Please, there's no way Reborn could go to Adult Swim. Even the "childish" anime series they air like Inuyasha and Bleach have a lot of blood and inappropriate content at some points that legitimize their presence, but the Reborn anime has almost none of that, and the instances that do occur are easily edited. The anime has already done most of the necessary censoring for Toonami, with Reborn's green gun and toned down violence and stuff. In addition, though I like the anime, you can't deny the aura of childishness the series gives off, especially during the Daily Life episodes and the scenes with young Lambo. Unless they do a Shin-chan style dub with it (which I imagine would piss off a lot of people), there's no way it would work on Adult Swim.

And Tsuna in boxers is hardly as issue. Concerning his tendency to be shot by Reborn, the anime clearly shows the bullet turning into a ball of light before hitting him, but it could still be a problem. However, the biggest problem is definitely the mafia thing. Everything else would work more or less unchanged on Toonami.

The real problem is whether or not Toonami would last long enough until Reborn is dubbed.

Hmm, it seems the Reborn anime is going into filler with 84. It seems to involve Haru going onto the surface, where she gets attacked by a guy with a bee box of the lightning attribute and has to be saved by Bianchi. Well, I suppose the anime is only about thirty chapters behind the manga, so they have to put filler somewhere, and better here than the attack on the base, I guess. Any responses? "Filler? DO NOT WANT"? "The anime sucks anyway, so who cares?"? "It can't be any worse than the canon material"? "Future arc + filler = ultimate failure"? "Eh, it doesn't really matter"? "Yay, filler! Now we can see the other characters in this arc do something!"? Something along one of those lines?

So I was right all along that the fillers before a major arc is always 8 episodes (it was like that before the Varia Arc)?

Anyway, I watched episode 68 and 69, they were pretty good, especially for a filler (that wedding one was hilarious)

All of those episodes were canon, along with the episodes before the Varia arc. It's just that they happened way earlier in the manga.

Japanese isn't the only language to randomly use English words, pretty much all mainstream languages do that now. Hell, watch a Bollywood movie (that isn't historical) and I'll give you a million dollars if you don't hear at least 15 minutes worth of random English.

On the other hand, while English borrows words from other languages, especially French, the typcial American doesn't randomly switch languages in the middle of a sentence, so that argument doesn't hold up.

A lot of people here seem to be under the impression that nakama can only be translated into a single term throughout the entire translation. I feel that the best course of action would be to, of course, use different translations for different situations. Arlong calls Nami his friend, "Nami, you are my friend!", other characters refer to the Straw Hats as crewmates, etc.

Toon Zone is a big animation website that is often visited by officials in the animation business. For example, for a time, writers for the DCAU shows like Dwayne McDuffie would visit the forums to give some exclusive information and comments. They are also given exclusive interviews with people in the business and schedules from 4Kids, Williams Street (the guys in charge of Toonami and Adult Swim), etc.

Bleach is currently Adult Swim's highest rated anime, and sometimes gets even higher ratings than Futurama, so it's in no danger here.

My guesses for what each episode will cover are:

320: Latter half of 435 (yes, only half a chapter, it'll mostly be filler)
      321: 436
      322: 437
      323: 438
324: 439 and first half of 440, ending with end of 434
      325: Last half of 440, 441

My theory on the shopping filler is that it and 320 are one and the same, but they decided to change the title. Thus, perhaps the first half will cover shopping escapades, while the latter half will cover the new bounties.

    • RE: How did you first start liking One Piece?

      @NoraDora:

I think the 4kids dub was complete bullshit because of the misreading of OP's target (japan-teenagers from 15 and up, america- CN, ranging 7 and up).

You couldn't be more wrong. Whether you like it or not, One Piece is aimed at children in Japan, and they make up the largest part of the audience. In Japan, most people "grow out of" anime by the time they reach their teens… and move onto reality shows and dramas.

As for how I got into it, I was lurking on the GameFAQs board when I came across the standard Naruto vs. One Piece topic. There was one particularly convincing post (which I later discovered to be complete bull) that claimed Naruto was better than One Piece, citing examples such as the fact that Mihawk would always appear to save everyone's asses (wut?). With that, I decided to watch Naruto. At the time, I was using Kazaa Lite for video downloads, and let me tell you, torrents are much more convenient. I got through the Chuunin Exam before I got frustrated by how long it took to download and the difficulty in finding episodes.

