Law is so funny~ Absalom! Such a good find, it was not obvious from the mangareader scanlation though, and Bonney o.o, Jinbe!!!! I want him to catch up already x(!!! .. and so many things happening!

PS: I think DD is quite wrong on his assumption on Luffy. Why would he care about the fruit…. though I'm not sure about "his pace" and if it means something more..

    • RE: Chapter 690: S.A.D

Regarding the idea that one can get the impression that Luffy is somehow manipulated by Law into cooperating with his plans… I don't think that's the case as it was Law who had to adjust to the Strawhat's demand in helping the kids and the samurai. So, I think they are still in an even and fair control of the alliance. No one's controlling the alliance or what since the Strawhats are still doing what they like (i.e. saving the kids, etc.)

Law's badass moment is amusing. If Oda can make Law this cool by talking back to Doflamingo, I'm damn excited as what Luffy will do (besides punching and etc.). I can't wait for Ussop's warning to Law about Luffy's "emperor-class" selfishness since Law seems like the person who loves conjuring up plans. And I get the feeling that it will be a little late before he realizes how Luffy just ... can't follow any plans. Moment should be funny and interesting.

I'm glad Caesar got up ~ and I'd like to see him use his gas trick again and figure out whether Luffy can do something about him trying to mess with the oxygen or something. Or did I miss something about this attack?

I would like Vergo to get up again too ~ and see how this would all play out.

      Fun fun~

    • RE: Chapter 609: "Adventure on Fishman Island" Discussion

Loved the chapter, I just found it a bit weird it was the new fishmen pirates who gave the little history lesson. I would've preferred if they just mentioned there's just no way any one in their right mind will donate blood to sanji, and stop right there and let others explain to Luffy the little history.

The colorspread was just absolutely stunning! Makes up for the few weeks we will have to wait! 🙂 I already felt the royal army were good people in contrast to Sky Island's situation. But dang, it was just too much of a cliffhanger they were carrying with them Jinbe's message! XDD

      Weee~

EDIT: It's also not the first time Sanji's jokes were turned into plot points such as the case of the wanted poster, pointing to an actual character, Duval. I still find it very amusing ~ I do wonder how Sanji will get cured of his nosebleed. I'm quite positive he will get cured in this arc. XD

      @Sea:

I sincerely hope you are not seriously thinking that Roger was too ashamed to let people know he had a DF while the honorable Whitebeard who was also acknowledged as the strongest Pirate at that time had no problem showing it off to the world.
Because that made absolute no sense.

Eep @_@! Nah, wasn't thinking that.

I also think it wouldn't make sense he will even hide his DF powers or be ashamed to show it or USE it. I was thinking of that particular instance when he said as to why Garp wouldn't bother telling Luffy. xD I wanted to say that even if for some peculiar reasons Oda justifies why Luffy doesn't find out he has the same DF as Pirate King, he will never be able to justify not telling or hinting this piece of information to the readers 😄

      @Cymelion:

No perhaps about it - it is wacky and unlikely.

      Hence the "Gut feeling" facet.

Well, this particular topic has been discussed for few pages so this may be late in reply but … one thing I also noticed is that... while Cymelion has some points as to why some other characters may not want to reveal to Luffy that his DF bears similarity to the Pirate King's ... it does not make sense at all that Oda will hide this from readers. (Robin's past, Strawhat's history, etc. were revealed to the readers even if they were not revealed to the characters concerned in the story... ) There's just no hint of what so ever and is what Sea and the others are calling it... bad writing or plot hole.

So I'm wondering what other similarities or parallels will be understandable between Luffy and Roger... I wonder if he'll also get a disease :ninja: I'm kind of feeling he's bound to get this ... just so to fulfill Chopper's dream.

Also, I wonder how others would feel if certain crew members of Roger also bear resemblance to Luffy's crew ... lol! (this reminded me of some other shounen ... lol which I found ridiculous and annoying for that story) ... though depending on how Oda does it, it might turn out to be different. But then again, we don't know much about Roger's other crew members... Hopefully we get to meet more in New World...

