Also, Phoenix is looking downright pissed in that new pic.
Well, of course he is. Mountains are his greatest weakness.
There's a lot of mention to spirituality in this town, so we may expect to meet with a certain spirit medium as well.

What recurring plot?
The fourth and the fifth cases (the latter which was added to Yomigaeru Gyakuten) are the only ones whose plots directly tie into one another.
Simply put, what was the reason Phoenix became an attorney in the first place? If he only wanted to "help" people, he didn't need to become one. This is a story about his first year as an attorney and what he managed to accomplish just in his first year. It's not merely a collection of random cases he takes.
Granted, the plot isn't most visible until the 4th case, where Phoenix actually gets to approach Edgeworth from a more personal point of view, rather than as an antagonist. Up until then, though, he constantly drops hints regarding what his goal of being a lawyer was. Mia, actually more so during the third case, stays around to help guide him, since he's still a rookie. She doesn't appear until a very critical point in the 4th case, but not just as a plot device. It goes to show that he was only able to hold his own that far without her help (and even then, he only got there because Larry managed to drag things out).
There's even a moral for each case, just like a collection of Aesop's fables, but they're not nearly as scattered as those fables. It's quite impressive story writing if you think about it.
The first game didn't really have a plot since each case was standalone with it's own story and characters.
Excuse my rudeness, but this is some of the most superficial BS I have read in a while. The cases themselves are standalone, yes, but there is a recurring plot that ties directly into the main characters' developments.
In any case, I wasn't arguing over whether its quality is above or below others in the series; rather, speaking objectively about its impact toward holding up the series and its room for growth and expansion. The example with GS5 was completely unrelated, but it was an offhand example used in comparison.
Takumi didn't direct Apollo Justice. He just made Hobo Nick but everything else was not his, since he considers the series over with his trilogy, everything else is just a fan fiction.
I never said he was the director; but he was invited as a guest scenario writer for the game. They just left his name in the credits as "special thanks". A few of his drafts for Apollo Justice were revealed in one early interview with him back in 2008 (can't recall which one right now). One of which detailed a very different 4-3, where Daryan Crescend was more fully developed as a villain character and was scheduled to appear prior to that case. The incident would have left a heavy scar on Klavier and added to his character as well. Granted, it was just a rough draft, so no details were confirmed.
GS4 wasn't exactly rushed in terms of the deadline; but it was rushed in terms of how messily the plot was resolved. If Takumi had earned plenty more time to review over his scenarios and maybe even include some ideas he had previously cut, it may have turned out to be very different and maybe even more well-received. Maybe.
GS5's case, though, was that it was green-lit but then delayed for so long; they had to bring it out sooner. Yet, it was the localization of that game which was legitimately rushed, with all the typos in the game by official release.
Speaking of mob cross-examinations, they're back in DGS. Even the new Jury battles are built upon that same concept. As usual, the "press everything" strategy is in tandem with victory.
More details @ Court-Records.
Check out the beautiful updated site. Whew~
Lovely, lovely finale; been waiting on Varrick & Zhu Li doing the thing, and Meelo actually did something I am so proud to have been witness to. Not to sound obnoxious, but there's still something I want to complain about anyway. Why didn't they let Kuvira's final words to Korra be more meaningful? All I heard was "You don't understand anything, wah wah wah." At least justify why she had to keep up that insane assault with something like "If I had stopped halfway, everything I've struggled for up to now would have been pointless." Then, I may have sympathized with her more.
Finally caught up, including Ch 95. I like the progression into a three-way final, but I can't help but feel that sort of "been there, done that" feeling behind the approach. I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing a winner though.
! Most important factor in this match, as Fumio-san mentions, is "timing". The freshness of the saury will change depending on when it is seasoned. I see Soma's caught on, but the other two seem to be getting a little ahead of themselves.
Speaking of which, this situation among the three reminds me of that old Chinese parable about the stork, the clam, and the farmer. Hayama's the stork, Kurokiba's the clam, and Soma's the farmer. If those two aren't careful, they're going to be caught in a net.
! Kinda glad it seems Soma "stuck" to his style of cooking and in a way went "homely" by having various meats instead of having "one strong flavor" like a Gourmet dish would, at least from what I understood from the spoiler.
