That being said, I've definitely already placed my pre-orders for the Megahouse Luffy and Law and the Sentinel Ace. I'm a little confused about why there are two different companies handling these posable figures though, but hope they look consistent next to each other and keep releasing more.
I'm seriously much more of a posable action figure guy, and since Figuarts dropped the ball on releasing any more, I'm definitely excited about these new ones.
I pre-ordered the new Ace figure and didn't do my research extensively enough (i did some quick Google searches and did find comments along these lines but also from people supporting the site and never had any problems), was enticed by how low the site was selling it for.
Found this thread on here, got REALLY concerned, and decided to shoot an email asking when he would be planning on shipping out the figure, since that was never detailed to me.
The very next day, I got a notification from Paypal that I had been refunded the pre-order deposit costs. This is probably a warning sign that the site is no longer capable of handling any new orders, but I'm just glad I got my money back without any extensive hassle, and happily placed an order with Kolektakon instead

Just wanted to let you guys know that I listened to both episodes and I'm liking it so far. I've followed the unofficial OPP since they started, and I gotta stay that compared with their early days, you guys are off to a great start in terms of audio quality, discussion, etc.
There's no such thing as "competition" here. We are all hardcore One Piece fans, and it never hurts to have one more group out there willing to do a podcast, talk about their favourite series, and not be afraid to share their thoughts with the broader fanbase. A few years ago I honestly considered doing just what you guys are doing with a couple of my university buddies.
If I could offer a few suggestions:
Focus on discussing One Piece story and theories. There is no need for you guys to do a "news recap", "interviews", "merchandise review", etc because these are things that the existing OPP does perfectly well already. I think you should focus on the latest manga story developments, and talk more about theories relating to the plot. This is an area that really gets the majority of fans excited, and unfortunately I feel that the current OPP tends to under-emphasize, probably because they have gotten bigger and are trying to balance so many other segments, features, co-hosts. I think you guys really have a chance to succeed if you keep it humble and just talk about One Piece as if it was an audio-version of the manga discussion on the forums.

I'm glad the audio isn't a hug problem so far, I really am apprehensive about not having the best quality yet. And you're absolutely right about the lack of "competition", we just want to share our enthusiasm for a series that has done so much for us. And it's such a phenomenon now that there's definitely enough room for all of us here in the pool. I just hope we're offering something people can enjoy.
And in terms of how to gear our podcast, thank you so much for the suggestions. I was actually just talking to Jeff about this, about how we're trying not to turn it into a "speculation podcast" but a lot of our discussions will involve that, because that's how we naturally discuss story. Of course we're still going to delve into deeper thematic meanings, great character moments and interactions, and our overall response to the story, but speculation and theories is also a big part to tie it all in. We have some cool episode ideas to mix it up too, but speaking of theories, I think you'll like the topic we're recording for Episode 3 tomorrow and releasing next week

We really enjoy and respect the main podcast that's out, and we're not trying to outdo them or anything like that. Like we explained in the first post, this is more for us, and sharing our enthusiasm for the series is a bigger priority than being successful. If even one other person listens to and enjoys this, then we're happy

Yess, this chapter is setting up what I'm sure is the eventual three-way alliance between Luffy, Law, and Kidd. Goign off of the current narrative trajectory, it's safe to say that Big Mom is definitely the Yonkou Law wants Luffy to help him take down, and seeing as how Kidd has been raiding her ships, I'm not gonna be surprised to see him join the fight. It may seem like overkill to have three supernova teams to take down Big Mom, but I think it's important to help establish that the Yonkou are no joke, and Luffy still has away to go before taking down one on his own. Plus, three-way alliance is just gonna be too sweet not to happen again, for a more sustained amoutn of time too!
Also, I'm calling it, the lower right swordsman? It's Sabo.

