@CCC:
In-world logic is one thing (questionable or not), but this is the anime dictating canon ex-post-facto because of corporate concerns.
Didn't Oda change shusuis's color because of the anime?
Reading One Piece doesn't mean you're into "Japanese media", and knowing particular Yokai doesn't mean you know what the word Yokai means… first time I heard it was in yokai watch.
Well people should brush up on their Japanese Culture. Especially if they're reading Japanese manga/anime.
No reason to be ignorant in this day and age.
I feel like I should not enjoy this manga as much as I do, but somehow it just works. The main cast feels way overpowered though, never any real sense of danger.
In a literal land of magic, the MC has a sword that can cancel magic. Doesn't get more hax then that.
Hyou had more Intelligence/knowledge at the moment he was killed then shin has now…
I would hope the Duke was pretty old.
Classic Kingdom right here. Only Shins got a Glaive now and a fat squad.
Jinbe including the two Big Mom Pirates was golden. Such a boss.
If you think about it, totally makes sense. Those two will face Big Mom's wraith in a scenario they're envisioning.
He had to have trained with All-Might right. They way the scene darkens and he gets serious, hair style, yell while he fights, like a plain All-Might.
I think they need as much firepower as possible for a Zhao campaign. This is a pretty solid grouping. Mountain tribe + Kanki army is pretty crazy
Ousen addition is to counteract the unruly nature of the Yotanwa and Kanki armies. Ousen from what I remember is pretty level headed and is a great fortifier, and they're going to want to keep whatever they conquer.
It seems very likely that at least one student and probably one teacher have ties to the villains. Hagakure is one of the original suspects and the one that makes the most sense to me personally, but recently a popular Kaminari theory cropped up too. Some people even suggest more trustworthy characters like Uraraka, to the point where "______ is the traitor!" has become something of a fan base meme.
I wonder if the heroes have a Professor Snape with the villain society
@Count:
I have a really bad habit of not being more preferably concise lol, but that's just how intricately packed my thoughts and analyses are.
I likewise get sinister vibes from Tsukauchi. Don't know why, but he may not be as normal as he seems.
Really wish her hero nane was Infinity Girl. That would be badass.
Deku found a good one. Humble, powerful, cute. Score dude.
Feel sorry for what exactly? For not liking MS' gratuitous, out-of-place slang? The other translation has a few typos, but is kept simple at least.
It's really not out of line for his character though. He styles himself as a boss, wears nice suits all that. I could see the Godfather saying that. It's not even slang, just a saying.
Gildarts will always be the best part of this manga, that isn't fan service.
Well that tells you why Sanji can be a complete asshole. Just look at his family, they're way worse. I think it also explains his ridiculous love for women, since it seems he never had love at home as a child. Was that a Man in The Iron Mask, mask, he's wearing in the cell? The Sanji we know becomes clearer with each chapter.I wonder what his brother's bodies are made of? Steel? They must have been born that way the poor mother.
Dude your sword breaks because you give up to easily. Why is Renji there? And does it get more smug than Yhwach and Aizen in a panel together? That's like San Francisco Smug.
Well.. as a revival of the thread due to the latest chapters. Takamura is getting worse, actually, he's getting jealous big time of Ippo and how much he's being pampered. The new Dempsey Roll has been a long time coming, but we're finally starting to see what people had been guessing all a long. Punches slammed from every direction and the ability to stop them at any time. We've been seeing this coming since the Scratch J fight, where he threw a uppercut from the Dempsey Position. I noticed something awhile back though, I think Aoki is going to end up losing to Shinobu again and retiring. It's been hinted at heavily that Kimura is going to go up a weight class, and the fact that he is fighting in a weight class below is holding him back significantly. He'll be the one to take Shinobu down.
I don't think takamura is that jealous, well maybe of Ippos size down there, he just knows Ippo doesn't have what it takes to be the best from a mental standpoint. Ippo still runs around the line in the sand Takamura drew, which shows he's still holding himself back.Dempsey roll upgrade, more training, none of that is going to matter if he doesn't have his mind right.
