I did too thought about if Kaido going drunk was a way of him tapping into his Awakened powers. But, no. Oda makes it clear when there's Awakening happening. And since he didn't explicitly stated that Kaido was using his Awakening, I'm pretty sure Kaido didn't Awaken.

Didn't Oda say Akainu was so strong if he were the protagonist One Piece would end in under a year?
Which is something Kaido and Mom failed to do through out their lives.

I think people are counting him off way too easily.

Regardless of how this thing shakes out next, week, it still suffers this week from the fact that whatever this powerup is isn't unlocked through some burst of emotion or new transcendent insight or something, Its just booted up after Luffy has been fully KO'd (…a short while after the exact same thing already happened). It doesn't feel like something Luffy has actively earned when it happens like that, it really is just shonen manga trope 101 - but that doesn't mean people should like it. Getting an emotional and rousing last surge of strength where you exhaust all your reserves is one thing, unlocking a whole new tier of power while left for dead in a ditch is something else.

And of course this being the fourth time Luffy has bounced back from being totally spent and/or unconscious in the same fight doesn't help.

this is basically where my troubles start at.

I've been thinking about previous owners leaving a signature at the DF and the Awakening of the DFs bringing some part of them to the current user.
Awakening may have literally brought some part of Nika to the current timeline, which may be signaling Zunisha now.
But this part doesn't seem to be occurring on other Awakening users. What is different about Luffy, say, from Law or Kidd?
One, he has an active CoC. -Big Mom never displayed such a thing
Two, the ability to hear the voice of all things. -Can be
Three, destiny stuff. - Maybe
Four is the fact that he died. - Kaido said Death completes a man

In each case, this is 'heavens' coming down to him and not Luffy doing anything worthwhile to achieve it. Maybe the Gomu Gomu users are hard to kill and can jumpstart the body? IDK
But the most outcomes come straight back to Nika/Joy Boy actually doing it himself, through mechanics unknown to us.

I just don't see a scenario where I'm genuinely happy.
This isn't malding. I still trust Oda and am genuinely full of curiosity about upcoming chapters. Besides this puzzle…
One thing I'm sure, Luffy isn't going anywhere. These events aren't gonna stop our journey with Luffy now. They won't have any effect on any kind of effect on his character, experience, and reactions. If Luffy knew what Nika/Joy Boy knows he'd stop being a pirate.

Luffy actually dying makes me think of the scenario where Zoro actually died too. We are talking about two characters who have the same point of view on life at most points but mirror each other in their choices of doing things. It's safe to say Zoro really saw the grim reaper/death itself and has a story to tell.

Miura leaving so unexpectedly soon feels so cruel, it pains me so much that i dont have a chance to show how much i appreciate him and it hurts even more knowing that he probably didnt have time to prepare for his own journey's end (in general not just berserk). I just wish Luffy atleast demonstrated G2 while blocking Kaido. Kaido is a zoan and in hybrid mode. I'm past CoO but speed side of things is a lil bit silly.

I've always liked Riboku and this made me like him even more. The focus on him feels good after the Houken mess.

Regarding Inu and Neko potentially telling WB about what happened, it's worth remembering that the dog and cat hated each other's guts to the point they hadn't seen each other in years until they reunited with Kinemon's group.

It's not a perfect answer to that whole deal - the flashback didn't really address the start of the feud or the dog and cat making it back to Zou like I had hoped, but it does seem likely to be the main intent behind their inaction the last 20 years.

AFAICR, the feud started in the flashback. One of the two, blamed the other being the traitor who got the information out. I think that was it.

Inu and Neko did know about Toki's prophecy, though, right? They knew they ought to wait for 20 years?

The only problem is Whitebeard didn't know that. He didn't bother to look for Oden for 20 years?

The only plausible explanation I can buy is Whitebeard having the knowledge of how both Oden and Roger was betting at someone that will appear 20 years into the future. Whitebeard standing still while knowing his "brother" got boiled alive by Kaido and Orochi is out-of-character.

Surprise element of devil fruit is possibly one of most dangerous things in One Piece world when it comes to fights. Cesar was prime example of that.

Doflamingo vs Sanji was another.

Apoo is VERY strong but I would like to see him being taken out next chapter. Also Queen getting KOed by Kong Gun + Asura + Kidds Punk attack would be cool as heck.
He would get back in chapter after it to show how durable Zoans are.

