RE: 587: ''Clash! Law vs. Vice-Admiral Smoker''
Fairly excited for this one, especially with the breaks that the anime has had lately.
! I'm ready to see Smoker get punked… hazard by Law.
! I kinda wish Luffy was the first character that actually defeats Smoker for the first time (payback cause the VA has always to outmacth Luffy) and having Luffy discussing with Smoker when they party. However, Law pretty much ruined all these potential awesome moments and as well as this arc.
-
RE: 587: ''Clash! Law vs. Vice-Admiral Smoker''
Toei knows that they can't f that one. Otherwise, they are likely gonna lose a big portion of the anime watchers in Japan (the fangirls and teenage boys that is).
! This was undeniabely the coolest fight among the terrible ones of this arc (not very good from the series standards)

RE: One Piece Overrated?
Exactly. The realities of life. We hide the truth like were in shame of it, but kids are just going to find out about these truths anyway. Kids still run around and pretend to play war and sword fight all the time. It's just such a joke to lie like kids like this. Them seeing Helmeppo pointing a gun at Coby and that's too much for them to handle? Oh god…
Agreed, and yes they have have to deal with it sooner or later. They have to accept that there is a balance to everything (love and hate, happiness and sorrow) and they can't erase an emotion because it is seemingly bad but sometimes necessary to improve. Speaking of realities check this out its really interesting.

RE: Things That You Would Like to See in the Manga
@Foxy:
This.
I can't wait to see what happens with Kuma. He is one of the most interesting characters in One Piece.
I kinda wish Zoro to be the one to take him down in the the Vegapunk arc.
I have VERY high expectations for this arc cause I want:
- The island to be full of insane booby traps.
- Insane animals cyborgs rampage non stop.
- Enhanced PX fights and all the straw hats fight.
- Franky vs Vegapunk in sentai mode of course.
- Zoro vs Real enhanced Kuma.
- Luffy vs Sentoumaru.
- Kuma's background and a friendship with Vegapunk.

RE: New Naruto Game - Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3
I have seen the walkthrough (the most exciting ones) and I must say that Cyberconnect actually manages to make the 4th ninja war look awesome… which is not an easy feat.
The studio better make some One Piece game considering how the anime is butchering classic scenes. Heck, I bitch about QTE (interactive movie) but give me a rengoku onigiri by Cyber connect anytime.

RE: One Piece Overrated?
I just don't get why America always dumbs down anime, censors all the good stuff, and then censors even more shit that doesn't even need to be censored!

I am guessing that parents could sue the channels if kids see this. I do recall recall that Midway got sued because of MK in the 90s.
edit Yeah its not like violence existence before games were created. I guess we are obsessed with protecting kids from the harsh realities of life. Ironically, my most memorable animated series experience were the saddest like Bruce Wayne being a sad, old and lonely man. Seeing Batgirl seemingly die in an episode, Jubilee being discriminated and unwanted, Peter Parker feeling remorse for letting his uncle die, people showing a form of racism against mutants etc…

RE: One Piece: Kaizoku Musou 2 (PS3 and PSVita)
COrrect me if I am wrong but FI is nowhere to be seen :ninja: (knew it would happen).
I am not surprised that Law is on the back of the cover to attract the 14 years old teenage boys and fangirls. Seeing him on the cover pretty much turns me off from purchasing the game.