Maybe this will be Shins ultimate downfall as a general. There's an underlying strategy here that Kanki is using. He had an original plan, ruined by Shin not reaching the hill and going off course, and he is now improvising. Only way to take the hill is luring them off of it and it's more likely native fighters will go home to protect/avenge there families. Plus, the Spider isnt there, the only influencing factor of staying on the hill. There's a method to the madness. He realizes this is war and uses the entire field. Plus his men and he are ruthless, and I'm sure he uses a rewards based system. They'd likely would raped and pillaged regardless
Redemption songs time for Bihei.
My hope is he's gonna do something in battle to totally redeem himself. He acts like he's normal, but to survive that many battles, have your brother die in front of you. Maybe he'll come through again for Shin.
Just don't get killed off too, could easily see it with this series.
1 doesn't seem to care much for human life, even his own people are used as shields to attain goals.
2 looked pissed, maybe about lying on seeing Sanji again?
Maybe she has the ability to turn ideas/written words into living entities? Like, if someone were to write down flying carpet, she would be able to make a flying carpet appear from the aether.
Dream Dream fruit? Ability to make her dreams a reality?
That's more hax then Laws fruit in theory.
Maybe its something more like the Imagination Imagination fruit.
I think this arc is the Post time skip arc and the most enjoyable arc that I've read since Impel Down.
its a special arc. Bucks the basic formula. Provides several different goals with collision courses towards Yonkou. Gave new strong allies, and possible new crew member candidates?
Yeah I like it too.
Do we actually want someone that we haven't even met to join the crew this late in the story though?
Some new character just doesn't quite fit at this point, we learning everything ahead of time (feels that way) and the Strawhats have gone through so much to have some brand new character just join because they have an unaccomplished dream or some unforetold story.
I rather have a Vivi or a Gin to join the crew that some New World character that has had it rough this past few years.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I could see them taking on a promising rookie ala Shanks.
The search for a crew is never-ending, still things to do on the ship, that they're never on.
He didn't have enough people to take care they don't get surrounded. That was the whole point of asking for reinforcements. They knew they won't be able to hold down the opposition on their own after noon, and it's already noon and they are having to deal with enemies on 2 sides.
Ah okay that makes sense. I work the graveyard shift so sometimes I forget small details like that.
A wasted oportunity of a good twist if you ask me.
Now how the hell I'm going to care if they try to brainwash Bakugou? Its not like we'll notice any difference in the first place.
Exactly. Was almost disappointed seeing Tokoyami standing there.
This was the same problem with Sasuke, they're POS so when they go inevitably bad it doesn't have meaning. I don't really care about them either way so all that emotion drawn out by other characters doesn't really have an impact.
Meanwhile, Tokoyami has, quite literally, an 'inner demon' he can't control but is basically a pretty good person and a cool guy. If he gets turned evil, its almost like a Hulk/Hyde sort of scenario and he unleashes the anger. Maybe its because his quirk is so easily controlled by light that it wouldn't be practical story-wise.
I don't know what you expected. Was he supposed to feel the attack coming before it even happened? He reacted fast enough considering the circumstance. It's not like he was on some hill, having an overview of the entire battlefield. He was busy keeping himself and his men alive, holding a position which couldn't be held without reinforcements, suddenly getting hit from both sides at the same time.
I'm guessing even Ouki and Duke Hyou fought for quite a while before their jedi powers awoken.
Even people who have been with Keisha for years are surprised by this move. "Silent Hunter" making a loud move wasn't predictable.
Now he could have shown better battle sense from getting surrounded, but this is his time to shine now. Fighting his way out of a jam is Shin's specialty.
So Hi Shin Unit is a highlighted enemy of the Zou. Shin is well-known for his battle exploits so this makes sense. I can understand the thinking process of both sides on this one with Shin being left to dry and lacking knowledge. Especially after Shin crossed the river, Keisha must have thought that was inpenetrable from a defensive standpoint.