! Hasn't he always resorted to incorporating home-style dishes with so-called first-class cuisine? In fact, the only thing that makes this shokugeki special compared to all the others Soma has participated in is Subaru's stalking tendencies and the amusement park… which make up two of the best things in this manga as of this chapter, but I digress.
! Also, one's hubris is his foe's greatest weapon. I don't remember how many great names said something akin to this, but the lesson always hits hard.
! I did mention I wouldn't be surprised if Subaru combined the flavors of beef and bacon. I did not, however, expect what sort of image would come from that combo. Apparently, it's a beef-pork fusion wrestler who attempts to land a "cross bomber" upon the well endowed Sonoka, only to be blocked by Doujima.
! Oh, and I guess Soma's still cooking up something in an earthen charcoal brazier… or in other terms, he's making bbq. Since he didn't actually start preparing until earlier this morning, Subaru can't quite guess what he's going to do and is, gasp, actually concerned.
Here's a link to a rough transcript of the trailer, courtesy of Court Records Forums.
With that amount of twirling and synched pointing, you'd think this was a promo for their appearances on IdolM@ster.
This may be completely random, but does the guy at the top left on this page look a little like a certain defense attorney from a certain video game, or is it just me?
What are you talking about? He's clearly Layton's ancestor.
Also, official site open:
http://www.capcom.co.jp/dai-gyakuten/
! Didn't do the research on how bacon chips were made so I wasn't quite sure if that will make sense with the meat on a chain we've been shown and katakana makes me second guess myself a lot when I'm not sure of the context y.y so thx for that.
! As for that other part I think that's just highlighted comments from users. I've read some wrong stuff there before and since this didn't match with the other place I left it out.
Right, forgot that this site has a comment section like that of 2ch. Thanks for clarifying.
And just so you know,
! Chefs tend to overprepare for their cooking. They never want to risk bringing too little, and any leftovers can be saved for other stuff. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see some rather large chips from him; the fat content of that bacon, if done right, can help emphasize the flavor of the beef tail and soften it, to tame the sinew. Beef tail has very little, if any, fat. However, bacon too has a strong taste, so adding too much could end up spoiling the beefiness.
And I think I figured out Soma's plan all along.
! Cook as little as possible until Mimasaka thinks he's pretty much done and only copies him to that extent, then bring out the big guns… or meat. Brilliant.
Still no pics but barechan posted the same spoiler and they haven't posted fake ones yet since I've began frequenting that site.
86
http://www.漫画ネタバレ.biz/archives/12671638.html! Mimasaka uses in his arrangement bacon, Erina elaborates on that in her thoughts.
The bacon is smoked with mesquite tree(originating from Southern America) -> the guy who wrote this spoiler is wondering if he got that from defeating Ibusaki.
Mimasaka got most of his information by "hacking"(he stole the password) into Mitsuru's PC.
! On the other end Soma is taking out a cooler box while being glared at by Taki.
The cooler box contains a great number of meat pieces.
Soma tells the judges that he's going to take them on a trip through the "beef amusement park".
By the way, they're
! bacon chips. He's not going to add too much.
How about the post right after? The bit where it says it's "confirmed", but I'm not sure if it is.
! Especially that it talks about Taki admiring / having a crush on Soma's dad. I tend to take spoilers on these things with plenty of salt.
I didn't see a link to the scans and assumed you guys were talking about the Chinese ones, my bad. I also found the spoilers for Chapter 86 here, but as DarthAsthma mentioned, they aren't 100% confirmed yet, so take it with a grain of salt.
I'll get to translating this one then.
Link to the Chinese scans. The last few pics are wonderful.
Be right back with a summary.
@Purple:
Chapter 85's scan is out: http://casanovascans.com/read/shokugeki_no_soma/en/0/84/page/1
As expected, it seems 1) Soma needs to focus on more western sorta theme as hinted by Erina and 2) there may be a focus on Soma's sheer enjoyment of cooking versus Mimisaka's sheer tracing of cooking rather than actual cooking.
That would be chapter 84. Nonetheless, the spoilers for 85 seem to follow up, granted that they are indeed legit.
And regarding Takumi, Soma knows how torn up he feels. A good honest cooking match may be just what the doctor ordered.