Also most of Supernovas seem to be stronger than base Luffy. He gets on top of the chain only once he activates Gear Fourth. Otherwise he is somewhere around medium strong Vice Admiral level of combat power(Base Luffy would have likely fail to beat Vergo imo).

That seems like it and is pretty bad writing in my point of view.
I hate discussing power levels because it's what Oda makes them to be.
But Gear 2nd is a very powerful mode and Luffy still should be a god in it considering how he is a haki monster now and was always strong in his base form. Gear 2nd amplifies those abilities whereas other DF users' physical boosting capabilities are questionable. Zoans are there but why would Luffy need Gear 4th for Apoo, Law, Kidd, Doflamingo etc. None of their DFs are boosting their physicality in which Luffy thrives without gears anyways.

Do you see a rescue arc for Vivi or Sabo?

Teach isn't the final villain and it doesn't take anything from him.

He is the dark side of D. They will clash, with their clash deciding on who is the D that was promised. He is THE villian no matter what. Him not being the final one doesn't take anything from him.

Don't you think it's a bit bad writing that Roger's and Edward's crew was at a stalemate when they fought in the flashback? Marco was just a kid, Whitebeard had Oden as his strongest fighter. I'm assuming Marco was 1st division commander back then as well?

My point is, how come that fight was even? Rayleigh was prime and Scopper Gaban was rocking as well. Who could stop them?

Well Luffy would only challenge Kaido, though.

Killer might be using poison. We don't know much about him.

And Zoro probably will fight King. He admittedly wants to cut fire and now we have King the Wildfire in front of him.

You might think King is too much for Zoro but this will be a growth fight. And King loves to torture and Zoro is a great candidate for that, being one of the tankiest dudes in the series - giving Zoro room to grow in the process.

I've shared my similar problems about lack of any effect of another emperor getting added to the mix on Alliance.
But when you think about it…
Samurasi are in this, even if this war is against the world. Today is the day they've been waiting for. So no matter what happens, they will fight.
It comes down to pirates. Strawhats, Kidd and Law's respective crews. Kidd is pretty much the same reckless guy as Luffy. So I don't think we need a discussion about him.
Law should have been acting a bit different though.

I'm not saying they should be actively displaying worry or fear. But a simple question how are we going to defeat both Big Mom and Kaido should have been asked.
Because this situation makes anything more dire even more than their wildest nightmares.

I think everyone assumes Big Mom is saved for Elbaf. Even if it is so, the Alliance doesn't know that. And I wish the dire fact that they're against two emperors now would hit already. Even the weak trio who trembled in the name of Big Mom before are chill about it.

What I presume is Oda saving that dire element of this fight for a double page with both Mom and Kaido in it.

I have to wonder where all the enemy forces are gonna go. In the past it's been the navy or royal guards who took care of clean up and detainment, but Wano is closed off, in a weakened state and facing numbers greater than any island before it. Some are definitely gonna escape, but they've got to be kept from coming back somehow, or they'll be free to do just that once the alliance breaks up and Luffy leaves.

What will compel Kaido not to just try again later? Unless he and BM start actively racing the SHs the last Road Poneglyph and One Piece, that could do it. But still, the logistics of keeping the remaining enemies in line after all this is mind boggling. I suppose Udon will be utilized a fair bit: I can just imagine some of the old guards being set to work in there, with maybe slightly better treatment.

Wano is mind-boggingly full of endless possibilities.
It's really hard to predict anything about aftermath. It can be the navy, it can be tama, it can be everything somehow transate to Elbaf. The beast pirates are ruled by the strongest. If Luffy overpowers Kaido, he is the new captain of Beast Pirates at heart. Not like all-stars will follow Luffy but other %99 just can. And he's a monkey as well Kaido probably gets depressed if he loses to Luffy. Kaido seems to has a weird connection to Pirate King epiphet. If he believes Luffy can be the next one we might see another Katakuri-type moment. It can be the Marines coming. Wano will open borders that way anyways. Whatever happens, it's going to be hell of a lot interesting.

This chapter really felt good!

I still was expecting some side-quest that'd be concerning for him -rather than this, which is: I gotta beat whoever it is they put in front of me.
Orochi is there for him, but he is there much much more for any other Samurai at this point, it's nothing special. Even if he fights him it's gonna come down to Orochi's own stupid overconfident of 'hey I got 8 swords' being overpowered by Ashura. Hoping at least we can get some fire-related stuff… And I'd really take anything related to Zoro-not-as-a-fighter.

