      Hawkins would've made a good Vice Admiral for WG. Kinda precious resource to have that can predict battle outcomes and whatnot.

      Yeah, like those guys awakened naturally… I'm sure Vegapunk had nothing to do with it... :ninja:

      Maybe they ended that way because of force awakening or some failed DF's. There should be an explanation as I doubt Zoan awakenings look like that.

      I mean he flushed out Big Mom without granting her an awakening card

      What makes you think he wouldn't do the same to the other Yonko ?

      Oda is hella bias and it disgust me and i know some smart ass gonna jump on me and claims i root for the bad guys, no I'm not i just care for the characters receiving a little share of fairness and respect which almost never happened in this war since none of the bad guys awakened

      But the prison guards are clearly far more genius and competent than the beast pirates and two yonkos.

      It's just a manga, chill. No need to trashtalk Oda for not writing HIS manga the way you wish …

      If something like this was really possible, it would definitely be something that's effective for a few moments. How would that ruin his character?

      For gag purposes, and one occasion it would be ok, but for me a permanent change would kinda make him not that funny anymore. His whole repertoire of jokes are about him being a skeleton.

      @Seafarer33:

      If there are Blackbeard pirates in Chocolate town, then wouldn't they be here for Pudding and her 3-eyed ability ? I thought Big Mom's treasure vault was on a different island. Maybe some other BB group is going for the Poneglyph in parallel, though.

      Yes, that is if BB knows about Pudding at all… anyhowhow, we haven't seen/heard about Blackbeard Pirates for a while now so Oda could show us bits of their exploits in parallel to the Strawhats, as they both want the same think and I doubt BB is just sitting idle on his island and eating pie all day long.

      In my opinion, it's either the Black Beard Pirates or a completely random character which we'd never guess.

      I also think that they are not from Germa, there would be no reason for the mysterious shadow if they were from Germa as we all kinda expect them to save their brothers… my bet is also BB pirates as it is their best chance to get a hold of BM's Road Poneglyph, assuming that BB also wants to reach Laugh Tale.

      @black-leg:

      Each sea likely has its own prison with Impel Down being the prison reserved for only the most dangerous of criminals. Remember that Crocodile and Baroque Works were sent to a smaller prison in the Grand Line first, before being moved to a prison in the Calm Belt.

      Also, when Captain Morgan was arrested, Garp specifically came to pick him up and take him to a prison and/or Enies Lobby. It's possible that the WG has a prison that's specifically for marines or WG agents that betrayed the organisation. It's notable that we saw no ex-marines or WG officials imprisoned in Impel Down, other than Shiryu who was already an employee there so it was probably more convenient to keep him there.

      If memory serves correctly, I think that each Marine Base has a small prison/dungeon where it keeps prisoners and stuff. Also, smaller prisons besides Impel Down most surely exists, even ones for normal civilians with no DF powers and the like.

      @wolfwood:

      I could've sworn we saw Arlong leaving Impel Down when Jinbei became a warlord

      I think he was probably sent back to Impel Down as he was there before doing all the bad stuff after release.

      Hear me out…

      Law has the Ope Ope no Mi and now that it is awakened, he could master it and use the Perennial Youth Operation, which gives a person eternal youth.

      Remember when Doflamingo said that the Ope Ope no Mi's Perennial Youth Operation combined with the treasure in posession of the World Nobles would allow one to conquer the whole world? – Chapter 761

      Shanks stole the Gomu Gomu no Mi from Who's Who who was sent to Impel Down, kinda harsh for losing a seemingly unimportant fruit.

      Turns out Gomu Gomu no Mi is a Mythical Zoan DF, and the Gorousei are afraid of it that it has the power to destroy them (it is implied from their conversation) and have been hunting for it for 800 years. - Chapter 1

      It is probably the same fruit that JoyBoy has eaten when he was alive.
      Now…

      What if the Gorousei (upper echelon of the World Nobles) have told the other World Nobles, or at least the inner circle (who Doflamingo says he is a part of) that the Nika DF is in their possession, as to not appear incompetent and hunting the fruit for 800 years in secret until even they thought to be only a legend.

      When they finally got a hold of the Gomu Gomu no Mi and found out it was rapidly stolen, they sent Who's Who to Impel down (probably also the rest of the crew that was guarding the DF) to prevent him of spreading the news and let the word get out. Who's Who found out about Nika legend from a guard who vanished afterwards.

