food Wars - It's In the Trash
Nice to see that my take on this series has aged poorly. Now I’m just reading this out of pure inertia.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Huh, I wonder who helped Dabi teleport using All For One’s method.
-
RE: Chapter 911: A Great Adventure in the Land of the Samurai
rushed through a decent amount of character info just so we can end on the Ace portion of her story, but whatever. Small gripe in an arc that’s bound to be absolutely massive and tons of fun.
love the character designs and really like how Basil Hawkins, magician turned headliner, chose the third option between Kidd and Scratchman.
-
RE: Food Wars - It's In the Trash
is this series worth reading?
if you don't invest too much grey matter into it, sure. there are worse ones out there.
but there has to be some better ones as well, yanno? currently its a solid meh that's trending downwards, largely due to the overarching plot.
-
RE: Steven Universe
this deserves seven seasons and a movie. good goddamn, what a great run of episodes this has been.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
So looks like we have our 'dormant legend'!!!!
Rocks, eh?
Now THIS is exciting.
Garp got his epithet not from dealing with Roger, but from this Rocks fellow who -I bet dollars to donuts- is the reason Kaidou 'owes' Mom.
What kinda badass is this character, huh?
I hope he’s The Pirate That Was Promised To Have The Stereotypical Pirate Eyepatch. We’re well overdue for that character.

RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
@Monkey:
Welp lol.
The highest ranking in the WG, AND they are confirmed to be Celestial Dragons themselves.
Which further empowers the theory that they're immortals from the Void Century.Friggin told you, and told you, and told you again!
that makes it more audacious that Sakazuki was talking to them like that after the Dressarosa Incident. the brass balls on that dude.
-
RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
Mashwrjsh (I should learn his name now that he's human) is either unaware, or still an asshole for everyone not merfolk (I doubt as that is not the way that oda does it). I dunno if he can just free slaves without any consequences, just like he can beat the snoot out of Charlos.
I think/hope he realizes that he’ll be dead before dawn if he tries to do anything of that sort unilaterally, thus waiting on a person/people of FT’s caliber to free the slaves.
-
RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
Otohime just won like 800+ mother points and 20000+ politician points from beyond the grave.
see, that one panel from the last chapter about the slave labor walking sidewalk makes me think/hope for an outside shot at a Fisher Tiger redux soon. Probably not this arc, but soon.
-
RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
Poneglyphs, maybe? That would explain why Garp won't say their real name out loud.
And Oda's interlude chapters of the past has always been awesome, so this extended version of it is one hell of a treat.
And I'm really glad that Otohime was right, this payoff made me happyBut Hina mentioned that their captain was gone, so it has to be a pirate crew. Right?
edit: I bet whoever the captain is, it’ll be the one with the stereotypical, legendary eyepatch.
-
RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
Holy shit, that was awesome.
One minor thing: I bet the certain pirate that’s gonna be discussed in that room is Edwar D. Teach, not our lovable rubber protagonist.
-
RE: Chapter 904: The Entrance of The Revolutionary Army Commanders
I'm talking about future events , not past events . Luffy also was bodied by Rob Lucci but we know Luffy always improve and become stronger (exhibit A : luffy defeating katakuri)
the only thing sanji did was crying and making cakes .Other SHP wouldn't go for the big fishes like three calamities .
Here's how the scenario would go : Sanji got one-shotted by one of calamities , Zoro then helped him and Zoro improved himself to win the match. Zoro then gets the bounty of $1 billion while Sanji got $33 million bounty (there was a typo on his bounty where the bounty got one more 0's) -
RE: Chapter 900: Bad End Musical (Break)
https://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/655/3
They sailed a literally burning sea before, with fishbones floating at the surface.
Gotcha, thanks (to all) that pointed that out.
-
RE: Chapter 900: Bad End Musical (Break)
Doesn't really make any sense to say it's a mess merely because you can't figure out how they'll get out of this situation.
The longer this goes on and the worse the situation gets, the more likely we’re getting a Deus ex Machina or a pardon because of how good the cake was. I think both of those possible resolutions are cheap outs and would disappoint me.
-
RE: Chapter 900: Bad End Musical (Break)
What about this is a mess lmao
If they were captured again by Big Mom, I do not see how it would be possible for any of them to survive. It would be illogical beyond belief, basically Pell 2.0. Their ship is currently depicted as a burning, wrecked heap. They can neither travel under the sea nor through the air. Nami was last seen gesticulating wildly at Brook, not whipping out her climatact for a large scale mirage and Big Mom has no base idea of what’s going on other than that cake. So, how do they avoid being captured?
It's Adam Wood. Anyways, Oven's abilities are the least of their problems.
Adam Wood looked like it got rocked and never recovered.
-
RE: Chapter 900: Bad End Musical (Break)
If the Fishmen can’t survive this boiling sea, what makes people think the Sunny can? Especially since it’s been proven to cause serious damage/explosions to ships.
-
RE: Chapter 900: Bad End Musical (Break)
I’m waiting on pins and needles to see what Deus Ex Machina emerges that allows the Straw Hats to leave this place and start heading towards Wano and the rest of the crew.
Holy fucking Moses, what a mess.
-
RE: Chapter 899: The Last Stand
also, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of the germa 66 fighting alongside the world government/celestial dragons whenever they end up going up against the straw hats just so we can get the sanji tap-dancing on judge’s face panel that we frankly deserve after those pot-shots.
-
RE: Chapter 899: The Last Stand
Man, I hope that I remember all this consternation about Sanji’s fights after he ends up with the 2nd best 1v1 fight in Wano.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Modern day? He's a little bit more subtle. It doesn't usually enter the pages of the story unless it's a historical case.
He's definitely had weekly comments on such topics and his colorspreads have also addressed such issues which proves that they are on his mind but he's humble enough to keep such commentary limited and veiled in his work.
Modern commentary is definitely there, but it rarely takes center stage.
Gotcha, gotcha. Thanks for the quick response.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Greg, I got a quick Q:
Have we seen One Piece comment on/refer to/take a position on various news/political events over the course of its run? I’m trying to think if it did, but I’m not entirely sure.
-
RE: Official Totland Thread
I wonder if we’re going to be seeing these guys later on down the road (after this arc), and if so, who and in what capacity? I imagine we’ll get a bigger hint of that in the next few chapters.
-
RE: Chapter 893: 36th Daughter of the Charlotte Family - Flampe
….and there’s about 2 hours and 30 minutes worth of fighting left between those two, because you know everybody is gonna be there when Katakuri flies through that mirror, lands on his back, and takes that ‘L’ in front of his Big Mom.
Maybe Luffy will spend some time in whatever healing tank the Germa has laying around their base.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Speculation/Rambling time:
I firmly believe that this arc will end with a truce between Big Mom and the Strawhats. However, The Cake can not and should not be the only reason for it. Throughout WCI there have been three things that Big Mom cared about above everything else, and have been heavily emphasized:
1. The Wedding Cake
2. The Mother Carmel Photo
3. Germa's Cloning TechnologyThe Strawhats have screwed up all of them. If each one isn't settled and accounted for by the end of the arc, I'd consider it bad writing.
You’re missing two things that Big Mom can get or has gotten riled up about:
The Road Poneglyph and the destruction of Whole Cake Chateu by the Tamatebako.
I just don’t know how both pirate groups can be on good terms after both of these events are relayed to Big Mom when she regains her sanity.

RE: My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
This arc has been my favorite arc (of the limited series that I read) in 2017.
-
RE: My Hero Academia - Gomu Gomu no Gentle Fist
More like this arc would be 100x better if they were the main characters.
They are the real MVPs here.
