@MDL that would be nice time for CCC's weekly translation analysis, but MHA fans harassed him out of twitter.

And here's why we don't let the thread open.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
One of the few things I can't criticize Hori, is that in Toga's arc is that Hori is constantly hammering to his very japanese audience that trying to enforce conformity and homogeneity create very miserable people.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
On Toga, my stance aside of her being a fictional character, is that if you put her quirk as a psychopathology and analyze on the same vein as irl she still doesn't fall along the line of antisocial serial killer that lives for the thrill of violence.
The wish for blood is what leads to the actions of violence. There's irl people indulging in mutualistic vampirism, could Toga have led a normal life if she ever met such a group of people? Probably. Certainly? Not enough data to conclude.@zeltrax225 said in My Hero Academia II - A true Hero:
Evolution and extinction happen because of natural selection. Your point might be but if we are compassion, accepting, then maybe the human race will evolve further into one that co-exist with people such as Toga. But in more general cases of evolution, we have also removed the parts that we don't need and/or the parts that we don't need fail to survive. That's my point.
Evolution and Extinction happens aside of natural selection. Before there were enough bacterias living to start the process of selection the natural phenomena causing evolution and extinction existed for a long time.
My point is that being a societal - not only gregarious - animal, mankind has already surpassed basic natural selection. We don't kill a blind infant, we don't kill an infant with rare genetic diseases, not we kill the albino or the ginger. Genetic nearsightedness wasn't eliminated, wasn't that a detrimental to hunter gathers and early pastoral agrarian societies?
We CAN and SHOULD co-exist with unequals, even if said unequals are self destructive or destructive.
Thinking that we - humans - need to remove less desired traits or beneficial to follow a biological law that explains evolution of species outside of societal structure is dangerous close to eugenic. -

RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
@andre
I this this new approach (Boruto model) is too dependent on the wishes of the author. We have people like Fujimoto and Aka that said they want to solely write their series - Aka already doing that. I think it's a part of a new generation of japanese people relationship with work post their financial bubble break.Togashi is from an older generation, with a different relationship to work and that grew up idolizing people with even worse dedications to the craft such as:
But more particular to Boruto case, I don't think Kishimoto wanted to go back to the Narutoverse. Boruto was created to keep the franchise milking and he gave blessing for other people write on somethings he planned. He only got back to the manga after he failed tremendously with his space samurai series.

RE: Star Wars Universe - Resurrection F
So I watched Andor on the weekend. I'm on @Nobodyman 's boat.
It's a very well done series, with a strong script, and good acting (in SW nonetheless), but I didn't see something of the immense hype the series was getting.
Andor - as character - was a bit flat, but I guess the point at this moment was that he was flat before joining the rebellion.
He's a fill in for the watcher to understand how an autorotation regime can fuck anyone's life to the point the options are death or armed insurrection. Necropolitics at it's finest. Wonder if somebody on the writing team read Achille Mbembe.Don't know exactly the point of keeping following Karn's character after his first interrogation with Dedra. Unless they want her to personally recruit him. Was his point to highlight how one's person careerism may lead to a person handwaving fascism?

RE: Non-Disney animation thread
@andre No, they made the movie with the intention that it could be an entry point - so they toned down on certain things the series has touched.

RE: Marvel Movies Thread - Holy Shitballs
Saw GoT3 this weekend, very good movie. Best one of MCU since Endgame.
The GoT3 trilogy was really solid, probably the best of the MCU.
Loved how the High Evolutionary was played. And Rocket's flashback was veeeeery painful. -

RE: Phoebe And Her Unicorn! (Now ANIMATED!!!)
Didn't knew this series, will look up for the comic strip. It's always awful to see a project being axed due to dumb reasons.
So I take the only "real requirements" for being a Hollywood executive are: being terrible out of touch with times, thing the 50s US was the GOLDEN DAYS of history, and attend CPAC. -

Might as well start a thread. Jolly good start.
Copernicus best boy.
Also yes, there is a Unicorn. Also please tell me I not the only one that notice a particular character design that's not quite all Gendy...it has some roundness of form that bears influence from another source. Is it Asterix? Chowder? It's driving me mad.

I've seen that "deprogramming" trend on social media, and I made the mistake of clicking on it.
My issue is not about the messenger but about the message. Deprogram Trump supporters from what, american exceptionalism? Eugenic Race theory so popular in the American Continent and Europe up to this day? About neoliberalism? Because whether you like it or not all those things are not exclusive to the MAGA people.
The criticism is hallow because it's without a "real" target - beyond those who didn't vote for me - and because is hypocrite as what MAGA people belief is just the strain of American exceptionalism and nationalism taken to it's ultime conclusion.