      Luffy was awakened the power of the Gomu Gomu no Mi and transformed himself into god Nika, which has absurd powers and infinite usability, but there must be a cost to it. So what if the cost of using the awakening of the Gomu Gomu no Mi is accelerated aging and the only way to save the user from dying an early death would be Law using his ultimate ability on him, thus granting him the power to conquer the whole world (in this case, liberate the whole world)?

      Just connection some dots with no hard evidence, but it is plausible.

      Funny enough, I don't think there's a chance it's artificial. I'm talking about the original creators having a means of creating a legit fruit like that.

      ….if...of course....they aren't just natural phenomena. (Personally, I don't think they are)

      If you look at what Devil Fruits represent,a long time ago there could've been a "Jonah's Ark" kinda of happening that resulted in creating Devil Fruits that conserve every aspect (living being, element, natural phenomenon, even artificial stuff) of another world (cough Lunarians homeland cough) for surviving a devastating event. So my guess is as well that DF were man-made at some point.

      Weird question, the Strawhats is a small crew who should all be capable of defending themselves on some level, and the meta reason is that it's still a shounen series at the end of the day. I hope and ultimately believe Chopper will continue to improve, but I'm not gonna dunk on him just because he couldn't beat top tiers like Queen or Perospero, that's just silly.

      He is already strong enough to go head to head with the likes of Hawkins/Shinuchi or probably even Tobiroppo. My personal favourite scenario is him working together with Usopp in fights, providing Usopp with various drug projectiles and carrying him to safe spots while also guarding his back when he is shooting. They would make a great pair.

      I think a key difference is that devil fruits aren't like magic where you have to go to some special school or temple to get power. Relegating the power to a food means anyone is able to get one and eat one without necessarily having to have special skills one has to train at for years. I think it's also at that that anyone can act like an expert on the fruit and one ca never be too sure if they're right or wrong either.

      Comparisson with Naruto was made for understanding that the author can change the aspects of the story that are presented as "common knowledge/basic lore" through characters POV that could not be aware of the full extension of that aspect.

      The 3 fruit categories have all been explained in the manga by Oda through different characters and we can assume these characters knew the basics of how fruits work from common knowledge. If you go and ask Spandam if there is something like Special Paramecia, he would say "No, there are only 3 categories". So Oda could bring more light into what DF are and how they are more then just fruit-based power-ups when we meet Vegapunk.

      It's like in Naruto when you learn there are 4 element styles ninja art, then they introduce hybrid styles, then they introduced merged styles, then they introduced animal styles and so on …

      Erm nope. Moria doesn’t change at all, he manipulates his own shadow but his base form always remain. No matter what Bege changes to, the actual Bege still exist. Even when he turned to the giant castle. Real Bege was still inside retaining his normal form.
      This is all completely different to Luffy becoming something new in each Gears.

      I don't want to start an unending debate but we see things differently. Luffy is still Luffy in each gear, he only manipulates parts of him corresponding to his DF capacity. Same as Moria, same as Bege.

Several comments have been made about how his body works. He turns to chibi when he started using G3 same way Chopper turned small after using Monster for 30mins. Luffy literally have different forms he called Gears lol. Other Paramecia users don’t have forms.

      Of course they do, Gang Bege, Moria have special forms of the DF that change their appearence in a unique way, but Luffys forms/gears resemble Chopper Ball Point.

      A surprise isn't a surprise if you're told in advance "A huge surprise is coming!" as is Oda did a lot of setup to guide us to it and get us prepared for… something... even if we didn't know what.

      Exactly, if there were even small hints that Luffy's Devil Fruit was something else, the whole forum would've been full of speculations and even possible on spot predictions by now. A full 180-turnaround reveal isn't necessary bad writing if it doesn't contradict anything that has happend before.

      And One Piece is full of symbolism and Oda has foreshadowed the sun motiv long ago, as Greg said, but managed masterfully to hide how impactful it is in the OP universe.

      Of course the DF had an influence on Luffy, but only according to his true nature and spirit. That is why "it choose him". From what I can tell, comparing Luffy's childhood to a normal kid, his conviction of becoming PK is kinda unnatural but also his most upfront aspect of his character. That is where the DF maybe influenced Luffy as it was the way for it to awaken at some point and continue JoyBoy's agenda.

      Well, you have to take into consideration that for this reveal to be a total surprise, Oda had to "invent" Nika so people reading the manga would not catch up on early about Luffy's true nature. If it would've been a well known deity, there would've been a lot of speculation much earlier about Luffy having Mythical Zoan.

      I think it could matter since Shanks stole it for good reason.
      We never heard throughout the story of One Piece of another such deed (pirates deliberately stealing a heavily guarded DF from the WG) and we could assume that Shanks knew the importance of this fruit. After Luffy ate it, he concluded that there is no way back from it and can only support Luffy in his quest to become Pirate King.

