@$abZ's theory.
If Ace dies, I TRULY believe that Blackbeard WILL become the "final battle". Either way, that is an awesome idea. I just really hope Ace doesn't die…
Well that would certainly give Luffy enough incentive, now wouldn't it?

Why oh why do the chapters have to end on such cliffhangers?
To keep people interested:getlost:
Or furious. One of the two.
I am still hoping that it has Wind Element +3 and HP 20%. I suppose it could be a 'costume change', but it seems to grab the eye much more than just a 'change' to me. I really would like to see it draw to something ~~ or have some importance. like casting Phoenix if he dies…
PFFF, what, are you kidding me?!? It wouldn't cast Phoenix, it's much to small.
Rather, it would give Phoenix downs!
I figured as much, which was why I added the unfortunately part ~~ as it would be humorous. =)
Ok, good. Jokes don't transmit well over text.
Unfortunately, it was already stated that was because he had the lens cap on.
Yes, I know, that was a joke :getlost:
It's just a costume change, (like how Nami has changed clothes 30 something+ times already) it goes with his blue vest instead of his usual red one. I can't see how it is supposed to be a joke in any way.
Huh, what? No. Wow. No.
I meant the pointy chined guy changing from black to stripes, and I meant would the glass armband become a running gag, like panda man. Although, now that I think about it, I guess it's just part of his costume now.
I don't know it this has been mentioned but has anyone noticed Luffy is still wearing the armlet from Thriller Bark on his left arm.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/503/07/
huh, I suppose he is.
I wonder if this will become an on running joke…..
Nor does spotting panda man, but people do it for the sake of interest and curiosity. This is discussion after all.
Ya, but….Panda man's....cool...like..that...(and he's an on running joke)
while this guy is.... a guy with a pointy chin (and a quick costume change).
Considering Oda's new trend is doing this, Thriller Bark didn't get full justice IMV, Oda should have had more time to do his stuff. I really wish someone had a map of Jump readership coefficients so we could see if OP was doing not so well in TB which might have influenced Oda leaping forward with the plot.
Maybe Oda himself wanted to jump forward, to get them to the new world. While the arc did have some important things in it, like the introduction of brook, 2 shichibukais, lola (and her mom), and a foreboding to the new world, these may be the only reasons it was kept.
Sorry late on reply for my initial question about Sanji's bounty. Was heading home from work
But he doesn't deserve it at all. Just like said earlier. The CP9 obviously didn't get to make a report or anything. So it is all uknown who beat who and just considered a team effort.
Now when they all get to the bridge Sanji dissapears while the rest except exausted Chopper fight the Captain commanders. Now when bounties come out, they give the rest roughly 25-40 million bounty, whom were shown fighting off the guys easy. Yet they give Sanji 77 million, who was not there at all.
They give Chopper 50 beli cause they assume he isn't a fighter cause they never see him fight. Now lets assume they would obviously assume Sanji fighter cause he is human. Why is he thrown so much higher than Nami/Sogeking/Franky? The train was weaklings. You can't tell me that Wanze and that boxer guy are worth 77 million.
So I believe Sanji shoudl be like the other around 40 million or so. I think Oda just gave us 77 million just cause he is stronger than the others. But the facts don't add up.
Well, another reason why the bounties are so messed up is because of 2 reasons
1. He was trying to make it so when brook came along, their combined bounties would come out to a round number, which is why chopper's is so low
and 2. He needed to give a high enough bounty for big time bounty hunters to go out trying to catch Duval. I mean your not going to go so close to the new world just for a 30 mil bounty. Duval needed to be chased relentlessly.
Also, this is just speculation, but the WG may have possibly been keeping tabs on the strawhats, and it's obvious just by watching them that Sanji is strong.
Or it may be because the photo taker thought he was a demon 'cause he couldn't take his photo. :P
However, the Marines didn't see the majority of the fighting for any of them.
@$abZ:
The hat is the connection between Shanks and Luffy. It's what was given so Luffy would work towards meeting Shanks. Shanks used it to make Luffy a great pirate.
That's it IMO. It still holds great importance, no point trying to add things to it, especially it being one piece… which sucks as an idea and I wouldn't be happy with oda if he made that the case.
