what i think was the main problem with this arc is the general lack of pathos and sense of real danger in the top fights.
zoro was showed dealing easily with his opponent, even mocking him.
luffy was helped since the beginning and dofla although portrayed as incredibly powerful never seemed to put luffy at the corner, it was luffy who on the contrary landed the most effective attacks, at least from a visual point of view.
law was the most enjoyable played to me, and still oda ruined some pathos making him "resurrect" over and over.

RE: Chapter 786 : Gatz
so dofla will be somehow impeded to attack luffy, and we already know that luffy will manage to recover
do you think this is what will happen? isn't it too much predictable and diminish the pathos of the fight?
i want dofla to be fearsome and land some heavy attack, not just watch and defend like he's been doing for most of the fight in the last chapters -
RE: Chapter 786 : Gatz
in the end, luffy at the moment is not able to defeat someone on dofla's level 1vs1. he first needed the help of law with his gamma knife, then someone else to gain time.
-
RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
I was wondering… Is it possible that burgess is waiting for the fight to end, to that he can eventually kill the one defeated and gain the gum/string fruit reborn?
-
RE: Chapter 785: Even if my legs were broken…
are you not annoyed by doflamingo not doing anything to luffy? i mean luffy attacks and gives punches and blows, doflamingo is there watching and taking all the attacks and flying and thinking and… not a single attack did a scratch to luffy in the last chapters. it's really underwhelming, and also i cannot see how a man in that situation could still laugh and ridicule the opponent who's obviously giving him a hard time.
not liking at all how oda is portraying dofla -
RE: Chapter 782: Evil`s Charisma
law as powerful as whitebeard, he's unstoppable and will never even faint… the officers fell one by one easily and were portrayed like a bunch of arrogant and almost stupid people.
even dofla the great mind seems to be understimating everything...dressrosa started like an awesome saga but is getting more and more underwhelming.
-
RE: Chapter 782: Evil`s Charisma
so trebol got defeated by an arm? cmon oda why did you hype the officers and then made them fall like fools?
-
RE: Chapter 779: "Final Fight"
I expect Luffy to say no to being healed by Masherry and Bellamy being the one that will get healed instead of him after Luffy asks princess for it.
i hope so, it would be boring to see law healed and brand new
-
RE: Chapter 779: "Final Fight"
it would be nice if mensherry would heal luffy after the fight with dofla and not law as most of us anticipate
-
RE: Chapter 778: Tactics No.5
This fight with Pica was a joke. Pica is probably the strongest among dofla's commanders and still he did not manage to even touch zoro? the whole fight was underwhelming and there was no pathos at all. It was like zoro was on another league and his only problem was to corner pica's body. the top officers where introduced as incredibly powerful but here's pica not even giving a scratch on zoro's body…

RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
sabo's face is just like it is in the manga-anime
zoro's instead… that's not his face!

RE: Chapter 774: Tontatta Warrior Chief, Leo
@Galaxy:
It would've completely ruined the efforts of those involved in their defeats, so not really.
exactly, and that would be a "nice" shock for us, something completely unexpected.
and i'm not liking how the top officers are doing absolutely nothing. one has been talking since appearing at the colosseum, another has been playing around in the city causing not a single scratch to his opponent, the third is just enjoying his boss… -
RE: Chapter 774: Tontatta Warrior Chief, Leo
am i the only one here thinking that having the executives healed and be able to do something more would have been a twist much more intriguing?
-
RE: One Piece Chapter 766: Smile
I agree that the letter is a weak plot device. He's a spy, writing a letter with important infos and giving it to a generic marine? Stupid at least.

RE: One Piece 764 Ita by Verba Team
lo so ma le scan inglesi hanno sbagliato, per questo l'ho segnalato per poterlo correggere al prossimo.
pensavo faceste anche un check veloce dal giapponese però :S -
RE: One Piece 764 Ita by Verba Team
a pagina 11 doflamingo parla di Tsuru (viceammiraglio) che li ha trovati, non genericamente "quelli". infatti la nave ha i suoi kanji

RE: Chapter 762: The White Town
don't see anything bad about lao g being very different from when he was younger. it's not like every person ages the same, he's 70 and it's ok he looks old, not everybody has to be extremely fit in their 70 like other characters, just like in real life. and don't forget that this may be a specific way of portraing dofla's crew, as others like machvise jora and senor pink also got fat and unfit
-
RE: Chapter 754: Please to make your acquaintance
two things i don't like about this chapter
kanjuro's ability of making drawings animate is something we have seen and reseen in mangas
zoro making fun of pica and handling him like nothing… and he's the strongest official -
RE: Chapter 751: "Sabo vs Admiral Fujitora"
Not really unless you only remember the war .
oda has shown admirals only a couple of times war aside. kizaru was at sabaodi but he kicked some rookies ass. fujitora is on dressrosa gambling, watching the corrida colosseum, chatting with marines-doflamingo, letting law-strawhats escape, eating, talking a lot. so he has been shown a lot but has done almost nothing, and i find that annoying since he's an admiral sent to deal with law and strawhats.
-
RE: Chapter 751: "Sabo vs Admiral Fujitora"
i agree that fujitora has been doing nothing so far. mostly talking, watching… other admirals would have done their job
-
RE: Chapter 749: Rascals attack!
because the words for younger and older brother are different?
-
RE: One Piece Chapter 745: Birdcage
i dont understand who on the island is supposed to kill luffy and the others that dofla wants dead. why just not kill them by yourself?
-
RE: One Piece Chapter 744 - Revolutionary Army Chief Advisor
body thief? who thought this nonsense? oda showed him as a kid and a teenager.
-
RE: One Piece Chapter 743 - Turbulent Dressrosa
Dofla isn't dead , Law saved him , but now he will use him for something , its obvious
problem is that kyros had no way to damage dofla, let alone killing him. dofla needed no help at all against such a weaker guy. so, if it's law who "decapitated" him, why did he do that?

RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
i guess we'll get a moustache colosseum luffy then, he'll be extremely popular
-
RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
I understand they made rebecca. but law… come on mh, he's getting more sculpts then the strawhats! he looks nice but they already made his ts version!
-
RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
very boring kaku and momo
bellamy… not needed
marco is a stupid choice, we already have a very good sculpt of him
cav and barto are ok -
RE: Chapter 728: "Number of Tragedies"
the chance of the little girl being the toy fruit user is getting higher now that she's confirmed having the same appearance 10 years ago

lucci is good and doesn't need anything else imho
-
RE: General 'Haki' Discussion
it sounds weird that ace, one of the most powerful pirates in one piece, had no haki training. it would've put him at great disadvantage in the new world, were most of the strong guys has haki. sure, oda didn't show any haki, but that's almost the same for everybody else until the sabaody saga. i would call it a change in oda's overll haki picture more than proof that ace didn't had haki.

RE: Chapter 714: "Lucy and Ucy"
is jump releasing colored chapters now or was this just an experiment?
-
RE: Chapter 713 : "Usoland"
You'll notice how none of the VA's have DF abilities
tsuru, onigumo, dalmatian, smoker?
-
RE: Chapter 713 : "Usoland"
The meteor WOULDN'T hurt Fuji if it was his devilfruit so why the need to defend against it?
My guess is it's something like your personal Akainu bustercall. Did Vegapunk duplicate his power or something else , I don't know.
What? it's not like he's a meteor guy, he's got gravity control or something

RE: One Piece 711: Adventures in the land of the Dwarfs
@CCC:
小人 is literally "small person." That's all. They're clearly Lilliputians from Gulliver's Travels, but he couldn't very well use that word because it's specific to that fictional canon. Dwarf and gnome are both reasonable translations.
then i don't think dwarf is the best translation, since they are like gnomes or similar small people of the fairy tales. people have a different idea of a dwarf.

all wb captains? WOW that's really nice, long time since i was last impressed by wcf. totally buying them.
bike aokiji looks cool as well. -
RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
i agree lucci is very nice but not perfect, since the true leopard lucci is more robust with broad shoulderd and big chest. this one is more "leopard-like" than the true one. anyway nothing too much important to complain about.
-
RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
mihawk looks so good, but did we need him? i think there are other chars that should be made, his old figure is good after all.
leopard lucci is very interesting, i guess he'll be rather expensive thou.
vivi… meh, i don't care about her.
sengoku? a chance missed. we really needed him, but not with this boring pose, the very same the banpresto one has. why not a buddha version instead?
aokiji is ok, as luffy. about zoro... i will speak after i see him colored and complete, he looks nice but i'm not fully sure about him. -
RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
i doubt we'll see a post ts jimbe since he sold so bad
-
RE: Chapter 709: King Punch
No what that means is that old age really got to him.
well we have seen many old characters so far, and they are still very strong even if they're weaker then in the past.
-
RE: Chapter 709: King Punch
the fact that ricky was defeated rather easily, although being old, means he was no "great fighter" in his prime. so if he's kyros, he must not have been anything special for the new world standard.
-
RE: One Piece 708: Colosseum full of rascals
talking about garp, i'm really curious to see how the marines replaced him and sengoku, they were two of the strongest fighters in the world, how did they find good substitutes?
-
RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
that vergo glm is a real waste. boring standing pose, no haki no bamboo stick…
-
RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
sanji's pose… they'll never end doing this shitty innatural poses with legs forward and body backward. this is one of the worst i think.
shiki is pretty and all, a pity he's not normal size and regular price. -
RE: One Piece 707: B Block
Being italian maybe i can give you my point of view about this greco-roman debate.
i don't think oda is trying to underline specific greek or roman features in this dressrosa arc, this is more like the mediterranean stage with ancient times references, which are obviously typical of mediterranean peoples. Sure, colosseum and gladiator are roman just like kyros and spartan are greek, but i don't see anything implying a will by oda to "distinguish" the two, they're just for the sake of the plot so no need to overthink about it :D we'll probably keep on seeing both roman and greek terms.
About the difficulty to tell greek and roman features apart, we all know that romans were highly influenced by greek culture since the second part of the republican era, and it's true that some things are just "classic traits", but probably because i'm italian and i did classical studies i can distinguish roman from greek peculiarities, and i understand that general people from around the world can't. But i guess there is no way for you to do that, you have to know the cultures to be able to do that :D -
RE: One Piece 704: Lucy and the Statue of Kyros
one thing i dont like so much is how girls in op look so similar, especially the ones that are of any relevance to the plot.
most are tall, thin, booby and have good features. while we meet men of all kinds -
RE: One Piece 703: Waiting Room
i doubt zoro or sanji will eat the fruit, they would become too much powerful imho
-
RE: One Piece Collectibles v.10 Main Discussion - "Final Product ≠ Promo Pics"
when is the next POP exhibition? any chance of seeing a new prototipe?