Will do.
Wait, what?
! He went out of his way to point out that changing the miso alters the soup almost entirely in a previous chapter so this is a very odd development… unless the chapter points out explicitly that miso is seen as not western (guessing that's why?) or the miso's still part of it and he's just doing something else to it too.
! Guess my prediction is Subaru predicts everything Soma does until he does something that was influenced by Erina which would seem to go against his fundamental philosophy of cuisine, showing that Soma's actually growing while at school.
! The previous chapter showed Soma's moment of "WTF am I doing, he's just gonna walk all over me if I stick with this." And yes, the miso would detract from the subject: western cuisine. It was a dangerous road to follow.
! But it still slightly concerns me that Subaru's going to "copy" him anyway, despite the very little time Soma gave himself to prepare. I mean, he's not fazed at all.
To add to that summary,
! Soma goes first in the match. Erina is taken back by how adaptable Soma is. Screw the miso; he's making beef tail stew with matignon.
! When I mentioned that he stepped onto the battlefield without a plan, it was more in the way that he was going completely improv. And yet, Subaru somehow has anticipated this.
! Guys, what does this mean? We can't use the "he's going first so he's going to lose" tactic.
! And for those wondering, yes, Erina does actually like Soma's beef stew. She won't admit it out loud.
The characters on the marine artwork, they look like this, I think 茶 藤
It means green tea apparently. I should let the pro do this
It says 茶豚 Chaton, or "Brown Pig". Geg mentioned it on the previous page first.
Just read the chapter on baidu. HQ Source link.
! Soma steps onto the battlefield without a plan. Welp, Subaru's screwed.
Dang it. I knew I forgot to explain something. Where could I post it, though?
Huh, a song about Slowpoke in Kansai dialect. Welp, I'm off to do something.
@Lyrics:
How ya doin', Slowpoke?
Music: The Yahdons
Vocal: Hiro
MC: Anthony Gatlin"Hey kids! Come on down and join the fun! It's struttin' the Slowpoke Style!" etc, etc.
[HIDE]Yawn, yawn, a-yawn
How ya doin', Slowpoke?
Yawn, yawn, a-yawn
How ya doin', Slowpoke?Wakin' up from a dream
With the morning sun
And nappin' til noon
SlowpokeIts pinkish belly
Wasn't burned from the sun
That's just how it is
SlowpokeA big ol' mouth
Like a convenience store
Always wide open
SlowpokeTasting its tail
Like the treats kids can get
Sometimes on breaks
SlowpokeMotions so slow that a photo won't blur
Is that something to boast?
SlowpokeYawn, yawn, a-yawn
How ya doin', Slowpoke?
Yawn, yawn, a-yawn
How ya doin', Slowpoke?Even with its tail off
It can just grow again
No worries, brah
SlowpokeWho was caught?
The dex's name for it is
'The Dopey Pokemon'
SlowpokeStarts with a 'ya'
And ends with a 'n'
These three kana make
'yakan' [night]Fishin' with its tail
But doesn't feel it when it's got one
And doesn't feel it when it's gone
SlowpokeIf we play shiritori
With Yadon's name
We can't keep going

How ya doin', Slowpoke?
Yawn, yawn, a-yawn
How ya doin', Slowpoke? With a single yawn
the rain starts fallin'
The Rain Dancin' Legend
SlowpokeBut just earlier
There wasn't a cloud around
Is it just a legend?
SlowpokeA Shellder takin' a bite
On its tail, then Slowbro
The evo's also dopey too
SlowpokeAnywhere in the world
There's a Slowpoke for ya
There's even one behind you
SlowpokeYam toppings, moon-watching,

UdonYawn, yawn, a-yawn
How ya doin', Yadon (Udon)?
Yawn, yawn, a-yawn
How ya doin', Yadon?A big, plump berry
Drops down on its head
But it doesn't hurt
SlowpokeIts ears swirl round
Like a whirlpool…
Why is that again?
SlowpokeSuddenly, "yahn?" it says
Maybe from that berry earlier
Now it feels the pain
SlowpokeSometimes it's Slowbro
Or sometimes it's Slowking
Either way doesn't matter

Makes a full circle
It feels so satisfying

How ya doin', Slowpoke?
