RE: Chapter 908: The Reverie Begins
I am now starting to think this Imu is the secret treasure of Marie Geoise. We know the kings of the world don't know about this person due to the scenes in the previous chapter (calling it the Empty Throne, the whole bit about the pledges etc.). It's implied this person is a secret with great power. knowledge of this person's existence also goes completely against the philosophy the WG publicly states to adhere to. This person being the treasure also makes sense taking ch. 906 into account, where Doffy speaks of the treasure and we cut to the scene of Imu walking into a vault with a prominently placed object. It's a nice way of subverting our expectations while actually showing us the treasure. I also think it makes more sense than a hat with mystical properties or something being the treasure. Or I like it more at least.

RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
I agree.
I've pointed out before to some… Lucci, Kaku ect, were raised to be heartless agents for the government, esp. CP9
In the Enies Lobby arc, we see that the govt. would take orphans and raise them, train them from young age to be obedient fighters for the upper reaches of the government.
He was only 13 when he was suppose to take care of some pirates holding a mass of people hostage. He killed all the hostages so the pirates wouldn't have a leverage over the marines.Rob Lucci not caring about if royals getting killed is not new. Him taking orders from someone higher up in social standing (no matter the mental capacity .. or lack of!) is not new. I don't get why people think he has grown a heart over the 2 years or that he had a problem taking orders from a CD when, as you point out, he took orders from Spandam when the Spanda (love Franky's insults) was head of CP9
Also, Oda has this thing about beating people by destroying their dream/principles (by beating them). Lucci doesn't have any to destroy, hence there's no reason for him to change like Luffys's other opponents, from that point of view.

RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
Like here in reality the most powerful 5 countries have the core seats in the UNO (or NATO, whatever). But whenever a country gets more powerful than one of the 5, they exchange places.
Do you mean the U.N. security council? It's not necessarily the 5 most powerful countries. It's the 5 countries which were the victors of WWII: China, Russia, the United Kingdom, France and the U.S.A. Germany, for instance, doesn't have a seat on the council but is arguably more powerful than France. These 5 countries hold a permanent position on the council while there are 10 non-permanent members which rotate membership of the council based on region.
This isn't an argument against the rest of you post or anything, but I thought I'd clear that up.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
@Monkey:
Screwtape owns.
He's just a cantankerous little giggling leprechaun throwing walnuts at us all, and it's cool if you just learn to appreciate the comedy of it.He did name himself after a didactic demon, so it's to be expected I guess.

RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
I'm maintaining my theory that it really isn't Empty and that throne is occupied by the one who rules above all of the Celestial Dragons… I don't buy this notion being peddled that no one person would have power above all..
Perhaps its that mysterious figure wearing what clearly appears to be a crown on his head at the end of the last chapter. We've not seen any other Celestial Dragon wearing a crown.....Though i don't really have anything to support such a claim, just a thought...as I'm not 1 to indulge in theories like that usually..
The two do at least seem stylistically similar if that's anything to go on. And I agree, it might not be.

RE: Chapter 907: The Empty Throne
I'm very curious to know if that empty throne has always been merely symbolic or if, at some point in the past, it used to have someone sit in it. And if so, who.

RE: Chapter 906: The Holy Land Mary Geoise
Isn't the "S" silent in "Geoise"? Then Icalled a certain brand of cigarettes wrong all the time
No, a word final "e" after "s" and other consonants is usually silent unless a diacritic is used while a word final "s" after a vowel is usually silent. So the word final "(e)s" in Gauloises is silent. Chrior explains is properly on this page as it relates to the names in OP

RE: Old Enemies!!
Rob Lucci may get that strong only because he's the first villain Luffy actually defeated or surpassed. Every win before Lucci was mostly luck, as Luffy was fighting stronger opponents he had very little chance against. {Except Alvida and Morgan}
=DAlso, Oda's whole thing about breaking an enemy's dream and principles by beating them doesn't seem to apply as much to Lucci as it does to Luffy's other enemies. It feels that way to me at least. I don't think we ever got to see the look of unbelief we've seen with other enemies, he kept smirking, and because Lucci mentioned a few times that he was simply doing his job, it wasn't so much breaking him as simply surpassing him. I can imagine him playing a part in this respect.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
@Big:
This also bags the question if Oda wants to reveal whose on the other bounty poster already. If it's Blackbeard than every reader automatically knows that the big finale fight is supposed to be Luffy vs Blackbeard or that htere's an astronomically high chance of this happening and all the suprise is gone… On the other hand, figuring out that Teach is going to be the Final Villain isn't really something Oda is very subtle about himself.
Yeah, there are arguments for Akainu being the big bad adversary but I can't get behind it, based partly on how Teach has been portrayed, but also, and perhaps mostly, on how Akainu has been portrayed. Yes he killed Ace, but Teach also had a hand in that and Akainu has hardly been anything more than a stern face growling about justice. Though he might be fleshed out yet, so far he's not been a very interesting character, just a good representation of an overly enthusiastic applied principle.

I can't stop giggling at this picture. Chimerism is an actual word so that one?
When I noticed the three skulls thing I also noticed that Blackbeard has a somehwat similar body shape to Oars, but that might very well not be anything important. Anyway, if the three skulls means anything I'd at least expect it to mean that Blackbeard has some link to Oars, be it genetic or otherwise. As for the links to Kaido, I really don't know, I find theorising pretty difficult. Not the thinking up of theories itself but attaching any weight to a single one. it makes my head all whirly. I'd hope and expect to learn something about Kaido's history in Wano and then link it to the flag, and following form that to Blackbeard. Or I'll leave it to you. You seem to have knack for it. Well done, is what I'm saying.

I am… new
Yes, I am new. Hi. I've been into OP for about 15 years and the last few weeks have intensified that liking, though I don't know exactly why.
Anyway, to get my fix in between anime and manga I've been lurking for a while and decided to register because I actually had something to add to a discussion. I hope it'll be good.
Cheers. -
RE: A One Piece Rabbit Hole of Theories - The Straw Hat Under Marie Geoise
New member here, though I've done much lurking, and I registered an account to say this:
You mentioned the symbol on Oars' clothes, the horns which turn up in multiple places and how the latter may relate to Kaido. There's also the fact that Oars' belt has three skulls. As far as I know this only turns up in two other places: on the belt of Little Oars Jr. and on Blackbeard's flag. Blackbeard's flag also has the 4 crossbones just like Kaido's. In a roundabout way that links them too and that in turn may relate to the whole thing about Blackbeard having an unusual body.
Though it's hardly evidence of anything it does generate some more layers of suggestion