      Probably easier to accept that oda's plan is not as airtight as many of us assumed and that the man himself can be susceptible to retcons and poor storytelling (sometimes). It's the best way to explain the whole "ehhh we don't know that the gomu fruit is the legendary fruit" boo-boo that's happening now (same for imu)

      First of all, we should not put everything that Oda tries to write that is unexpected or unforshadowed in the "Plothole/BS" jar . I mean if Oda didn't plan anything special for Luffy during the course of this manga, why even bother to write it.. he envisioned the bigger picture of this manga a long time ago and all these little details that are unveiled contribute to that specific story course.

      Second, Luffy IS the protagonist in this bildungsroman manga and we can expect great things to happen and I can only commend and appreciate Oda for his infinite creativity to come up with something totally new and shrouded in mystery after 1000+ chapters that can create this level of ambiguity in the fanbase. Look at how the story progressed up until now, we can expect Oda to keep delivering the same well-thought development and growth of characters with a grain of "personal decisions" that would never ever satisfy all of the fans own view of how the story should move forward.

      Oda probably doesn't have enough paper to spotlight every minor character in the manga and probably relies on the anime to cover that. He did show a couple of characters from both of the crews like Bepo and Killer (and killer had a big spotlight) but probably the others are not strong enough to be featured in the fight.

      Better to use her to hype up the pieces that will be part of his next chess board (aka the final war) rather than have her "leave Wano". She would be rendered ineffectual anyways because Luffy will be beating Kaido within a few volumes, her usefulness in terms of adding tension would lower because we would have just seen a similar-tier of villain fall at Luffy's hands.

      My bet is that BM will lose consciousness again and she will be retained by the WG as they wanted her since long ago (from the orphanage). Otherwise she becomes irrelevant and possesses no real threat now.

      This also falls more in line with Marineford: haki was there, but we were unable to see it except in key moments in which it made all the difference.

      Agree, it is like Luffys Gear 2nd … he uses it constantly but the fumes and heating of the rubber is not shown anymore, we just asume it was turned on at the start of the fight. On another note, in many fights you could see the participants hands/feet/weapon being totally black meaning they were coated it haki.

      After this Two Yonkou Arc ends,Oda needs to make appear Shanks and Mihawk way more. The audience love them,and they are there from the very beginning. We will enter in the final arc after this Two Yonkou Arc,so Shanks and Mihawk need to have the "Law treatment". What does that mean? Well,they dont have to travel with the crew like Law did,of course. But they need to appear a lot,a lot and a lot,getting flashbacks,etc. because i think these are two characters that really deserve it. Like i said in the beginning,they are in the story from the beginning and altough they always appear briefly they are very,very loved by the readers. If Oda wants to make the readers feel really excited,go on to develop Shanks and Mihawk like he did with characters like Law.

      Giving how the story revolves, it is clear that the first ones that start the war against the WG will be the old batch - Shanks, Mihawk, Boa - that really know the oppression and how the WG handled many events in history and it will be finished by the New Generation. At least this is how I get the image that Oda wants to paint until now.

      Do agree seeing Kidd flatten appoo was satisfying. Kidd will probably give insight on appoos df, probably appoo giving insight on Kidd's df. Waiting for Kidd to shine, Kidd Zoro and luffy vs Queen would be great

      Totally agree, Kidd desprately needs some screentime since he is regarded as top supernova and in the race for Yonko. Oda give Kidd some love.

      I bet Yamato has a stupid Zoan like Chameleon or something and all he does is slouch off somewhere with a bottle of wine and nobody can find him because of his camouflage. Maybe that is why it is such a formidable task to bring him back to Kaido.

      Damn, Big Mom has such a large and diverse crew, its pretty amazing actually.

      Yuen is definitely a Fuckboi, Lol.

      Not fair placing Peros on Sex Offender level, he's definitely Daddy level.

      Com on, out of all Peros is the most sex offender type. Would you let your daughter near him?

      @RevolutionaryOfThe6Paths:

      Why are people so pessimistic about all the straw hats getting fights.

      Well, in the last years we haven't seen Sanji or Zorro or anyother SH fight for their lives, except ofc Luffy. So we kinda want a Zorro vs Mr.1 style of fight to happen a little bit more often.

      Regarding the traitor, there could be someone from Orochi Onibawhatever that has some kind of infilatration type DF or possession because there are a lot of panels where, for exemple Kanjuro, doesn't say anything and is almost draw in the same position.