I don't think Kanki did it purposely to Shin, but he knew the inactivity would end up provoking the enemy. It just happens to be Shin.
I think Shin gets too underestimated here. I don't know if he kills Keisha this soon, but would be an interesting wrinkle to the story. Zenou as backup will definitely help, he's just gonna tank right through the enemy forces.
Only problem I have is the gas mask kid not having help. You'd think since he's a student(?), and has a weak physical skillset on top of being affected by his own quirk that they'd keep somebody with him as a protector
Maybe they figured he could handle himself with a gun In all that gas. Convenient that Tetsu was the one that found him.
Also while admirable as Deku is, how does he know where Bakugou is? You figure he's still be on the trail but that's only a guess. They could be anywhere, and this distraction plan could have lead to a rampage around the forest.
Artwork was fantastic though, and I like the manga to much to care a lot about trifle things like that. I guess that means it's up there with One Piece for me.
Oda never ceases to amaze. Resolved the Zou plot pretty well and things can start speeding up.
Seems that some even more powerful allies have joined the alliance.
Seriously hate the "zero tolerance" crap being piled on them for usage of their quirks. Zero Tolerance policies have always been terrible because of this.
just like with defeating Stain. It's one of the reasons people hate the system, among others.
In any fight, the biggest obstacle is yourself. Your doubts, fears, survival instinct. All get in the way. At least that's what Rocky said in the new Creed movie.:ninja: I think AM tried to say the same things by talking pushing beyond 100%, a tactic used by many in athletics and military.
Deku just pushes beyond his limits despite tearing up his body, heroic stuff. I'm sure there's even more power there to tap into. I knew that guy couldn't withstand all of OFA.
I don't know why people are upset at the 100000% thing. This ain't real life, it's just a Japanese comic. Gotta get into the spirit of things.
He could just destroy his lower half. Which could be cured later. I didn't picture Deku as someone going for the lethal option but it seems I was wrong.
You do realized that a full 100% blast to the legs can still kill somebody right? He'd have to go below the knees, and that's too difficult a target in a life-or-death struggle where he's also trying to save another's life.
Plus this is a shonen afaik, so I doubt the muscle guy is going to die.
Pretty sure no one is critisizing him trying to rescue Kouta. Personally, I don't appreciate how he is using his 100%. I don't mind he's using it, I mind how.
Well it's either kouta and Deku dies or the villain. Nobody said you have to keep everybody alive to be a hero.
The whole point is that if you know 100% is going to leave extreme intense damage, then don't use it. He's literally taking 5 steps back from the 2 steps forward in learning about his powers. "Well no options left, so I'll go back to hurting myself in order to save the day again."
I think the point is to leave extreme damage though right?
This guy has a quirk that is pretty much invincible. Rebuilding muscle tissue indicates that you need to punch so hard that you break bones or cause internal bleeding.
Plus it's a life-or-death struggle and a decision needs to be made in a few second span. He goes 20%, only breaks a couple of his own bones, but if the muscle guy is left standing then what? Hope a hero comes to save the day?
Damn, that One Piece hype !
" Oh, i know that but I won't tell you ! "
That's nice, and I know we can't have everything in one scan but still.. !!The way bege " walks " cracks me up, don't know why but I think at least half of his charisma just fly away with this ! x)
And then, it works so well !Can't wait to see what's happening next !
I was thinking his walk cracked me up too.
Part gangster Swagger, and part being a castle holding so much crap. I don't think we'll ever see him run, maybe physically he cant.
I wonder if Sanji is looking for Raizou?
He is supposed to be there right? I mean the people never noticed but he is a ninja, his main goal in life is to stay hidden. :ninja:
Dog duke reminds me of Luffy if he was a dog.