Yawn, yawn, a-yawn
How ya doin', Slowpoke?Slowpoke[/HIDE]
And by "something", I mean sleep. G'night, ya'll.
Watch next tournament be won because a Luvdisk.
If next year's tourney is hosted in ORAS, maybe Luvdisc could get Endure from a move tutor, so it'd have both Endure, Protect, and a Focus Sash in case Rain isn't up or it's hit with a priority move. It also gets Heal Pulse / Safeguard, so it could help out around the team. I guess the last slot could go with Hydro Pump or Scald in case of Taunt.
No, it's not the best one for this role and there are others better at it. coughAlomomolacough But it IS the fastest non-Legendary Pokemon with Heal Pulse, so that's something.

Worse still, I recently had beef minestrone stew. I think I'll just slip away and pretend I didn't read any of this.
I highly doubt One Piece is any one item. It's a treasure massive enough to draw the entire world to it, so I at the very least expect a mountain - literal if need be - of riches and secrets that could shape the world as we know it. No, I don't support destroying the Redline. That's just stupid.
As long as it doesn't turn out to be a garage sale at full discounts either, I'm down with that. Then again, if Roger collected so many things along his journey, I doubt he'd have all that junk organized.
And even then, he'd still find some way to troll his visitors. I feel it in my gut.
Surprisingly, best page of the chapter was the cover. I couldn't help but imagine Jinbe defending the little lost kitten with an outstretched finger point and shouting a single word.
My time off these forums is still well spent.
God forbid if Oda makes a side-character get a small awesome moment against one of the officers. No, only important characters should do anything.
This is like complaining about the Yama vs. Genbo fight.
I wouldn't say it's nearly as dragged out as the Skypeia arc. We're already heading toward the confrontations, along with Law's flashback at some point or another, and Oda is busy fitting everything into these chapters before the climax. I don't know if the climax really requires so much buildup, but it's good to build the hype in the meantime.
I said something along the lines of eating your children or ripping your lungs out and pouring tabasco in the wounds, but it was in humor.
Although I really would. :ninja:
I also want to gut people who refer to commercially published professional adult manga as "doujin".
Well, I hope you don't mind if I read it as "tong'ren manhua". Force of habit sometimes. :3
The main problem I have with Megumi being defeated here is that she's already come a long way from her previous matches. Certainly, it wouldn't get to her if she loses this one too, but we've already seen her in plenty of cases where she's fumbled and tossed out by the sidelines. I wouldn't want this tournament to become so predictable as Yukihira vs Kurokiba in the final rounds.
Scores from previous rounds mean nothing in a one-on-one battle. What matters at hand in this match is how well these bowls of ramen are suited to being named as ramen.
Incidentally, Megumi's soup is designed after kodzuyu, a local specialty from Fukushima whose dashi is usually a soy-sauce-like consistency, despite looking rather clear. In fact, she uses two different kinds of soy sauce in this dish: "clear" and white soy. The dashi is also flavored with dried herbs, such as burdock, shitake mushroom, string bean, etc. The chicken flavor comes in with the sauce condiment on the side, which was chicken rib meat, green onion, shiso, and dried plums.
Hey, he's the one who brought shrimp to the table. I have to credit him for his originality, but considering how Yukihira won his round, Meg has a good chance.
There's definitely a page missing. The one with Megumi summoning her "stand" isn't available on mangabird.
My bets are on Megumi winning, actually. She's not going to be knocked out by some shrimp.
I swear when I first heard of Malamar, dubbed in Japanese as the "Gyakuten Pokemon", I couldn't help but think of Gyakuten Saiban… ahem, Ace Attorney. Bah, I left it to my overactive imagination. "There's no way Pokemon and AA would get a crossover."
Now, a new dream has been realized... and it's a nightmare. Hey, maybe they'll release it around Halloween in 2015.
I don't want to say "foreshadowing", but it feels a lot less like a "coincidence".
...Why did it have to be blue?
@Holy:
What the…? And here I thought he was just a weaboo.
Also, I think this is the first time we haven't gotten a
! Day 3 in an investigation. I guess Case 4 & 5 are supposed to combine for that, but it doesn't quite feel the same. Last boss is great though, and the phantom music is brilliant.