RE: One Piece Overrated?
4kids killed it for America…
Have you noticed how 4kids opening avoided showing all the weird animals ( they assumed that it could turn off people) ? Why don't they let us decide that what we like instead of thinking that we all love shitty rap music ?
-
RE: Metal Gear Solid V: Survive is some real far waters exploitation
I think this is all quite genius. I mean, it's obvious this is all a big game by Kojima, but damn if it isn't a fun ride.
And yeah, speaking as a Swede, that accent sound fairly fake. But yet genuine at the same time. I'm kinda conflicted.
That's definetely his style. Remember the unskippable stupid (sadly realistic) ads when we started MGS4 (it kinda illustrated how the world of MGS created by the patriots looks like apart from the main story).
-
RE: One Piece Overrated?
I wouldn't say it's underrated in America, but rather just unfortunately very overlooked. I do think Punk Hazard was pretty overrated though, and the series as a whole to a lesser extent.
We can thank 4kids for what it did to the series .Toei should have been careful about how we are crazy regarding censorship and retarded lawsuits. Once someone screws your reputation, its hard to redeem yourself (thank god the internet exists). It seems that One Piece is getting the attention it deserves in Europe (I heard the French will even release the film Z).
I agree that the PH arc is overrated as hell. There is just too much for too little
- Too many good characters for 3 just main villains who all could have been one shot and therefore this arc should have lasted not more than half a year.
- Trafalgar f****** Law overdose with his plotope no mi fruit and no genuine reason for us to care for him
- Straw Hats running 80 percent of the arc.
- Boring and wasted fights that ends in one shot.
- Smoker and Tashigi (that I give a shit about) being humiliated, useless and pointless to the plot and to hype Law.
- Oda putting Nami in a bikini top even in winter time. The fanservice is too much.
FI is actually pretty good but still a B for me.
-
RE: "western propaganda" according to North Korea
I still wonder how NK can afford a nuclear program and its leaders extravagant living expenses. Shouldn't their regime die from their lack of effectiveness of their economic system like the soviet block ?

RE: Untitled
Yeah, that scene was very well done and shows how well she understood how he felt. I loved the scene in the house, when she spoke about Luffy as well. It just shows how much she cares about him. Love the intimacy between them as well, she seems to let her guard down around him more than anyone else. As for Nami resembling Rouge (at least the hair), who knows if it's a coincidence. I mean I doubt it, but only Oda knows for sure.
Also, I did not know that Hina got Smoker out of trouble. Makes me like the pairing even more
I was not even surprised that she cried for him. Its interesting that Oda depicted Hancock crying for Luffy but it did not have the same impact. Imo, she seemed insignificant, cannot exactly inderstand what he is going through and not knowing how to deal with it. Nami seems like a heartless bitch but she truly has a heart of gold (no pun intended). God, the moment when Nami holds no grudge and forgives for Jinbe (who cries) is one of all my all Nami favourite moments and singlehandly makes the FI arc good. Moreover, I loved the moment when she tried to persuade from not fighting Usopp because it reminded me of a typical wife and husband scene (the man being a jerk and not listening).
Concerning Smoker and Hina, I just love the scene when she said that she is mad at Smoker cause he was genuinely happy when the straw hats escaped from her and she did not seem to mind that much.
SHip Zoro and Tashigi too, they are just fun together and I love the way they bicker like an old married couple. I mean Robin and Zoro is sorta boring.

The filibuster, simultaneously one of the most disgusting and one of the most hilarious weapons in Congress's arsenal.
You are focusing on the what. Maybe, you should look on why he did it and then decide for yourself (he is republican but you never know).

RE: How Hollywood is gonna make One Piece "better"
General reply
The thing is that Hollywood just wants to makes easy money in the short run with a low budget and just using the name of the franchise. That's how they operate because they lack vision. I know damn well that they are gonna eff up the Metal gear movie adaptation and contradict everything about its story (games are considered inferior but its story was literally ahead of its time) . Isn't that comical that Clooney says that they are ahead of the curve but totally despise the culture of other countries
You definetely need a dedicated, fan and great director to make it work.
-
RE: Untitled
I will ship LuNa forever <3
Ship it as well. I just love the way they interact with each other. There is an intimacy that they have, I just love the scene where Nami cries for Luffy after Ace's death and she knew how exactly he was feeling and what to do. I just love the way Oda depicted her emotions and made a paralell to her own childhood. I wonder if it is a coincidence that she looks a lot like Rouge.
SHip Smoker and Hina. Oda told in an SBS that she got him out of troubles when he was acting against order. In addition, I just love the way they interact. Boy, I would hardly say no for a girl that would go that far for me.
-
RE: Metal Gear Solid V: Survive is some real far waters exploitation
Or it could mean that Solid Snake could make an appearance in the game.
I would prefer that he stays because he was the voice of the Snakes since 1998 and I just love it. It would not be the same without him. Overrall, I think his best performance was in MGS2.Richard Doyle could make a logical replacement. I did like Cygan's voice for Solidus, he was really passionate.
-
RE: How Hollywood is gonna make One Piece "better"
Get Shia Labeouf to play Luffy.
Then you'll have a grade-A turd film on your hands.
I did not have to torture myself through the transformers flicks. How the heck did they make a billion revenue out of this turd ? Has the world gone so stupid that it begs for a new world war ?
I only saw Shia in Indiana Jones and I thought he did an ok job and it depends on the director and the quality of the script.I imagine that they would call it "One Piece Revolution" and its gonna look like a mix of
this
Except its Luffy played by Ben Stiller wearing a reverse cap in a yatch with bad rap.
This
The ost might look something like this.
And Usopp will be played by Ken Jeong.
-
How Hollywood is gonna make One Piece "better"
Eventually, One Piece is gonna have a live action film.
Imagine every possible way Hollywood is gonna eventually screw it up because they are Hollywood and hoping for a good One Piece film is delusional.
Unleash yourselves.