NICE, I really like the variance in composition even just between the last few covers, and how Oda's focusing on the sort of main characters of the arc here as well and showing a few of the other prominent ones popping up. I'm guessing the title will be "The Voice From the New World"? Or "Path towards the Sun" may be more symbolic and poignant, if less directly related to us seeing Smoker and Big Mom's crew here.
I imagine if Ceasar was directly responsible for something that happened to Law's crew the two would be far more hostile towards each other. As is it seems to be an uneasy alliance (ala Jimbei/Crocodile/Luffy) towards a common end rather than the two being outright enemies.
Hmm, very good point, it may be more that Ceasar can help Law regain his crewmates somehow rather than having them outright held hostage. Whatever the specifics, I have no doubt that by arc's end, Luffy will have repaid his debt to Law somehow. Just the fact that Law made no efforts to outright get rid of Luffy and the SH seems to speak towards Oda building a fairly amicable relationship between the two, and Law swapping the straw hats' personalities was probably more of a contingency rather than a malicious tactic. I also liked the speculation that someone had posited (sorry about not going back and checking who posted it) about Oda setting this up so that Nami in Franky's body makes it a more susceptible target for CC to abduct due to his potential interest in the Vegapunk-like laser technology.
Really though, I am enjoying this relationship that Oda is creating between Law and Luffy; Luffy has enough outright enemies and rivals, so it's nice to see more frenemies. After all, Shanks has Hawk Eye, and even Roger had Garp haha. It'd be more interesting to see the eventual Kidd vs Luffy clash, now that's a face off that would pay off more.
Law mentions that he too is looking for something/need in something. So far we've seen hybrid people based on mythological creatures. Lower does not seen to have a comfortable relationship with Cesar, so it's likely that Caesar has laws crew hostage in exchange for his abilities, such as splitting and forming animal people and removing the impel down prisoners hearts. This way, Luffy well have the chance to pay back his debt by helping law rescue his crew. If law was truly on cc's side, he would've done more to impede the star hats target than point then towards where they may need to go

Just wanted to say that I fully endorse the fact that the harpy's name should be spelled as Monet.
In terms of Japanese pronunciation, Mone would sound aloud as "moan nay" anyways, but reads awkwardly from a western viewpoint, with almost the urge to pronounce it as "moan", like bone. More importantly, it's a sweet reference to French impressionist painter, Claude Monet.
Not to downplay Law's badassery, but I'm pretty sure his devil fruit ability probably facilitated a lot of his pirate heart extraction; like I don't picture Law as the completely wild animal and visceral type to just blatantly rip people's hearts out.
Even if Law took the hearts of 100 pirates doesnt mean that they are dead, right? He could have just used his ability and give the marines the beating hearts of 100 pirates so they can use it as leverage against said pirates. Would be good leverage against pirates with some high bounties.
My statement is going along with this line of thinking too, so I agree that this is a likely possibility.
This doesn't change the fact that he was still coldly detached enough to gather that many human hearts for such a specific purpose. Just saying Law's a badass, but as the cool collected type, as opposed to say, Kidd, vicious and raw type. So it does make sense that Law would parlay into a warlord position, as he seems to have a very calculated master plan still set up.
I think last chapter was actually the only time with the dragon speaking and that would explain why Luffy could only hear it. Just my two cents that that was a little Oda nugget of foreshadowing is all.
I still think they will meet Vegapunk on this island, and that he's currently using it as a research/experiment base. "M" could stand for master or something in his subordinates referring to him.
And at first, I thought it was Buggy stuck on the dragon, but it's clearly not since this guy has beef with a Shichibukai. Maybe Law is now a Shichibukai, and used his power to separate this dude in the first place??

In Databook Green, it's mentioned that BB's original name was going to be Everything D. Teach. Make of that what you will.
Well next year NW doesn't mean it will be right at january… Maybe we still have an arc not in the new world after Fishmen island...

