I've got many DS games from the US and Jump: Ultimate Stars from Japan and they work fine on my DS.

I think the 3DS is going in a more console direction, since home consoles have had region locks for a while now, and there's also the fact that it has a movie service via Netflix.

I picked the catchphrase that sums up the podcast experience (when we mean business, look, this is my serious face :pouty:) That being: "We are Maji!"
If I were to go to a convention, I would proudly wear that shirt showing that not only that I'm a part of the podcast, but I love every minute listening to it. It's the catchphrase that promoted Strong World, plus, it always helps to make you look like a bad-ass, even when you don't say it in a bad-ass voice!

Let me give you guys my opinion on this One Piece: Unlimited Cruise subject.
At the time of the game's release, One Piece was doing extremely well in Germany, and people noticed that there were no other ways to get One Piece aside from the anime. UC was the deal breaker, because the series sold well in Europe (possibly 2nd from Japan), more money was indefinite and thus, UC was released.
The reason I believe that UA wasn't released in Europe was because NamcoBandai already were working on UC when UA shipped to the US, and possibly felt that since the Europeans don't get UA, they'll make more money be sending UC to Europe because Europe didn't experience the game mechanics of UA, because lets face it, they're both practically the same game in terms of design.
With the announcement of OP:Gigant battle this summer in Europe and a possible release of UCSP, it was proven that the Unlimited franchise was a way for the company to see if One Piece was popular enough to warrant more products in a specific country. In Japan that isn't a problem, since Japan practically eats it up. The US and Europe are different however, which is why this franchise was the perfect test.
So in conclusion, I would say import UC for all you US fans out there, but I think that the Wii freeloader doesn't work anymore. Or, even better, wait 'till Gigant Battle comes to Europe and import that, since DS games have no region lock.

It's been a long time, but I've finally made a new One Piece video. After my 2nd place winning entry for the unoffical One Piece Podcast got pulled off YouTube, my channel has now a lack of One Piece… until now.
I've entered this for an AMV contest, being the only [MAD] in that contest so far. I was really having fun with this project, so I really hope that it's as enjoyable to watch as it was to make. Here's the video:

! Great job guys. I am looking forward to all the interviews. Here's my review of Cruise that will likely end up too long thus be sad that I typed it.
! I have played all of Unlimited Cruise 1 and 2 and it mostly entertained me enough and I really liked some ascepts but a One Piece videogame could be so much more.
! I never played Adventure but since I'm pretty sure Cruise is exactly the same but with minor improvements, I'm not sure if there's any point in my playing it. Well the only reason why I would is to hear all the english voices out of curiosity, mostly Franky's. And reliving some One Piece moments in CGI cutscenes is cool.
! So with Cruise, the islands are very badly designed; they're mostly a boring mess (especially the canyon place). One Piece is one of the best series for amazingly designed locations so the games' levels are kind of an insult. Though I don't really know how they could design the levels better. Since the storyline has some being creating people from the crew's memories, I dont see why it couldnt also take locations from their memories and sort of mash some of them together or something. I dunno…
! The non-boss enemies are mostly the same boring fodder you keep plowing through and I hate the non-One Piece ones like weird clay monsters and clay soldiers. They could have at least had several different character models for the same enemy. I was sick of every zombie looking the same.
! Bosses are pretty good and yes some were freaking hard. I leveled up my stamina so much I just spammed them with special attacks though. I'm not the kind of guy who likes to be patient and dodge. I just go on the offense.
! The way to raise your stats is so stupid and I am surprised the developers didnt learn their lesson from the first game. If there is ever a 3rd game in the same vein please get rid of and change the really bad aspects.
! If you want your stats at the max it requires an ungodly amount of fishing and running around for ingredients and since I have no life I maxed them out in 1. In 2 I am pretty sure the developers realised how much people could spam bosses so they made stamina get used up way faster with no way to increase it more (or increase it much I cant remember) thus DESTROYING all my hard work EFFING FISHING!! But I think I still managed to spam bosses quite a bit in 2. Still they were hard and it was so SATISFYING defeating some of them. Best part of the whole game is that satisfaction.
! I still haven't finished boss rush mode in 2 yet because I want max HP for everyone but its gonna take too much fishing. Since its so ridiculous what you have to do to max out, they should'nt have even given you the possibility to do it and should've thought up a better system.
! Collecting ingredients to build and cook stuff was good at first and in theory but when I was trying to make one of everything, and needed the right materials for Franky and enough stuff to feed gabri so they could open up new areas, it took way too long going to the same boring places in a big collectathon.
! But with all that being mostly bad, here's the good:
! Exploring the Thousand Sunny with it looking exactly the way it should according to Oda's designs. But I think there's some design flaws that are either Oda's fault of the videogame developers'. It's also sucky that they forced you to buy the second game in order to unlock the rest of the ship. The 2nd game was just a huge money ploy. My primary motivation for buying and playing this game was to explore the virtual ship. Yes I paid like $40-50 AUD (actually I really cant remember) per game for a virtual pirate ship.
! One of the best things about One Piece are the crew's interaction with each other and boy did this game convey that perfectly. Every time you go back to the ship you will find different people in different places and situations, plenty of which are hilarious. I spent too long going on and off the ship to find every scenario and even though of course they repeated a lot there's still a HUGE amount of them. One of my favorites was Brook sitting at the dining table banging his cutlery on it yelling for Sanji to make dinner.
! Getting to control the characters and use their cool movesets. In part 1 I was disappointed by the lack of attacks but in 2 I was happy to find that you get a whole new set of moves and can choose the ones you want. Its a bit limited by the controller and its a bit sucky you have to press 2 to switch between the 2 movesets, though. Special attacks are mostly a disappointment though because a lot of them ended up essentially being the same.
! There might be some stuff I've forgotten (god forbid) but that's it. If this game wasnt One Piece or I wasnt a One Piece fan, I'd give it a 7. Add on all the One Pieceyness and its a 9. But thats for someone who just does the bare minimum plus maybe the secret bosses. For the completionist who does all that fishing and collecting the game is brought down to a 6 by the end of it.
My ideal One Piece game would be a 20/10. Its all about the potential and all the flaws they didnt fix from Adventure.