RE: One Piece 701: Adventure in nation of Love, Passion, and Toys.
Naturally, Oda really loves to show Japanese figures in a good light (Samurais being shown as honorable ) and in a way he is promoting his culture (just like everyone else).
-
RE: What are you Playing?
I ended buying the new Simcity and even with the negative players' reviews, it's a good game, though not really worthy for how much it costs. The previous Simcity games aren't complex as this one is (which is awesome on how complex it's), but they gave you more space so you could have more freedom while building a city.
Also I finished We Love Katamari but I screwed up in the credits when I was supposed to let the Sun roll everything except for the prince :PI have only played the first Sim City a little but it looks pretty damn addictive (I can't allow that at the moment) and the theme of the first game was really good
-
RE: One Piece 701: Adventure in nation of Love, Passion, and Toys.
It seems that the island looks like Spain (flamengo dancers, hair style) and a bit italian (puppets and pasta).
Fun and cool chapter. Monosuke's expressions with the ladies crack me up.

RE: Confession Session - LOCK THIS THREAD
@No:
I realy agree with you on this, I find Law to be shallow and a poser, who secretly obsesses about how "cool" he is.
I kinda hate Buggy for pretty much the same reasons as you mention with Law, as in people praise the ever living fuck out of Buggy when he's simply there for comic relief and everything he does just further cements how pretty much anyone could beat his face in at this point. This is hugely aided by the fact the anime decided to fill up their "less then one chapter" episodes during ID with constant callbacks to Buggy, the "highlight" being showing him and fifty other people taking a piss.
Heck I wanna see more of Alvida, she's supposed to be partnered with Buggy but she's had like three panels of screentime since Ace showed up on Buggy's ship.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh I definitely was.
But then he got taken out with "I was realy totally awesome and capable to PWN you at any time, look at how cool I am as I cut you down !"
Thank you ! Cries I am not alone.
If you give me the choice between who I like the most between Usopp and Law, its obviously Usopp. I admit Usopp he is not my favourite character but I could not help but feel so happy during the TS when he stopped the volcanic rocks when Zoro could not. It was really heartwarming especially after all the shit he went through (especially during W7 arc). I think the reason why I love Usopp is that because the feeling of being a failure and not be worty of the people we care are things that we all went through in lives. That's why I just savour every moments when he is awesome and they automatically become classic One Piece moments for me.
Buggy sorta annoys me as well. I don't know why Oda loves him so much. He is not that interesting but at least he does make me laugh.
@unclekenny To me his character feels like a last minute addition because some assistant said that it would be awesome to have cool rivals to the straw hats. The supernovas literally came out of nowhere and I don't think they were originally part of the story. When he created them, he obviously had to create to some kind of connection to the main plot. I mean heck, the naruto fillers made money of this except that Oda is exponentially more talented for character design and how to integrate them into the story. However, they are taking too much space into the story. In consequence, you are gonna see a lot of straw hats doing next to nothing during an arc (they are the main characters !).
@miyamotomusashi I do admit that he some fun moments but I really want him out of the story cause he had too many awesome moments for a whole year. Oda is giving him too much for he really is worth as a character.
-
RE: Confession Session - LOCK THIS THREAD
I suppose you were happy when Vergo was beating the living daylights out of him?
Unfortunately, Vergo had his heart so his honor was saved.
-
RE: Confession Session - LOCK THIS THREAD
@Foxy:
Most people seem to either love or hate him, but I'm indifferent to him.
I used to be indifferent of him as well but the way fan overfangasm was starting to piss me off little by little. They are thinking that he is a first rate character but he is not cause I can't give a damn about him cause he has basically no character arcs (in order for me to root for him). For instance, Law rescuing Luffy felt like such an asspull. It pretty much came to a headwith the way Oda dumped Smoker and Tashigi for this punk.
-
RE: Confession Session - LOCK THIS THREAD
Nothing too serious and not really a secret.
! I hate Trafalgar Law with a passion and the especially the way fans overfangasm over him for very superficial reasons. Its just some thug that crashes the party and people love him because he has an awesome car

