It's a joke at how Perona fans thought she hid on the sunny after her confrontation with Kuma and how people think carrot will hide on the sunny.

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
@Syphin
Great postAt present I'm still struggling to view Carrot as a main character after the treatment, focus and development she has received throughout her story. It has been over 250 chapters since her introduction and almost 5 years since Pedro's fall and Carrot has yet to express any interest in learning about what the Straw Hat Pirates are fighting for and the larger story in play.
While verbally Carrot hasn't expressed much interest in the Straw Hats in Wano, visually Carrot has spent a lot of her screen time with the Straw Hats. She was with the crew when Luffy vised old Kuri castle, when Jinbe appeared she was with the crew. Also what are the Straw Hats fighting for? Becoming Pirate King? The Romance of Adventure? Freedom? Besides even if Carrot knew what that was it would only add to reasons why she doesn't need to join. Understanding the importance Straw Hat's voyage is one of the things Pedro left for her to find out, she could ask for the answer but then she wouldn't need the journey to find out.
The Mink society through Zou is by extension of their relationship to the Kozuki Clan and Wano connected to the "Dawn". Consequently, the Mokomo Dukedom has relevance in assisting Momonosuke bring about the Dawn, which is what Pedro had been fighting for. Rather than Carrot continuing to be a reactive character, taking the responsibility of leadership and guiding the Mink toward a new future seems in line with bringing her character forward and advancing her story. She may not be equipped to lead a nation but neither is an 8 year boy but sometimes growth is derived through necessity and failing and falling establishes the stones forming the path toward success.
The Dawn is a rather vague idea that we don't know much of, but we know that the Straw Hat's will guide the way to the Dawn (ch.877) the that Momo will bring it (ch.996), if Carrot joined the crew she would still guide the Kozuki Clan to the Dawn.
Leadership wise Momo was given may chance to assume leadership, anytime a mink that's not Inurashi & Nekomamushi needs need to take a leader role it's Pedro, Shishilian, and Wanda. Still Shishilian and Wanda could help guide Carrot like the scabbards are for Momo.

@Kurloz Oda himself "confirmed" an 11th crewmate when Gatz said Blackbeard had 10 Titanic Captains, despite us only knowing 9 of them.
Then as recently as Road to Laugh Tale, it was reinforced that there's an unknown 11th Blackbeard Pirate around.
Oda could end all discussion by just having Luffy and crew celebrating "we are finally a whole crew" while toasting to Jinbe upon his return, before they reached Onigashima.
The point is: there has been a suspicion raised by Oda himself since Ch 1, when Luffy said he wanted 10 people, and then the count started with Zoro as the 1st person a few chapters later.

RE: "One Piece Odyssey" trademark registered by Shueisha and Bandai Namco
My guess is that the game is finished, but they need to do the English translation so they can have a simultaneous release with the Japanese version.
They may try matching it up with the American release of Film Red, to create a One Piece Hype month in America. (Film Red, Odyessy, Live Action, and New Arc Hype)
We'll probably only hear it's release date a month or two before hand. -

Did readers really not expect Carrot's promotion to a leadership position? I thought that was the clear direction of her story arc. I've already mentioned this possibility in 2020 - my post in July 2020 and in November 2020:
@Syphin said in Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 8 - Onigashima):
[...]
There needs to be a character that will come along that will change the status quo and move the nation (Zou) into the new dawn. Aside from Pedro and Carrot, none of the other Mink's have been developed to fill such a role (certainly not Inuarashi or Nekomamushi who could have saved Wano Kuni earlier if they reached out to the Roger Pirate remnants and the Whitebeard Pirates twenty years ago when they retreated back to Zou). Nekomamushi may be waiting for the dawn but he has not been developed into a character that will work alongside the Straw Hat Pirates to see it arise. With Pedro having fallen in Whole Cake Island, Carrot now embodies that character stationed to open Zou up. Pedro's goal was to lay the foundation for the "dawning of the world" for the people he believes can bring it about. Pedro saved the Straw Hat Pirates but he did not accomplish his goal. Rather it appears, Pedro's will has been inherited by Carrot. She will assist in laying the foundation for the Straw Hat Pirates and the Kozuki clan (Momonosuke and Hiyori) to help guide the world to the "dawn".Carrot becoming the representative/leader of the Mink isn't surprising to me rather it was the expected outcome.
I can't say I was all to surprised either but, as a character it feels to early for Carrot to take up that role. As you have said a lot of Carrot's character is defining what "the dawn of the world" means. I feel that if she were to become the Duchess of Mokomo kingdom it would be at the end of her character arc not right now in the middle of it, when she has yet to understand or define what "the dawn of the world" means.

