Thanks Heatxz. Thanks Pass The Rootbeer. Its good to know I'm not completely forgotten.
Happy Birthday Buuhan1. You share the same birthday as my dad

I'm liberal all the way. I have no problem voting for a moderate, centrist, or even conservative Democrat but definitely not a Republican!!!!
Wow, there are 117 people named Raymond –---. I thought I was an original aside from my dad. Makes me want to call them up for a reunion.
Another interesting stat. My first name is 62nd most popular name and only 99.8% are male. Oh really!!!
I don't really have a criteria for worst cartoon. If it makes me want to turn the TV in disgust, then its on the list.
I remember a show called Turbo Teen, that featured a teen who turns into a car whenever he gets hot and was pursued by a mysterious villain, know as Dark Rider.
There was a show that starred such characters like Bulletproof, Nightshade, and Ms. Demenor that always bugged me. The main character kept saying the catchprase "Its Crime Fighting Time"
Ar-are you talking about Dragonball AF?! You're using something like that in your argument?!
It called an example
We'll see. Dont hold your breath though.
First time you ADMIT to being wrong. I think this is a step in the right direction. :)
Awww, little aniki, I wish you would admit the many times I was right. ;)
Yeah there have been wild rumors on forums before. Famous one is the another sequel to Dragonball so I'll just be skeptical as always. If you read my earlier post. I didnt state them as facts just hypotheticals. Again ooooooh, first time being wrong after two years. oooooh :D
Actually I never argued with Quixnos before.
then don't feel bad when you end up making an idiot of yourself like you did here:
I dont feel bad about anything I say. I'm proud that I voice my own opinion without being influenced by others or peer pressure. I've been right WAY more times than I've been wrong in this thread, the ones going to the very first thread. So oooooooh, after two years, I'm finally wrong about something. The streak is over.
@Throes:
Playing the ignorance card then, eh?
Its a card I rarely played since my two years being at Arlong Park. Its been played against me many time before. First time for everything
It was first reported here by Yashouzoid, you would have known that if you had read the topic.
I just know they stopped dubbing. I go by official facts. Not postings on the forums. I looked it up myself and the only thing was the sales letter and ANN. I rescinded my statement, didn't I
Happy Birthday PirateNeko. I hope you get everything you want for your birthday and much more. Though the Ipod shuffle is a nice start
@Brad:
Well obviously Columbia/Sony isn't gonna be using Pixar. And it's impossible to get a live action movie made because of Bill Murray. If they made a GB movie without him, it's already an instant failure.
I didnt mean Pixar itself, I meant Pixar level of quality(those are the only good CGI movies). Movies like Shrek and Happy Feet are still expensive to make. I guess its better than nothing, though they could do a remake with a whole new cast. Its been several years now
If 4kids had ANY plans at all to continue the One Piece dub, they would keep it on their site and not had removed it from the "properties" listing in their 4kidsentertainment.com site.
Please try reading the topic before making any replies. I don't want to play this game where we repeat and site info to you that you just ignore.
No I Won’t. There are over fifty unread pages and I’m not reading them all. Just inform the people who don’t know. That’s what the forms are for.
Nope, it's definitely over. 4kids officially stopped dubbing literally one episode into Jaya, which was the first thing that said to me that they were stripped of their license, and recently, more evidence to support my claim has arose, including 4kids removing the OP links from their site and property list, even though they held the license until 2009.
Oh I see. I was going by the letter some guy received when he wrote to the sales department and it was used to report it on ANN. After looking it up on the Internet, it was the only thing I found on the subject. I rescind my early statement
Well first of all, none of those companies you listed actually "skipped" episodes. For DBZ and DC, it was all, and IS all the decision of the broadcasting network to pick which episodes to air and not. Furthermore, all of the episodes are available on DVD. Prince of Tennis also falls under the same scenario, Toonami is skipping episodes, not VIZ. And from what I understand, PoT and MAR aren't gonna be on Toonami for much longer, but this was planned. As for Pioneer, I'm pretty sure that only the second Lupin III TV series was licensed, ever. Of that series, only one episode wasn't aired, but given the title and the descrpition of the episodes in the preview for the episode, I can imagine why ("To Be, or Nazi Be").