Fortunately, it's just the usual cold thingy, so I'll be okay in a few days.
Eat vegetables and fruit as well.

RE: Talk Racism Issues And Be Nice About It
This was already posted some pages back. At the end people deemed that MF was wrong, and that conversation is imperative to solve the race issue, not keeping hush hush about it
On the one hand, Freeman seems to be implying that we should put emphasis on individuality hence why he wants people to call themselves by name and associate adjectives to a person (this Tom guy is a jerk, that Matt guy is cool).
However, I do agree that not talking about it won't solve the issue and that it is important to remember it but not to misinterpret it (hence the RE5 incident). -
RE: Talk Racism Issues And Be Nice About It
Nah I'm not generalizing, because I've stated numerous times that there are Blacks that both want to be referred as AA and like to associate themselves with Africa
I usually prefer to refer people by names in order to avoid troubles. Racism is pretty much the lack of individual criteria.
People seem to be oversensitive to racism nowadays. Calling RE5 racist because you are shooting africans is beyond retarded. I played the game and I don't feel like becoming racist cause its just a game. Racism and violence have existed back before games were even created. I would have raised the red flag if the game stated things like "black people are all inferior and stupid, the N word and so on."

RE: 586: ''Big Trouble! Luffy Sinks into the Frozen Lake''
Only occurred to me today that Law has the potential to become the biggest troll in the One Piece world, what with his DF power and everything.
His Df can basically do EVERYTHING. Its so obnoxiously broken. His power should be renamed the "plotope plotope no mi fruit".
What bothers me the most is that he doesn't seem have to work hard for his abilities. His power may be the biggest troll (to me) since the Sharingan.
Its more annoying that that the guy does not have a character or character arcs in order for to root for him.
-
RE: 586: ''Big Trouble! Luffy Sinks into the Frozen Lake''
Man, lol, I can see the anime is doing a great job in not wanting me to start watching it again.
Seriously, I know i'm continuing the broken record but… maaaaaaan... what a wasted opportunity.
What One Piece fan would not enjoy something like that? Hearing Kazuki Yao impersonating Nami? I would have been in stitches.
Maybe, they wanted the kids watching the show to avoid confusions.
-
RE: 586: ''Big Trouble! Luffy Sinks into the Frozen Lake''
Here's another thing I need to "bitch" about this episode:
When Nami swaps into Franky's body… the First thing she notices is that her "breasts feel lighter"..... like seriously? She didn't notice the weight of Franky's FUCKING HUGE ARMS? What is this show teaching kids :(
Don't encourage more stupid censorship. It is a freaking mess in the states and it almost killed One Piece with 4kids.
-
RE: 586: ''Big Trouble! Luffy Sinks into the Frozen Lake''
Basically, Toei extends Zoro vs Hody but can't extend Law vs Tashigi (which would have been great).
Toei is faithful to the manga when I don't want it. F*** you Toei.

Did Oda redraw Tashigi's picasso nose from chapter 687 when she looks up against Monet ? It is as if Oda started drawing Robin by accident.

RE: What is your favourite arc?
@metteminne:
I'll just vote East Blue , don't ask me why but I always loved it a damn lot and some of my fav villians are introduced
East Blue too. I still prefer it because the straw hats all get great character development and motivation. Classic moments such as the Arlong Parc walk, Sanji thanking Zeff, Zoro vs Mihawk and so on.
I really prefer Nami with short hair and was less fanservice. However, I hate PH arc with a passion for screwing up Smoker and Tashigi.

