Edit: Oh, I see that online people are losing their minds over Gojo saying "No." instead of "Nah, I'd win." and calling for firing the translator. LOL, such devastation.
They actually changed it

At least we're back to yuji and co.
Gojo being released is looming closer and closer.
Gege's zeroing in on the final battles w/ Sukuna and kenjaku. Hopefully cutting off any new participants means cutting down on any more unnecessary battles.I think this also includes Gojo, so this means even if Gojo is freed he will be trransported outside immediatly.

RE: Detective Conan (Case Closed)
Who do you hope it will be? There's no buildup for any character so brace for impact
Reminds of the mentalist where people kept piling theories on red john identity lol

RE: How do you feel about Luffy's new fruit?
I like the power up, its really creative, fun and powerful, its also a great continuation to Luffy's growth as it builds up on everything he learned before and raise it to extreme levels.
I don't like the association with gods and Joy Boy. Then again it doesn't make sense for a random rubber fruit to be this powerful after awakening, so I can forgive this part.
All in all, excellent development.

RE: How Would You Write One Piece Differently/How Would you have wanted it.
In hindsight, of course we can pick and tear apart things to improve the story, as we have the luxury to look at the big picture and how the story flowed and see what worked and what did not.

RE: Chapter 1,045: Next Level
The only thing I'm not super into is this all white design. I guess the idea is that Luffy is shining as white as the Sun. Anyway, I still haven't seen a fanart that makes me love this colorization, so I'm waiting for the official colored/anime version.
I'm assuming in the anime he will be drawn like a literal manga character
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
If Awakening is indeed achieved by a near-death experience, that would explain why Kaido and Linlin never made it, since they both are unkillable.
Newgate wouldnt be interested.
The new generation certainly is taking things to the next level.
How do you know that? They didn't reach to where they are now without going throughout near death experiences.

RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
Honestly I think the discussion would be as much interesting without the spoiler thread. If anything everyone would discuss of the chapter at the same time. It is quite a shame that people like Captain M who are faithful to the official release get only the short stick of the discussion
Also it would avoid the toxicity of some spoiler discussions even if wolfwood likes it when it is a mess :-)
But as long as people still continue to read the scan instead of the official release there is no point in wishing for it.If you remove the spoiler threads all what would happen is that people would move on from this site and discuss the chapter elsewhere.
No one is dropping spoilers or unofficial release for the sake of this site lmao

RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
A lot of complains regarding a possible personality change to Luffy
Why no one questioned the case of Cavendish/Hakuba ? It's still out there with zero explanation to date!
In fact i would love to see a personality change, Luffy has been officially defeated in the war so it's time for the other side of the coin to flip and witness the beginning of the end to the story, if not now then when ? Kaido is the strongest in the world, all other enemies are levels below him so it's definitely the perfect time for this reveal combined with the liberation of Wano it couldn't get any better than this.
Because in case of cavendish that's his entire gimmick, his character is built around the 2 personality disorder. And it's been there since the character introduction.
This case with Luffy is different, I hope you can see how it is different.

RE: Top-Selling Manga 2021 in Japan
Well I hope that it makes Oda realize that writing 2 years arc long which focus on hundreth of new characters is not really what really appeal readers anymore.
2 years would've been fine.
Wano is approaching its FOURTH year now, its already over 3.5 years long.
At some point you just get sick of it. Move on already

RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
@MDL:
One of the best scenes was when Atomic Samurai tested him with the apple.
The bullshit meter was beyond broken in that exchange, and I loved it so much.which chapter is this? I don't remember the interaction
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
So I just checked and it appears this is another spoiler from the webcomic..
Thanks for the spoilers I guess.. doubt I will visit this thread again, too many people casually bringing spoilers here