Oda using a flashback to try to pass ace's childish behavior with akainu as cool ,and give him CoC despite not being mentioned by the whitebeard's pirates during the war

Maybe Ace wasn't able to use it properly as Shanks or Hancock was able to? Thus, they couldn't associate this ability with Ace. xD Just a guess..

don't watch the Ichigo 100% anime its god awful read the manga instead although you will still be disappointed when you finish reading it
and iv'e read through this thread and i'm shocked how terrible some of the suggestions are i mean black lagoon seriously other than both having pirates how the hell are they similar ,some people also seem to think just because two series a both shonen there similar witch is completely untrue.
true fully there really isn't much like one piece Fairy tail is like one piece executed poorly ,Soul eater mixes good characters with humor and fights but still difrent from one piece ,Gurren lagann has crazy characters and fights with good character development and the same sense of fun as Onepiece and theres the obvious dragonball but really there nothing quite like one piece
but you could always just try another Genre

I believe it doesn't mean it has to be similar to One Piece. Of course originality in story should always be a priority of an author. Perhaps he/she meant to ask any other series that will give the same level of entertainment as One Piece? Now it depends on what you enjoy in One Piece. But he/she specifically mentioned he/she enjoys funny scenes the most so these series came to mind.

Now I realized how long this thread has been lol. But there are plenty of funny animes that are not under OP's genre but gives me the same entertainment coz it's just pure funny and fun to watch. But haven't found any thing like One Piece in terms of story, characters and world. I have yet to try Gintama… but it seems so episodic that it turns me off as I love to watch a series with a bigger plot especially if it's a series that has numerous episodes (beyond 50) ... Soul Eater, I havent seen so maybe I should try it. 😄

Anyways, I look forward to suggestions! XD

I've tried Reborn, I've seen Naruto and Bleach (They started good, in fact I saw them prior to seeing One Piece... but they just can't keep the quality) ... Other mangas I'm reserving and waiting for their animes. XD

Woah, that supposed villain showed up too early. But of course even if he is hyped as the greatest dark lord ever, I'm pretty sure someone worse will show up roll eyes. I kind of like his character though (person with a kind (?) heart but possess the deadliest of evil powers).

What's up with Natsu's reaction… I felt it was a bit too much. How come he's so violent and disapproving? Though perhaps maybe he just feels too tense to meet someone creepy who claims to know him. XD

    • RE: Legacies, Parallels, and Fate

      @Cymelion:

Maybe Buggy did notice - but it's not time to learn that - like it was never time to learn what power WB has - or why Robin was hunted - Besides if he did then what back then "Oh wow thats the DF Roger had" "How do you know?" "Oh I was on his crew" "Didn't you just say you were on the same crew as Shanks?" "Yes we were both were on Rogers ship" …. see how much could have been said in a little time.

Look at how things are shown in the Manga - big build up - little clues here and there - then a big reveal and suddenly all the hints add up.
Shanks having a DF somewhere close to Luffy - like almost right infront of where he was sitting.
All the other similarities of Roger and Luffy - I know it's just a little too convenient but seriously I think this is something Oda is leading up to - if it is true I feel bad because the moment wont affect me as much as 😞

Mhm, one thing I felt about One Piece is that Oda doesn't hide things just because he feels it's not the time to reveal it. Whenever the situation of the story calls for a detail, he does reveal it appropriately.

Luffy met a lot of people that were familiar with Roger. Buggy, Shanks, Ganfall, Rayleigh, etc. None of them had the same reaction as Hancock's sisters when they saw Luffy release his CoC ? So, I really think based on the clues, it's not logical at all for the story to suddenly say Luffy had the same fruit as Roger's. Oda is better than that, I believe.

      …huh?

      Anyway, no way Togashi's sick.

Look, if he was ill to the point where the only thing he could do was play Dragon Quest 24/7, he would probably be stricken to his bed.

