Outstanding chapter and a proper conclusion for a tough opponent who lived only for war and was defeated by the desire of freedom. When Luffy hit the punch, dissipating the flaming dragon and delivering the shock directly to the dragon's jaw, it felt liberating. The almighty super soldier who sees humanity as a pure assemble of flesh and brutality finally remembered that the so called "Joy Boy" was a pursuer of freedom, the true equalizer. Intriguing contrast and parallelism between the radical philosophy of Kaido (anarchy and war as the true way to be human) and the candid desire of Luffy to create a world without hunger, where all his friends can eat to total satisfaction (making another recall to the common theme of Wano and Onigashima: a lot of food only for a little piece of evil people and not accessible to everyone else, despite the hard work).
The lanterns delivering the so desired messages to the ancients, connected with the ability of Momonosuke to finally be able to create a proper flame cloud in the most needed moment. The gentle hug of Denjiro that is able to break the forced facade of Hiyori, the water washing away both the samurai and the pirates, saving all of them from certain death. Onigashima landing safely and both the heroes of this long story (Momonosuke and Luffy) collapsing after their final struggle. Poetry in motion, anticipated by the former chapter title and the final editor's note: Twenty Years. It's been a long time for the people of Wano but they can finally leave in peace because the "scary dragon" is down and "Joy Boy" is arrived. It wasn't a matter of actually opening the borders, rather than perpetrating the idea at any cost. Inherited will, the theme of the whole One Piece. It wasn't an open or a closed border that made the appearance of the liberator possible, it was the heart of people who never surrendered, not even after losing their leader, not even having to spend decades waiting for that very night.
Fusha Village's Mayor once said: "It was his dream or his destiny?". Luffy's effort came to fruition with a huge punch that made the impossible: defeat the inevitable beast. not even Oden was able to do it, because he wasn't Joy Boy. Not even Roger reached Laugh Tale at the right moment, because he wasn't Joy Boy. The world of brutality wasn't the right one to live for, because Kaido wasn't Joy Boy either. Then the final realization, like an epiphany for the little kid that only lived for war: if I can't be Joy Boy I'll be the incarnation of what he has to take down in order to take his place into the world. Maybe even Kaido was waiting for him, without even knowing. Basically searching for the warrior of liberation like it was a life purpose.

RE: Chapter 924 : Ha*
That can be easilly brushed off. Might even be a red herring to make us believe it couldn't possibly be Vegapunk. There didn't seem to be much reason to even mention Vegapunk at that time, really.
And by brushing off, I meant there are ways in which Vegapunk might have made it seem like he's at his facility, while he was in fact somewhere else. Could have made a robot duplicate, or a clone, or both. He can make convincing robot versions of other people. Why not himself.
And as for silhouettes being different, it might just be Vegapunk with a different goddamn shirt on.
He maybe went there in his own mecha to confront Kaido, feeling guilt over his research being used like that, got promptly trashed by Kaido and thrown in a cell. It's a joke example, but you get the gist.
One possible way out for Luffy and Kid is Vegapunk agreeing to help Kaido, only to help Luffy and Kid escape.
True, putting it this way that guy can be anyone, especially since one the samurai silhouettes mentioned by Kinemon and Oden silhouette as well wear a straw hat. This guy might be one of them without the hat. I’m telling it from a plot and foreshadowing perception. Nothing hints toward Vegapunk if not for a similiarity in silhouettes (and silhouettes can be really decieving, especially in One Piece. If you think about the original Kaidou silhouette you can get my point). I don’t see the involvement of Vegapunk in this prison scenario, especially I don’t expect Vegapunk to have that personality. As I said in One Piece you can elaborate every kind of theories but Oda always builds a road to follow that’s costellated with foreshadows. In my opinion Vegapunk is dealing with the gigantified children at the moment (brought to him by Smoker, Fujitora is a friend of him, shares the same way of thinking and the two probably meet a lot. Also Fujitora mentioned Vegapunk regarding the Sichibukai situation, a theme that is the main core of Issho himself. I don’t see a red herring but the right character construction there).
That said, we have to wait for the reveal, hopefully in two weeks. If Oda wants to pull a huge twist here i keep telling that fishbone guy = Oden is the more fitting and more intriguing plot twist, story wise for this arc. But I suppose it’s more one of the two missing samurai.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I like your theory even though 20 years is a long time. I decided to check momonosuke eyes and compare them to this mystery prisoner because if he is oden then only his son can have his eyes and they look like a match, both look like an upside down D, his pupils are more like Rogers.
Yeah, the eyes are the ones that got me the idea, actually. I didn’t mentioned them because, for example, even Sabo and Luffy share the same eyes but they are not blood related. Regarding the 20 years thing: in One Piece we have giants that live more than 300 years, an Admiral that didn’t eat for 2 straight years, a huge woman that can have 90 children and another one that was pregnant for 20 months (and the list can go on and on). A strong guy that can resist in a cell eating a not exactly healthy fish for 20 years doesn’t seem such a stretch, especially if that man is revealed to be one of the strongest samurai of Wano and a crucial member of Roger’s crew. Not to mention this guy is able to kill a man spitting a fish bone right into his neck from a distance, through a cage and with just his mouth .