This is true, that is in fact all the hat is, for right now. The hat obviously has a significance to shanks also, but that could only be because he's had it since he was a child.
IMO, the hat is luffy's "one piece". I can see him at the end of the series adding to roger's.
Roger gave the hat to Shanks, Shanks gave the hat to luffy. Wouldnt that be a little cool….
I don't know, I would think if Roger wore a straw hat, it would be part of his legend.
Then again, I suppose he wasn't the pirate king when shanks had the hat on….. but still.
I think that there is another significance to the hat for shanks that hasn't been revealed yet.
Then again, maybe he just liked his hat.
HEY! Is this guy on the top cell with the pistol from the Capone gang?
maybe
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/498/12/ - 3rd (or is it 4th?) panel down, right below the "gulp gulp" speech bubble
Even if it is, it doesn't really have much significance.
And I can't believe I didn't catch on to this when I first saw Zoro 6 years ago but his sword in his mouth is a classic pirate trope: That random pirate with the dagger in his mouth raiding an enemy ship. Oda took that and turned it into a whole fighting style. Oda is manga Jesus.
which is exemplified by my avatar
There's a lot of movie pirate cliches, aren't there? And yet Oda seems to take those and revive them, giving them new life (especially the peg leg)
why I don't think there will be a new nakama (at least, not for awhile, if not ever):
I'm looking at it from a writing stance
If you think about it, every time Luffy wanted a new nakama, he wanted a musician. This soon became an on-running gag.
However, now that we have a musician, I think that it finally wraps up the nakama gathering.
@MonkeyDMalcolm:
Think logically people Kid's bounty gets raised for attacking civilians
So you really don't think luffy bounty will get raised for attack nobles? honestly you people…...
Then again, none of their bounties got raised after thriller bark, now did they?
True, there were no witnesses, but also because it was an embarrassment to the WG.
It really all depends if the WG can turn the story into their favor, otherwise, the existence of it is denied.
The funny thing is, the path to Raftel could just be hidden because it takes a few years or so for the Log Pose to set on the penultimate island, like on Little Garden. The reason why that could be difficult is down to the proximity of the island and the difficulty for the log pose to stay in the same place for the right amount of time with everyone else trying to stop them.
Well, this could be why none of the 4 yonkou have yet to reach Raftel. I mean think about it, those 4 have been in the New World for awhile, and Shanks even took the time to go meet Whitebeard. In a traditional race, one person wouldn't backtrack or let the other ahead just to talk to them. This means that getting to Raftel isn't as easy as just Island hopping. One reason, as you said, is that on some islands, it may take a really long time to set. Another reason (going off on a speculation tangent again) could be that there is "something" blocking the path to Raftel. Either that, or the 4 yonkou are just keeping themselves in a stalemate.
@Fluer:
Kokoro x Chimney
OH BABY.
More like Kokoro and Gonbe
sexy
Indeed. I believe it deserves it's own bounty. It's clearly a grave danger to the world government.
Ussop's Butt is the 10th straw hat! Oh wait, wrong thread.
I just read the scanlation on one manga, it's a good'n
but jango wasn't an adult back then…..
UNLESS he actually traveled back in time by reversing the polarity of the dragon bones (y'know, the ones that gave you eternal life), attempting to create an instant aging death potion to kill his enemies, but instead the reversed polarity interfered with his personal 4th demension, sending him on a time traveling adventure, meeting such people as Ryuuma and Roger.
this is just me, but I would also put digital coloring and digital animation into this too. Like, the transitional phase between actually coloring the cels (and having cels in general), and then just going digital. That's just me though….
The Strawhats will defeat an Admiral now after punching the Tenryuubito.
No, actually, the Tenryuubito was an admiral in disguise, trying to catch pirates hurting the Tenryuubito. In fact, all of the Archipelago was really one big ruse to catch the pirates, and in fact Camie is a secret agent for the WG
ah… scratch head more and more people support F/R.
Well, let me also say that I'm not such a big fan of all of this relationship stuff, Oda said himself that they are only in love with adventure.
I'm only saying, if there had to be a relationship, I would go with F/R.
poor Oda-sensei, having to draw 9 characters on a regular basis for covers and color spreads. i think there won't be a new SH for awhile
He probably has assistants, you know >.> …..