But his comments from JUMP talk about him visiting his child's school for visitation day and doing productive things like, getting a driver's license. Always a good thing to do when you've reached mid-life eh Peter Pan?

It probably has to do with his refusal to use assistants and, as I mentioned before, TROPHY GOLDMINE WIFE.

Ah, sorry if I wasn't clear. Nahh, I just find it a scary thought that Oda loses inspiration before he finishes One Piece or for some other matter fail to finish it! Something that happened to Togashi and Nana's author despite their series' popularity. xD Hope it was better phrased this time xD

Knowing these kind of things is really interesting for me XD

I wound up having to remove the binding with a scalpel, with which I have no skill…It took 8 unpleasant hours of cutting myself and shaving away at the super glue binding before I was ready to scan. The scanning took three hours, and I finished it at 1:30 AM. But I don't think very well when I'm tired, so the last five hours of rotating, optimizing and resizing the images went by very slowly. • RE: Chapter 603: "Keep it in Your Heart" Discussion

Sorry about this long post! >.< Just wanted to post some thoughts of my own XD

The discussion about feelings and reactions regarding the recent revelations about Roger and Luffy's similiarities are really interesting.

First, of lineage and relations. What I like about One Piece is perhaps the fact that a lineage doesn't guarantee you power. What I mean to say is Luffy being Dragon's son and Garp's grandson didn't give him any cheap power and any advantage to other people. His father never even saw Luffy… much less help him. Though he did once in Loguetown. However I acknowledge Luffy got a lot of help due to his father's connections but this was only shown from the Impel Down arc. I found it a bit cheap that Iva was conveniently a friend of Dragon so he was willing to help Luffy. However, it was also very logical for that situation as Luffy was really unfortunate as he did not have his precious crew with him.

How about his similarity to Roger?

I'm almost always touched to see some parallels between them and whenever a character is reminded of Roger when they see Luffy. It's not like Luffy is becoming a copy of Roger, but rather Luffy has the certain traits that made people respect and admire Roger. Like perhaps for example, recklessness and fearlessness when it comes to doing something they want regardless of the consequences. I find this really touching because the OP World seemed to have lost a great person (Roger) and seeing Luffy brings smiles to people who were saddened by this event.

I find this very cool as well as Luffy gains the approval of people who were associated with Roger and acknowledges him and his dream even before he accomplishes it. (People calling him Pirate King and such even before he reaches Raftel). It's this support that truly sets him apart from his rivals and other Pirate King wannabes. It's also cool as it's not like he seeks this kind of recognition and approval from people, but rather people go to him and are attracted to his personality.

Luffy isn't unique in this sense though as Blackbeard (his most worthy rival) also has this ability to attract people (the kind of people that Luffy will gladly beat though...). Blackbeard attracts the bad people and Luffy attracts the good natured ones.

Luffy's Training (as well as the crews)

Training has always been important to make someone stronger. What I hate most is heroes or characters that are just too great and gifted... coz the author says so. Luffy wasn't at all gifted from the start. He simply had a dream and at such a young age he realized he needed to be strong to even TRY for that dream. Hence the reason he waited 10 years before going out into the sea. The time skip isn't the first training Luffy had... it was even before he became a pirate.

What I have appreciated about Luffy's growth is Oda made a lot of ways for Luffy to grow emotionally and physically without ALWAYS blatantly using a training arc. He also used their experience as a crew to bring forth their growth and development which was very sweet to watch as it unfolds.

However, slowly, I find that as the story revealed more of its world, it wasn't just about becoming a Pirate King but rather his desire to achieve freedom to roam the seas to do his adventures (something true pirates desire perhaps? This reminded me of Jack Sparrow). With this dream came the possibility of changing the world (not necessarily saving it ... as cliche as some story brings) though Luffy doesn't necessarily desire this.

This is where I find the big difference and interesting bit about Roger and Luffy. Luffy aims to achieve what Roger achieved but it seems he is being destined to do something more. Whether or not he will be _able_ to do that, is the main question which every character that decided to support Luffy is anticipating.