RE: Chapter 924 : Ha*
We know next to nothing about Vegapunk. So yeah, who am I to say he can't be a survivor, capable of hating and spitting fishbones. Oda doesn't make such coincidences randomly.
That’s true but we also know, from the Levely arc, that Vegapunk was just visited by Fujitora and I doubt that Kaidou, in just few days, would be able to kidnap him, bust him into a cell, make the guards forget about him and not to rise a war against the marines and world government. Vegapunk is probably their best resource. In One Piece you may never say never but I don’t expect Vegapunk to have the personality the Fishbone guy has. My opinion, of course.
Also, if you look at the silhouettes, they share similarities but they are not the same. If you think about it even Holdem’s stomach silhouette had similarities with Richi of the Buggy’s crew and Absalom but it’s because they share lion features. Maybe fishbone guy and Vegapunk have in common to be almost bald and have a long forehead (very common feature in Japanese folklore and already seen in One Piece either, like with vice Admiral Strawberry and Don Chinjao).

RE: Chapter 924 : Ha*
But why would Oda show Vegapunk's silhouette if the prisoner is any of the guys whose clearly different silhouettes he's shown couple of chapters before.
Maybe they share similar features or we just misunderstood the silhouettes. The fact is: do you really expect Vegapunk to be such stubborn and stoic to keep eating poisoned fishes in order to survive or to be able to kill a man only with the mouth and a fishbone? I can’t deny the silhouettes are pretty similar but his behaviour doesn’t fit a character devoted to science, probably really old, to be portrayed as a violent and dangerous prisoner who almost kills someone and burps afterward glaring like Roger at the scene. Don’t you think?

RE: Chapter 924 : Ha*
I wanna make a very very crazy prediction: i know that the mysterious guy is probably Denjirou or Kawamatsu, all odds are toward that but i find pretty strange they are trying to kill this man and not to break his spirit making him a subordinate (Kaidou tried it with Ashura Douji/Shutenmaru at the first occasion he met him in person and Jack himself stated that the ‘strong thief’ known as Shutenmaru is still alive because Kaidou wanted him in his crew). Also the guards heard ‘rumors’ about the person or creature inside the cell, like he was there for so long that the new guards don’t even know who he is. The person inside it seems to be very strong and dangerous (resisted for a lot of time eating poisoned fishes only and is able to kill a man simply tossing the fishbone at his neck, probably just using his mouth). Here comes the crazy stuff: what if this man actually is Oden? Would be a huge plot twist. Afterall we never saw him die, we only heard it from Kinemon, who disappeared few minutes/hours after witnessing the event, only to reappear 20 years in the future. Oden made both Roger and Whitebeard fall for him back in the days, why not a young invading Kaidou (who seems to have a thing for recruting strong people)? Maybe he tried everything to break his spirit but was unable to do it (Kaidou is well aware that people with Conqueror’s Haki are strong willed and don’t give up easily. In this chapter we also understand that Oden was the third Roger’s crewmember with conqueror’s haki) so now is trying to kill him as a last resort. Oden as the ‘fishbone’ guy would be a very wild yet really powerful plot twist at this point of the story.