I doubt anyone at this point will join. If anyone, it would be hatchi, because he has the most development out of all of the candidates.
But remember, Oda counts ships as a part of the crew also. Remember when he announced a crew member would die? That turned out to be Going Merry. So, I think that we have everyone at this point, at least it would seem so, having all of the crew members conveniently right before the New World.
Then again, I could be wrong. We'll just have to wait to find out.
he either a) sent all 50 huge ships through reverse mountain (unlikely) or B) went through the calm belt and used some of his other ships as bait for the sea kings.
alright, first off, let me tell you on how I think this arc is going to go down:
After luffy punches the Tenryuubito, the rest of the nine supernova's get angry at luffy and the strawhats in general for the fear that an admiral would go to the archipelago. However, since the Marine's are dealing with so much, they may "delay" the admiral, or just bring him along for ace's execution, and then go after the pirates afterward. At some point, Luffy, noticing that his brother's about to be executed, may go rescue him, or maybe the brother's will do it true "D." style, and Ace may just wave him along as if nothing was wrong. Anyways, at some point, the strawhats are going to do something to somebody and get their bounty increased, whether the Marines mention what they did or not.
(congratulations if you read all of that)
tl;dr = my speculation on what will happen in this arc (pretty much pointless if your not interested) and a little bit on the bounty thing.
edit: whoops, I didn't include Rayleigh, oh well.
So, do I think the bounties will increase? I think it all depends on whether the Marines are willing to admit what he did or not.
As to how much the bounty will be, if all of the strawhats go the way of defeating the rest of the supernovas, the Marines may Overly increase his bounty, just to get rid of him faster.
In case you haven't noticed, OP has become much more serious as time went along. Things went from Buggy bullying Shushu to a man's ambition with Krieg, murder with Arlong then great justice in Arabasta. There was the ousting of an oppressive ruler in Skypiea, to the break up of the crew in Water 7.
It'll never get Bleach serious if that's what your thinking. OP will always fluctuate between 40% adventure, 20% action, 20% comedy and 10% seriousness..
That's true, and I wasn't suggesting it would get bleach serious, but maybe upping the seriousness a little bit. Using your chart, let's say 15% seriousness maybe…..
Does anyone else think (or is hoping for) a more serious tone in One Piece once they enter the New World? I don't mean like, taking out all of the jokes and killing people left and right, but maybe just putting a slight serious tone on it, not only to show how the Straw Hat's journey has matured, but also to please some of their older audiences. Then again, one of the reasons I watch this show is because how light hearted it is. But, I think it can be just as light hearted if not more so by putting on a more serious tone. If the bad guys get badder, then the victory would be all the more sweet at the end.
…holy fudge, someone actually asked this question in a recent SBS?! THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR FALLING BEHIND! O_____o;;
Fantastic answer, Oda. Roger might have had the Rubber Rubber Fruit afterall!
Now wait a minute, I thought Roger was a swordsman.
Or was that in an episode filler? It was, but the fact remains the same. I doubt Oda would let toei screw up that royally.
Then again, maybe he was a swordsman and had a devil fruit….

You have got to be kidding me.
LOL, that would be hilarious. And creepy….
Anyways, I haven't read through this whole thread (cause I'ma bastard) and this most likely has come up already, but.... robinXfranky?
One Piece has A LOT of gray backgrounds, while Bleach and Naruto are usually all white
Actually, this is one reason why I like the manga in general, it's because more detail is put into the backgrounds.
Now if i recall a Odz is 900, and he is highest.
Actually no, technically he isn't. Remember, his full title is "Special zombie 900, oz". Even his number on his arm is something around the lines of "SP-900", which would mean that he is in his own special class.
I'm slayerlx…and I have a problem. I'm.....addicted to one piece. I can't stop, I just love it so. I'm just glad I'm in a supportive community.
Ok, enough of that. I've been here a few times through links and sometimes browsing, but I've finally joined for an outlet of all the one piece in my mind.
It's good to be here!
edit: oh ya, I'm also an editor on the one piece encyclopedia, if that's of any significance to anyone..... (just thought I should mention it)
