this is without doubt one of the worst covers Oda has created. not a single thing seems in the right place and the overall effect is meh

One thing I don't see as "realistic" is that none of the main fighters have suffered critical damage.
Agains Katakuri, Luffy was pierced with a spear. Kidd lost an arm against Shanks. Jozu, Kuzan, Sakazuki etc all lost limbs or have large scars after the very big fights.
And now we have Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Law and Kidd all fighting monsters and they're just exausted, that's it…
Based on past situations Oda showed, they should not be able to win these fights without a clear lasting damage on their body, not all of them at least.

1001 is way better than 1000, this chapter should have been anticipated…

if Luffy does, he will be considered the strongest in the world. to me that seems a bit too much at the moment.

another thing i don't get is why their skin is, most of the time, pink without a different shade.
people coming from everywhere in the world and still how many human chars have we seen with tan, black or so skin?
is this something oda has ever talked about?

i know hair color is important in anime and manga and helps identify chars, what i don't like is how ALL crew/group in the last years had this variety of colors.
just a bit too much, considering how oda has kept on adding dozens of chars every saga

i don't get why oda is obsessed with groups having different colors.
how can every group have yellow, red, blue, purple, green hair, clothes etc?

I would still buy figures if prices were affordable like 10 years ago. I can't spend 250 euros for one figure, I remember 10 years ago POPs cost around 70-80 euros, with the single big shot like whitebeard that cost me some 100+. Smaller figures like Banpresto and Bandai are usually boring.

Some unofficial figures are amazing and they make every character, but are extremely expensive as well.

amazing how this topic, at the peak, reached 500 pages in 3 months about 10 years ago.
now we are 5 years into this v11 with a couple posts per month

I don't understand how can zoro or sanji defeat single handedly king or queen. Luffy a few days ago hardly managed to deal with katakuri, and now zoro should do the same? that would mean that luffy and zoro are about the same level, and we know they aren't. so I think the calamities will be defeated only with a team work, just like luffy and kaido. luffy just can't defeat kaido alone right now, it's nonsense.

Zoro and Sanji to get 1b+ bounties? Too much for me.

looking at the old covers, i think the pre timeskip ones are the best color-wise.
now oda puts too many colors in one cover and they don't match either

terrible colors. gold roger is a mess with yellow, orange, red and pink

i don't like the cover. first, too many chars. second, why luffy in front? he ruins the scene. third, why no scopper gaban but teach?

do you think the traitor can be denjiro? or even Toki?

I think one issue with the map is the scale of the islands which is wrong, the grand line islands cannot be that large otherwise the world would be just a few hundred kilometers

Just wondering, since it's obvious that King and Queen are the best commanders in Kaidou's crew and that means 1B+ bounty, is Oda telling us that Jack's bounty was so high just because of his recklessness and danger and not particularly his power? I mean, we have to assume that yonkou's crews are more or less similar in power otherwise one would sooner or later defeat the other. since Big Mom has only Katakuri with a 1B bounty with Smoothie a bit less and Snack way less, does that mean that the marines and govt think Kaidou's top fighters are more dangerous than Big Mom's?

have you noticed that there is no sign on luffys belly of the heavy wound katakuri caused? he got a spear throu but it's like nothing happened now

i agree that one of the weird things about one piece is that everything happens in weeks, not some years, and that sounds awkward with great pirates being there for decades and still unable to achieve 10% of what the crew did. oda could have easily make skips between arcs.

The thing that left me a bit unsatisfied is that, as others said, luffy took punches for hours while katakuri was waaaay less beaten when they started the final phase of the fight and were "even". So it seems unrealistic that with that last blow katakuri fell and luffy could still stand after a few minutes.

i was thinking that since mama starts losing weight and probably strenght after a few hours without eating, does this mean that she would always lose in a 1vs1 fight against another yonko, imagining that would last several hours?

what I find difficult to understand is this "monster" thing, BM pirates and even charlotte family has several weirdos and ugly looking people, why would anyone treat him like a monster?

