    • RE: The Toughest Obstacle?!

      @Fire Fist:

      Arlong took a gatling, a bullet, a whip, and a bell without flinching. Then had his teeth shattered once, ripped out four times (Once by Luffy to free his arm, second time by Luffy to get teeth for himself, and twice by Arlong himself), got speared to the chest, impacted with concrete, Impacted with a building (Both during Shark on Darts), Had his nose shattered and then reset (The resetting is even more painful), and then finally had a five story building collapse on top of him.

      Yeah, I think by now all of us already got the point that Fist Fist Ace thinks Arlong had the most punishment handed to him so I don't see why you need to keep emphasizing it.

      Anyway for me it has to be Arlong, Crocodile and Rob Lucci. For every other opponent Luffy has faced, it took a decent hit to send them flying. But those three I've mentioned are clearly a level above and always refuse to go down. Kind of fitting that when they were each defeated, Luffy was issued a new bounty.

      @Fire Fist:

      You know, this goes along the lines of my "Brooke is Mr. 11" theory, so I don't have to make a seperate thread.

      You do have a lot of crazy theories FFA. Well nothing is definite at this point, but when I read One Piece I generally keep an open mind and when a new character is introduced, they are new. I don't start drawing lines connecting people together.

      But assuming Brooke is telling the truth, he stated he hasn't seen a living person for 10 years and since the triangle is famous for ghost, I think you won't be far from the truth to assume he's been living (or spent his after-life 👅) in the triangle.

      Then again, this is Oda we are predicting and it might end up just like Blackbeard using black holes. You might be right … again

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramsey_theory

      Basically it states, if you look hard enough anywhere, you would always find a pattern. And that isn't hard considering there are 411 chapters of One Piece … so you are bound to find some numbers to support your claim.

      Yeah, I've already read wiki before I made my post because its been ages since I last read about black and white holes. But I know Fist Fist Ace isn't a big fan of wiki so I left that out …

      @gaara:

      I'd say One Piece just moved up in the shonen power scale after reading this chapter. BB sucking in an entire town is easily the most immpresive feat in OP since Enel sank an island. Now, if BB can suck in a town now, by the time he faces Luffy, he may be able to suck in an entire city.

      One can only imagine what Oda will come up with next.

      Really? I thought Aokiji freezing the ocean for a week was the most amazing feat seen so far. Might give Bleach's Tōshirō Hitsugaya a run for his money.

      You've obviously never heard of a White Hole, which repels matter.

      White Hole is something not commonly discussed because none has ever been observed so I'm not suprised not many people have heard of it.

      @Fire Fist:

      Whatever a white hole is made up of is the opposite of a black hole.

      That's a pretty bold claim, got any sources to back it up? To the best of my knowledge black holes are made up of neutrons. I don't think I've ever read what white holes are made up of (if they exist at all), you seem to know something I don't so can you enlighten me?

      @Fire Fist:

      The original Pluton is underneath Alabasta, which Blackbeard could easily find. Using black holes to blow up the desert? No problem.

      Dude, we don't even know what Blackbeards power are. We don't know if Blackbeard can manupilate blackholes yet. You might be right, you might be wrong, but we would never know until Oda draws it out. So just hold your horses and wait and see before making more pure speculation.

      @Fire Fist:

      The Pluton blueprints are to build a second Pluton to counter the first one.

      But still, I don't think it's really Pluton. I think it's a modern version of the same ship, which isn't quite the same thing. I do not think for a second that they have the materials to build a 2nd exact model.

      Why can't you just accept they are the same ship? Oda already wrote the story this way.

      @Fire Fist:

      As far as we know, there's three original Ancient Weapons:

      Er … unless I've missed something, no we don't. Only you think there are three.

      Oh, cmon, that's easy and it should be obvious to you.

      Ho Ho Hoooooooooo???

      @Fire Fist:

      Skypeians were cattle. They did whatever Enel told them without question until Conis actually spoke up. And even then, they treated her pretty crappily at first.

      Mindless sheep mean following orders without thinking. But that doesn't make them stupid. During the Nazi regime and Soviet Russia regime there were plenty of brilliant scientist but none of them ever questioned authority. Does that make them any less brilliant? Your definition of intelligence contains a contradiction therefore it is erroneous. Try harder next time!