Thanks for giving a more in-depth review, you sure bashed the game for what it was. We should be grateful that theirs love for us Europeans OP fans.
As I mentioned on the podcast, I'll be doing a more in-depth video review for both Unlimited Cruise 1 and 2 in the near future, possibly next season. I may not look it, but I'm pretty into video games and am no stranger to this style of game, so expect a more thorough description on UC 1 and 2 when the reviews come.

To think that 13 years have gone by. When you recap the series as a whole, it doesn't seem to be that long.

Oda is the Charles Dickens of manga. Why, because he describes everything, every small detail and manages to make everything that has happened so far connect with all the kinds of powers and people we have seen.

One more thing, Color of Armaments should be called Armaki.

Skype uses usernames, so when the podcast calls your Skype from their Skype, it will be free. The catch is that you have to be online on Skype fir them to call you this way. Skype can also call phone numbers, but that costs money.

I think this is great doing another piece together so early. Since there's no new chapter or episode, this seems like the best option, and seeing how well it did in episode 116, why not do it again?
Also, I love Piece Together and many other segments, but since I'm considered staff, it would be unfair for me to vote, especially considering that I might be on this episode!

I should totally do this! But on second thought, because I'm a member of the podcast, it won't be fair to a lot of people who want to get their questions answered who aren't on the podcast staff.

The new opening was… different for One Piece. I think it was a good move to not have spoilers like opening 12, so to not ruin what will happen in this arc. Usually, One piece openings have a bouncy beat that's all happy and catchy, but it is good to see that this opening provides change for the arc ahead. Perhaps the biggest change was not to include more than 20 seconds that showcase all the Straw Hat pirates, seeing what happened in the last opening, and knowing how big this arc is, it was a smart decision. This opening also felt like a "whos who" of One piece, showing many characters we are expecting to see in this arc, and finally, it is all topped of with some great animation. Overall, this was a great opening.

Damn it! I missed the recording time! My guess was recording started at 5 am over here, and I was sound asleep at that time. I think it will be better for me to get on next week's Thursday podcast as I will have more stuff to share than what I have now that I have mentioned on Twitter.

This was a fun episode to record, since it was the first time I was on for more than one segment this time. I really got into the spirit of things and I really enjoyed it!
Just to note, I need to find a good source for European One piece news, it is very hard to find it, even if there are small bits of news about One piece, I still think it would be worth getting.

I've got a question about the weakness of the devil fruits.
At the start of the series, we found out that the weakness was losing the ability to swim, but gaining unique powers.
However, later on in the series Kairoseki is introduced, which has the properties of the ocean that nullifies devil fruit user's powers.
If the main point of weakness of the powers is now the ocean, does that mean if a devil fruit user goes into a public pool of chlorine for example, their powers won't be nullified? We saw it happen when Luffy went into the private bath in Amazon Lily, he and Hancock didn't show signs of weakness. What are your thoughts on this theory?

This may not be a question, but since I asked that question about the DVD's a while ago, they've just arrived at my place!
I would like to thank the members of the One Piece Podcast for their advice, I couldn't have made my decision to buy them or not without you guys!

Has there been any new information about the upcoming video game One Piece: Project Jet?

At the end of this chapter, I had this going through my head:
"Best, plot twist, ever."
It might not have been exactly like that.
Another thing is that there seem to be a lot of big climaxes in this arc, this one is one of the ones that stood out for that whole "Holy Crap!" feeling you get when you read it for the first time.

Here is a question related to a voice actor.
A new video game for the Wii just came out that you might not have heard of, its called Tatsunoko v.s Capcom.
I won't go into describing it, but when playing as a character called Megaman Volnutt, I noticed the voice was strangely familiar, it was Mayumi Tanaka, the voice of Luffy.
I have to ask, do you think her voice works with a video game character that looks like this?:

I've got a question as an English fan.
Is it worth buying the Funimation DVDs despite the fact than I can only play them on my computer, rip the files and then watch them on my T.V? Either that or use a cheap DVD player that uses the American format. Also that it will be quite a bit of money to invest in. Is it worth it?