Damn that sucks^
Is En just dependable? A guy who will do anything for his comrades, for Shin? Hes pretty much an original, and was Shin's right hand man for a long time.
Maybe there's another trait there.
Not sure how a cat and dog can be brothers but it may be possible.
@Daz:
I agree that a lot of stuff is being set up for Zou, but at 6 chapters into the arc, what I'm missing most is the indication of some kind of active conflict, or objective on the crews behalf. 5 chapters after arriving at Water 7 CP9 have whisked Robin away, Merry has a death sentence, and the franky family is doing shenanigans. In Skypea the crazy-aggro "terrorist" Wiper has been set up as well as "Gods punishment", and the crew has been labeled criminals. In Drum, Luffy is already on his way up the mountains and Wapol is re-invading etc. At Zou, the crew have already accomplished their objective of reuniting with their comrades, and Jack is not present. After spending the first chapter after arriving at Zou on more World Updates the arc is currently spending its time explaining the last two weeks of events on Zou, as well as some more events from Dressrosa (is this a record for fastest seguing into flashbacks in an arc?) - the current thrust of the narrative is to get everyone fully updated. Beyond that horizon, Zou is a completely blank slate, and that makes it hard for me to get invested; The main hook for readers is just getting more info - more "whats the minkpeoples beef with Wano and why did Jack want Raizou", less "we're gonna go to X and do Y" or "We're gonna look around and gradually let the islands mysteries unfold". Regarding the last part, I'll also personally argue that the Info is not given entirely organically, because a lot of it is being told to us in hefty chunks of dialogue…but I can see how showcasing Mink Culture is harder due to the circumstances. There are of course exceptions, like Carrot attacking Zoro, the eruption rain or Luffy wandering into whale forest, but I'll get back to that in a bit.
Currently I'm just waiting for a Zou plot to hook me, and in the meantime, theres not really any new character to instantly draw me in yet. The closest we have is Wanda, who has been saddled with the thankless job of looking serious, worried, being teary eyed, and being an exposition vector. Yes, she has a few cute dog-quirks, but her personality nor introduction isn't really setting my world on fire. To bring up an old old point, I just think more extended scenes with narrower focus could've gone a long way; By far my favourite Zou moment 'till now has been Ryunosuke, because quite a few pages were spent on his ascent and sacrifice. In comparison, the showcasing of the Guardians was quite minimal, with them only getting a few actual panels and fewer lines. The floating object and bananas were funny, but after that they almost literally vanish in a kinda clunkily presented transition.
Like I said, its not that things are bad or theres' no potential, quite the contrary; its kind of hard to articulate exactly what it is, but all i can say is that Odas current presentation and ordering ofevents isn't that gripping for me.
Honestly this arc interests me because it's different. It's not the standard go somewhere, find/seek conflict, defeat enemy. This New World has seemed very formulaic, with a lot of similarities to Paradise with each new island.
Already going to an island where they're treated as saviors, given a feast?. Even the other strawhats point it out.
Things seem to be laid out, Jack will return, and their will still be a battle. In the mean time We get some more world building and a pretext towards a final showdown woth Kaidou.
Sanji I with the revolutionaries?
Where is that coming from? You'd think Robin would have been contacted and left before Sanji, knowing Dragon personally
One of the funnier theories yet. He's doing something, some spy stuff maybe. He can take care of himself he's a big boy, it's like when Luffy took off ahead of everybody and Usopp started screaming about it. What does Zoro say? I can't remember the exact words but he just accepted it.
Its not like the Hero Association doesn't show a precedence of ignoring talent. Can't remember the chapter, but when the author explains S-Class Heroes, he says that these are people who force their way in. Even if they're ignored, the bodies keep piling up and they had to create the S-Class.
Its something like that, they used WatchDogMan as the hero for this example. Doesn't seem like much, but he keeps defeating villains.
Or maybe I'm remembering wrong.