RE: Jump Festa 2022 (this winter)
Stuff he teased 2 years ago still did not happen.
Might as well stop doing that until we catch up with what he teased last year lol
-
RE: Solo Leveling
Yeah that reveal was pretty cool. I was afraid we would reset and go through it again, skull boy style.
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
I think its obvious Orochi is supposed to be the sacrifice to whatever being that is. Possibly "God" figure we keep hearing about.
-
RE: Half Year Manga Sales Ranking 2021 !
I think the problem with OP backlog is there are too damn many of them, they are really a big investments for new readers.
So I think the best solution is to read the chapters online for 2 bucks a month
-
RE: Accessibility for those who don’t start at Chapter 1.
That's why streaming services are great for backlogs.
I pay $2 monthly and got access to thousands of chapters via the Shonen Jump application.
Buying the volumes for new user is insane, that's like a thousands dollar lol
-
RE: Chapter 1,013: Anarchy in the B.M.
Kaido saying he got fired up meaning he used some new technique unknown to us.
Maybe he awakened his fruit for a brief moment and demolished Luffy.
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
Man that blacksperm is really creepy, I expect he will be the most dangerous of all cadres.
I wonder when Garou will show up, things are getting interesting for sure.
-
RE: Named characters that died after Luffy started his journey.
Monet and Vergo both died, move on people. People here have been claiming their return since chapter 693 and they still did not show up.
-
RE: Holding the Pen: a "What If?" thread
Law dying would be a bit contradictory to the lesson Rosinante gave him, and would render the latter's efforts moot.
Law needs to live if he wants Rosinante's sacrifice to be worth something.
I was half joking about Law. His constant involvement in the story is the symptom of a much bigger issue in One Piece post Time skip.
Ever since the new world, the story focus has greatly shifted from the Strawhats to "allies and side characters", Oda spends so much time to create and involve those side characters nowadays that the Strawhats barely get time to shine.
We have spent half the new world with the crew separated, either in Dressrosa, zou or whole cake arc, until we reached a point were we cannot even have the Strawhats featured in the final war against Kaidou because there are so many characters hogging screen space.
So yeah if there is one thing I would change, is to shift the story focus back to the Strawhats, it used to be a story about their adventure, but that's not the focus anymore.
-
RE: The great old Kingdom's name
Can we have at least summary for those not able to watch 30+ min video
-
RE: Holding the Pen: a "What If?" thread
Kill Law in Dressrosa arc, his whole purpose was to use the strawhats to defeat Doflamingo and avenge his dead brother. After Dressrosa, there was no reason for him to continue in the story.
Law needs to go ASAP.

RE: Do you think Wano will end in 2021? Let's vote
No just more of the same little bits and pieces, trading some blows here or there before switching opponents, with no actual full length fights for anyone but Luffy. Just a long run around until the end.
Maybe this worked for Marineford since not everyone needed to be defeated. But how do you suggest Oda will resolve all the fighting then? Will pirates stop after Kaidou is defeated?
Because trust me, he won't tell them to leave him and run like WB lol!
-
RE: Do you think Wano will end in 2021? Let's vote
I was hoping things would tighten up after 1000, but there's still a lot of setup going on, and if the count this year is similar to last year (967 to 999), the last chapter of the year will be around 1032. That's about 20 chapters left give or take, two volumes' worth, and we'll need at least 10 for all the fights set up right now. That's not to mention what Zoro and Sanji will end up doing, if they get mateched up with King and Queen and require another few chapters for those top officers. The fight with Kaido will probably need 3-5 focused chapters minimum. And averting the collision with the Flower Capital needs at least one.
Can the battles finish by the end of '21? I still think it's possible, but it'll be close. And if we're talking about post-battle celebrations, goodbyes and such, I'm pretty confident at least that will extend into '22.
That would mean Wano will be running for around 4 years, that's nuts! How many more arcs do we have? And the final one will surely surpass Wano, didn't Oda say he wanted to finish OP in 5 years? That sounds impossible.
Unless we literally enter the final saga right after Wano.
-
RE: You get to remove one character from Wano
Would remove Kaidou.
Yeah, separate Wano into two arcs. I personally don't feel any connection between Kaidou and Wano. He supposedly lived here for 20 years, but doesn't seem to have formed any relationship with the island, having everything be intermediated by Orochi. Focus on Wano characters and then have Kaidou come here or have Onigashima be further away from Wano, I don't know. Reatking Wano for the samurai could have been another step to attract Kaidou's attention, like Dressrosa was.
That's why we are so advanced in the arc without knowing anything about the villain himself
I once criticized Kaidou's lack of depth and involvement in the arc, and got shit for saying that by multiple members here :getlost:
Yeah Oda will flesh him out but so far, 100+ chapters in the arc, Kaidou's character remains a big question mark.
-
RE: You get to remove one character from Wano
Well, if anything, he's going to stick around until the end.
As long as he knows his place, fine. But Im sick of him stealing stealing Choppers glory (and others too!)
-
RE: Chapter 1,011: The Code of Sweet Beans
Bigmom is the most powerful individual in Wano at the moment, not even Kaidou could stop her in his state. And she just does whatever she wants attacking both sides, lmao.
-
RE: Chapter 1,011: The Code of Sweet Beans
The Kaidou dialogue was translated differently than what Sandman have said. Interesting.
edit: beaten, although I don't if they missed it or Sandman did.
-
RE: Theory: Pirates vs Final Enemy
So this final enemy could be another creature.. or even demigod level creature. I honestly can't imagine..
The final enemy needs to be a well established villain with ambition and motives that matches Luffy.
Introducing a "demigod creature" as a final opponent does nothing for me. That's not what One Piece is about.
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
Goddamn that was brutal! Amazing chapter.
Can't wait for the next 5 revisions of this battle :P
-
RE: A lot of the new female characters post-timeskip look like Nami
Oda can draw unique women, as shown here. But because he mainly draws them to be attractive, he has one model he follow. A shame really.

