D'oh, I had missed that answer. I guess, it would boil down to how the crisis is showcased. For example if we see once again the crew and everyone running away from an island-wide toxic gas cloud, then the core crisis would still be "evade big cloud" and I would find the situation redudant regardless of the actual effects of the gas or whatever gaz-related novelty Oda might try to introduce. If on the other hand the gas weapon only serves as a background threat to a different crisis processus, or if the crisis revolves around preventing its activation instead, then it might create interest and novelty that I enjoy.
As for a possible elephant-threatening plot device, I do agree that a weapon of mass destruction would be the most likely candidate considering the sheer size of Zushina. But then, maybe there can be a different sort of crisis. Most arcs so far involved an island-wide threat, but not all of those were about physically destroying the island and everyone on it (the civil war in Alabasta, for example). Maybe here on Zou, with the samurais as an unknown quantity, we could be heading towards a conflict between the day and night mink tribes and that would be the crisis to prevent. Or maybe I'm overthinking things and a pissed wounded Jack will wash ashore and do another nutjob rampage, although that would feel a bit simplistic as far as plots go.
–--
Has anyone thought that when we saw the face of Zou, that could be from the effects of taking in the poison. It could be slowly dying and we may have chopper put more of his doctor skills to the forefront as he tries to cure the 'island.'

RE: Chapter 797: Rebecca
! @Australopithecus:
! > Well, I wanted to share my thoughts about Rebecca. Rebecca’s life turned upside down at the age of six. From then on, every citizen at every nook and cranny in Dressrosa has begun bearing his fangs at her because of the misguided notion that her grandfather was the cause of their suffering and casualties ‘that night’.Normally, when a person finds herself in that kind of situation, she will eventually develop retaliative behavior in order to vent her exasperation, frustration, and so forth. However, Rebecca is different in this aspect. She is a naturally kind person and, on top of that, she made a promise to her deceased mother to never ever harm anyone. Being faithful to her mother’s wishes and her kind nature, she vents those poisonous emotions through crying.
In this week’s chapter, she has abdicated the kingly throne, which is notably enviable by a profusion of people; embraced her father’s past crimes and sins without a second thought; and decided to live with him regardless of public opinion. She really has a beautifully tender nature. No wonder Oda-sensei made her story a central focus of this arc.
I want to talk about Barto. Barto has a lot of cool, funny reactions, which appeal a lot to the readers - reactions among which is the distorted vision of Tsuru and Sengoku, and the teary fright that surfaced at the sight of Fujitora’s coming. He will make a decent addition to Luffy‘s crew. He has a lot of funny, behavioral traits, too – just what you would expect from another Straw Hat.
I would like to see his faith in Luffy challenged when Luffy starts experiencing ephemeral moments of defeat at the hands of an overwhelmingly strong opponent(Kaido?). I want to see the depth of such faith. Will it waver, or will it stand firm until the end? I am really curious about this answer.
Bellamy goes without saying. I love that guy. He was loyal until the end. He reminds me of Squardo, whose faith in his father easily crumbled when the marines hoodwinked him by an intellectual sleight of hand, causing him to stab him(Whitebeard). In such cases, Bellamy’s faith does not waver. I like people like him.
Furthermore, his membership of the Straw Hats will also symbolize the absolution of past mistakes. For such reasons, I will be glad to see him as one of the Straw Hats. It's nice to see a good character analysis of Rebecca. People take for granted the extent of the childhood she had to endure. I also find it contradictory how people never get upset or mention how often her father kyros cries. She may just be an emotional person, a trait inherited from kyros.
Apart from that though, I like how you mentioned that her way to excise negative emotions was through tears. I'm sure many can understand the feeling of wanting to hit someone but having to restrain yourself. Emotions need a release and crying is a natural one, unfortunately it's also looked down upon in American society in my opinion.

RE: Chapter 796: The Soldiers Decision
Or maybe she will pull the 20 month pregnancy in the future.
What isn't possible after a 20 month pregnancy.
I think we could logistically agree.
Roger would have left his wife some protection.
We do know nami's birthplace was a harsh battlefield. If someone could post a picture of when she was found that would be great.
Pure speculation:the battle to get rouge, left the town devastated and that town could be where Nami was born. It'll be quite interesting if the parents of our crew start getting revealed. Franky,Sanji and Nami the most.
-
RE: Chapter 796: The Soldiers Decision
Are you high bro?
On the idea of good speculation and discussion. You've caught me. :ninja:
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm in no way saying that Nami was Ace's sister and Ace was older I believe but the resemblance with rouge is quite uncanny
I'll be the first to give you credit if it's true.
-
RE: Chapter 796: The Soldiers Decision
Nice drawback, it would be amazing if she was actually related to ace. Would the brothers add a sister to the three cups? The daughter of roger on luffys crew? The marines would go crazy to get the pirate kings, current son and pirate king of the pasts grandson. Nami D. Roger/Rose

I have cavities that chapter was so sweet; delightfully delicious page by page.

RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
I see no reason for person to get so worked up over manga character that doesnt fit their expectations(but author is continuously consistent with that character).
As for poisoning this sub forum - I guess that truth(for many what I wrote is truth) isnt always nice to look at. And even if it doesnt fit for 100% of complainers I am sure it fits for many and perhaps thinking about "lack of other problems" could help some people distance themselves a bit from discussion. I am telling this from lately detached from this place pov. Ignoring some of main reasons of something that is viewed by many as problematic is one of reasons problem continues and its effects are not lessened.Maybe I am just not that much into discussion as I was before. Its very disturbing to see some people repeating their negative opinions even after they were based on things that were discussed milion times already. Like Rebecca and Odas sexism- Oda is parent and he added some family-relation themes into manga, lately he is giving more attention to "saving children". During Punk Hazard we had Strawhats saving children, now we have Rebecca aaand we even have "Doflamingo family" as a group of villains. Oda clearly wants to touch upon more of family bonds subject. He was consistent with Doflamingo family rules and he also does same thing with Rebecca.
Other person that was so consistent with his way that it hurt readers - Bellamy. That is another example of Oda creating CHARACTER and sticking to it, not throwing left and right magically super resolved characters beating far stronger enemies. Maybe some of people from here were reading too many other mangas that worked like that and gotten to expect same thing to chappen with Bellamy or Rebecca.
Rebecca that is 16 years old girl that doesnt want to hurt anybody. Oda wanted to show through Dressrosa that Rebecca even while being daughter of Gladiator Kyros, doesnt want to hurt anybody as she is very delicate person. Not all women need to be Trantino-strong females.
Though even as people mock Rebecca for being weak and useless - she managed to avoid fatal blow from Hakuba while loved by most people here "so strong" Dellinger gotten slain and wasnt even able to react to Hakubas speed. All depends on how Oda prefers to portray a character.
That's a really good point about Rebecca and hakuba which she really doesn't seem to get credit for.

Anyone think ichiryuu could come back with center?

RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
I can agree with this. I was on board the "Rebecca will help eventually" train for two years and even defended her, up until about 15 chapters ago when she was firmly sidelined by Kyros and Robin. Now I've definitely soured against her.
You're completely right that it's easier to make an unassuming character amazing than to string along an audience on expectations. That doesn't mean she still wasn't handled poorly.
This would be fine, except that she pointedly attacked Diamante 50 chapters ago and Gatz highlighted that aberration from her normal tactics in his narration. Rebecca has shown her enmity towards the Donquixote family and expressed her willingness to attack them multiple times. She wanted to defeat Diamante (at first) and wants to take down Doflamingo with her own hands. Her style comes from her training with her father, her intention to avoid hurting people unnecessarily, and her defiance of the bloodlust of the Doflamingo's Colosseum.
Besides, there are other ways of being important and contributing to the plot besides beating up someone.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
If you asked Enel's priests if they can use Haki you'd probably get the same response.
I'm glad we could agree on a point
For her actions towards diamanté, I'd have to refresh myself on those early chapters.
I do think her actions to lift her sword to attack is part of her character arc, or maybe moreso exploring her decisions when she has reason to attack. She didn't have a reason to injure the gladiators, but if your in a fight and your mothers killer begins taunting you, I think it's fair to say you'll feel some anger, and emotions can cause you to want to attack them, so if your holding a sword you'll use it, but her aunt and her father, see that it'll change her.
I guess in another way, look at how nami was treated as a baby, nojiko and bellemerre protected her from the reality of the war torn village that she grew up in.
Or in real world terms, I could be involved in a gang lifestyle, since I know what the impact of that lifestyle is I don't want my kids in it, but i'm already a part of that world so I'm stuck living in it. I hope that makes some sense.
I agree that there are others way to be important then beating someone up though.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Luffy already had to save Violet and stop Becca, he would also have to save Sanji from certain death so yeah, an even worse situation.
Similar to how Law saved Sanji from certain death?

RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
Well, didn't notice this before. Of course this kind of thing turns personal eventually. No, P1nk, I don't think I'm projecting. I'm just extremely annoyed at the developing trends with female character writing in this manga.
To give some positivity, like I said in my initial thoughts, I really like the fact that Doflamingo trusts his crew. I want it to have honesty. If it doesn't Doflamingo will turn into a much more generic villain to me. That little piece of humanity makes him more unique in my eyes.
When I madd it personal it wasn't to attack you which is why I included myself in the example as well.
It's okay to be annoyed by it though.

RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
@Mr.:
That is why, so far, I'm stunned by how useless the has ended up–not worthless as he has an important role thematically in the arc and related to other characters, but in a more utilitarian sense that she has done near to nothing to aid the Strawhats other than befriend Luffy early on.
And yes, how impressive she seemed early on as a fighter, reluctant or not, didn't factor in at all once the chips were down and the fate of the country was at stake she just wimpered throughout. Hell, Mansherry has more cred than she does. Mansherry. Going back to Punk Hazard Mocha, a young child, had more guts than Rebecca has had during the lengthy birdcage climax.
That also brings me to another point. Being less useful or cowardly is alright in this series if it's done in a comedic or fun way. Characters like Camie, Pappag, Wicca, Mansherry….they are at least funny at times and somewhat served as comic relief to offset how minimal their contributions were overall. This includes SH characters like Usopp, Chopper & Nami, who have a fun, lighthearted side to them that makes us not take their failures too seriously. But when a character like Rebecca shows up, an entirely dramatic & dead serious one at that, that doesn't come close to living up to the early hype, one can't help but to draw dislike toward that character.
Your responsible for your own hype though. She was touted as being someone who never injured an opponent, so to expect her to injure someone would be the opposite of her characterization. Like expecting sanji to finish off an opponent with his fists.
-
RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
The thing is, we're not really supposed to care about Gatz that much. He was basically just a comedic feature, a blank slate with vaguely sympathetic sentiments to be built upon. Rebecca was always clearly intended to be important but has lacked the unique personality or efficacy to endear her to fans. Most of her purpose in the story is to be the object of protection to motivate someone else. There's only ever been one point in Dressrosa where Rebecca was actually successful, and that's managing to dodge.
It's not necessarily a bad thing that she's weaker than most serious fighters on the island - that just shows she's out of her depth and hypes the Strawhats, Donquixote family, etc. What is bad is that she's repeatedly been put in these situations, and that they've all been solved in the same way: looking surprised when someone steps in and then crying from the sidelines. Ideally there's supposed to be some emotion tied in, and occasionally we feel it, but Rebecca's willingness to idly stand by when it matters most kills her efficacy. It's hard to like a character who is so thoroughly useless.
I can't really argue your opinions, it's hard to define whom we should care about in my opinion.
Maybe it's just that Gatz isn't burdened by the expectations put upon Rebecca. Expectation postponed makes the heart sick.
-
RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
I have quite a few problems with Rebecca
s character, too. I would even go so far that at this point, her character "arc" is Dressrosa
s biggest flaw. To be clear, I personally dont have a problem with her crying out for help at the end. I mean, she is facing Doflamingo and it was clear she ultimately wouldn
t stand a chance against him. The problem I have that she just cant manage to contribute anything before this. Other princess characters like Vivi or Shirahoshi weren
t the strongest fighters, either, but they all accomplished things, they helped save people and played a part in the conflict. And right now, pretty much every other single character in Dressrosa is doing that, too….except Rebecca. She states that she wants to help, too, by facing Doflamingo, and yet she becomes a burden again and again. She doesnt even manage to stall Doflamingo like Violet, nope, the second she gets involved, she needs to be saved. I don
t even want her to shed blood or anything. Im fine with her staying true to her pacifist ways, and I think it would be the wrong message that she needs to overcome pacifism to be useful. I don
t even understand why some people here are so annoyed by the pacifism aspect of her and other characters in this arc. Some people dont like using violence, and they should be allowed to stay true to their ideals, guys. The thing is, though, a character can still be useful without being brutal. Gatz is a perfect example here, he isn
t a fighter, and yet he still does what he can to help everybody, even if it means getting injured in the process. But Rebecca is never useful, even though we know she has certain skills, she just....does nothing. And for a character that started out stating that she doesn`t want to be protected all the time and instead wants to protect somebody else for a change, this is a very, very disappointing, anti-climatic character arc.Still, I
m always hesitant to make broad generalisations about stuff like this. Oda did a weak job in writing Rebecca
s character, but that does not mean he is an evil sexist who is not able to write strong women characters. I mean, in this very same chapter where Rebecca fails, Oda lets Violet face Doflamingo. Of course, she has as much of a chance of beating him as those gladiators had a few chapters ago. But still, it`s a nice moment for her character, and she is not just portrayed as a helpless damsel in distress, but as a capable fighter and a strong woman, who puts on a smile in the face of certain death to comfort her scared niece.Imagine where gatz's character would be if not for the last 3 chapters. I believe oda, can still add to Rebecca. I mean, look how people were fawning over the cover page 2 weeks ago with law saying how much better it was then the entire jimbei cover story arc. Rebecca's story is still not finished.

RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
What experiences of my life? The hell are you on about. If there is a specific pattern going on with the female characters in the story that you don't see with the male characters, the story is sexist in that aspect and it implies certain things about women. If all the female characters are crying princesses waiting to be saved, what does this say about the writer and what you're supposed to take away from the story?
This has been a Darth week for me. I feel like I'm repeating myself a lot at this point, so I'll just stop.
Let me explain. We each have our own life experiences, which shapes the way we view information that we take in. I don't know your life; although what you've experienced MIGHT be causing you to associate it with a negative connotation. Likewise I don't make the same connection that you have based upon my own experiences. I'm saying your feelings are Valid, but it's not fair to point out a few instances to support your claim when there are other instances in direct opposition.
Oda himself has never stated women as a whole shouldn't fight or can't fight in the manga.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Monet's defeat was stupid and very characteristic of how women are defeated in the series (emotionally), but it also took wierd kind of stalling, just compare it to zoro defeating Hyozo. Just cut her. But no he has to "scare" her. Tashigi and Rebecca never evolved as characters, even if they were set up to do so.
Rebecca has had a character arc, during dressross she has grown and changed as a person if that counts for 'evolution'
-
RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
It is a big deal solely for the fact that so many of their arcs evolve around being rescued despite there being a lot less women than men.
It's not about a secret agenda or that men have been rescued as well. it's about what that kind of treatment implies about women and that it is a repeating pattern.
There may be a repeating pattern, but your supplying your own 'implications about women.' It's unfair to take your own life experience and apply that to select portions of a story you feel were poorly written.
-
RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
Robin and Nami were among the best characters of the series before the time skip. Its now that Oda has reduced them to simple fanservice material and every other female character is a pathetic princess in distress.
People bashed Kishimoto (rightly so) for his treatment of women in Naruto and One Piece is not going in a better direction.
Seriously, have you seen Sakura's development?
-
RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
The point is not about "Women can't get hurt", it's about "Women shouldn't fight". And he had plenty examples of that during this arc.
Jaroda (that art -lady?) - managed to take out some strawhats, but messed the mission up because one of them said "Hey, we're totally cool."
Baby 5 - changed sides and betrayed the people who raised her because someone said something remotely nice. Because, all girls are into that love-schmuck, right?
The lady with the vacuum cleaner - you know how that went
Rebecca - gets destroyed in almost every fight she was in, despite her experience and Haki-abilities. Says she doesn't want to be protected anymore but repeately calls out for people to save her
Viola - challenges an overpowered enemy for no reason (what was she expecting?), only to get destroyed withing minutes to be saved by a guy.At first you were upset that women weren't physical fighters.
Then you were upset that Rebecca hasn't done anything.
Now your saying that it's the message women shouldn't fight.
This very chapter disproves that though.
Viola fought, in a physical manner and got hurt.
Rebecca is near doflamingo because she wanted to do something.
It seems your more disappointed with the outcome of the actions of certain characters which is fine.
To say oda has a secret agenda against women is another matter. Men have shown themselves to be ineffective and in need of help as well.
-
RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
! @carcanclaw:
I'm getting flustered because nothing has happened with her, at all.
Her entire character sends the message that pretty women should not be physical fighters which, combined with last arc's deconstruction of Tashigi, really makes it seem like Oda has some very strong political views on the role of female characters in fiction.
Certainly her character had had an arch and made decisions. If your unhappy with those decisions that's perfectly reasonable since its your feelings. Maybe we differ on our view of nothing though.
I don't know oda, but to judge him based upon the story he rights for a comic book is like judging Stephen Colbert off of the character he portrays on his old tv show.
I'm not really qualified to analyze tashigi's character, however I can say Rebecca has been solidly represented as a character with consistency. I don't see where it's explicitly stated or implied that pretty women can't be hurt in this chapter given the blood on violet's face.
Her core character trait is based upon non-violence.
-
RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
Rebecca is useless to the point of comedy.
And you know what? She's going to end up in a dress at the end of this arc. Her sword is broken now, she's proven herself to be a liability to more capable men in every fight she's ever been in. She'll come out in a dress during the inevitable banquet at what remains of Riku's castle and everyone will smile and cheer that she's now filling her appropriate role.
Mark my words, that's what will happen. The message it sends is loud, clear, and awful.
Aren't you getting flustered over something that hasn't happened especially since her story arc isn't over.
-
RE: Chapter 789: Lucy!!
Hello,
I really hate the previous chapter. I am tired of the Dressrosa arc and especially the birdcage and Fujitora. But man, what a great chapter this one is. I liked and enjoyed every single panel of it. And I'll like it more when I'll read the official jump translations. I am looking forward to what's coming.I'm glad you had a turnaround. I think it's fair to dislike any chapter, unfortunately it feels like many just make up reasons to find a false sense of justification.
Whereas that same effort can be used to find and positive. I think it's a shame how people are poo pooing Rebecca, when she's shown remarkable courage. Not to mention everything she's had to deal with in the past 6-8 hour time span.
I'm sure most people commenting here would be in a state of emotional shock to find out one of their dead loved ones wasn't dead after all, then have multiple confrontations with your parents killer.
I think the biggest issue is as the weeks go by, along with fatigue people just forget those small bits from earlier chapters, including the mad rush while reading the chapter. It's like eating without chewing, you have to take time to let the flavour rest in your tongue.
-
RE: Chapter 788: "My Fight"
and yet the cage is holding up just fine even against, an admiral, half of the strawhat crew, 2 samurai, an army of tontattas, a crap load of powerfull gladiators, the crew of a marine battleship, and the countless citizens of an entire country
all of them pushing against it, and barely able to keep it from shrinking
I'm not sure what point your trying to get at but I will say the varying degrees of health and stamina for all within the birdcage isn't at their peak. It's a temporary boost that they just started to receive, which stopped incredibly strong strings for a second. Would you prefer that all of them together didn't make an impact?
If you were to argue what combined force is stronger, that of everyone on dressrosa or whitebeards crew, I think it'd all just end in semantics. All we can say for sure when it comes to strength is that white beard was the strongest man in the world and Marco was powerful enough to be desired by shanks.
I personally would put the combined power of the Whitebeard Crew above that of those on dressrosa, that's just my humble opinion though.
-
RE: Chapter 788: "My Fight"
@Mr.:
I see what you did there. And I would be very surprised if we got such an unlikely reveal.
Evitently not. Birdcage > any change in gravity, which suggests Birdcage > the basic laws of physics
Which is concrete proof that Birdcage > Seastone.
Remember, the only reason Birdcage is not cutting the Seastone is that Seastone has the unique property of nullifying DF Powers, though apparently not enough to actually get rid of the strings.
At what point was that 'reason' stated in the manga?
the Birdcage is just ridiculous, Dofla could have litterally dropped it on the bay of Marineford, when the Whitebeard pirates showed up ,and they could have done nothing about it…
he doesn't even need to stay inside of it since he can simply make it pop out of a string clone, nullifying the only possible downside of that damn thing
That's a good guess your making, but I highly doubt it would work on the worlds strongest man at that point who had the power of earthquakes. There was also a swordsman capable of challenging Mihawk who might give a good shot at it. Along with a Phoenix human that could allow himself to go through it presumably then heal afterwards. Just sayin
-
RE: Chapter 788: "My Fight"
I can understand people who like the chapters, I have no problem with that and I keep reading "One piece" because I still like most of it. But please, allow me to have a different opinion than yours. You think family members are indoors, I didn't know that and I am sure I did not miss the part where they were taken indoors. If you can please tell me where I can find this information.
And to be honest this is not very important to me. At least not as important as : Admiral/Zoro/Don/Sai/Prodence king/Burgess/Sabo cannot do anything to mingo or his fucking bird cage.
Lower ranking one are, But what about the Elite officers can't remember they indoors or not?
Chapter 774 pages 4-10 covers everyone's complaints about mansherry. (How can I post pictures?)
I apologize if my initial post came off as attacking. Each person is entitled to their opinion. However many people are just throwing out petty gripes about the manga based upon something unfounded in the manga.
If your gonna call something bad all I'm saying is make sure it actually happened in the story don't complain about something that hasn't happened yet or something that's been misinterpreted.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Lol I totally called it with fairy dust from Mansherry, albeit they were more like dandelions.
Is Rebecca really watching Viola get killed and doing nothing to stop it, I know she can't stop it but just crying, I hope she's doing something.
Will Viola (if she survives) use this whole "I dishonoured the royal family by working for Mingo" thing as a way to leave Dressrosa and join Luffy's crew?? The panel with Franky's cyborg eye was epic as hell. Viola is too darn sexy, usually you'd look like that before a date, not before a dance with the devil. If someone would just give Luffy meat! All this strenuous exercise and effort would be unnecessary. So an admiral can't do nothing to birdcage? I think I'm, with regret, going to have to think Fuji is a lower tier admiral (I'm kidding, Doffy is just hax). We've never actually seen Doflamingo seriously hurt a lady, other than maybe kicking baby 5 away, I guess he's no Sanji lol. How epic it would have been if Sanji were to witness Viola get brutalised? He'd pull a Vegeta and for a brief moment surpass Luffy in power "you hurt my Violaaaaa!!!" ah well, missed opportunity. I like how Oda threw a middle finger back at the fans and answered all their questions in one chapter, so many asking why Barto isn't using his barrier, why Fuji isn't doing anything meaningful etc if there is a named character casualty in this arc it would unfortunate but would make it more memorable. This chapter got my adrenaline pumping.I enjoy your enthusiasm. Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?
-
RE: Chapter 788: "My Fight"
Are you sure about it? Sabo and Burgess are fighting each other, even though they risk to die from the bird cage. Really, this is really getting more stupid as time passes. So, Don Chinjao, Sai who are both capable to open a continent, the wonderful Sabo, the amazing Burgess, Zoro and a fucking admiral cannot do anything to the birdcage. Even the smallest, tiniest or infinitesimal thing. Wow, just wow.
And why don't mansherry's powers and tears reach or touch any of the doflamingo's family members?
Very, very, very disappointed by these last parts of this arc.Do flamingo family members are indoors, thus not outside to be affected by the tears.
It's a shame that people in this thread latch onto such small things to find a complaint.
-
RE: Chapter 788: "My Fight"
NICE CHAPTER wthefer you like or not
I agree with you. This chapter touched upon most people's complaints for the past 10 or so chapters. I think people set unreadable expectations, then like a starving man complain about the food's temperature instead of taking time to savor the spices.
Violas pose and the double spread hands on the barrier, along with the detail of mini-dress rosa inside the cage were all well done art to me.