Because it is what Zoro as a character is reduced to be. It was refreshing to see him laugh and shit a couple of chapters ago but I think more should have been done for his character. Yet, what he gets are a sword and just another fight. Oda still does have a room with the previously written Hiyori scenes and little attachment he had to Yasuie. Maybe introduce a flashback when he visited Ryuma's grave...

It's not about high screen time but rather the arc that could add to Zoro's character and history/story is a bit thin in content tailored for him, so far. And the build-up stage seems over.

Did anyone mention Zoro not having any resemblance of an alternate storyline is… a bit weird?

Wano, in theory was supposed to paralell Sanji's WCI, not saying it has to be, but there aren't any special care for him or his swordsmanship. Not even a foe at table.

At this point it's better if Kyoukai becomes the main character rather than revive him.

Kinemon was apeshit at Punk Hazard after seeing it so it was clear same would happen in Wano.

He could have said Zoro should hide it somewhere or cover it

I remember as it took time for Kinemon to react to it. As in only after Zoro unsheated Shusui Kinemon understood it was the particular sword.

Zoro, as it's in his nature, probably took the risky way of carrying the sword with him with the knowledge he shouldn't sheathe it. This is considering Shusui isn't the reason he was sentenced to die in the first place.

We need a comment on this at later chapters though. And probably will get it.

This is already an arc where Zoro could shine just from the fact that he is at the land of swordsmen. Plus if Oda wants to we can learn about Zoro's lineage and Asura technique which would make this Zoro's Arc. But just the fact that Zoro will get some extra fight in this arc doesn't make it automatically Zoro's arc. Zoro is a fighter in the crew and using swords to do it. And he is in the land of swordsmen, to fight. This should automatically translate to more Zoro screen time anyway. Nothing extra.

And we didin't see sanji use his memory shape armor yet. So far it was like Tony stark fighting without his armors, now sanji will go ironman.

The thing is people are judgind Sanji and Zoro and not their respective enemies.

Oda knows he displayed Sanji as a weakling. That's why he powered him up with that suite.

Zoro defeating Mr 1 and asura are reasons I can't get into this nakama. The kuma one was bullsht too, there is no way he could survive that.

It's just doesn't add up and creates inconstancies. Mr 1 defeat was a borderline ass-pull since we knew he was trying to achieve that ability. And we also know he did that with some kind of a haki. And in One Piece universe, no one just taps into a zen state and uses Haki abilities. But… That wasn't purely haki as well. So it's borderline whatever-you-call-it.

Kuma one isn't bullshit but makes him overly strong. Too strong then story allows him to be I'd say. But if Oda deemed Zoro to be that strong, he is.

And the problem with Zoro is, without a doubt, his character. Oda ruined Zoro.

I find any stories of this kind ridicilous. No side character could potentially grow exponentially more than our protagonists. Especially to the point, he is Admiral level already.

Also, I should point out that Katakuri is probably not as durable as people might expect.

He's gone years without taking a hit, and has supposedly never lost a fight. His focus is entirely on using his Haki to dodge attacks. So it wouldn't exactly be natural for him to be able to take a lot of abuse if he's not conditioned to tank attacks, and thus Luffy has a bigger chance of knocking out Katakuri with a few strong hits than Katakuri has of beating Luffy into submission.

I was thinking this too. Didn't other Sweet Commander go down in one shot because he wasn't used to getting hit? Same concept might apply here.

Gotta say, these recent weeks has been great.

I do believe that Katakuri's weakness is that using his Mocci drains his owns body's blood sugar. Pretty much him fighting continuously with his power is making him hypoglycemic. Luffy realized it between the "Sugar is the source of power" line and Katakuri mentioning that nobody else has really been able to dodge his blows like this before.

Katakuri isn't used to creating this much mocci in battle for such a long period of time without his snacks. So now that Luffy has realized this, I think he's gonna try and over power Katakuri with continuous Gear 4th attacks. Katakuri may be able to defend himself for a while, but buy the time he'll get the upperhand offensively he'll pass out, or at least be dizzy enough for Luffy to get a finishing blow in.

Your theory is pretty legit though.