I don't think she's wrong, and it's just that it hasn't been fulfilled this arc yet. I think Luffy will still be involved in FI's destruction in the future, possibly during the Great War that Whitebeard foreshadowed.
He looks semi-realistic like the original three Admirals…..if you can find me the actor he's supposed to be modelled off of I'll believe you haha
I think the most satisfying plot development would be for Jinbe's duty to lead directly into the Reverie, and the Straw Hats would help him out and crash Mariejois.
I'm sure Oda can do it well and not make it feel like a repeat of Enies Lobby or Impel Down. Plus, he's totally building it up with Vivi being the main delegate from Alabasta and Wapol gaining political power again; even if we don't see the Straw Hats involved we should see the Reverie in some form.
Jinbe WILL join.
And this is coming from a former anti-Jinbe advocate who literally said the opposite thing a few months ago.
Oda is just going to finally give him the proper build up for him to become inducted into the crew. There's no way Oda set up this whole arc, especially with the end not to have Jinbe inevitably join. And look at the way the whole crew regards him, he'd be perfect. An old soldier who is also an exotic species? Totally fits in with the rest of the band of misfits that is the Straw Hat pirates.
Personally I'm hoping that Oda is taking this time and opportunity to show us a more personalized flashback and a more specific dream for Jinbe. Also, please bring back Aladdin!

Difference between Vivi and Jinbe though is that Jinbe basically said as soon as he wraps up a few loose ends he'll join. Vivi knows that the situation wouldn't allow for her to become a pirate, since her duty is essentially life long. Vivi gave an if statement, Jinbe gave a promise. Not to mention how after that all the SHs said they were going to wait for him to join
YES, QFT. Vivi basically said she HOPED she could join again one day. Jinbe said he WOULD join.
I think a tom boyish character would work, with Oda sensibilities added.
Think a younger Dadan, and voila.

These last two or so chapters really amped up the pacing, and demonstrated that Oda is pretty much ready to wrap up this arc, and Caribou is one of the subplots that got wrapped up a bit too quickly in my opinion.

Totally agree, people are being a little too nit picky and overlooking the actual substance of it.
Yes, connections are being made between Luffy and Roger, and predisposition does play a huge part in stories like this. BUT, you have to consider that the same sort of connections were made between Shanks and Roger, and Ace and Roger.
Plus, just because Luffy has this ability (which we still don't know if it could've been activated by his intense training and determination, which would also speak to Luffy living up to his own destiny and not being pulled by it), it's what he does with it that's important.

In retrospect Jinbe makes perfect sense through the close of this arc. His flashback may not have centered around him, but he still played a poignant role as the person in the very middle of Otohime and Fisher Tiger's ideals, exposed to both and questioning which one was the true path to take.
Also, even though this chapter and end of this arc was pretty obviously rushed (or at least took on a much more rapid pacing), that was a beautiful ending leading to Luffy's offer/decision, thematically tying this arc together. I was against Jinbe joining initially because I felt that from a character development, crew interaction, and power-level perspective that he was unnecessary, but I definitely take that back after this chapter.
One last thing; I feel a little silly that I didn't catch until after I read thsi chap, but another hint towards Jinbe's joining can arguably be found in Databook Green. We are given early initial character designs for Jinbe, and these designs are all much more antagonistic looking than the final Jinbe, which should've pointed to Jinbe playing a very heavy ally role for Oda to ditch more potentially badass designs to give us a relatable one.
Great episode =D, at first I thought we were gonna get to see Luffy's "new" technique, unfortunately it will be 'till next week's episode, I don't remember having seen in the manga the bit when Chopper stole Brook's line (btw very funny xP) was it in the manga ? anyway…. glad to see they didn't make chopper eat his rumble ball, after they messed up on Luffy's and Sanji's attacks against the pacifistas, a double mistake would've been disappointing.

Chopper did indeed steal Brook's line, but Brook's reaction was more subtle, and actually in the background of the other characters speaking afterwards. I don't think anyone noticed him either, Usopp included in contrast to the anime's portrayal.
Just to preempt people getting their hopes up too much, I'm pretty sure Alexis is joking about the "Zoro" issue; he's pretty aware of how bothered some fans are about it but uses it as a joke in some of his tweets and is pretty steadfast about their policy of not going back on translated names.