RE: Chapter 788: "My Fight"
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/788
Summary by Aohige-senpai
! Chapter 788 "My fight"
! 3 minutes left until the Birdcage reaches the center of city.
Bunch of nameless gladiators tries to stop Doflamigo, but are obliterated instantly.
Gatz runs carrying Luffy even though Lucy's recovery won't make it in time
Law uses shambles to appear in front of them, and says he'll take care of him now.
! South-Eastern city of Sepio:
Barto uses his indestructible barrier in front of the birdcage, and the gladiators all push the barrier to stop the progress.
Leo is seen pushing the barrier as well, and explains to Robin what the princess is doing.
! "Chiyupopo" (Healing-Sunflowers)
She can turn her tears into sunflower shape and float the air, covering the whole city.
We see a man who broke his ankle and cannot run from the birdcage instantly getting healed ad runs
But the power is not limitless… it has a big glaring problem.
! The heal is temporary.
! After a few minutes, the power will wear off, and the state of the person recovers back to what it was before the heal.
The gladiators are moving now due to the heal, but they will revert back to severely injured state afterwards.
! Princess is on the back of Kabu, flying above the city pouring the Chiyupopo all over the city.
She says she has no power to fight bad guys, but her tears won't stop flowing. But THIS is her fight.
On the ground people are praising at the miracle, screaming god has come to this land in the time of crisis.
! God Usopp yells at the citizens while being carried on the back of Hack.
He orders them to head to East and West, to help push the birdcage back.
They are at first reluctant, thinking it's no use, but he hollers at them to trust his teammates and go!
! Rebecca heads to stop Doflamingo, in case the birdcage is unstoppable.
But Viola has arrived first. Viola tells Rebecca to not do anything foolish, she needs to stay alive after this.
Dofla asks Viola "Then why did you com here, Viola?" Viola takes her coat off, and faces off Doflamingo.
She means to settle the score, as the final member of Donquixote family still standing. She means to fight him to the death.
! Franky and co are pushing the Factory in north east, while behind the factory Zoro and the two samurai are pushing the birdcage with their swords.
They aren't sure if it's working.
Fujitora shows up, lending himself and his sword to push back.
! The marines, the citizens, all rush to each corner of the city to help Zoro, Franky, and and Gladiators push back the birdcage.
With the whole city helping out, the birdcage comes to a halt with a crashing, booming sound!