Deicide said in Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World):
The story spent quite a lot of time developing Yamato's relationship with Momonosuke and reinforcing his dedication to Wano, and he even got an epilogue in the Green Bull fight to find out what Wano may face if he is not there to protect it.
You can say that, but that's not how the story framed it. The story didn't frame it as a scenario of Momo having to call on more help, because it was framed as a scenario where he did the exact opposite and Luffy being the captain who knows how to hit the nail on the head where it really counts even approved of Momo's handling of the situation even though Shanks was the one who scared the admiral away. If Momo was wrong, he would have been framed as wrong, but wasn't, and can't really be used as an excuse why Yamato should abandon any ambition to sail with Luffy as a result if you ask me.
And

- Yamato: For a couple of reasons, I simply can't see Yamato as a SH. Yamato closeness to Ace and his friendship with Luffy makes them too much like equals, in a way is like Yamato becoming a SH is a "demotion".
Interesting, since Jinbe was also friends with Ace. Would that have been considered a demotion?
Jinbe fought Ace and they got in good terms, but they weren't friends. On their first talk in Impel Down in chapter 529 is clear they are acquainted but not close.
But that's beyond the point. Even if they were really "friends", the "closeness" I mentioned between Yamato and Ace is more than just that.
Yamato and Ace were depicted as basically best buddies. To me Yamato seemed like a true brother to him, not unlike Sabo or Luffy (ignoring the temporal aspect, since Yamato was with him for 3 days instead of years). Also, I said it was this coupled with the other reasons, not just that.
If you want to read any of the missing posts in the future just message me so it doesn't clutter the tread.

I know quite a few people are expecting her to stowaway on the sunny again but I just don't see it. Caribou is more likely to do that.
It is more due to how the joke of a mink secretly hiding on a ship has been used three times, given Oda's propensity to use gags we'd be likely to see it again. Also Carrot becoming Duchess of Mokomo Dukedom is a good move to make if you want to end discussion on Carrot becoming a crewmate only to surpise the audience by having her stowaway and join the crew.
Caribou was given full permission to board the ship, it seems more likely for him to get trapped in a barrel again because of his murderous ways.

Somebody pointed out that there appears to be new Odyssey footage in the upper left corner at the 1 minute mark. DLC soon?
That looks to be an evil shadow Lim using a memoria cube at Marineford.
So it might just be a remixed boss rush with a short story.
I wonder what it is going to be about as this game doesn't have loose narrative threads to expand upon.

Did Odyssey sell well? I've watched some gameplay of it and I don't think it's for me.
It has been performing as expected. Just looking at the first week of sales (JP) compared to other recent titles.
1. Pirate Warriors 4 (~137,000)(Ignore this it's an anomaly)
2. Odyssey (~66,000)
3. World Seeker (~51,000)It's already preforming better than World Seeker, However One Piece has had a resurgence in popularity due to Film Red and Wano Ending, which could count for that ~15,000 difference. I'll also add that with Film Red ending the week after it's release pushed Odyssey out of the news cycle, and thus may have hurt it sales in the long run.
Also I forgot to post about it but the Pre-Order DLC Released a bit ago it runs about 5 Dollars. There was also some Jewelry DLC that runs for 3 Dollars and isn't worth it, 4 items with just one exclusive one that is only useful if you suck at an already easy game.