As a result, I got into MST3K (since there's not exactly a continuity, missing episodes was no big issue) and finally decided to start watching One Piece. The episode finding difficulty was even worse than with Naruto, so after getting through the Kuro Arc I gave up.

Cut to a year or so later when I discovered the world of torrents with Bleach. As I caught up with Bleach, I decided to try One Piece subbed again when the dub started and I found that it was horrible, starting from Arlong Park, since people were saying that was the best early arc (yes, I bypassed Krieg and all of the episodes I missed). I ended up loving it, and after catching up to the current episodes at the time (at the beginning of Water 7, right at Franky's fight with Luffy) I waited a bit and rewatched it from the beginning, catching all of the skipped episodes.

About the alcohol in MAR, they actually refer to it as (something) juice in the dub, though that's all they do to censor it, and it's really just mentioned to the side. Hell, many people don't even notice that they refer to it as juice. Everyone still acts drunk and such. On that note, drunk Snow is adorable.

As for Jetstream, I HIGHLY doubt it's going to be the FUNi dub. Cartoon Network isn't going to start showing BRAND NEW EPISODES online without at least some kind of press release.

      http://groups.msn.com/OnePieceMangav-2/adventureinthecityofwater.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=1575

I just want to know where it was learned that there are 13 episodes of filler…Because I don't want to believe such a horrible thought.

It really bothers me when people think just 13 episodes is too much. Seriously, how many do you suggest?

Personally, I think the folks at Toei are idiots for only doing 13 episodes of filler. Seriously, One Piece is even closer to the manga than Naruto and Bleach were when they started their filler hells, so logically if they want to remain distant from the manga, they should do a similar amount of filler–though more at Bleach's length than Naruto's.

The anime has covered halfway through 435. The latest chapter is 462, making a difference of 27 chapters. We have to take into account that episodes are actually made months in advance--for our purposes, let's say two months. That means we subtract about 8, getting a difference of 19 chapters.

Unless they're planning a huge amount of filler for after Thriller Bark (and we don't know if it will lead directly into a much larger arc or not) only 13 episodes of filler is a very stupid move. I'd say the way to go about this would be to do about 30 episodes of filler before Thriller Bark, with most after they leave Water 7. Assuming they do 1 chapter per episode for the remaining Water 7 chapters (which will likely not be the case) that would yield a difference of 49 chapters, or 57 by the time they air, as opposed to 32/40. Either way, though, it would be smart to include even more filler after Thriller Bark, especially if the following arc proves to be another mega-sized one.

Look, do you guys seriously think they'll just do about a dozen or so filler episodes and that'll be the end of it?!

The latest episode covered chapter 431.
      The latest chapter is 459.
      That's a difference of just 28 chapters.

Unless you want the rest of the series to be a slow paced one-chapter-per-episode anime, it would be in the series' best interest to get the gap between the anime and manga as large as possible without sending the series into an year of filler. I'd say thirty episodes of filler should do the trick before they tackle Thriller Bark, and even then it would probably be for the best if they went into another batch of filler after that (though shorter than thirty episodes).

Besides, it's not like One Piece filler is all that bad or anything.

Personally, that would be a very stupid thing to do. I'd much rather see the Straw Hats have go to random islands with Franky in tow and help senile old men and bratty children there than see them help senile old men and bratty children in the same location for several episodes straight. Plus, with the Straw Hats out on the open sea, we can have stuff like battles with bounty hunters, marines, and other pirates; treasure hunts; and adventures in general.

Just to warn everyone, there are a TON of jokes that some may consider "dirty", but I suppose that wouldn't be a very big deal to the Dub Piece fans here. Here are links to the first episodes of each series.

Death Note Parody (This series is currently over. Also, I'd like people to at least watch episode 2 before judging it.)

Michael Jackson & Friends (This will be ending soon. Also, this is a parody of the series Sexy Commando Masura. As a side note, this has my favorite opening out of all of the parodies.)

Giant ****ing Angry Robots (From Space!) (This was just released today, so I'm not sure if it will actually be a series or not. This is a parody of Dancouga Nova)

In addition, he has some song parodies, which are pretty good too. Also, he will be starting a Hamtaro parody soon.

Again, I'd like to reiterate that there are a lot of dirty jokes, so if you hate those you should probably stay away from these.

This is another translation of 296's title, which is what's listed on the site's episode list. Judging from this version of the title, it's actually referring to how Nami had Franky shoot Chopper into the ocean, not when Chopper interrupts her fight with Califa. Thus, the fight will only be stretched out over three episodes, not five+.