      @Fire Fist:

      I'm 100% sure that Enel told his priests what Mantra was, trained them in it, and what you saw in the Skypeia Arc is what the result was.

      I've got just three statements to make. Try and see if you can follow them through.
      1. 0% of what you stated was shown in the manga.
      2. Therefore I am 100% certain all this is purely your speculation.
      3. Thus, I am safe to say, you can not be 100% sure what you claim is true.

      @Fire Fist:

      No, Satori was not the smartest book on the shelf, but he was superior to the Skypeians in the essence that he wasn't one of thousands of cattle, being suppressed.

      So not being suppressed = smart :wassat: ???
      Are, so this is yoru definition of being smart? I think this is where your argument deteriorates.

      As mentioned about the Soviet and Nazi, the KGB and Hitler's Waffen SS (Storm Trooper) did the suppressing so by your standard they must be the SMARTEST people in their country. This must mean KGB and Storm Trooper for the next Einstein!!!!!!

      Note: Discussing One Piece is all good and I enjoy reading speculations and seeing how many come true. But I just get annoyed when people pass off their speculation as fact and say they are certain they are correct.

    • RE: How much has Luffy improved?

      @Rai:

      I don't seem to understand the topic..
      If Luffy needs to win, he'll win. No matter who you put against him. Yeah, there are things around it, but that's basically it.
      Luffy -will- become the PK, so he -will- win any fights that has to do with it [protecting his nakama gets here somwhere].

      Except he lost to Croc twice and Aokiji once … so it isn't that simple as Luffy would win all fights.

      Terek, I'm not sure if you are reading the same manga as me but I find Luffy has improved by a considerable amount, dare say exponential amount! There was once a time when the fact Luffy could stretch his arm, punch a Seaking and rocket himself up a tower was amazing and made him a superhuman amongst the town folks. Now Luffy can break 2 house he is stuck in, wreck an entire island of marine and took down the strongest secret agent of the marine in history. Yet after all this he still isn't the man with the highest bounty and there is still a long way to go relize his dream of Pirate King ...

      There was a time Kuro was fast as hell, now Luffy could keep up with that speed. There was a time when Luffy needed several attempts break Kreigs armour, now Luffy could break Tekai with his Rifle. Back in East Blue Luffy's strongest attack undoubtly was his Axe, which shattered Krieg's ship and broke Arlong Park, but now he could punch right through bedrocks with Storm. If you ask me the moment I relize how much stronger Luffy got was when he OHKO Bellamy. Need I say more?

      Well, Arlong was Jimbei's equal 8 years ago. And the key word is "Was". 8 years is a long time to train. I doubt Arlong did any training. On top of that, Arlong was at a disadvantage. Jimbei's kingdom is underseas. That means he'll practically own, especially if he ate the Mizu Mizu no Mi. Gyojin Water Pressure Abilities + Water Pressure DF powers = Win.

      As for Buggy, his fight was interrupted, and it could've gone a lot longer if not for Nami's interference. Plus, Buggy wasn't even hurt. He was actually pretty confident. He complimented Luffy for his ability.

      Seems as if the SH still need a member to fulfill the "Arrogant, Cocky, Rival, Jerk guy" category and another female (hopefully a Mer-woman).

      I don't think the "Arrogant, Cocky, Rival, Jerk guy" would work here because that's already covered between Zoro and Sanji in an amusing way (we know deep down they care a lot about each other 😆). I don't think anybody should act cocky and treats Luffy as a rival because he is the captain afterall and is suppose to kick the most butt. And it would detract from the family theme the strawhat has.

      But the soft more feminine girl joining would be interesting, although one might ask why somebody gentle and nice would join a rowdy bunch of pirates …

      @Kaze:

      Which is?

      The Marines?
      They've pretty much've been owned by all straw hat crew mmbers since the beggining of the series.

      Cypher Pol 9.?
      The Straw Hats owned them.

      The Buster Call?
      I think we've seen what effect it had on the Straw Hats.

      An Ancient weapon?
      What ancient weapon? They dont' have one to use. And if they do then they'd have done it already.