RE: New Naruto Game - Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3
Not to mention the point that Kishi's art has deteriorated to the point where Sakura just looks like Suigetsu but with pink hair
I think it got even worse recently. The females look horrible. I can't even recognize Shizune anymore. Kishi only cares about Sasuke and the Uchihas. God, Kishi and his one page Sasuke reaction shot.
I think the bad writing of the female is what upsets me the most. Hinata exists only for the shipper fest and fans love her for that which is an insult to her wishing to become stronger physically (she should have shown signs of being more assertive little by little). Whatever happened to Sakura becoming even better than Tsunade (Heck I wanted to see that and not a effing overdose of sharingan darkness) which is a proof about how bad the story is conceived.
-
RE: New Naruto Game - Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3
Since it's Sakura we're talking about it's probably supposed to be manly.
Less than a week left until I can get my hands on this goodness of a game. So looking forward to playing it.
I have to admit that she was really attractive when she was redeeming herself at the start part 1 (showing empathy for Naruto, being nicer to him, kicking ass). I especially love the fight against Sasori cause she shows determination, courage, endrurance, self sacrifice and toughness (Something Oda lacks with his female characters). I thought all these elements made her hot to me. However, Kishi did a total 180 degree and butchered her character to make Hinata end up with Naruto because fans wanted that.
-
RE: Things That You Would Like to See in the Manga
Less Law… Oh wait I guess not sigh...
It is as if Oda is reading my posts and is intentionnally doing this to piss me off.
-
RE: One Piece: Kaizoku Musou 2 (PS3 and PSVita)
The attention to detail of the game (to the manga) is incredible. I loled at Garp sleeping in mid fight.
-
RE: New Naruto Game - Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3
Epic video! I wonder how much further the game goes after this battle, or perhaps this is the game's final boss? I also noticed in the video that Raikage has both his arms! What the hell!? Just kidding I don't care really. I downloaded the US demo today and enjoyed it, I am convinced on buying this game for sure now.
Impressed by the demo as well. There are times I felt that it was more like an interactive movie than a game due to the insane cinematic experience (I think the Kaizokou that aspect to be even better imho).
-
RE: One Piece 700 : His Pace
I am kinda confused.
Did Law really leave CC in Green Bit or was it a lie and they are heading to Dressrossa?
-
RE: Talk Racism Issues And Be Nice About It
I sort of feel bad sometimes as a black person. Because having pride in being black is at the very bottom of my interests. I have a hodgepodge ancestry anyways I never really felt that knowing of people I never met or knew I would exist to matter much. I suppose though it's important for medical purposes.
That's really good. Being able to decide for yourself what you want to be is great.
-
RE: One Piece: Kaizoku Musou 2 (PS3 and PSVita)
Dat coc haki blast… Woah !!!
I am genuinely well impressed. I mean it was boring in the anime but it was awesome there.
-
RE: One Piece 700 : His Pace
Become a subordinate of the organization responsible for the death of his Captain and fellow Commander/friend?
lol
I am putting my money on Capone. That seat sorta fits him. I cannot see Drake and Urouge having that role.
About Ace's fruit… Its a tough one. One the one hand, it is a fruit and not Ace's personality. Therefore, Luffy should not give a damn. However, I wonder if Luffy could consider it as precious as Shanks hat (its still a memory of his beloved brother). I wonder if Blackbeard might have an interest.