@Mr.:
I'm still expecting some sort of Celestial Dragon-led illuminati to show up out of nowhere once it looks like Blackbeard is all we have to worry about because at least as far as Dragon is concerned, the CDs are their mortal enemies. They are both highly intel-based faction.
However it is very likely that Blackbeard's goals will mesh in some way beyond the current Sabo vs BB surrounding Ace's death.
Do the CDs have ancient weapons? I figure they have to have some sort of trump card and its the reason they remain in power.
Coby is currently a Captain. As revealed in the Volume 68 SBS.
not bad that's doing well for yourself in the marines.
Exactly. When the eye-trouble was first brought up way-back-when it was described as though Takamura had a "mosquito" buzzing around his eye.
Wonder if he's developing a cataract. It starts off small but gets worse with time.
Its a weakness not bring able to see a big left. Wonder how hes going to cope with film out.
sure admiral or legend i think so too, but remember when luffy fought Kuzan, he was no match. but do you really think the admirals in the Marinford war would have been a match for Roger, Rayleigh and Edward in their Younger days? Coby is growing mabe even Quicker than Luffy but Luffy and the others are as well, they are not stagnant, the gap as shown was tremendous even before the skip, at the rate the strawhats are going and for the purpose of the story will Coby catch up even when he attains the rank of admiral? That would be a surprise to me, but hey Oda does give them, his story.
Those that are weak tend to grow at a more exponential rate then those that are strong. Similar to say pokemon, its easier to level up at level 5 then it is at say 55. But I agree I don't think he's even near Luffy or even Sanji.
He's an original in the OP world, he's the first guy to find Luffy, and the first one changed and reborn due to his influence. He also had a major appearance during the war, and his interruption of battle saved countless lives. He's going to be a player in the events to come.
He's going to stand up to Luffy once he sees him to test his mettle, but I don't think its going to be a crazy fight either.
Personally I think he takes Garp's mantle as a new hero of the marines. I don't think he's at VA level yet, but I'm sure he's moved up the ranks, possibly Rear Admiral? Depends on his grasp of Haki, but it seems his Kenboshuku(?) is very powerful. Not even accounting for a devil fruit, although it seems he may follow in Garp's footsteps and not have one.
why did smoker growth slow so much? his fight with vergo and law and joker, all seem to show his biggest problem as to why he is so weak seems to be his mastery or lack of mastery of his fruit. things that should have be avoidable he took it to his loss. I wonder if vegapunk has something like the magical chambers in Dbz,( where a year passes in one day) will Smoker leave his visit to Vegapunk's island a new man? hope he stays relevant.
becuase as far as marines are concerned, i think apart from large fleets at this point it would be surprising if apart from, the fleet admiral, admirals and Smoker(themselves) any single active marine tries to tackle the strawhat in the way of one vice admiral and his lackey's, or lesser rank soildiers.
But mabe that was so when the Strawhats finally came back with the amount of Rear admirals ect they amassed, mabe all of The new g1 except he vice admiral in charge there moved.
I see Coby doing something.
What exactly I'm not to sure, but with his unlocking of Haki he's got potential. May just get oneshotted again, but I think he has grown exponentially since we last saw him .
I still don't get it, I mean the relationship between these to sisters. Tatsumaki doesn't want her sister sees her weakness or as a weak. On the other hand, Fubuki wants to free herself from her sister. Do they love each other or do Fubuki hates her sister and tatsumaki on the other side loves her sister (Fubuki).
I read that so I thought it might worth mentioning that Tatsumaki wants Fubuki her bitch, but I don't see it that way.
They love each other(I think) its just that Tatsu has had all the power in the relationship. Akin to say a domestic violence situation where one person is beating up another. Fubuki actually wants to leave the "relationship" though, and is being forced to stay, which is the opposite usually in battered relationships.
Fubuki thinks she can protect herself and doesn't need Tatsu, but her sister doesn't see it that way. She sees everybody else as a mere distraction, flies to be swatted. Family above all else is sacred, seemingly.