Was it so cheap that he got trained by Rayleigh?

I find the answer, No. It wasn't like Rayleigh decided to help Luffy right after they met. It wasn't like Luffy asked Rayleigh to train him either. Rayleigh was curious to meet Luffy though to see what kind of person he is. I believe if he hadn't witnessed Luffy punching the Tenryuubito for Hachi and risking everything to save his brother, he would have never considered training Luffy.

Because of what Luffy did, Rayleigh realized his potential (I imagine this as his ability to do something about the true history and WG)… it was only after this that he prolly decided he needs to help this person become strong.

I was never disappointed with their training because it seemed so imperative. It wasn't simply a matter of defeating a particular "boss" in an arc that brought about this training. It was a matter of SURVIVAL. They can't just go merrily in their ship going wherever they please. And it also shows that Luffy's dream isn't a matter of race or time as well. There are scary people out there that are after the same thing. But what I love about this struggle is that sense of dread that I feel for the OP world whenever I think that it's Blackbeard not Luffy that will get to "One Piece". And I find Blackbeard has an equal chance as Luffy if you think about it given that his plans went accordingly in the war and he got two devil fruits now.

Oda showed the terrifying power of the "strongest" people. What I loved most is when he called them "strongest" he really meant it and showed the difference in their level. Not just come cheap tactic to make the reader feel suspense or what. He established the hierarchy of the world really well and you get to see Luffy's position and also look forward to his growth. That way, when he finally beats these strong people it's satisfying to watch.

      @city_lights31:

I was going to say this but stopped in my tracks because I knew someone would reply with 'hey, shouldn't someone have mentioned that Luffy has Roger's same freaking hat.'

It's hard to tell how widely known it is that Roger wore that hat and equally impossible to tell how widely known it is what his DF powers were if he had any at all.

I think Roger wasn't famous yet when he wore that hat and Shanks must have had it already when the Roger pirates became famous because even Whitebeard associates the hat with Shanks not Roger. I don't think they'll have the same fruit. I'm very interested in knowing how Shanks got the hat and how it became his treasure before he passed it onto Luffy. It's interesting that there are so many similarities to Roger and Luffy despite them not having any blood relation and having met before. But it makes me feel that Shanks influence in the story is being undermined and I'm his fangirl soo @@ …. lol.

      @Mugiwara_kun:

After this chapter, i'm pretty much convinced the hat is the "One Piece". Also, it's a bit sad that Luffy basically only follows in Roger's and Shanks' footsteps, who already conquered the Grand Line and are all pretty much the same person. Fun and party-loving, want a small crew, believe in fate, have the Straw Hat…it's like a dude climbing the Everest to reach his buddies who are waiting for him at the top, it's just not as impressive.

Mhmm, but I personally believe it's not just about being in the top or pirate king anymore. The "will" for me isn't about becoming the pirate king but rather what Luffy can do to change the world, which Roger had hoped and perhaps Shanks but they were unable to.

There's still a ton of things Luffy can do to surpass these people and I sure look forward to it 🙂 Luffy's adventure will totally be impressive ;D

Greatest Shock: Young Roger and the Strawhat!

Funniest Moment: Sanji nose-bleeding… I only laugh at nose-bleed jokes with Sanji and One Piece. It's just ridiculously funny.

Interesting Piece: I find Zoro very intriguing. He's much lively and kind of into doing things with Luffy! He probably missed him a lot (no yaoi implication intended -_-) but it's this kind of interaction that I expect from him and enjoy. The way he goes with Luffy's whims has always been amusing. But now, he seems so eager and competitive, it's so funny! He must be anxious to show his improvement! I love how he's not his usual train and sleep self. He actually interacts with the crew more... does a whole bunch of things more. I like it!

    • RE: Anime Pacing

      @Markku:

Don't pretend I didn't also mention Gintama (also a weekly anime, with much higher production values than OP and frequently putting out 2 chapters/episode), Hunter x Hunter or Ippo (Anime+OVAs). SE and FMA weren't the only examples.