RE: Metal Gear Rising
Hi, i'm one of those people who doesn't like the music.
Watched a let's play.
It's not that it takes one out of the action… I just think it's bad music. Some of the tracks weren't bad, but the vocals didn't synch with me.
The idea of contextual music is great... have always loved seeing games do that.
I won't call myself a Metal Gear purist/elitist. MGS4 was the last of that for me. And if a game is fun, then more power to you. It's just that the series is known for having great music. So hearing Rising is just such a harsh contrast. True that the action is amped up... so obviously the ost needs to be faster and intense... I dunno, I suppose it's just easier to say it's a matter of preference and taste. I don't like the hardcore vocals.
And the story is.... wait... i'll stop.
Agreed there. The contrast in style is too much. I mean Zoe2 was action packed but it felt that it rally felt like a Kojima game in terms of music, story and atmosphere. Jeez Dmc3 was crazy in every way but it had a right balance. Rising is just too much for me and the QTE cutscenes were just plain stupid and I thought in 4 it was a bit too much. but this is overkill.
Ground Zeroes is the one that you should be looking foward (dat dark atmosphere and engaging storyline).
However, I did like the codec calls.
-
RE: Metal Gear Rising
I have only watched a few parts of the playthough and the game looks fun and energitic. However, am I the only one who thinks its atmosphere is rather empty, uninspired and boring.
I mean if you compare to Ground Zeroes atmosphere and style (great environments, super dark and rainy tone). To me, nothing beats the old and classical style (I love sneaking in cinematic style) of the MGS games and Snake is a lot more fun.
-
RE: Metal Gear Solid V: Survive is some real far waters exploitation
Just because the majority of blockbuster games that get advertised to hell and back are FPS' doesn't mean there's still not a variety of games coming out. There's still lots of JRPGs, RTS', action games, TPS', etc. I personally like FPS games so them being the majority doesn't bother me. Crysis 3 just came out and while it's not as good at it as the first Crysis was it still isn't as "dudebro" as CoD is. People who say there's no variety in gaming today in my experience don't ever look any further than what's shoved in their faces by advertisements. It's a similar situation as people who say there's no good music anymore.
Kojima's just being a drama queen and/or trying to get publicity. I'm pretty excited for this game and MGS5/Phantom Pain.
Sure, there is still variety but was I dissapointed non stop by some of my favourite series that I pretty much quit gamings in general. Time crisis went downhill, Dmc…, Final Fantasy, Ridge Racer, Tekken (the shitty endings in 5 made me quit the series), Parasite Evil, Resident Evil, reboots in general, Soul Calibur, Marvel vs capcom, Super street fighter 4 (Akuma becoming Taz) and so on.
Somehow, the MGS (the ones made by Kojima) series always manages to surprise me and interest me. I mean seeing Solid Snake being old and vulnerable was one of the boldest decision in gaming ever (f the stupid japanese high school girls and their shitty polls). He is indeed an artist and not a greedy ahole and it feels that he is indeed the type who will not hesitate to go against the flow and being himself (a theme of the series).
Maybe you are right, maybe its a way to advertise himself. However, the idea that this MGS or even the rest of the series being cast out did not come out as a surprise tbh and I am afraid that it may truly happen. Somehow, I have the feeling that even if the game is released, mainstream critics will bash the game (for the most superficial known reasons) even if you think this is one of the greatest games ever made but that opinion only belongs to you.
However, I am truly happy that you won't forget this timeless series and maybe that's the most important thing.
-
RE: Metal Gear Solid V: Survive is some real far waters exploitation
Saying 'there are a lot' doesn't mean much when there's still a wide variety of games from each genre. I also doubt it'll be any more taboo than anything we've already seen. Theme-wise, there was plenty of stuff back in the 90s when graphics weren't quite as clear. If he's referring to having the U.S. as an enemy, Spec Ops: The line and Alpha Protocol(to a point) have done that. That's just off the top of my head. Child soldiers I'm sure is somewhere if you want to look for it, and in the Walking Dead game, you teach a child to defend herself. Any grusome death has probably been done worse in a horror game.
….What is the setting anyway?
The variety seems to be fading. Nowadays, I see fps ads like 80 percent of times (big guys with guns looking cool) Everything seems to be more action and I often hear that in high school that they only talk about FPS. Even the great RE series tried to please the cod fanboys at the expense of real fans like me because "it sucks to have fixed camera with bad controls and who cares if its not scary anymore !". "Power to the player" phrase is full of bs because they are just consumers (cod fanboys) not artists or game designers . Ask them what's a low, high and dutch angle shost and they won't have any clues. I don't think they advertise FPS or TPS based on feeling bad about killing other people and more on how cool it looks.
Its really sad that most of them won't get the chance to play MGS1. I mean there are players who admitted that they felt bad for kiling Wolf or letting Meryl die and having empathy for Snake's internal struggle.
Things like empathy, humility sorrow and joy are things that should be passed on (especially arrogant teenagers) they were even more intense than in a fim because we were the actors. In a nutshell, MGS has always been more about the story and the consequences of your action (war).I am not saying that playing FPS will turn you into a violent psycho but teenagers ususally can't think for themselves by being so narrow minded and following the flow.
Regarding the setting… oh come on its pretty obvious unless you have been living under a cave.