They skipped the first few eps of DBZ, they written out a character from a previous show (Launch) which had no reason to do that. They are only releasing uncut episodes after it’s a huge success not before. They skipped the first 18 or so of DBGT when it was aired, I don’t think CN had anything to do with that. Then they mixed episodes of Case Closed. I read that they skipped the first season of Lupin III, I don’t think CN had anything to do with that either. PoT, I‘ll give you that one. I’m just saying it seems to be a common practice. Long time ago doesn’t mean anything. The point is that companies when they deem it, will do whatever they feel like.
Welcome aboard Raul. Just remember, this site is clothing optional.
@Pass:
OP Man, where are your pics?!
I have none recently. I dont have a camera and its kind of weird asking someone else to take pictures of me just hanging out in my room, but I hope post some pictures someday soon
What is it with American's desire to make everything smaller than a fingernail?
Its all about convience. The smaller it is, the less of a burden it is on the user. When home video cameras first came out. You had carry at least twenty pounds worth of equipment (camera, batterypack, etc)
Tonight episode was okay. Nothing spectacular. They changed a few lines but nothing to have a heart attack over.
Random thoughts: Some things to consider. Sure they stopped dubbing OP but that doesn't neccesarily mean its cancelled. After attempting a non-stop season on Fox, they could merely be taking a break for a while. That's when you see repeats. Another reason for them to stop dubbing could be the cost of producing the show, mostly from paying Toei rights fees, has gotten too expensive to justify it airing on CN. Of course, with it running on CN and maybe producing good enough ratings, 4Kids could renogiate the current contract for a lower cost and production can begin again. So I guess we'll have to wait and see. Unfortunately it wont be until the current arc ends which could be six months from now.
I was watching Prince of Tennis Episode 18 on CN and unless I totally lost track of time, they skipped ahead more than 10 episodes. Which means the list of companies besides 4Kids that have skipped episodes have grown to three.
So those who want OP to go to another company beware, the grass is not greener on the other side.
Also Irresistablement kept a list of all the members who predicted how many episode of the Alabasta Arc(after Little Garden) will air. Numbers ranged from 18 to 33. If things continue at this pace, everyone would have predicted wrong.
@Afro:
Remeber RIsing Sun? The program CN use to run Sat mourinings
Ah yes, I remember that programming block. It was a time when CN was becoming a Anime network. Now its regressing.
@pirateneko:
Rootbeer… that is an iPod Shuffle ^_^
And I WISH I had marimo hair ;_;
Damn, can that product get any smaller? Would look back at that iPod and say "Man, I have forgotten how big those things use to be!"
Nice picture of your hand, btw lol
Eh, I dont know. I prefer live movies to be made live. It will depend on the production value of the movie@Brad:
There are some perks of it being in CGI:
- They don't have to worry about budget constraints.
Actually to do a Pixar quality movie, it cost around 100 million dollars or more. Add in the cuts of the various actor would want from the profits of the movie, it could be more expensive.
lol, I wouldn't be surprised if this was just someone goofing around. XD
I hope so. Then again exaggerations, half truths, or just plain ignorance could be the root of this too.
How would he know about the "original"?
Well someone has to do the research and count all the big breasts and drunken men, to make this assessment XD
@RomanGod:
I believe Luffy said Zolo "butcherd them" or something like that.
Yes he did. Except for two people, all the characters that died in the original, died in the dub
Damn It!!!! They are going to air "24" against "Heroes" Stuff like this can cause one of these series to get cancelled. I guess I'll have to choose "24" and hope "Heroes" will repeat again on Sci-Fi network.
