Dysmorphia != Dysphoria.
Also please shut the fuck up immediately.
I meant dysphoria to begin with, not dysmorphia. And you should grow up. If you can't have a proper discussion with someone with a difference of opinion without resorting to childish tactics then you shouldn't have involved yourself from the jump. Realise that your opinion on the issue of bathrooms and transgenderism as a whole is nothing more than that, an opinion.
@Jabberwok:
When I said you're not interested in understanding the issue, I meant that you're not interested in empathizing or taking seriously the issues of trans people.
I am one of the many others who started out with a willingness to hear the trans side of the issue and express empathy and find compromises but were met with loud-talking, name-calling, accusations of bigotry, and other assorted insanity when it was suggested that maybe, just maybe, we should also consider how other people might feel and what valid concerns they might have. Some other responses in this thread are prime examples. I've been so turned off by this whole movement I'm just like "eff your feelings right back".
There is no catering to the trans minority going on. There is no special privilege that people are asking to be afforded to them. They are simply asking to use the bathroom that matches their outward appearance. That is not a threat to anyone.
It is catering and it is special privilege. The trans community (and their allies) have no right to think their feelings have priority over, other people's feelings since they are the ones trying to modify their own bodies artificially. Bathrooms are based on sex, not gender identity r what you think a man/woman should look like. People have mentioned multiple times adding a 3rd restroom, sort of like the family restrooms at malls, for trans kids but they don't want it.
You say why not teach people to be more tolerant. That is exactly what they're trying to do. The only difference is that they're asking to be allowed in the bathroom that it actually looks like they belong in. The hypocrisy of what you're saying boggles the mind.
-
No. The main answer being used by this whole "trans people will be in danger if they use the restroom that correlates with their biological sex" excuse is to let them into the restroom of the opposite sex (as if they can't be harrased there). They are not focused on more tolerance.
-
I am in no way being hypocritical.
@Nolus:
If people are uncomfortable, the solution isn't to try and shelter them from reality, it's to try and educate them on the matter.
What is there to educated on? If people don't want a penis or vagina in the same room as them, they have that right.
What privilege? To get to go to the bathroom?
They're already able to use the bathroom What's being fought for is for them to be able to use the bathroom specifically made for the opposite sex. That is privledge and is not something owed.
@Noqanky:
1. Most assholes who go to the bathroom don't even realize who is trans or not.
2. Historically people made the same bullshit argument for other bullshit
3. Are you seriously suggesting that going to the bathroom is a privilege?
4. You are speaking without foundation or real evidence. There is nearly zero fucking data of trans people affecting the safety of cis people in this whole bathroom situation.
-
This is false but whatever.

No one is reducing your "freedom".
It's disgraceful to compare your beef about where you get to go potty to decades (centuries if you include slavery) of black oppression at the hands of white imperialists. This is balantly disrespectful to our ancestors.
Because we all know that a mostly unenforceable state bathroom law is the same as Jim Crow and the KKK.
But here's the thing that invalidates this comparison: there was no equality between white vs. colored spaces. If the "colored only" spaces were actually just as good as the "whites only" spaces then who's to say that Black people would have rallied for integrating those spaces at all? Black only bathrooms were usually non-functioning, filthy, and rarely cleaned, alongside other Black only spaces, to reinforce the superiority of white people.
Women's and men's restrooms get cleaned the same amount of times and are as clean or as filthy as any other part of the establishment. Going to one is no better or worse than going to the other.

Im not explaining this privilege thing again.
-
I could easily disprove this but I've wasted enough time on this already. All of this is based on not wanting to share a bathroom with you, it doesn't matter what the reasons are.
So yea, it's not liberals asking for understanding that are killing us. It's people insisting on treating us like subhumans and systematically reducing our self-esteem to zero.
Invalid theory.
"Trans suicides can't be because of discrimination, white privilege proves it:
http://thefederalist.com/2016/07/07/evidence-the-transgender-suicide-rate-isnt-due-to-discrimination/
The second problem is that the discrimination theory of suicide does not hold up when compared to other minority groups who suffer disproportionate real and perceived amounts of bigotry and negative discrimination. The Centers for Disease Control’s numbers on suicide indicate that the highest rates of suicide over the past 15 years or so belong to…white people.In contrast, in most of the years surveyed black people had the lowest suicide rate among all ethnicities. White suicide actually rose in the period 2000-2014."