Can you go Gear 4th with the pre-timeskip costume? If yes, then the moveset shouldn't be an issue for a pre-timeskip Franky. Only the size would be different but that's about it. It's quite common to give a same moveset to different character models with no regards of size. In this case the two different models would just be the same character.
PT Luffy can go Gear 4th it even removes his scar. I also double check Franky's move set and all his moves besides Franky Cannon would work for the other model. PT Franky has Franky Destroy Cannon which has a similar effect/look, however that would require them to make a new model and rig it properly which make me think we won't see it until they release the Pre-Order as payed DLC
@Greg said in "One Piece Odyssey" trademark registered by Shueisha and Bandai Namco:
The constant reliance on old material bc of the need to 'catch attention of new fans'.
It reminds me of movie 9 in how even though Robin and Franky are in it they essentially just replaced Vivi and Karoo and told the same story despite the changes.
And maybe worst of all, the soul-crushing adherence to pointless, unrewarding and unskippable fetch-quests that only inflate game time.
Alabasta is the only section that has purposeless detours, entering that cave or fighting the food/water stealing bandits don't add anything to the story or the gameplay. The other arc tie those sections in with the narrative better and don't feel like the game id just wasting your time for the heck of it.
Being tasked with 'gathering your crew' after beating Croc. While the above-mentioned issue has literally no purpose other than padding out time, the goal of this menial task is to acquaint the player with post-war Alabasta. This would be a worthy notion if it was:
A. Actually related to the town and its people.
B. Benefited the player at its conclusion.
But no, the core of the quest is finding people who should be with you anyway and theres very little to do in the town besides collect a few shinies. In fact, it seems that all breakable items are actually missing items if you've already collected them making it even more pointless. The biggest slap in the face comes with having to collect Robin who, like the cave, makes you run out to an end of the map only to tell you she won't come with you, forcing you to manually run all the way back having accomplished nothing.I found this section to be really charming it reminded me of when a arc would end and the anime would air a few episodes of filler where the crew were just hanging out doing their own things. Though it is really funny how Robin says "I will not talk to Vivi in One Piece Odyssey."

I guess a season pass is likely because selling this content for this price is a "tad" high. I do like that there is a pre-timeskip Brook though. Hope that one will be available at a cheaper price. Also a pre-timeskip Franky would be nice.
Due to how Anime games work it's usually safe to assume and DLC worth 25 to 30$ is a season pass. Bandai usually sells the Pre-order bonus for around 4, I don't believe it will be too expensive as most of the costumes (besides Brooks) exist in the game for a cutscene.
Franky most likely not receive a pre-time skip costume due to the differences in model (Past franky doesn't have nipple lights after all). As a compromise they let pre-timeskip Franky be a companion in Water 7 for a bit, though it hardly compares.

Yep, that's the stuff I've read at the store page. I was curious what that "expansion content will be available after the main game has been cleared." actually is. I'd like to know if it's worth dishing out the extra money for the expansion.
That is all I know about the Adventure expansion, also all store pages (steam, Playstation) list a 1/13 release, But I can't confirm that that content exists yet. The steam page doesn't list any achievements that you would need a dlc to do like "beat DLC chapter" so it should be fine ignoring it.
I see. Have you purchased the Adventure Expansion set then? I just ask because I'm curious if you are supposed to have it but couldn't find it yet.
I bought the Deluxe Edition which should allow me to access the Adventure Expansion. I have all the DLC downloaded I already have the 100,000 berry bonus, because I started the game with 200,000 berry 100,000 which came from the Pre-Order content. I don't have the Ultra Useful Accessory Set but I might get that in the post game which I probably won't reach until the 16th-17th.
It being out might refer the the 100,000 berry I got too.

RE: "One Piece Odyssey" trademark registered by Shueisha and Bandai Namco
As I have reached around 10 hours of play time, I am going to write my general thoughts about as of right i might ramble a little bit so sorry for that in advanced.
Upon booting up the game the first thing I noticed was how good the game actually looked, I had watched most of the trailers and gameplay demos release, but probably due to compression it how great it actually looked. Though it may look great to me because of my unfamiliarity with modern games.
For reference ended up pre-ordering the deluxe edition. Mainly for that (from what i can tell) exclusive Sogeking outfit, though It’s nice to have the dlc tossed in with that. Add in the classic costumes and it's a nice package to start let's hope it was worth in the end. Though the classic costumes shouldn't have been a pre-order bonus but standard game content. As it's all reused models from the cutsceens; which can be weird as Nami is in her striped shirt past Arlong Park. The other offerings 200,000 beli some apples a revive, nothing game breaking nor too useful in the early game (you'd have to suck real bad for it to provide any benefit).
The deluxe edition also tossed in two extra accessories, I got one 10% tp discount and a 10% dodge. Which probably represent accessories found in the late game I may use them till then too. I don't find them too game breaking as unlike most purple accessories they only have the one skill slot and can't be upgraded in the camp. Which means they'll probably tossed aside for better accessories half-way through the game.