@Greg:
See here's the thing. The series would be great, if they just admitted Jack was a superhero and he wore a cape.
Or you can say he is the American version of James Bond. It is weird to go from tortured prisoner just back from China, to become CTU agent in charge of a strike team in just four hours.
Yeah, I knew that part. Oh well they tried.
I like Drawn Together in the first season and then is just got unwatchable real fast in season two.
I thought of a couple.
James Bond Jr. The exploits of James Bond's nephew as he attends spy school; complete with a huge supporting class that included such original characters such as the nerdy smart guy (Hi-Q), dumb jock, and snotty rival. Plus original villians from the movies like Odd Job dressed up in Hip-Hop sweat suit.
Roger Ramjet: Jay Ward, the creator of Rocky and Bullwinkle, created this show with the same type of writing but the animation was attrocious.
Popeye and Son: Just like Pink Panther and Son, it pretty much have the son featured in about 99% of the episodes while Popeye is reduced to a cameo role…in his own show
When I'm not using my George Foreman grill, I use the microwave for every concievable way possible. The only time I touch the oven is to bake frozen pizza(though I have ate my fair share of microwave pizzas) and make French fries.
All right I haven't been on this thread since they went into repeats so any info on the dub is new to me and I'm not reading the 50 pages I missed.
Interesting that OP is coming back in February, replacing Zatch Bell. I guess they are out of new Zatch ep for now. CN scheduling practices always baffled me.
@Throes:
I think the reason they haven't cut any episodes besides for filler yet, is because they kind of stopped dubbing right into Jaya.
Actually it could be because skipping episodes cost them money. Since they only have broadcast rights to the show, they are making their money on a per episode basis as well as royalties on reruns.
So far so good. Its a nice start. The two hours did fly by very fast. I wish they would air two hours of "24" each Sunday because waiting 20 weeks for everything to unfold is torture itself.
You mean the "Peanuts"? Yeah, my favorite has to be Freakazoid and Animaniacs.
No "Peanuts" is the name of the comic strip. A title creator Charles Schulz hated. None of the cartoons bore the "Peanuts" name. The titles was always named something like "It's Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown"
@Mr.:
Okay, WTH are you thinking, these are some of the best American cartoons from the 80's!!! You cannot tell me that Mobile Armored Strike Kommand was crap… vehicles that change into battle machines & awesome cutscenes when the helmets are attached... that show was an underrated classic... Ninja Turles, are you serious? I don't even have to say anything about this show... Captain N had Simon Belmont & Megaman, with THE FREAKIN' EGGPLANT WIZARD!!! Also, Silverhawks was created by the studio that made Thundercats!!! C'mon, seriously, you didn't even back up your opinion as to why you think these are bad... I really want to hear your thoughts...
I think you just made my points for me. TMNT started off okay and then it got stupider and stupider with each passing episode. Silverhawks looked like the used the same scenes over and over again. Captain N went from blatantly commercial to shamelessly commercial when they introduce Gameboy…as a character.
@CosmicDebris:
Hehe, I loved TMNT when I was a kid, but rewatching those episodes now…YUCK. But they're definately not in the "worst" category, there's so much worse out there. If you want to see some really bad cartoons, watch Boomerang when they show those 70's superhero type of cartoons.
Yes, after Space Ghost and Birdman, things go horribly wrong. I remember Frankenstein Jr. Guh!!!!
@Ubiq:
Cattanooga Cats actually, which is occasionally on Boomerang. And yes, the rock songs were indeed cheesy in a way that could only be made by thirty and forty year old men attempting to think like teens.
Thanks I couldn’t think of the title, it’s been a long time. Back in those days, every show had rock song montages
@Ubiq:
Roman Holidays I think. The only clip I see on Youtube is the Portugese opening.
Anyway, wasn't it more like a blend of Wait Til Your Father Gets Home-style sitcom plots and The Flintstones-style anachronistic humor than simply a Flintstones ripoff?
