He has two of the strongest DFs in existence

Even before gaining the second of the two he was already capable of defeating Ace and scarring Shanks

I don't see why we necessarily need anything else on top of that

Akainu adding to his body count isn't going to help elevate the marines

He's already the most intimidating and powerful force the marines have

It's the other 99% of the marines outside the top brass that need elevated at this point

It has some really powerful uses in specific situations but is equally as vulnerable in others

Between the surface area limit and the switch between offense and defense limitation I think it has sufficient weak spots

The less "his haki was strong enough to do x" chat the happier I'll be with the story

TFA's biggest weaknesses are being too derivative of a new hope, and rey's mary sue qualities being at their worst, in my opinion at least. Hardly awful, and not as bad as a lot of people made it out to be. TLJ is…something else. I can't get over how Luke was treated in that movie. Simple as that. I didn't have high hopes for tros...but maybe it'll be worse than I thought. Is there anything you did like about tros though? Even something small?

The new trio are actually together in this movie which is nice and I did like

There are some good ideas buried in there but I feel like they get overridden by poor execution or dialogue

Ugh. I'll save my final judgement until after I actually see the movie, but this might put me into the anti disney star wars camp. Unfortunate since tfa wasn't horrible. But at least I'll always have the ot and prequels.

I enjoyed TFA quite a bit, even if I disagreed with some of the choices made

TLJ I disliked because I felt like it was lazy and didn't really take into account the OT, PT or TFA as well as seemingly having a weird political agenda behind it

This newest installment is just awful on a new scale though.

Saw episode 9 last night

! I disliked the Last Jedi but man, it looks like a masterpiece compared to this absolute mess.
! The plot is all over the place, the action is disjointed, the dialogue is atrocious.
! It veers from asspull to asspull, invalidating things from other star wars movies and even turning back on the narrative it itself has set up.
! It's genuinely some of the laziest writing I have ever seen in a movie, never mind one that's meant to cap off a trilogy and a trilogy of trilogies simultaneously.
! So when all the smoke has cleared, what has the new trilogy really achieved story wise?
! Pretty much nothing.
! We're exactly were we were after ROTJ, but now all of Anakin and Luke's achievements/belongings/legacy belong to Rey.
! Maybe it's just me, but that's pretty much exactly the opposite of what I was hoping for out of this new trilogy.

Dany's heel turn was rushed and poorly executed, I don't think anyone can argue against that

The thing that really annoyed me was the trial/council scene though

So many things that made no sense within the GoT universe

After Robert died we ended up with the war of five kings, with all these different motivations and greedy lords vying for power and taking advantage of the power vacuum

This time we have even more chaos with the land decimated from the battle at winterfell and the second sack of kings landing alone

All this chaos leads to…nothing

Everyone just agrees with little argument that this weird kid from the north who claims he can see everything should rule over all 7 kingdoms

Oh no, the 6 kingdoms because the North will never bow to...it's actual successor, the oldest living son of Eddard Stark

The Iron Islands and Dorne, 2 regions that are infamous for want of independence say nothing to this either, seemingly fine with another state being allowed to leave

This is all wrapped up neatly in around 10 minutes

Then we have a council scene where we have an maester who isn't actually a maester and is still sworn to the nights watch

A kingsguard(?) who is still sworn to Sansa Stark

A lowborn mercenary is now master of coin and lord paramount of the reach with seemingly no opposition from the lords of that region

So much of it unravels at the slightest touch that it's genuinely infuriating

For a show that was so great because of it's intricate plotlines and atmosphere of every action having consequences they really couldn't have done a worse ending

Well that was awful.

I had the same feeling watching this finale as I did reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

They both came across as terrible fanfiction without an ounce of genuine creativity or respect for the characters

Oh without a doubt, but there have still be enjoyable parts along the way.

s8e1 was one of the few episodes of GoT that I would happily never watch again though.

In regards to episode 3;

! Some of the cinematography and action was very well done.
! Story wise, a lot of missed opportunities to be honest.
! I'll reserve my judgment for now overall but I'll be interested to see what impact a lot of these characters that could have been killed off/white walkered to great effect have on the rest of the season
! This also leads me into just how far GoT has fallen in terms of the reasons that used to make it such captivating viewing
! The plot armour in this episode was absolutely astoundingly bad.
! One of the shots toward the end where the courtyard was piled with hundreds of bodies with 7 or 8 main characters standing awkwardly in among them was the perfect reflection of this
! Also Jon surviving in the middle of a crowd of wights similar to the one that so easily destroyed an entire Dothraki horde in seconds
! Sigh. I'm honestly kind of looking more forward to GoT being over than actually finding out what happens in the story at this point.