RE: Who's going to die in Wano? (If any) Let's discuss
Considering how it was made apparent early on that the Scabbards lived and fought to avenge Oden and fulfill his dream of opening Wano, I’m willing to believe this. I’m really not sure where the Scabbards would go after that in terms of plot, because it seems their story would be finished by then and I’m not sure what else there could be for them to do after achieving such fulfillment.
Well they have to protect Wano from whatever threat that forced their ancestors to close the borders.
They can also focus on rebuilding Wano to its former glory.
I don't think any of the scabbards are going to die. Except for Kanjuro ofc.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Kaidou
Won't die because Oda won't cater to his suicidal tendencies in his Japanese Shounen manga. Practically zero chance, exactly because he wants to die.
I think Oda could give him a reason to live, and it could be as simple as wanting to see what will happen in the future. That is if he really want to keep him in the story.
But I think his presence is too big to just sideline him like that. He is the strongest creature in the world, he can't be captured or put in jail. So what do you do with a suicidal beast like that.
-
Who's going to die in Wano? (If any) Let's discuss
This thread was inspired by the discussion of chapter 1008 where almost no one seem to believe that Ashura Doji is dead. And who can blame the doubters? Oda doesn't seem to be capable of killing anyone without bringing them back at some point.
However, just like Ace and Whitebeard death were inevitable, I think some characters have to die in this arc. They just HAVE to, the story cannot progress forward with them alive. The main one I am speaking of is Kaidou. The second character is Orochi, there's no way that the Wano arc could ever conclude with them alive… how could they? What suitable fate that could await beside death? Kanjuro is the third character in my mind.
These three characters are the ones who I can bet they are going to die. I'm sure others would disagree and and have their own characters who think they will die, so lets discuss!
-
Do you think Wano will end in 2021? Let's vote
This is something that I always assumed would be true. However, 3 months into 2021 and the serious fight have yet to begin.. Thought it would be fun to vote on.
This will easily be the longest arc in the entire series and I can only imagine how long will the final arc be.
Things we have left in the arc:
-
Commanders fights
-
Emperors Fight
-
Kaidou centric flashback
-
Epilogue
Do you think this can be done this year? we have 25-30 chapters left.
-
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
Guys I know we all are anxious about the cadre fight. But it's their manga. They redraw whatever the fuck tehy want.
And people can express their frustration at that.
-
RE: Chapter 1,004: Millet Dumplings
Hyiori is more logical but Toki would be more impactful.
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
Good chapter, but let's hope they are done with the constant re-working of old chapters.
-
RE: Jump Festa 21
@Johnny:
I just want to see Blackbeard show why he is a Yonkou sometime soon. It can be in one of those between-Act chapters.
It would kill the momentum of the war if we suddenly shift to blackbeard in the middle of it.
I hope Oda doesn't cut away, not until Kaido is put down.
-
RE: Chainsaw-man
This was a really beautiful finale. Amazing part 1.
I'm assuming Fujimoto will be taking a well deserved break before starting part 2.
Can't wait.
-
RE: Solo Leveling
Wingdings killed me lmao.. its supposed to be gibberish written in windings font, but the typesetter took that too literally.
-
RE: Chainsaw-man
I heard leaks are saying next chapter is the final one with an important announcement..
Bruhhh the implications are crazy. I hope the announcement is an anime, not a second season of the manga.
-
RE: Solo Leveling
Are you guys keeping up with this?
It seems the next few chapters we will finally learn the truth of the system.
Haven't been hyped like this since the ant island.
-
RE: Chainsaw-man
Yeah the latest chapter was something really great.
It seems the series is entering the climax after this this arc.
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
Its A redraw… not new chapter..
It's a redraw, this is back when Atomic Samurai and Black S hadn't met yet.
I know, I completely forgot about him until I read this redrawn chapter. Maybe it's because of all the delays and author spent time on redrawing old chapters I lost interest.
I think even the emperor dude is still around.
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
Oh wow I totally forgot about black sperm.
I thought the arc was over with Tatsumaki's fight lol