Actually I change my mind on Roman Holidays. I think I was more miffed at Hanna-Barbera for making the same cartoon with different themes. They have made A LOT of them
I dont know about best ever but these classic shows, I always loved watching.
If you thought the 80's Hanna-Barbara stuff was bad, you should see the 70's stuff. I didn't know they existed until Cartoon Network first started and they showed their entire cartoon library. The cost cutting, the short cut animation such as the ole "scrolling background" technique. And they kept making rip-offs of their own successful shows with the same exact characters and themes(Scooby Doo = Funky Phantom, Clue Club, Chan Clan, etc) for example. Just Horrible.
Here is a short list off the top of my head.
Some obscure Hanna-Barbera 70s cartoons
Country Cats: another one of those Hanna-Barbara cartoon shows that had featured three different cartoons, that were horribly drawn and complete with the Country Cats singing cheesy fake rock songs.
The Romans(cant remember the name): Basically a Flintstone rip-off set during the Roman empire (note: they even did one with a football theme)
Skate Birds: Roller skating live action birds, and had a cartoon called THe Robotic Three Stooges
My parents were divorced when I was three. My mom moved to California and every summer I would visit my dad in Texas. I was too young to feel the impact of the divorce. The good news is I had a good stepfather and both him and biological father got along great.
This is the first time I ever got to post in a religion thread because the thread usually get closed down before the night is out.
I believe in God but I don't subscribe to any formal religion. I believe if followed faithfully all religions are correct. As a very good sign I once read revealed "God is too big to fit in just one religion"
Yet another shocking and unexpected death to add to this waning year. Oh well, he was quite ill for awhile so its not too shocking
Well, I'll be very interested in seeing how the write their future movies. They no longer have any more books to work from which means they are going to have to write it themselves which could be disastrous
I can't believe there are Sanford and Son fans at this forum. That's a hilarious comedy. My mom knew Redd Foxx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redd_Foxx
back when she was working at a club in Houston. He could always make compliment about her legs. I met LaWanda Page (Aunt Esther) at her home when I was a kid. My mom knew her too.
Looked at the marathon again and it was great again. I was looking for some hidden clues but I already forgotten about them if I had them.
Issac seems like a likely choice but he was killed in his studio by Sylar before the explosion, so if time is going the way it is, then Issac's death is improbable.
It could be Hiro's friend unless Heroes are only people with powers
Just for reference, there is a difference between calling somebody a nigger and a nigga. Just to clear that up.
Yeah, one is a racial slur used by whites and the latter is a racial slur used in the hip hop world
A white man calling me nigga is not as nearly offensive as white man calling me nigger.
You must didn't read the rule book. NO white man can EVER call a black man a nigga or nigger…PERIOD!!!!
Though I don't approve of it. Its generally understood that racial slurs can only be thrown at each other in a group. i.e. only a black man can another a nigga, Italians can call another a Wop, etc.
Well that's why I asked if he ate their brains. I know his power is to "fix" things but I'm trying to figure out by what method he absorbs his victims' powers. He cuts out their brains, then removes the genes and then some how absorbs it without cutting himself open. I guess we'll see next week.
Great episode but the scariest part of the episode was the promo for next week "The last episode until the new year" Gasp!!!!
Sylar didn't have powers, yet he acquired the telekinesis from Gary, his first kill. Did he take out his brain and eat it? Is that how he acquire other people's powers?
That's crazy. Though I found him freely throwing the word Nigger around were vile, I was more offended by the lynching joke and everybody laughing at it and I'm not entirely sure the audience weren't laughing at the slurs either. The manager was lucky a riot didn't happen. And his apology was worse.
We all have dark thoughts. Its just a matter of rationally controlling those thoughts
I'm lukewarm about tonight's episode. It was promoted as a big event and turning point for the story but turned out to be rather anti-climatic. Though I like the fact that they avoid story cliches such as Claire's best friend turning out to be gay, instead of becoming her boyfriend.