I'm just saying, if you'll do something, do it right, like the anime I mentioned in my previous post. As a last resort, I'd even prefer months of fillers llike Pierrot does with Naruto/Bleach, but in return decently animated, directed and paced canon arcs. Hell, Bleach lately has been squeezing 3 chapters in each episode (of course it's lolbleach and not much happens in each chapter, but still).

This war arc nearing its halfway point and we still didn't get a single episode that's consistently animated, paced and well-directed in its entirety, like Bleach 270 or Naruto 166/167. Toei every once in a while bothers coming up with a decent scene, but they're few and far bwteen (Luffy vs. Smoker, Whitebeard vs. John Giant, Marco's introduction). Too little, too late.

Those anime stopped at one point … though in HxH the manga also stopped. But the point is... the anime has been closely following the manga.I appreciate the pacing as this prevented the anime from needing a break or from coming up with stupid fillers.

There are some points that well... are downright obvious as buying some time... I do think that they can improve the fillers though to have that quality you are looking forward to. Like I know they have to follow the pacing of the manga, but surely there's a lot of things in the war that Oda wasn't able to convey, they could focus on that.. like extend some fights or scenes of the other characters present there... instead of .... super lots of reactions and flashes to repetitive scenes xD like luffy running... I feel that I only have this issues coz I read the manga though... xD Anyways, there's a lot of things they can cover that might have been more interesting... imo, unless of course Oda had a specific reason not to cover those stuff in the manga.

Except the flashbacks, the pacing is really okay.

I like how the anime covers part that Oda wasn't able to show in the manga. And the filler isn't too bad, the only reason I feel impatient is coz I read the manga and know what's coming. But the pacing is really good 😄
Like crocodile getting his outfit from newkama land… lol! I don't get how buggy got his though ... @_@! but I figured from all the characters in that war, it's hard to show who's who... without their original design... XD

When I've forgotten the manga's pacing, it becomes more fun than usual to watch the anime 😄 Also, the fillers are much appreciated after tolerating some other series's share of fillers... I'm really thankful the fillers are kept at a reasonable level.

I find One Piece's pacing really good. Though the slow motion can get tiring ... well when you are waiting for some really exciting parts that is. xD

    • RE: Chapter 602: "Rudder Straight Down!"

      @Monkey:

Haki is starting to make me dislike OP fans.

I'm pretty sure that since Haki has been explained to us by Oda via Rayleigh Oda will make it very clear to us when Haki is being used. Even when we didn't know haki he let us know something happened.

Shanks with the Sea King, Sky Island mantra, Shanks boarding Whitebeard's ship, Garp punching Luffy and Sanji wondering how it hurt since he was rubber, when Luffy knocked out Motobaro, when Rayleigh saved Caime, Sentomaru/Rayleigh when the Straw Hats were separated, when Luffy fought Hancock's sisters, and Luffy/Coby/Hancock/Shanks during the war. And some I might have left out but it has been very obvious when haki has been used.

Haki has even been obvious to us when it has been used since the timeskip. I just don't understand why people are wanting to assume every little thing is haki. Oda is not a horrible writer like Kubo. He will let us know in some way, shape, or form if haki is being used. He's not going to sneak it in the chapter for it to go unnoticed.

Haha I understand what you feel but I can also understand that Haki is a very interesting new power in One Piece besides Devil Fruits. So, maybe people are just really excited to see the rest of the Strawhats have some degree of Haki as well as that makes the entire crew much cooler or stronger to some extent, perhaps.

I find it already cool if all SH pirates can withstand the CoC. 😄 I do want to see Zoro and Sanji manifest this power as well as it'll make them cooler, imo.

I wonder about if they are complete as well. But that makes me look forward to a new crew member. I wonder what kind of personality and what kind of interaction will it bring into the Strawhats!!

I really can't wait to see this episode animated and hear their voice actors! This was the funniest and enjoyable for me at the moment!