      The Shichibukai?
      I see this as their only option. And this time they'd better send more then one. 😛 cause obviously one wasn't enough to take down luffy, and now that zoro owns mostly anything that gets in his way he can prally take one. Plus, to send one very powerful shichibukai to fight 8 very powerful Straw Hat crew members, especially when there pissed off, is not a smart idea. Hopefully the five old geasers see this.

      Besides the Shichibukai, I see no other move they could possibly make. Unless there is an even greater weapon they have yet to use, But if they had sucha greater power, then wouldn't they have already use it on the 4 Emperors? Or maybe the did and it back fired, Thus making them the 4 Emperors, and also making them the 3rd now known power in the world.

      You forgot that the marines still haven't sent all their admiral to fight the Straw Hats yet. The last time Ao Kiji paid them a visit already shows that the marine can easily put a halt to them if they ever need to.

      Yeah, I would like to see Coby becoming Fleet Admiral and bring a halt to corruption in the Marine. I think that ambition is very fitting for somebody who befriended the future Pirate King at the beginning of the story.

      As for Coby and Luffy at each others throat, that's not likely. Despite Luffy destroying the very symbol of power that is Enies Lobby, when Coby saw Luffy they just began chatting and even suggested a party! There are also two unnamed Shichibukai and Jinbei to be introduced. Jinbei is also one of the four emperors I believe. Other Characters that are still waiting on the sidelines are the two other Marine-Admirals.

      Luffy also has to meet Ace again and the secret of the piece of paper he got from Ace has to be revealed.

      @Fire Fist:

      Gear 3 is the concept of increasing volume and thereby strengthening mass.

      Well I would love to see you define "strengthening mass". :getlost: If you mean increasing volume leads to an increase in mass, then you are partially correct but on the whole very wrong. Try blowing up a balloon with air. Done? Does it feel any heavier? Well I would be surprised if you felt a difference but if you measured the mass of an air filled balloon on an electronic scale, the difference would be a very small increase due to the fact that air molecule has a small mass.

      Since mass doesn't change much whether you inflate it with air or not, if a balloon is thrown with a constant speed its momentum can be assumed to be constant. Still not satisfied and think an inflated balloon can do insane damage like Luffy's Giant Pistol? Just ask a friend to throw an inflated balloon at you and feel the pain. 😉

      @Fire Fist:

      And of course, his fast movement is the theory of Special Relativity: E = MC^2

      No, no, no! Special relativity is only noticeable at speed approaching the speed of light, something Luffy has not managed to achieve. It be great if you can explain how the famous "Mass is a form of energy" formula could be use to explain Luffy's speed too.

      In short, don't apply real world physics into the world of manga. Don't ask me how Luffy managed to do so much damage with his giant Gear 3 fist when in real world physical theory there shouldn't be any increase in momentum. Just accept it as shounen logic (Odaverse) and distant it from the high school physics you've been reading about.

      I think "Fire Fist" Ace is indeed "Thinking too Much…" when he should keep things simple. 😄

    • RE: Future bounties

      Fist Fist Ace, do you ever read other people's post? I just highlighted the flaw with using the number of hits you can take before going down as an indicator of strength and you outright ignored my post.

      Several other things to consider.
      1. It doesn't matter if you go down in a few hits if your opponent cannot hit you. You ranked Arlong stronger than Eneru and Blueno but I doubt Arlong can lay a finger on them.
      2. So you've excluded the hits Krieg took because it doens't hurt him. Well when Luffy delivered a pistol into his armour, Krieg was slightly affected by the impact. How would you take into account tekkai which the CP9 use so often? I would expect the ability to take hits but not be hurt by them a trait for being strong.

      @Fire Fist:

      Krieg took 4 hits. His armor does not count BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HURT HIM.

      1. Punched in the face
      2. Slammed to the ground by Luffy's foot
      3. Gaveled into the deck of Baraite
      4. Slugged by Gin

      There was also the time when Krieg's armour broke mid-air, Luffy jumped out of the smoke and delivered a Bazooka right into Krieg's chest. The final hit from Gin didn't look that strong, just something to stop Kreig's mad rampage and definitly not on the same level as Luffy's hit.

