Actually Taikoubou is very powerful, he's just very lazy and underhanded. 
You'll realize as the story goes that everything Taikoubou does, he does for a reason.
The anime was a disgrace.
Now lets never speak of it again.
Houshin Engi is probably my all time favorite manga (other than HXH and One Piece). Like Kuro I've read all the scanlations, it only gets better and better with each volume. Taikoubou is hands down the best and most original shonen hero Jump has produced. Another cool favorite is Kou Hiko.

10. Sacrifice (PC) - Roaming messed up lands under the command of one of 5 crazy gods, summoning twisted creatures such as twisted mutants, gargoyles, dragons, and machine gun toting critters on stilts to battle enemy wizards, casting spells from fireballs, creating tornadoes and summoning Death it self. The Gods MUST be crazy. (crazy awesome

9. TIE - Earthworm Jim & Ratchet and Clank (SNES & PS2) -

A puny earthworm equipped with a super suit, armed with a laser gun and a rip-cord rocket battles a Crow spaceman, a Scientist with a monkey graphted to his head, a hell born demon cat, a goldfish and an insectoid queen with a bloated, malformed, infected, pulsating slug for a butt.

A cartoon mammal with a wrench and a small yet witty robot strapped to his back. The duo then use weapons and devices that twist, alter, create and destroy all that they see fit.
How can games like these possibly lose?!
8. Half-Life 2 (PC) - From the crazy 1984(the novel)esque opening, to the Insane physics engine that made it awesome and even the free copy of Counter Strike: Source, and best of all... the Gravity Gun!:wub: This is the first FPS I truly enjoyed from start to finish.
7. TIE - King of Fighters series and Fatal Fury Series - I grew up playing Street Fighter and got sick of it fairly quick but what made me LOVE the fighting game genre like I do now was and still is Fatal Fury and KoF. Sweet Character designs, fancy and complicated moves and my favorite fighting game character ever, Terry Bogard. (represented in both games)
6. Mega Man Anniversary Collection (Gamecube) - Mega Man 1-8 and the ever rare Power Fighters 1 & 2. Seriously do I need to explain any further?
5. Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade (PC) - Starcraft left a void in me that was never truly filled. I tried several other RTS games but few to none actually met the standard that Starcraft left me. Then came Warhammer 40k Dawn of war which not only met the standard, it destroyed it and created a new one. Then came it's expansion Winter Assault, again meeting the standard and destroying it. Then finally Dark Crusade. Why settle for the linear (though great) plot of DW and WA when you can go on a worldwide campaign of destruction as one of 7 races. Dark Crusade is my RTS of choice. (at least until Starcraft 2 
)
4. Super Robot Wars Alpha series (PSX and PS2) - An epic space saga spanning 4 games (1, Gaiden, 2 & 3) and 2 consoles. The greatest mecha heroes of Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Macross, Gundam, GaoGaiGar, Daimos, Voltes V, Combattler V, Jeeg, Brain Powered, Evangelion, Ideon, Dancougar, Raideen and many more team up with original units to battle evil across the universe. Hot-Blooded awesome!
3. Jump Ultimate Stars (DS) - Those who know me as Genroh should be aware of my love for this game, seeing as how I wrote the guide for it and it's predecessor Jump Superstars. 4 player Smash Bros. styled fighting using many of the Shonen Jump greats all in a nice little handheld system. That has to be a good thing.
2. TIE - Final Fantasy 6 & 7 (SNES & PSX) - FF7 was my first exposure to the genre called RPG. Needless to say, it blew me away. Then I sought out past Final Fantasy games to try and found only one in a $10 bin at an old town electronics store, Final Fantay III (actually 6) played it and I was since then torn between the two as to which was my favorite. Granted since then I've played many other RPGs I felt were more awesome Chrono Trigger, Suikoden, Xenogears, Shadow Hearts, Skies of Arcadia, etc. But these two Final Fantasy titles were my first RPGs and thus have a special place in my heart. :happy:
1. I honestly have yet to play a game I consider my overall favorite as I have so many favorites now and potential favorites on the way. (Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Warhammer Online, BioShock, White Knight Chronicles, etc.)

! 1. Hanging a guy naked with hooks along his back and pouring boiling hot grease on his back.
2. As an apology for burning and torturing the guy, he cuts off part of his tongue and gives it the the guys mob boss.
3. Locking a guy up in a TV case and stabbing him with long needles.
4. Biting the skin off a guys knuckles.
5. Slicing the same guy's "member" down the middle just to teach him a lesson.
I recomend the manga Koroshiya Ichi (and it's movie Ichi the Killer), but only if you have the stomach for it. (seriously not for the faint hearted)
The main character Ichi is in some ways even more disturbing but some of the details on him are probably best left unsaid.

Well then I also recomend Super Robot Wars D for the Gameboy Advance Zera. Since Getter Robo Armageddon is one of the central plot points in that game. (complete with convict Ryoma graphic, Heats as the Getter Robo battle theme and a kick ass double team with Shin Getter Robo and Shin Getter Dragon).
And if Getter Robo is the deal breaker for you Russel, then I GREATLY recommend Alpha 3 as Shin Getter is all kinds of awesome in that.
Actually you can get MX for about $20-30 off ebay (that's how I bought my copy) and it is worth getting.
The original units are great, and unlike Alpha it has G Gundam, Grendizer(plus the quad-attack with him and Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger and Getter Robo G), Dragonar, Machine Robo and Zeorymer(think Ideon without the liability).
But thats not to say Alpha 3 has nothing going for it. You get GaoGaiGar, Dancougar, Macross, Ideon, and Jeeg. (not to mention OG characters Zanger and Rastel and their respective mechs)
If you can I highly recomend both. Alpha 3 for having so many mechs to choose from and MX for pure old school awesome (Grendizer and Zeorymer need to be in more SRW games).

Watchmen is a true classic and I'm not confident a 2+ hour long (if that) movie could do the 12 issues justice.
What sells a character for me?
Well let's see… Well for one thing the story they're involved in has to catch my attention and how they handle them selves through it makes up a large part on who and why I like them as well.
Roz's list on bonus points is another good example on characters I like. Be it for certain articles of clothing, attitude, weapons and/or fighting techniques (if any), intelligence, silliness, etc. etc. All are things that play a part in who and why I like a character.
Argh! I forgot about them too. Well on behalf of Carter and myself heres the 2 best villains in Big-O.