I was just pointing out the spelling of Gollum to OP Man.
Yeah, pointing out my bad grammar and spelling is one of her hobbies. XP
Of course they are cashing on LOTR success, but then again success is an indicator that the public might be interested in more stories. Let them do it. If it is great then it is great. If it sucks then it sucks. Its not the end of the world
@Ein:
If you like humor, watch the original "Casino Royale"
No, dont do that. That movie was awful.
Casino Royale is not a remake. The other movie was done by another studio who had the rights to book before the current series began. The people who have done all the other Bond movies finally got rights to make a movie adaptation.
One disappointing thing about the movie was they didn't show fully how spectacular Casino Royale, I assuming, suppose to be.
All right just got back from watching the movie. They basically hit the reset button on the series; bringing the character back to basics as he starts his career as a "00". Few gadgetry, no mega-plot for world domination, etc, but it has lots of action, drama and some humor. It's the most plausible Bond Movie ever. Daniel Craig plays a good Bond. Sadly, no "Q" or Miss Moneypenny; though I hope they bring her back in the next movie scheduled to start shooting next spring. Overall I think its a very good start since the film is basically a "pilot" movie
Yeah, I forgot about the Brooke Shields angle. She also ratted out Christian's affair to Larry Hagman's character and Brooke is going to rat out that black woman's past to Sean.
Its great living in a capitalist society. I remember seeing LOTR and suddenly realized, "Hey, the skipped over a whole storyline (Hobbits)"@CosmicDebris:
I can't disagree with that, but I just don't really know if he really fits the part.
Ah, Flight of Dragons, there's something I haven't seen i a long time. I totally grew up with all those Rankin-Bass fantasy cartoons.
The cartoons were my only experience with LOTR. It aired on primetime on ABC. I remember the character design at the time were creepy. Especially Golem(sp?) with hair hanging down between his legs. Bleargh!!!
Yay! Hahaha. That song rocks. XD
That's the only song I remember from that series. Goes to prove how powerful it is. I still know the main lyrics :blink:
FX has some of the best series on Television.
Nip/Tuck season's 1 and 2 were great but season 3 was just plain awful. Season 4 is doing okay but they are speeding by all of their subplots. For example the midget storyline was over before it was started. There is a subplot with the possibility of Christian being in love with Sean that the writers seem to have forgotten about.
I like Mr. Prince's and Cosmic's idea. But be careful if you use Mr. Prince's advice. It can get you into a real fight.
Unfortunately, once you get branded, it's hard to shake that image off. All I can say is try and weather the storm and don't let your non-friends see that it bothers you.
Welcome back. Now let's set up the karoake machine and let's get to singing.
I have so missed posting on Arlong Park, but sadly college got to be too much of a hassle and I had to choose either living the posting life on Arlong Park or studying all the time. So I chose the thing that I had taken almost $20,000 out on.
I can relate. I've been exhausted from working and night school, I barely have time to get on the computer.
All big event comics are gimmicks to sell comics. The important thing is if the story is good. I like Civil War so far. Its shocking to see the heroes is acting live the villians. The revelation of the Thor clone just blew me away. I just wonder if this story is getting too big and what will happen to the universe after the Civil War is over.
Yeah, I'm happy the measure passed too. The bill was losing most of the night, just like McCaskill and then it made an incredible comeback. Now if only we can get it nationally funded.
As a proud Democrat, I'm happy as hell that they won both houses. There is always a need for checks and balances.
As for Third Parties, the solution is to do what other countries do; adopt a run-off ballot system.(I think that is the name of it.) You make two picks; a main one and a secondary one. If your main candidate is not close to winning, your vote will automatically goes to the second choice. This way, there won't be a wasted vote.
Also if you change the current debate rules, and allow all candidates to debate instead of just the top two candidates, then a third party candidate can get more exposure.
