Kinda late introduction yeah… :p Actually, I lost my password for this account... and the password for the email address I used to register the account.
So anyways, I'll just be using a new account I made instead, called BWYYWLTGHR which obviously is a much cooler name anyways.

Mmmm. A creamy peanut butter and lingonberry sandwich would probably be tasty.
Sure, if you substitute the peanut butter with blood pudding. :silly:

@xan:
Lol I didn't mean non-theists are lost souls but at least in developing countries, theism helps a bit more in tying communities together for helping each other out and not end up becoming easily frustrated with the failed workings of a state
Hahaha, I figured. Was mostly messing with you. I'm actually not in the camp of "religions are a net negative". …more like "net zero"? Hahaha. :)
All of my friends who have been to Sweden love the place! I will soon be visiting the country and be part of the lost souls myself
Really? :) Hope you'll have a good time then. And you're welcome to hit me up if you need help with anything Sweden related!

RE: Talk LGBT Issues And Be Nice About It
Most good lucks Nolus! :)
The comic leaves me curious about one topic though. So I ask the Luffy question for everyone who might know. Do you masturbate?
Well, I do yes. When I do though, I never… Fantasize about myself in the sexual acts so to speak... Dunno if that's an ace thing or not? (Wow, this is weirder to talk about than I thought.)
I should add a note too that I'm not completely asexual(nor aromantic). I could do it I guess, sex and relationships, it just seems so messy. Never been interested in it enough to give either a try. -
RE: Talk Religion And Be Nice About It
@xan:
I just skimmed through the posts and I didn't find this combo member yet: has there been anyone who was brought up in an atheist family? I see only people who have been brought up as a theist who have become an agnostic or an atheist. Sorry if I missed any of the posts above mentioning the same
I was born and raised an atheist, yes. I asked my parents once if we had any religious people in the family, and after thinking on it for a while my mother said something like "…my grandmother? Well... She mostly liked the tradition of it."
When you speak of things like religious communities, I'm like "wtf is that?" And your second point. I guess my whole family, all my friends, and good chunk of my country; all lost souls. :ninja: -

RE: Talk Religion And Be Nice About It
Grew up in a very non-religious environment, like, the most interaction I've with religion is Jehovas Witness coming by every once in a while to try and convert me. :) Most of the are nice guys but I remain an unbeliever.
More than that I guess. I believe, if that's the word, that nothing supernatural exists. -

The most important awards in science was bestowed yesterday. Yes, the glory of the Ig-Nobel prizes! :silly:
You can find this years winners HERE, 'TIS A LINK A fellow Swede managed to nab one of the prizes! Huzzah!
"LITERATURE PRIZE [SWEDEN] — Fredrik Sjöberg, for his three-volume autobiographical work about the pleasures of collecting flies that are dead, and flies that are not yet dead." My favorite though is probably the Biology prize…
"Awarded jointly to: Charles Foster, for living in the wild as, at different times, a badger, an otter, a deer, a fox, and a bird; and to Thomas Thwaites, for creating prosthetic extensions of his limbs that allowed him to move in the manner of, and spend time roaming hills in the company of, goats."
…the goat guy even got this sweet presentation video:

On second thought maybe we should never mention ths topic again :ninja:
Agreed.
Rose had to make a womb in order to have steven so… I guess pearl would have to ...
Yes, physiological stuff. :ninja:
-
RE: Steven Universe
While it would be a good parallel to Rose to show Pearl falling for a human, and then developing a greater interest in humanity and defending the earth etc, it could be an interesting development later in the show too if they broke up or if Pearl decided they couldn't be together because she's basically immortal.
…they could theoretically end their relationship the same way Rose and Greg did... :wassat:

RE: Star Trek Franchise
That's a pretty fair assessment. One thing about Star Trek series, you really don't have to watch them in any kind of order. Most of the episodes are fairly stand-alone, so you can search out what episodes are considered to be classics and watch those first.
Minus Deep Space Nine which is more interconnected.
I'd also recommend DS9 before TNG, but I'm the odd one out there. -_-' -
RE: Steven Universe
I'm with Nobody… Sorta not really though... You could definitely make the lyrics more polished. But I do not understand why you would want that. What makes Rebeccas lyrics so great to me are their sincerity, and polishing them could only take away from that.struggles to not post a song of nothing but twelve minutes of a looped line :silly:

Duuuude! Stop! It's madness!!
I read some stuff about him 'cause my father started quoting him… He does have a degree and some points from time to time. But the thing is he says such insane things that all that is just irrelevant. I don't quite understand how either since he seems... Sort of smart at least? My hypothesis is that he wants attention and fame so he can become rich or somesuch. :getlost: -
RE: Random News Article Discussion II
No i do not. I don't even live in the "bad" part of my smallish town either.
Kinda guessed as much. :P Wouldn't expect a reindeer rider and moose milker to live anywhere near such places.
But yeah it's true that they don't use that specific term, that's why i used the " " on it.
Yeah, uh, why not use the term "exposed area" instead then? You also said that ambulances don't come here without police protection… I says they do.
(links)
Oh, hey, only two of those articles mentions Tino Sanandaji, mr. "people with immigrant background will be in majority by 2025".
But on the other stuff in the links, you know the other side of that story…[Inserted Swedish hate-cop music]

[/hide]Doesn't have to be something that affects you as a person, but when the police and rescue services flag like this, that they can't guarante the safety of their officers, then i for one feel that it's not something to be brushed aside as it's "just a shitty suburb", like this was normal behaviour.
I didn't say "just". I know it can be bad, I've seen some of the stuff you talk about. But I see it as normal… Maybe I'm wrong, if these police dudes could cough up some statistics I'd be more prone to listen but until then... Please stop talking about "no-go zones" at least?
-
RE: Random News Article Discussion II
I think the Swedish police currently acknowledges about 50 or so "no go zones", now people differ on how much that description really entails, but it atleast means that the rule of law is less than the 100% certainty the authorities would like it to be.
May I ask if you live in one of these "no-go zones" or visit them often? I live in one since over a decade ago, in one of the "especially exposed areas" even, and I have friends who live in others too. In my experience… Well, the cops seem to go here a whole lot for a no-go zone. I see ambulances and fire fighters coming here regularly without police protection too. (Even when they, like, perhaps should have, like when the neo-nazi drug lab in an apartment next-door caught fire. :getlost: Man... the smell...)
Dunno what my experience count for but, eh, even the police don't call it a "no-go zone", they call it "exposed areas". It's shitty suburbs is what it is I say. :ermm: -
RE: Forced Listening Thread
Well, I'm really not sure about this one. Let's start with something I'm sure about, the music is… Alright I guess. Nothing too interesting about it but, eh, you know.
Where I get unsure is what the hell they are trying to say with the lyrics. In the beginning it sorta sounds like they hate hipsters/left people, but then they you get into some self-hating leaving me thinking they could be talking about themselves from the start. I don't know whats worse, if they are or if the aren't. Any which ways it's to much hate for me.
...on the other hand... They really do manage to put some feeling into it so I guess that's good at least! :)Renaldo and the Loaf - Songs For Swinging Larvae

Well, Tom didn't mention that that guy, in fact, is the guy known as Eglamore… :v
This is a running gag in the Gunnerkrigg Court webcomic. By Tom. That guy that wrote that thing. But, man, tomorrow should be here already. I wanna know what's up with Parley, has she like unlocked her superstrength and stuff or is she like missing both her arms? O_O

About "Hit the Diamond"
! freaking amazing episode! @_ @ But, hm, what's I'm thinking is that the Ruby Gang weren't sent by Yellow D/Homeworld. I assumed that they were, like, renegades… Possibly fired from gem-kind by Jasper when they clowned up a mission she was leading. Or somesuch to similar effect.
Dude,
! you need to pay closer attention! They clearly state that they are on a mission from YD.
[embarrassed] Buh, buh, but… :'( -