RE: Chapter 787: "4 minutes"
Ehm… Let me see... Law was able to tell Luffy is losing haki. He sees DoFla on a rampage through the city (Look at the panels in this chapter) and no Luffy in sight... He should realize it as well
And yeah maybe he isn't seeing it... But what about the others... Why isn't Gatz running towards them for help. No one can tell me that NO ONE of the "bigger" players is able to help out
Law more then likely has his CoO tuned to Luffy and DoFlamingo since his utmost concern is the outcome, also he knew when Luffy started his form was one that heavily drained hall. So an educated guess.
Others are mentioning good points so i'll expound on my first ones.
I think we could agree Zoro is the only strawhat in a position to end DoFlamingo.
He left earlier to confront the cage and once he sets his mind on a challenge he will meet it.
Also gatz main goal is to keep luffy from harm, how exactly would he know where to find other big players.
If your determined not to be told none of the other players can help out. Maybe it'll happen next chapter, if not you'll just be unsatified unless another poster elaborates on it.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And did you miss they have been "healed"… And Gatz should search for them. But maybe he will
Back to the "sparks"
I still think the sparkles are this
Some people maybe found a way through birdcage… Maybe at the top there is some opening for whatever reasons...
But who?
In my dreams... SHs + Law's crew... CC is able to make a baloon for everyone and Sanji can Skywalk.
But wait... Naaaah who am I kidding. Dunno what the fuck it is
Nice find on the sparkles.
It's been so long… where the fuck did Sanji, Brook and Chopper go again?!
Dream fight with pekoms and tamagotchi

RE: Chapter 787: "4 minutes"
Unless you know their weakness or they randomly decide to not use their natural logia defence, yeah.
Yeah, I quite like that too.
It would suck if Sabo just abandoned his old techniques to only use MM attacks.
Using his new DF abilities to enhance his existing attacks is definitely the right way to go.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Yeah, so say there's no way to imbue long range attacks with haki...why try to hit a logia user with such an attack?
I think ya'll might be forgetting Zoro vs monet when he hit her with a color less haki attack that damaged her.
On the other hand I think logia users are not immune to surprise attacks unless well trained like akainu. Remember smoker being surprise attacked by Luffy. A lariat that turns into a flying attack would definitely surprise me.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
While agree… This time the reason is beyond stupid... Luffy has no problem with people as Gatz and Co saving his ass.
Zoro at least could hold DoFla off from chasing him...
But you know why it won't happen... Plot reasons
How would Zoro even know that Luffy needs help at the moment. If anything he saw doflamingo smashed into a mountain. I would call this more trusting in Luffy/the captain.
-
RE: Chapter 787: "4 minutes"
Burgess vs Sanji is set in stone… Burgess will be burned again in the future and both are hype tools
That and the insane leg strength mentioned beforehand, but he hasn't used any leg techniques yet although that 'galleon lariat' was impressive.
I think this chapter will be better animated, with some dramatic music. I also liked zoro's use of haki on the cover page and now again in chapter so this will probably be the regular for him now.
What do ya'll think of the way oda drew the swirls of his haki as he activated it, had a real sense of movement like blackbeards darkness.
-
RE: Chapter 786 : Gatz
Maybe Blackbeard sucks out the fruit's essence with his powers instead of letting it materialize somewhere else in the world? I assume Burgess was going to bring him Luffy's corpse. It would be stupid if anyone could do it.
I think that's a good point. Like we saw with smiley. When a devil fruit user dies the essence of the fruit remains in the immediate area. Blackbeard with his gravity suck everything in, he can even contain people within himself along with items. So he could theoretically absorb that essence into himself as well.
-
RE: Chapter 786 : Gatz
Agreed, after all, isn't haki suppose to be about willpower? More like an expression of will. I see it like using a muscle, you can will it to lift a weight for so long but then you need to rest to recuperate/refocus.
ITs just as odd as other weird things in OP like the King Punch needing exactly 1 hour to charge up.
That's a really good observation. More then likely the subtle foreshadowing by oda of haki having limits.
Probably similar to whitebeards crew being in awe as well when shanks was just letting his CoC loose like it was nothing when he boarded their ship.
-
RE: Chapter 786 : Gatz
@Nex:
Just curious, who all thinks that Burgess and Sabo will actually fight to a finish? We've already seen them fight before, before Sabo's powerup of course, and they were pretty much even. It stands to reason that Sabo should have the edge now, so, if that is the case, do we really think Burgess will stay around and get defeated? Personally, I think he's going to run. I said this during the tournament, and I'll say it again now: If Burgess is to be one of the final obstacles on the way to Raftel, he can't be beaten here. It will lessen the impact of when he is later.
And of course, Sabo can't lose, That'd be terrible writing.
I think similar to how burgess couldn't touch ace before, the entire Blackbeard crew lost to Magellan; went a few rounds with Sengoku and ran from Akainu. Oda isnt afraid to show them lose, but also he can show their growth also instead of there power being static or standstill.
I also don't think sabos fruit gives him any real advantage yet. He can still be hit by haki and he's far from mastery of his powers, still in the basic understanding stage.
-
RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
@DHL:
I would honestly think that would be a BS sort of thing since it would be like a Nakama power up, IMHO.
To me it is nothing more than a certain prophecy in which we know nothing of as of yet.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I guess in that way you are correct.
Doflamingo just didn't ever see a gear fourth, well no one has up until now really. But he did underestimate the kong gun. Doflamingo won't ever trying blocking one of those again.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
We have plenty of time to go, I mean it would probably border line 10-15 minutes from shutting, or maybe a bit longer because Zoro is going to try hold it off as much as possible. So Zoro could prolong the arc, or more so the fight which i don't mind personally.
Just re-read it and I agree. Luffy gets a surprising amount of surprise attacks in on his opponents.
-
RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
@DHL:
It is isn't it?
It does make sense if you look at the image.. well to me at least.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
For plot reasons he says he doesn't but in the end he has with Luffy
Hmmm. I think he hasn't under estimated luffy, more so what others could do around him. Viola, dwarves, sabo all extinuating circumstances that helped luffy.

RE: The world is triggered…
@James:
I hope we get the B rank wars animated. Although this might mean we get 52 episodes as the manga is still on-going in that regards.
Yeah, I had a good laugh at that part too. XDDD
Bet after making the episode they were like, dang we are missing 20 seconds oh well lets have those two keep screaming for a while to cover that up. XD
The new OP isn't bad but I rather had seen it as ED with Change the new world as OP.Indeed! That fight between Yuuma and Murakami was great! I really underrestimated Yuuma's abiltiy to improvise and adapt to new situations quickly. Although if they had continued to fight on land Murakami would have won for sure. Still an awesome plan of Yuuma to get him underwater with that grasshopper trap!
I think Nasu has a bigger chance to win than Osamu and Chika do. Kuruma is basically just a walking point at this point of the game, he has no vision how to win this match nor a plan that does not invovle "Murakami will get the kills we need to win". Osamu and Chika might have a plan how to deal with Nasu but after seeing Nasu's Viper + Meteor combo I am not so sure anymore of their victory/success of their plan. With a 2-1-1, the teams are really close now though, both Tamakoma 2 and Nasu got good chances to win this game.
I agree. Really innovative use of his weapon. Takes a lot of creativity from the author. Also makes the world feel more real.
What do you think about Osamu being able to mix his ammo?
I think if he does a joint shot with Chika like they did during the invasion they could defeat the opposing team leader.