I would love a skypeia kind of arc for the Fishman Island… something that wreaks of pure adventure which was what Sky Island was about! It was truly fun though at times I felt it was boring, when I re-watched it again, there was a tremendous amount of details into the plot, the ideas of the island.. the white-white sea etc. that were simply too brilliant but easily forgotten.

I'm looking forward to that kind of story again! And I can't wait to see the reaction of the world to the news of Strawhats return ~

Naruto before the timeskip rekindled my anime addiction. Bleach turned out interesting too at the start…

Then time passed by... both got worse. Sadly. I still read them as I'm hoping they'd get better.... somehow.... haven't happened yet.

Then One Piece came and I forgot all my frustration and sadness from the two series. I've been promoting One Piece ever since! 😄 I got around 5 people to watch it already... will recommend it to more people 😄

I usually give them the episodes... then one friend that I only meet online, I just gave him a review of why I think it's better than the normal series and he watched it.

The length is usually not an issue as I give them one arc at a time. It's the art style that I find utterly difficult to convince them to get over. Will tell you if I find a way to go over this !! haha

But yeah, I want to see One Piece get famous just as it deserves. More than Naruto and Bleach >_

    • RE: Chapter 602: "Rudder Straight Down!"

All these reunion chapters have been done beautifully, IMO. I find them utterly entertaining and amusing… I realized how much I missed the Strawhat crew!! Oda was really great to remind me that! They are best together and it's what I enjoy in One Piece the most! This chapter was just freaking funny!

Luffy to Franky - WAY FUNNIER that I can ever imagine! LOL! The way Nami was pulling Luffy out of his daze completely predicting his reaction was simply amusing!

I love how Luffy (despite all the hardships he endured) was still humble enough to acknowledge that his request was selfish (even though I feel it was just right) and I like how he feels matured but still the same lovable idiot he is. (His usual naive nature [failing to realize the pure awesomeness of his opportunity to stay at Amazon Lily with Hancock], his nonsense [not recognizing Perona, not understanding Nami's explanation], his bold optimism to his dream) … tears No other shounen character can really compare to him.

      Okay fangirl-ish tendency.. can't help...

Next, I absolutely loooooooooooove Sanji! He's super hilarious! His reactions to Nami and Robin... when I read the spoiler I knew he'd get a nosebleed but Oda's drawing was just simply too funny for my imagination! The way he got that frustrated look... being surrounded by okamas for 2 years... I felt his pain! (even if I'm a girl! lol!)

Sanji to Hancock... laughs out loud I've been wanting to see the crew's reaction to Hancock and I got a tease that was more than enough to satisfy me! Sanji and Brook's reaction (Strawhats pervs) were just too funny! Why even Ussop was charmed with Hancock's beauty! I find it super hilarious how Sanji was accusingly asking Luffy if he REALLY was training for this past 2 years while he was in hell.. haha!!

The hancock-okama wink…. was just priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I laughed soo much! I can't wait to see all this animated!!!!!!!!

I find the marines reaction were just too awesome as a hint to their "threat". How they set up a lot of platoons just to capture them... though they failed horribly still. It's just appropriate, and good thing that no admirals were near the area!!

Lastly, how a lot of people helped Strawhats showed me what will forever separate them from the other pirate crews (I think). Their charm to other people is what the Marines failed to realize (which Mihawk saw). I think it's a trait exemplified by Luffy but has been passed on to most of the Strawhats as shown in this chapter. To me it was a glimpse of how greater their influence can become towards the end of the series and it's just awesome to look forward to it!!!

I'm not sure if this has been brought up, (if it has been brought up, sorry!) but this was something that didn't come immediately from me.

A fan of another manga made a comment on how stupid the Supernova idea was all about. It seems stupid because despite the hype in the story, they can't really compare to the Strawhats. This struck to me and made me realize, I wish Oda-sensei did emphasize what these pirates could have done, even rumors will do.

They don't compare to Luffy's crew who manage to defeat 2 shichibukai, invaded Ennies Lobby, saved a kingdom.. etc. Would have been great if a bit of background on what the rookies activities were about to justify the claim and their status in the story as Luffy's rivals. Perhaps in the way Oda showed Coby and Smoker's growth.. even if these are just glimpses.