Actually,
! the games haven't had a third day of investigation or trial since the first game. If case 4 & 5 were combined, they could have, but it wouldn't be a consecutive three days.
This is the first time
! we've had a two-day case 1, though.
Based on various reviews, this game does about as well or better than previous installments. Beware of spoilers for the Gamespot one, though.
Don't give up the hype for this game, dammit! Take it from someone who's had first-hand experience!
As I read the first page of this chapter, I thought, 'huh, is Mangapanda actually doing a decent job this time?' but then I saw "premier hachis". Quick, someone with a French background, translate that monstrosity.
The "heat" attacks are kind of bothering me too, but "over hit" doesn't make sense. Does someone have the raw as a reference?
Is it me, or does design E look like Athena Cykes from Ace Attorney 5?
This looks like your average argument on the forums… and then someone decides to post a screenshot of a quote. I don't know if I should be laughing or facepalming right now.
It feels like forever since I've stopped by. Always a pleasant time to get to read One Piece chapters two in a row instead of one.
I don't think I am, but I'm the type of guy that hates to see that thing coming a mile away actually happen. I'm just saying I'm bummed thinking of this character now, his potential seems pretty limited at this point.
On the contrary; now that he has his head back, there will be two general ways to go from here: (1) stop hating on Luffy, who managed to give him back his "drill", and leave him alone, or (2) actually become allies with Luffy at some later point.
Then again, he could continue his hateful rage against Luffy for losing to him, but I don't think he's that much of a sore loser.
In any case, I can now officially call him a "chinjao". If he gets any hotter, I might even go for "lajiao"… cough
sigh I really miss those HK subs. They were in a golden age of crappy translations that transform into more crap through memetic mutation. The saddest part of it all, though, is that I understand exactly where those names come from.
I felt that this ought to be shared. Credits to hasfarr on CR Forums.

When I first saw that hax ability, I thought of mosquito repellent. I'm not sure why.
They don't call him "The Pursuer" for nuttin'; he'll come right around. But if Bartolomeo is based off of the same pirate as Ace was, Luffy might not get the fruit as he hopes for after all. It could be a red herring - has happened before - but I'd like to see more of this guy. Allusions to reality hold strong in a story like this.
On that note, I hope One-Leg keeps getting in Franky's way even up to finding the factory. He's too silly to just put off as a few-chapter gag.

We meet again, anime forum.
I'm confused here. How many people actually believed Toei wouldn't mess up one way or another? This ain't a movie, and its very premise is terrible for a movie. Nonetheless, it had some good perks that move it into the "decent" lot.
I haven't watched any Toei anime in months because I've lost too much interest, thanks to the awful pacing and filler material of some of these otherwise good series. However, this is one time that I will set as an exception. I freely admit that this particular special, while most definitely made of platypus shit, has several gems hidden among it that actually elevate it above average. I don't give a damn about the little plot it holds. For me, this episode was about resurrected nostalgia and comedic gags, as well as select scenes that were beautifully animated. I won't go into how bad its cons are because that would take too much of my boring life.
Above all, it's heartwarming to see production that's gone into appeasing the crazed otaku of the fanbase all the same.
Cheers, folks.
I heard of one translation site I don't know which one) that actually translated (tried to in some cases) the names of characters such as instead of Nami became Wave and Usopp became Liar Bo. Sad thing is that I once actually found art for Usopp using the name Liar Bo
You may be thinking of the God-awful wreck that is the HK subs. I dunno if they're still up, but there's a dead thread about them somewhere here.
When I stumbled upon this, I expected a title like, I dunno, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamante". But I guess I should wait a few chapters before jumping the gun.
This chapter is giving me nostalgia, aside from the unique references. Wonderful build up (and world-building, whoo!) for the arc here; can't wait for the rest to be revealed.
But now, I'm getting hungry again. Glad to know that Odacchi still loves his chinjiao ros.
I'm sure he'll keep it in the boat.
Keep it aboard the boat, or keep it IN the boat? I have to admit; Thousand Sunny being able to burst into flames would be a mix of awesome and grim irony. Merry-go passed away in flames… only to later be resurrected among flames like a phoenix... in a sun. It sounds both amusingly bizarre and utterly stupid at the same time.