RE: The One Piece Reread Discussion
I just gotten idea.
I love pictures of opened up volumes of One Piece- like opened on some favourite action scene or some kind of reveal or dialogue.
Can we all post here pictures of pages that we really liked while re-reading One Piece in volume format ? At least from time to time.
It is like sharing experience of re-reading in bit different way than only through discussion without picture.I'm not good at posting pictures but if someone could do it for me I think that's a good idea.
Leo franky tank nice thread idea. Made me go back to read.
I'd like to do a small bit of battle prowess flashback if possible to do so in a civil manner.
Like how would Don Kriegs weapons fare against arlong. Not so much power level, but I can honestly see him in a disguise ship firing his poison gas at arlong park.
The walk to arlong park for me was actually better in the anime to me. I was surprised how short it was in the manga.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! @The:
! > That's cool. I did see one that made me think Punk Hazard recently. Richie (lion from Buggies crew) was dreaming he was on a small boat (looked a lot like going merry), heading towards an island with a Dragon standing there and flames covering the land.Well finished the Baratie stuff. Besides Krieg being forgettable, I forgot how good the arc was. Gin was a cool character, who despite being known as a Demon (like Zoro) has a soft side. In some ways, he makes me think of Bellamy in Dressrosa, where Gin admits looking at Krieg as his hero was a mistake, then after seeing Luffy in action becomes a fan of his. I really would like Gin to reappear again, as he wanted to meet again in the Grand Line, but it never happened. Wonder if there is a ever so slight chance he is the seventh shikibukai.
Sanji's backstory was the most brutal one we had seen yet, but the more interesting thing was how he contrasted with the prior members. Most of the rest were trying to achieve their dream/goal. Sanji had given up on his dream because of Zeff, but he still wished to see the all blue at some point. He also couldn't understand why Luffy and Zoro would go so far to keep fighting for their dream, as he said they should just give up. Luffy and Sanji's determination, along with the cooks, reignited his desire, allowing him to ultimately move on.
Also, I wonder if Pearl was to foreshadow Diable Jambe. Pearl covered his whole body in fire for fighting, and with the parallels of Baratie and Galley-La, seems like a good time for Sanji to make his debut of copying someone.
For those who are reading this thread, even if you don't want to reread the series, or are farther in rereading the series, please post your thoughts on this stuff. It doesn't have to be in depth, just if there were certain aspects you liked or didn't like, and other thoughts. This thread will be boring with no responses. If there is a certain part you are waiting to talk about, let me know and I'll try to get to that part a little faster. Though that will be hard since now it's time for Arlong Park, which still to this day is damn good by One Piece standards, and is usually the arc that cemented readers to the series.
A lot to say here. This got me to start with baratie arc. It along with sanji is one of my favorites. So much
good. Gonna write some more later but I'll just start with the humor. The booger joke is gold and had me laughing. The fly in the soup, good level of detail. Really warm humor in the arc. The presence of the characters is like that of an actual diner. Luffy smashing dishes like an idiot. It all feels organic.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
How about in the beginning of the series that Devil Fruit powers were rare instead of being common like they are now. Looking back then you can see how it confirms how weak East Blue is in comparison to the Grandline and is in pale to the New World.
I agree. Especially compared to north blue where doflamingo grew up. There were some crazy fruit users.
Although east blue had alvida's fruit somewhere in it. Which could have a lot of possibility to it. One thing I order though is why smoker wasn't more mobile with his fruit. He could've ended the arlong pirates easily.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
On hindsight, the chapters with Laboon and Crocus feel really weird. Like, it's so out of place, even 700000000 chapters later.
Like, crocus lives on a boat inside laboon, and there's hallways and corridors and metal pipes running along Laboon's veins? Vivi's is totally different, and catching a whale for food seems like a completely unnecessary thing for Baroque works to do
Rereading that today/yesterday. It makes sense they'd need food if you consider how often the feed pirates. And also correlate mr 3's plan to get money from bounty heads as another incentive for promotion.
Laboons insides are a mystery but hey, that island inside him is crazy in itself.
Isn't it It interesting to think though, no matter how big s creature is, everything's a speck compared to the ocean or a landmass.

! @The:
! > Very true. It is different as in many questions one might have during an arc will be known. The discussion is very different as you can read some chapters and compare it to later stuff, seeing differences and similarities. So while many of us will never get to have the discussion like we have with the current stuff, still great stuff to discuss with a reread. Speaking of Enes Lobby/Water Seven. One thing I've been noticing with rereading is how the villain of the arc/island has a certain trait they share with the character that joins the straw hats. With Morgan and Zoro, it's their name/status. Morgan uses his fame to control people in fear, and abuses his power. Zoro is feared because of his strength, but he is a nice guy in the end and he dreams of becoming bigger than his name already is. With Nami and Buggy, you have the idea of greed, but Buggy is ruthless and will harm anybody, while Nami only goes after pirates and won't go as far to kill, even if she hates them. With Usopp and Kuro, you have lying. Kuro knows how to make people believe him using tricks, which ends up almost killing the village. Usopp is up front and makes obvious lies, which almost back fires. As we learn in the end, the villagers did like Usopps lies, as it became a sort of morning ritual.
So what does this have to do with Water Seven/Enes Lobby? Well, considering the fact that Usopp rejoined, we had a parallel with him and the villain again. We have Usopp the liar who has finally gone on his own adventures, but still lies about stuff. We then get a Kuro 2.0 in the form of Lucci. He worked as a carpenter for years, building up trust until the right moment. He is subtle and low key like Kuro, where once the betrayal happens it is a shock to everyone. His main mission is to take a person Usopp cares about and have her killed for circumstances that were beyond her control (Kaya and Robin parallel). Like with Kuro, Usopps job is to not take on the bad guy, but rescue the one he cares about. In the end, like Kuro, nobody finds out the truth about him. With all these parallels, it seems like foreshadowing that Usopp would join once everything was over.
One thing I noticed this time around was that we learned why Morgan had a metal jaw, and how he got his status. He wasn't a great person by any means, as his status to captain was by Kuro's plan. Kuro smashed Morgans lower Jaw, and through hypnotism, got him and a random person to believe about Kuro being captured. Adds more to the Zoro/Morgan aspect, as Zoro earned his fame truthfully, while Morgan got his fame from a crafted plan that killed the wrong person.
Besides the villain and new crewmember having similarities, each arc where the crew member comes in we learn about their "treasure", and get an idea of the islands "treasure". With Zoro, he treasures his swords, especially the one Kuina gave him. This is reinforced through the Meow Brothers, when one of them just tosses the swords. With Nami, it is actual gold, but she has standards when stealing. For Usopp, he values who he is. After everything is over, he wishes for the town to continue to see him as a liar, and not have them know about what went down. He also doesn't deny his pirate legacy, going so far to go violent when he is berated for it.
One last thing I will say for now is that this is the first arc where a character quirk is a foreshadowing tool for Oda. We first meet Kuro as Khaladore, who we notice pushes his glasses up with the palm of his hands. What seems like a quirk later comes to show to be developed as a habit from his fighting style. Using swords as claws, he needed a safe way to readjust his glasses with his swords still on. We later get some quirks that have a much bigger meaning for a character, especially in Dressrosa with Baby 5s wanting to help others, and Senor Pinks attire.
How do you think Zoro got so famous? I remember something touching upon it but I'm not sure if it was filler or canon.