this was one of the worst chapters in the last years.
It's incredible how oda is giving everything he can to show how incompetent or just inoffensive big moms members are. katakuri, who is portrayed as very scrupulous, waits there doing nothing while chopper and brook fight… what's the sense of this? of course pure plot convenience.
also pudding is more and more annoying, her character is not interesting at all. and the whole idea of baking a cake at the same time when mom is rampaging is absurd.

carrot would be a boring crewmate. half chopper cuteness half nami sexiness… she would add little to the complexity of the strawhats imo

there is something i dont understand about bege's plan. how was he thinking of defeating big mom by himself? he is now allied with jinbe-strawhats, but obviously he already had everything set up for his crew to attack during the tea party. so what was his plan? persuading other members of big moms crew or powers present at the ceremony maybe?

I hate that things for the strawhats are so easy. All their opponents are conveniently unaware of their whereabouts, thou the castle is full of guards and homies…

I didn't like how dressrosa was developed. Doflamingo and his crew was very hyped and in the end all of them fell like nothing. Dofla himself was not able to give Luffy physical damage, and was first showed being aware of luffy's potential power, then in the actual fight he called him brat and gave him little credit.

The problem with Oda is that sometimes for plot reasons he makes strong and experienced characters like Jack do stupid things. We know the new world is extremely dangerous and you can't trust anything or anyone, still strong people keep acting in a foolish way.

it is really interesting that such an extremely powerful trio like issho, sengoku and tsuru could not capture jack. we know that issho and sengoku are two of the most powerful marines. so in the end are marines less powerful than the top pirates? from marineford we saw that the most powerful pirate can beat the most powerful admiral. for sure on average an admiral alone should be on par with the second in command of a yonko like marco against kizaru. why issho and sengoku together could not capture jack? oda did not mention any other top fighter in his crew so…

Do you people think that Sanji would we able to win or tie a fight against both Pekoms and Capone?

No, the manga shows that luffy did not manage to defeat dofla with his attack, and was powerless at his mercy, since dofla was still standing while luffy was down. Only the help of others overturned the obvious result, and luffy could recover and then attack dofla again.

The evidence is all there. Doula never hurt Luffy when he was in Gear 4th.

Luffy also had damage from the fighting he had before, but no one ever brings that up.

And the fact that Doula Mongo could still move around at incredibly speeds even after repairing said organs should be evidence that it didn't give that much disadvantage.

I agree with the first sentence, this was a clear problem with me, dofla was showed extremely powerful but during the fight he hardly landed any major attack on luffy. Oda screwed that up imho.

About the second, yes luffy had minor damage, minor bruises compared to dofla spitting blood

He repaired his organs, and as such avoided the consequences of destroyed organs. Thus, you're overblowing its effects. Doula didn't lose any fighting prowess because of his damaged organs.

how can you say that? there is no evidence that dofla just took that attack like nothing and repaired his organs so that he would be at top level again. he was clearly injured and, although being able to fully sustain the damage, he started his fight with luffy at a disadvantage. it's not like he was suffering terribly, but the damage was clearly there.

to me it looked like luffy would lose in a 1v1 combat. remember that dofla was heavily injured by law.

am i the only one not liking sicilian? he's very cliche and a blantant copy of a musketeer. i like oda when he makes references to real world peoples or costumes, but this time it looked pretty boring to me

i agree that dofla was supposed to be smarter in combat, he mainly seemed to wait for luffy to attack and his moves were not up to what we had seen before. he never had the upper hand on luffy, while he did the opposite against law.

imho oda made the fight a bit easy from a strategic point of view.

the many supporting characters were there just to set up the future allies of the strawhats

most disappointing was rebecca. i don't understand why oda made her so irritating

what i think was the main problem with this arc is the general lack of pathos and sense of real danger in the top fights.
zoro was showed dealing easily with his opponent, even mocking him.
luffy was helped since the beginning and dofla although portrayed as incredibly powerful never seemed to put luffy at the corner, it was luffy who on the contrary landed the most effective attacks, at least from a visual point of view.
law was the most enjoyable played to me, and still oda ruined some pathos making him "resurrect" over and over.