RE: What are you watching? (TV)
Wynonna Earp, so it's like a supernatural modern western story… I guess. The blurb goes something like Wynonna Earp is the descendant of Wyatt Earp who has inherited his demon killing gun. Based on the comic of the same name.
It's a fun story with sorta Whedon dialogue and that ways only seven episodes out yet but I'm totally hooked. :) -
RE: Random News Article Discussion II
The worst part about that clip is how they eat it straight out of the can, brine and all. It's like someone heard that a chili was a nice dish, eats a whole handfull of habaneros straight up and complains that this dish is terrible. That and how they don't open the can under running water.
I never open it under running water or in a bucket of water or whatever my self. Just angle the can a little and open it at the top, where the gas will have collected. No spraying or anything and no messing about with water. It's the pro way… try it man. :)

RE: Forced Listening Thread
Whadda blast from the past! :v I believe I've listened to these guys before even. Used to be really into this kinda of industrial, or whatevs, back in the day. This is more metal than I'm used to, but no matter, it's still nostalgic and fine.
Everything I liked about this sort of music back then is true for these guys. It's harsh and hard and rather than apologize for that fact they are instead possibly apologizing for not making it even harsher and harder. :p
Drums just rattling, guitars imitating a broken alarm and shit just blaring all over, what is there not to like? :)
Video feels sorta generic(for the genre) though, but eh.The Monks - Oh, How To Do Now

RE: What are you watching? (TV)
Oh, that. He's not, really. That's just how they see it because they're a tight knit community that's been abused and subjugated, and of course they'll be very "if you're not for us, you're against us", but Miller is just doing a job. He's a survivalist, he's seen a lot of shit go down and he isn't going to take the belter's side of things just because he was born there. Think of an inner city kid becoming a police officer and how he might be viewed by the shady neighbors he might have grown up with.
The difference is that an inner city is not an independent actor, they are an integral part of another. The belt and outer planets however are independent, so the situation is more like, say, the American Revolution.
-
RE: What are you watching? (TV)
I know what the word means, I just don't know what you're referring to exactly. I guess I missed something.
Uh, I dunno how you could… It's like one of the most important parts of him? The very first scene with him he gets called "well walla"... "Traitor to my people."
-
RE: What are you watching? (TV)
Well, I didn't say Jim, I said Alex, who is not very white or goody two-shoes. He seems kind of like the Ringo of the ship, kind of the goofy everyman type of guy.
I don't know what you mean about quisling.Hahaha, shit I messed up doubly. Alex I can understand more. …and quisling means "collaborator"/"traitor". We use it kinda frequently in Sweden and I assumed it was sorta well known in English too. ._.
I guess. I'm not sure what it was in the beginning that made him so loyal to Naomi but then lost it.
I'm not sure about anything about him. :p
! But it seems he lost his respect for her when she admitted that she had kept the fact that Holden logged the distress call from him… He said something like, "why didn't you tell me? ...because you were afraid of me." ... I'm thinking that it might have been that he was loyal to her because she simply wasn't afraid of him? Well, no, there's probably more to it. <_<
-
RE: What are you watching? (TV)
As always with an ensemble, people gravitate towards different characters for different reasons. We probably wouldn't agree on favorite Strawhat members, for instance.
Yeah, which is as it should be. Can't have all people going around agreeing all the time, it would be like having an army of oneself. Can't have it, can hardly stand myself all by myself.
Mostly curious about what you liked about those two. Like, to me, Jim seems like your typical(white, male, goody two shoes and so on) main character… While Joe... I dunno if can see past the quisling part. :getlost:I like how Amos is so nonchalant about what he does. He's rarely conflicted.
I like how I haven't got a clue about what the hell that guy is thinking even after a whole season. Hahaha. :) I guess he's some sort of psychopath with his own set of rules?