Though I also think it's possible that maybe he's reserving those things for the right time. Still looking forward to it though XD

      @Sea:

      Whoa, I am so scarred.
Let's me see, Oda's clairvoyant power was so strong that it affected your dream and sent you the mental images of the future, just like when he foresaw the tsunami in Haiti and represented it with WB attacking the WG.

The last couple of pages of this thread are proof of how far people can over-complicate a children comic book.

Hahaha! That's what you get when adults tend to forget their childhood experiences to enjoy something in a simple manner perhaps?

Somehow this reminded me of Luffy's message discussion, hahaha, where a lot of people claimed it can't be 3D2Y coz the tattoo is just too vague to be seen and understood by the crew @@! But that's far more understandable than some things…

Though however, I've always been impressed with Oda-sensei's ability to incorporate certain themes that a normal child wouldn't normally encounter.. like slavery and such. Maybe its the very reason why adults can still enjoy his story XD

Not only Zoro talk like Mihawk, when he is bored, he act like him and he slice the ship exactly like him =x

I don't see what's exactly wrong about this. The scene was made to remind us of Zoro's training with Mihawk. It was clearly set up to remind us of Mihawk's entrance. I'm not exactly sure what kind of slicing fits your ideal scenario besides slicing it neatly in half?

I doubt we will lose Zoro's character just because of Mihawk's training. So there's no need to be worried and if not, think that scene is just plain funny. He cut it in half coz he got on the wrong boat and the boat was heading to fishman island. Mihawk cut Krieg's ship coz he was bored if I remember it correctly…

Influence most prolly! I loved it though hahaha! His excuse for tearing them down.

I don't think Zoro is being cruel though in cutting that ship in half.. and I think most likely Zoro asked nicely at first, but knowing pirates, they became cocky and tried to kill Zoro… and that's how that ship got cut into slices.

I love how Oda-sensei is not afraid of showing little tease about their new powers unlike a certain other manga's timeskip. cough This is why I really enjoy One Piece ❤

Haha, what if Zoro's closed eye is part of his training? Like it's his way to control his power, so when he opens both eyes, it's his fullest strength or his way of saying I'm getting serious.

Just a thought since we don't know for sure yet if his other eye has really become blind. Though its most likely the case that its now useless lol.

Chapter's awesome and I feel the same about Chopper. Why'd he have to get lost lol… But at least I like how this little reunion seems unpredictable.. as I'm not sure if the SHs will have a confrontation with Sentoumaru... and what's up with Chopper saving that fake robin.. wonder how it will end up...

I like the hint about Luffy's bounty. Hint as of the moment since no wanted poster has been shown yet. But an increase is already pleasant so it doesn't matter if its actually higher than that or not.

Zoro is just way tooo cool.

I don't mind Blackbeard getting 2 DF, it makes him a very worthy rival and deadly enemy. Unlike some hyped villains in other series which turn out … bleh.

However, I don't like the fact how he acquired it. .. Stole off from a dead Whitebeard was just too much >>! If he stole it while he was alive, prolly more acceptable but I suppose it builds some kind of hate for him lol.

I don't mind no one dying but putting up a fake drama just to tell the readers "Let character x live after few chapters!" is a bit cheap. This was exemplified most with Pell's fake death. It was just too pathetic. It's one of the few parts I gladly forget!

Impel Down + Marineford Arc had some of the disappointing moments for me. The super convenient existence of Ivankov who can miraculously "heal" and who happen to be a friend of Luffy's father was a "scratch-head" moment. But he turned out hilarious I guess it's okay.

Mhmm, can't think of any more.

But that said, I love One Piece ❤ the entertainment I get surpasses all these occasional let-downs.

EDIT: The escape on Impel Down is something I'm still undecided whether it's a big disappointment. I believe this should have a really big impact on the world. Those are criminals imprisoned for their ruthless actions... it's really something serious imo so if it just becomes forgotten after that arc, it makes it too lame. It makes it really selfish of Luffy and co then to set free those people just because it will make their escape convenient without thinking of the repercussions to the world.