RE: Regular Show
Both new episdoes of Regular Show was great.
! I'm curious where this storyline with Mordecai,Margaret, and CJ is going. I'm really like the character development of Rigby and Eileen have been getting the last few episodes.
! why that kiss…hopefully CJ can work it out with mordo...seems like he was thinking, 'what if' with Margaret moving back to town though.

RE: Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!
This might actually be the most over the top thing I've ever seen in this manga
! the force from him pointing made his head rotate so many times that it came off. He sneezed once and changed a landscape. Is this more hype or has the hype only just begun
! the meteor showers will actually be bambina's poop that falls back down after he throws it.

RE: The world is triggered…
@James:
hugs x20a
There, there aligator. It will be okay. Just see it as comedy and the whole silence thingie gets pretty hilarious on its own.
Maybe future episodes will be better when there is les talking and more fighting? We can only wait, hope and see.Chapter 67+68:
The OsamuxChika ship, pardon me, the team combo is AMAZING!
Like that one rabit did not even bother to dodge Osamu's weak asteroid and once Chika hold hands with Osamu it was like! [qimg]http://weknowgifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/nope-badger-gif.gif[/qimg]
XD
Okay, he did that more profession al, but his reaction was very close to it.^^And given how his team rabit ended up as dust when the Osaika/Chimu cannon PULVERIZED it, it was a smart move to jump back several feets.
Just look at the damage those two did with a NORMAL Asteroid attack!
In the next chapter we see Izumi doing a Gimlet attack which is basically asteroid+asteroid = armor-pircing bullets and he does far less damage than those two. Raw power can indeed overpower skills when it comes to Chika's monster trion. Which is actually her nickname, "the trion monster of Tamakoma", a little shy girl. XD
But the loses of their rabits forces the Aftokrator commander to come out and damn, HIS black trigger really turns the tables on Border! >.<
His Black trigger is called Alektor, egg crown, who seems to produce trion cubefing trion animals who just "eat" up your trion weapons and bodies and turns you into a cube once you are hit.
Midorikawa gets hit and is forced to bail out, Yoneya loses his weapon or at least quite some trion as the flying fishes ate his spear, Izumi gets immobilized as Hyrein's salamanders make a mess out of his legs. And then Osamu happened.
Hah.
Well, it is not like I can't understand him. Seriously, I probably might have done the same if I were him.Osamu got way too overconfident after tasting what real power is like and how it feels to blast two tough opponents even A-ranks have trouble with into bits and dust. He attacks Hyrein from the side and while that is a valid tactic he ignored Izumi's order to take Chika and run away. And it ended as expected. Hyrein fires his birds (now the color page with the birds in the background make a lot of sense) and hits Chika multiplie times, her body already starting to turn into a cube.
Damn, Osamu must so blame-hate himself when he gonna see Chika's cube before his feet. :c
Now Jin's foressen future makes sense as there is no chance in hell Osamu will ever bail-out to save his own life and leave Chika behind. Especially not after he made such a mistake, put to Chika to risk and got her cubefied. And we have seen Mira being able to produce Warp spikes back then against Yoneya. Imagine those spikes in Osamu's body and you get why Jin says Osamu gonna die in the worst possible future.
Still, it felt good to see Osamu wreck shit with so much trion at his disposal.^^
And that he got so Op due holding hands with Chika just made it adorable. XD
Guess Tamakoma will give Osamu/Chika a way to link their powers/trion via trigger link? Could be the case.
You know, that hand holding reminds me of a manga where the male and female protagonists had to hold hands to not die by a terrible disease and they were able to cure others and ofc were attacked a lot and had to fight while holding hands. I forgot its name but it was pretty cute and well-liked in the net even but got axed quickly. I think its title started with N?Anyway, I can see Osamu and Chika holding hands in future fights and the opponents are like "get a room you two" and then Osamu shouts "Asteroid" and the enemies are like "…..ohhhh shhhiiiiiiit...." when they see the giant bullets being formed. XDDD
Your a very devoted fan. I've enjoyed reading your comments. That manga was called Double Arts by Komi Naoshi, I liked it too.

RE: Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!
IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER EPISODE OF TORIKO MATH TIME!
Shima has revealed the circumference of the Toriko world! Let's see how my earlier estimations match up!
In a previous post I had calculated/estimated that the surface area of the Toriko world was 4 billion km^2. This gives a circumference of ~110,000 km. It turns out I was off by a factor of 2 because Shima has revealed this week that the planet has a circumference of 220,000 km! This means that Toriko world has 30 times the surface area of the Earth! Since the Gourmet World is 70% of the area (according to Shima) the human world alone in Toriko has 9 times the surface area of our planet! This also means that the Toriko world has half the mass of Jupiter and a surface gravity of ~54 m/s^2**. If you fell even for a single second you would be moving at 120 mph or about 200km/hr and you would weight 6 times as much**.Finally this means that the escape velocity for the Toriko world is 62 km/s, which seems quite attainable given what we've seen in the series so far.
Let's check Shima's usually accurate calculations:
He says the planet is 220,000km in circumference and that something moving at about 340 m/s (mach 1) will circumnavigate the planet in about a week. An object moving that fast will travel ~205,000km, so he's totally right! The actual physics of something skipping for that long and not slowing down is a little ridiculous but not totally impossible given a huge amount of angular momentum and kicking backwards parts of the mountain, so we'll say that's OK.The mountain the Monkey King throws seems to be a right circular cone with ~45 degree angle so I can estimate from the 1500m height that it has a volume of 8.8x10^8 m^3. Assuming it's density is about that of granite then it's mass is 2.4*10^12 kilograms which is pretty close to the mass of
[hide][qimg]http://bennisinc.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/school-of-fish.jpg[/qimg]
Every single fish in the world![/hide]Edit: stay tuned for more
How fast do you think bambina would move outside of the 100 G gravity? He must be super quick, reminds me of Goku.

