RE: Movies that don't deserve their own thread
I just rewatched Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World recently and it's still a damn good movie It's such a shame that we didn't get some sequels with a prime Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany. I'm almost tempted to read the books by Patrick O'Brian. I hear there is a prequel film in development but I just can't get excited about it with no Crowe, Bettany and director Peter Weir.
I love a good nautical film. I might just rewatch The Hunt for Red October and Crimson Tide next

RE: Why do people hate James Cameron's Avaturd?
That's because it was actually filmed with 3D in mind while other films retrofitted it on after the fact to make a quick buck.
Coraline which was actually filmed with two cameras did it well, and CG animated films in general do it really well since its nothing for them to render alt perspectives. How to Train Your Dragon and its flying sequences in particular was apparently really good.
Yeah, I never saw any of those films in the cinema either. It makes sense though. I did think the 3D worked really well in the first Doctor Strange movie. I saw the sequel recently, alas, in 2D. My friends get headaches watching stuff in 3D, so we had to pass up that opportunity.

RE: Why do people hate James Cameron's Avaturd?
Didn't see the first one in the cinemas when it came out. I only saw it on our small 32" TV screen back in '09. I've always heard people talk about how great the 3D was and how this movie is the only thing that did it so well during those few years when it seemed like every movie was coming out in 3D. I look forward to seeing the re-release of the first film in IMAX 3D as well as this new sequel.

RE: Aoashi
Episode five was wholesome as fuck and had me in tears.
Yeah I was not expecting to be hit in the feels with the family drama in a football anime

RE: What manga are you reading and how do you like it? What do you plan to read?
It being by the same guy as Believers makes me interested. I didn't think that was great by any means but I'm interested in seeing more by him possibly.
He certainly has a unique approach to storytelling that makes you curious to pick up some of his work. And the fact that they are not big in terms of chapter count means that you can go for a quick read and not invest too much time in something you may or may not like.

RE: Ousama Ranking (Ranking of Kings)
The voice acting has been on point as well. I can't believe Domas and Loid Forger from Spy x Family share the same VA.

RE: Jujutsu Kaisen
I like how the fights have been getting more and more creative, like the stand battles in JJBA or the nen battles in HxH, since we started introducing more sorcerers. The fights against cursed spirits seem to be lacking in this regard, IMO.

RE: What manga are you reading and how do you like it? What do you plan to read?
I finished Arigatou by Naoki Yamamoto recently. It was a strange blend of dark/serious subject matter and humorous execution.
Synopsis: A depressing story about how a Japanese family's life goes wrong: an immoral protagonist, her sister who was gang raped before, her alcoholic mother who later devoted her life to a cult, and her father who lost favor with his company… full of sexual content and highly violent.
Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life, Ecchi
I had previously read Believers by the same author years ago. I hear Believers is getting a live action film adaptation soon.