      @Fire Fist:

      Arlong:
      …
      12. Gomu Gomu no Giant Axe ftw.

      It was a regular Gomu Gomu no Axe that brought Arlong and his park down. The only time Giant Axe was used was in his most recent fight with Lucci. Stop giving Arlong more credit than he truly deserves.

      @Fire Fist:

      Crocodile:
      1. Bazooked into a shrine.
      2. Punched once
      3. Kicked into the Air
      4. Gomu Gomu no Storm ftw.

      Read my post, unless you need your eyes checked, that Gomu Gomu no Storm involved I reckon several dozons of punches. STOP COUNTING IT AS A SINGLE HIT!!! Using your broken criteria to rate the endurance of a villian, you've treated Storm and Bell as an equal attack :getlost:

      @Fire Fist:

      Both Arlong and Lucci took more than 12 direct hits from Luffy before going down. Any other villian took 4 or less. In terms of strength, Arlong and Lucci were the strongest.

      SIGH

      What's with the recent obsession of counting how many hits you can take before going down trend. Three fundlementel flaws
      1. Pistol and Bazooka would both count as a single hit, but we know Bazooka is much more powerful.
      2. Luffy improves … a lot very quickly. The Gomu Gomu no Jet pistol in recent chapters is much more painful than those pistols Luffy threw from chapter 1.
      3. I've seen people count Storm as a single hit when in reality it was many.

      @Fire Fist:

      Croc was weak, Krieg was weak, Kuro was weak, Enel was weak, Bleuno was fairly weak, only Lucci and Arlong were not weak.

      …
      Bleuno was fairly weak? What were you smoking when you typed that? When Luffy first fought Blueno, Blueno got over-confident thinking Luffy could never break his tekkai and was punished with a Rifle and then slammed into the wall. But he still managed to get back up and shrugged it off as if they were nothing. When Blueno and Luffy were seriously fighting each other, their fight was pretty much dead-even. Luffy did deflect Blueno's Rankyaku so I reckon Luffy is still the better fighter.

      It wasn't until Luffy actived Gear Second that the fight swayed one way. Blueno then fell after 3-4 hits. So does this makes Blueno fairly weak and Arlong not weak? Because I can't imagine Arlong able to withstand Gear Second either.

      @Octogon:

      The thing about Enel is that he's a logia. His power is nowhere near 500 Million if he is limited in using his powers, like when he fought Luffy.

      I've posted this before in another thread …

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eneru
      Trivia

      In a recent SBS, Oda confirmed that if Lucci and Eneru were to fight, Lucci would narrowly manage to win.

      In a recent SBS, Oda confirmed that if Eneru were actually a wanted pirate, he would have a bounty of no less than 500,000,000 berries.

      I'd be interested if anybody can verify the sources (after all it is Wikipedia) but its some interesting news.

      You are being harsh on Eneru. I can't blame him though, being a logia makes one over-rely more on their powers, Crocodile and Eneru both went down after a couple of hits as they've always manage to avoid physical damage. Neither of them have the physique of Lucci yet both are powerful and feared. Besides, how many rubber man are there in One Piece?

      In my opinion, I think Luffy deserves a bounty in excess of 500 million for his recent actions and pure strength. But I doubt that would happen since the pace of the story would feel too rushed. That's like the sum of Donquixote Doflamingo and Bartholemew Kuma former bounty put together. Also Oda tends to make the marine undervalue Luffy's head. Just look at Crocodile, according to Wikipedia …
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sir_Crocodile
      Before achieving Warlord status, Crocodile's former bounty was 81,000,000 berries, but it has been stated that if his bounty had represented his actual threat level during the Alabasta arc, it would be at least quadruple that.

      Luffy defeated somebody who should have worth 324 million but only ended up with 100 million. But I'm not complaining because one of the best elements of One Piece is Luffy being the underrated nameless underdog. There is always satisfaction when the arrogant villains (Kreig, Arlong, Crocodile and most recently Lucci) laugh, "Pirate King? Who do you think you are?" But after Luffy's first punch, they would finally know who they are truly messing with.

      If it's true, then it means even without Luffy's natural immunisation against electricity, the current Luffy can pwn Eneru with physical abilities that can go toe-to-toe with Lucci.