RE: One Piece Chapter 766: Smile
Well its not exactly new to claim it.
We already had the people calling "character X didn't die!" for most of the series. Even for the characters introduced in flashbacks.
Sabo is just the only one of many FB Character death scenes that really did survive. The very first claim of a "FB-C death wasn't s/he is still alive!" was for Kuina (we still hear "she's Tashigi!" bullshit that started waaaaaay back when she was first introduced in East Blue. (Kuina wasn't clumsy or wore glasses)) I for one am thankful that's not true.
BUT you have a point about Sabo=
Fans were most vocal -and rabid- about him. So much that we at AP had the joke "Sabo is everyone".
Now the Joke will be "Roci is everyone".Falling down a flight of stairs could affect your sense of balance and eyesight in the future. :ninja:

RE: Chapter 765: Minion, the Island of Fate
This just reminded me of the conversation between Kizaru and Drake back on SA. Kizaru said something o the effect of Drake eleft the Marines and turned pirate because he was curious about the other side.
But if this is Drake, he would already know what tis like to be a pirate!
So making him a spy sort of makes sense.Maybe two immortals. After all we've not seen any human (giants don't count here, different life spans) that's reached 100 (we know that Whitebeard was 71(72?)) much less someone reaching over that.
But we have Kureha that's 141 and still has the body many women would die for (body not face )
Add to that she's the only one (Chopper doesn't count since he's a reindeer) going around the Sakura Kingdom without bundling up for the bitter winter cold. Heck even the ox DF used Dalton bundles up!…. and she's always asking if someone wants to know the secret of her youth! But its never been answered.
We've always thought its a gag of Kureha's ... but what if it was a foreshadowing :ninja:[hide] [qimg]http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130116005520/onepiece/images/0/01/Isshi-100_Manga_Infobox.png[/qimg][/hide]
You truly just inspired me!!
So to start off I immediately thought of shaky, and how it was mentioned that she looked young. So I looked up some info.
From the one piece wiki:
Twenty two years ago, her physical features looked exactly as it does now, but with certain subtle clothing differences
Shakky is very knowledgeable, and seems to constantly seek information - particularly on other pirates. She also reads the newspapers in what one could assume to be an obsessive manner, as she believes strongly that knowledge is power. She was the one who informed Luffy of all of the nine other pirates whose bounties exceed
Now think if you were a person that's been around for years, wouldn't you want to stay up to date with what's current.
Okay further proof.
She also seems intent on keeping her age a secret; Luffy asked her how old she was when he heard that she had quit being a pirate forty years ago, but she immediately changed the subject, though she mentioned that she had been chased by Luffy's grandfather
Keeps her age a secret for reasons.
My best piece. Looking at people dissect names, look at shakys name.
Her name (芍薬, shakuyaku?) means "peony", a type of flower.
Why is peony relevant!? Behold !
From teleflora.com
THE MEANING & SYMBOLISM OF
PEONY
With a recorded history that dates back thousands of years, it’s not surprising that even the mythology surrounding the origin of the peony has multiple versions. One legend has it that the peony is named after Paeon, a physician to the gods, who received the flower on Mount Olympus from the mother of Apollo. And another tells the story of that same physician who was “saved” from the fate of dying as other mortals by being turned into the flower we know today as the peony. The traditional floral symbol of China, the state flower of Indiana, and the 12th wedding anniversary flower, peonies are known as the flower of riches and honor. With their lush, full, rounded bloom, peonies embody romance and prosperity and are regarded as an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage.
TL:DR shaky=peony=story of mythical physician who grants imortality

RE: Chapter 763: Human Declaration
Anyone else think the tenryubito set up doffy's dad by sending him to that island? Seems like he's getting unfair blame because of what happened but they sent him to a NON-member Nation!!
-
RE: Chapter 761: The Ope Ope no Mi
Yeah it would be awesome but I doubt it to happen… I still think the Revos being on Zoro's island will have some role later on... No don't mean Kuina is alive or such shit.
Are you seriously trying to say that you don't think Kuina falling down "stairs" the same night a revolutionary ship came to her town, and a secret spy of the world government was on board, who would secretly train her as a double agent, only to regain her memories once she had her personality swapped back through the power of the ope-ope fruit isn't a possibility!! open the box and think outside it.
-
RE: Chapter 759: Secret Plan
Oh hell yeah, that chapter was badass with all the team work stuff going on in it! I especially loved the ending where Doflamingo gets owned with a Red hawk and Law sitting in his chair like a boss before cutting up Trebol's ass. Also, I feel really bad for Bellamy since he truly did look up to Dofla as an idol and being shat on by your own idol is, without a doubt, one major heartbreaker that no one ever wants to experience as it's one of the worst feelings in the world.
Anyway, fantastic chapter all around! :D
Do you think Luffy could be seeing a parallel with himself; thinking about how his relationship with shanks is similar. He could be wondering what if his childhood idol treated him that way. It's good to see Luffy get serious though.
-
RE: Chapter 758: Ignore it and move on
Usopp deserved this chapter, it was anticipated for long.
I still believe that Oda in chap 732 wanted to hint us with Usopp learning observation, i mean hereI remember guys at that time having fun at the idea of Usopp gaining haki…
Now that a lot of things are starting to fall in their places it's starting to be possible to express some judgements, imho a lot of the criticism of the previous weeks were too premature.
Maybe I'm the only one that's happy about all the sugar faintings and the manly fight between Franky and Senor but i really found those two situations handled decently well and they made me laugh hard. If somebody can't understand and take a joke I just feel bad for him. It's not that I liked everything, those said jokes too could've been handled in a funnier way, and still Diamante doesn't impress me, and I also have fear we have to wait another month of two just for the final fight to begin, but so far in the end I'm more pleased than not by this arc.
I wonder what happened to Bellamy and what he will do before the end.
Happy to be back here, even tho summer is ending :(
Friday chapter it's not bad, the lack of fan art spoiler yes.Do you think the initial awakening of Usopp's CoO could have been the cause of him being so frightened with sugar? Picture him seeing in his mind the defeat of all the dwarves, then hearing their voices lost. Then seeing his own defeat similar to how luffy saw his attack turning out against Mihawk during the war.

RE: Chapter 756: The 4th level
Every chapter serves its own purpose. Some may be dull, but give exposition or serve as transitions into other chapters. I've always found it kind of pointless to rate chapters individually.
It's really hard to objectively say any single chapter lacks quality. Maybe if you rip a chapter out of an arc and simply analyze it for what it is, but then you lack context. If you rate a chapter only based on what came before (because you can't predict how the story will go and we don't have the whole of the arc yet) then your understanding and context is viewed by only what you know/what information we have available.
But yeah I find that every chapter has a point, and a purpose, when it's viewed as one link in the chain that's the story.
That's a good point. I think someone would be hard-pressed to find a chapter that doesn't add something to the overall story.

RE: Naruto and Bleach V - The Not-So-Final Frontier
^^You could explain it with fiction science but that would just mean anyone who has ever had sex with an Uchiha can possibly awaken the Sharingan because of "gene sharing".
That would result in less in-breeding. Although it would make the love cancer a communicable disease. Leading to Uchiha. genocide as a legitimate option.

RE: Naruto and Bleach IV- Sexy time
It's funny that you think that I think eyes are hard to replace.
You need EMS + Hashirama DNA to get Rinnegan. That means it was either his eye or he took someone else's EMS, or he took someone else's normal Sharingan and evolved it into EMS. Considering the regenerative ability we witnessed, which of these 3 is the most obvious answer?
Sorry mate I was just having some fun. We won't get answers that make sense from this manga ever again.