I wonder.. anyone here feels the Strawhat Pirates is complete already? Or not? Like what convinces you that they aren't yet and that there yet to be seen crew mates?

I sometimes wonder if they are complete, but I sure WANT another crew mate to join them in New World. And without counting Hancock and Perona, I do believe it's going to be a normal human female character.

I can't understand Japanese so I'm not sure where Oda actually mentioned the family roles of Strawhats where he named Robin to be mother and Nami as daughter. Unless someone can clarify this, I found myself wondering why Oda made it so vague to put Nami's position in the family. So, this fed my desire to have a new female members where Nami will serve as eldest daughter and the other will be youngest daughter in the Strawhat family.

You know, I've enjoyed all of the One Piece arcs, but I have to say the war was my least favorite. Don't know why, didn't hate it or anything, just I liked all the other ones better.

Maybe because Luffy didn't have his usual crew? 👅 The Marineford + ID arc will always stand out because of that I think. The only point in time where Luffy was not with his crew. I daresay I'm impressed with how Oda-sensei handled it. Without his usual bunch of characters he made a very interesting arc. It's not so easy to deal with XXXX amount of characters and use them at the right time.

I wonder how this kind of arc (where your usual main characters aren't there) would be handled by say.. Kishimoto-san or Kubo-san XD …. but then again they are good at introducing interesting but useless characters to the story.. it's rather sad.

Yeah. He is quite possibly the most developed long-range fighter of Strawhats… and just to point out I never said he was useless 👅

But non-combat situations... I think Nami and Chopper wins that category.

But it's what I like about One Piece, all characters have their importance... and is not to be left out...

Maybe this might also be the reason why Oda is not introducing new nakama anytime soon... it increases his load. Haha! Everytime there's a new nakama...means he must think of the interactions among them... so, each reaction and dialogue.. that's more work though.

Why couldn't he remain weaker than them? Oda clearly considered them to be stronger than him Pre-timeskip and as long as they keep progressing with the rest of the crew Usopp can still evolve into a great fighter.

Mhm, I think in terms of strength, he will always be weakest. But it doesn't mean he'll be most useless Strawhat. His weapons and his aim skills will be enough to suffice that and with his intelligence he will be one of the important people giving enough (ranged) offensive capability to the team.

I like the idea that Akainu becomes Fleet admiral, coz of the tension he'll bring. It fairly seems logical that his bounty will increase as his REAL threat was just exemplified with all his actions from past arcs.

However, along with the pattern that his bounty seems to increase 3x, I also noticed his bounty increases on arcs where he is saving or helping a female char….

i.e. Nami = 30 mill, Vivi = 100 mill, Robin = 300 mill .... so unless we get a new female to be Nakama memeber (Vivi is considered a nakama after all that just stayed behind) .... there shouldn't be any increase.... quite possibly...

Someone mentioned about Tenryubito which I agree, I want to see a good one for a change.

I also want to know more about the Devil's Fruit's history and Vegapunk … maybe even Franky meeting him personally.

I want to see Sanji in Amazon Lily and go crazy with all the women in there! This includes to Hancock meeting the entire crew... her reaction to Nami hitting Luffy, Robin, Chopper ... and everyone.. Sanji and Brook being pervs.. xD

I want to see how the 3 remaining Yonkous are living as Emeperors in the New World... like their influence on the pirates and islands there... territories and stuff...

I want to see Luffy and Shanks meeting finally.

I actually want at some point Luffy to be captured by the marines and it's him who needs saving for a change... lol. And that it's a whole bunch of pirates who will come save him ... led of course by his crew.... (but maybe this is fit for a fanfiction.. lol)

I want Akainu dead. lol 😧 ... a very tragic death 😧 I hate his character 😧 so sinister..

I agree with the actual Pirates on sea fights and bounty hunters being another element to the story.
