It's amazingly unique. The mood is light and easy, yet, at times can be very serious, and in a good way. There are many levels in One Piece that appeals to younger readers that only see the surface jokes, and also older readers that begin to see the irony between things. I've never, ever, ever, ever, ever x 100 seen anyone that has read the majority of One Piece and said they hated it, and I don't ever plan to. There are reasons that One Piece is the most popular manga in Japan. :P