After like 18 months/2 years away I was expecting GoT to come back all guns blazing

Instead we got;

! An awful lot of Sansa moaning about everything
! A completely unnecessary magic carpet ride
! The world's least exciting and easiest rescue mission
! Fan service to fill out the time
! The big revelation being a big revelation we had a while ago
! This episode was boring as all hell and has me really worried for the pacing of this final season
! if it wasn't for mildly entertaining creepy Bran and his meeting Jaime at the end I'd have had this episode down as pretty much a complete write off

Well yeah, anyone we've seen with a bounty over 400m has been incredibly notorious

Seems like it would be hard to push past that boundary if you had continually raised your bounty the way Kidd did originally, by being a major danger to innocent bystanders

However if making major waves against the worlds big players is your jam, welcome to the 400M+ club

Well he was still not using his best after despite being quite pissed at Doffly for Law. Sometimes people don't use their best or use the wrong tool. Maybe he doesn't have something better but rather something different.

Something so different that it completely takes Luffy to another level in terms of both strength and speed and is unlike the gears he's been developing for 2 years?

Croc pretty much did twice.

The details may vary but both were presented as undefeatable to Luffy with his current power.

The details are kinda important though

Croc was presented as unhittable with a tricky devil fruit powers

He was overcome by a change in strategy and the experience gained fighting him

Lucci was portayed as essentially superhuman

He was overcome by a fresh new techniques that Luffy had thought up

Kaido on the other hand has just taken Luffy's best hits with ease and then knocked Luffy clean out with a named attack in his base form

I would prefer and hope he fights with the help of others but it's not because Oda is against convenience to beat the villain(blood, immunity, gears,nightmare) Oda use them plenty. But I am kind of expecting a different way for this one

Those pieces of convenience didn't give Luffy some unprecedented permanent powerup that allowed him to achieve victory though

Except for maybe his gears, but even those are just a change in strategy to allow Luffy to fight at his best

Croc was playing with him so it's not like he was taking the fight serious .

Even if we allowed for that, he still didn't one shot Luffy in any of their confrontations

Still Kaido tanking the attacks without any damage don't mean luffy don't got something better .

Why would Luffy make a big statement about how he's going to try and crush Kaido right now and then not use the best techniques at his disposal?

Gear 4th also had no effect on Katakuri when he had his CoO working. If there is a secret to Kaido toughness, then it could take place.
Also, Luffy was pissed here so, based on what we learned about it, his future vision shouldn't be working. If he kept himself under control, he could have seen that blow coming and maybe evaded it. Even if Kaido is able to take him down in one attack, as long as Luffy can make use of his future vision he should be able to avoid the said and any attack à la Katakuri.

So he only needs to fight a perfect fight and not get hit by being perfectly calm during the entire fight?

Luffy always fights with and is driven by his emotions, so how likely does that seem?

On top of that, if Luffy can enhance his CoA in Wano just like he hugely enhanced his CoO in Totto Land, he should be able to resist more attacks from Kaido.

So after 2 years of haki training, he's now gonna greatly increase his CoA process in a much shorter space of time without it being a bit of an asspull?

Also the one attack Luffy took and was defeated by was by no means Kaido's strongest attack

Never mind the strongest attack of his strongest form

find out Kaido "secret" (assuming there is one) to make his own attacks cause damage (something that would also be helped by the aforementioned improvement on CoA).

This is the key one for me

If there's some secret to Kaido's nigh invulnerability and it can be negated then fair enough, I could maybe see Luffy beating him one on one at a stretch

But if nothing changes in regards to Kaido's ultimate defense and Luffy is just asspulled into being that much stronger than in the first fight then it'll suck

With croc you can say he did .
He was not knock out but he was as good as dead if not for robin the first time.

I wouldn't call it a one shot by any means

Crocodile used a couple of different techniques to try and kill Luffy before impaling him, and even that was achieved when Luffy completely let his guard down over his worries about the sandstorm

The gap between Katakuri and Luffy seemed too big to surpass too. In the end I didn't like how it was handled, hope that doesn't repeat.

I won't say it's his trump card transformation.
At this point boundman has become his go to mode.
He may have other stuff he can do but he did not get the chance .

EDIT now that i look at it he has not beaten anyone with just boundman .

It's his top transformation in terms of mixing strength and speed

He also didn't hit either of them with his strongest barrage only to have it cause absolutely zero damage

they increase their power with help from other things all the time…ultra divine water, room of spirit and time, gravity chamber, transformations

One Piece is a lot more controlled when it comes to random asspulls though

The general powerups we have available are DFs and transformations

Luffy can't eat another DF

He's just used his trump card transformation that he worked on for 2 years to absolutely no effect

I just don't see him going from taking a OHKO to defeating Kaido in this arc

no Luffy HAS to be the one to beat Kaido on his own, no team or help otherwise he becoming the pirate king at the end would feel undeserved!

He doesn't need to beat all the Yonko to become Pirate King, never mind defeat them 1 on 1

This can be a stepping stone to defeating Big Mom 1 on 1
