I only regularly collect five series right now (one Marvel, four DC), but I'll probably pick up at least seven or eight #0s this month. It'll be kind of weird to have two totally different Batwoman #0s, though (I have the #0 that landed about 18 months ago).

      That new trailer looks stellar.

I just saw Superman vs. The Elite a few days ago and it was good… but the weird art style kinda turned me off. Superman's jaw and torso were so huge that he looked obese at times. Best part was the totally nuts opening credit sequence and the final battle.

I hated Revelations: Persona when I rented it over a decade ago. Never got very far.

I thought Persona 2: Eternal Punishment was okay when I bought it on a whim for $15 several years ago. Never got very far.

I received Persona 3 FES as a gift recently, and holy shit I can't stop playing it. Around sixty hours in.

      Persona 4's in the mail.

      I found it interesting that…

! The Light decided to ditch Ocean-Master for Black Manta so quickly and without foreshadowing. Ocean-Master only had a speaking role in one episode, and that was in Aquaman and Mera's court before he was outed as a villain (if he was ever outed as a villain?). My guess is that the writers decided to go forward with an Aquaman vs. Black Manta storyline instead of an Aquaman vs. Ocean-Master storyline, but they didn't do it in the smoothest manner. I hope that Ocean-Master comes up in a future episode, because I've always liked DC's version of Atlantis, but I doubt it'll happen.

I read a preview for Salvaged (episode coming in two weeks) and I have to wonder which member of the team they're referring to. My guess is KF, but it could be Aqualad. Go ahead an look it up to see what I'm referring to, or don't if you want to avoid spoilers.

    • RE: Kuroko no Basket

(more threadcromancy) The basketball is still as silly as ever, with half-court shots and ridic passes. I don't mind, though; not every basketball manga can be as good or as realistic as Slam Dunk. Manga is still pretty good; in the recent English scans they're playing Aomine's team in the first round of the national tournament, and Kuroko unleashes an Ultimate Technique that's as fucking silly as ever. We haven't seen much action out of Seirin's players since the end of the training arc other than Kuroko, Kagami, and Hyuga. Due to recent revelations, I'm pretty sure the manga's going to end at the conclusion of the tournament.

It's late, I'm getting less drunk by the second, and I can't sleep. Time for a random character guide! Here's what we know about the Generation of Miracles:

      Generation of Miracles

Kuroko (indigo hair, shadow motifs) - G/F, skilled passer, lack of presence
Kise (yellow hair) - SF, great athleticism, copycat that can mimic the techniques of any player other than Kuroko
Midorima (green hair) - SG, incredible hang time and accuracy on his shot
Aomine (blue hair) - PF, ridiculous speed, power, reflexes, and explosiveness, insane scoring ability from short and medium range
Murasakibara (purple hair) - C, tallest player in Japan, skilled shot blocker and post player
Akashi (red hair) - PG, undisputed leader of Generation of Miracles, abilities unknown

There's also a second group of elite players, five second-years called the Uncrowned Kings, who would've been stars in middle school but were overshadowed by the Miracles. We've only met two of them. Plenty of hoops action yet to be revealed!

I own this for iPhone. It's like a weird hipster adventure game / RPG that no-one really asked for, but a lot of people enjoyed. Soundtrack is absolutely killer. My favorite is pretty early in the game:

I really liked S&S EXCEPT for the one part of the mid-game where you have to wait 14 days in real time between two quests (basically you have to wait for the moon to change between full and none). If you change the date on your device manually then the game only gives you a 99% complete.

No, Athena died at the end of God of War 2. Apollo, Artemis, Demeter, Dionysus, and Hestia (lol Hestia) should still be around, though. Plus several less-important demigods and heroes - most notable hero left alive is Odysseus, and there is one Gorgon left to kill.

But I'm with most of the other people here. I would rather they introduce a new main character and/or a new plot framework. Bottom line: make sure this game has a reason to exist.

Well, it looks like each episode is designed to cast suspicion and doubt on each major cast member before the mole is revealed. Artemis this episode, Superboy last episode, Miss Martian two weeks ago. Confirming a lot of the sorta-obvious foreshadowing about those three as well. Hopefully Rocket joins the cast soon - I've always liked Rocket, Icon, and Static.

    • RE: Dragon Age 2

Dragon Age II had some very nice things in place, like its skill system, most of the combat, and the party banter. The party didn't get enough individual face time with Hawke, though, making them seem shallower than their Origins counterparts. Less forgiveable was the recycling of every environment in the game and the lack of equipment customization for your party. The game's last few quests were action-packed and have serious implications for the rest of the Dragon Age world, but it doesn't redeem the entire game. Dragon Age II is a mixed bag, and not nearly as good as its predecessor.

Still, with all that said, I hope they give us at least one more DLC quest (just to add something NEW) in the next 6 months to tie into DA III, and hopefully a DA III teaser around PAX East or E3. I didn't hate Dragon Age II as much as others seemed to, and I think that BioWare will deliver us a better product for the third installment.

People are complaining because it's not a re-skinned Diablo II. But they will play it and probably love it. I thought the beta was awesome. I'm hitting my upper limit on gaming budget for the first half of 2012 (blame Mass Effect and Tales of Graces) so I'll wait until a few patches land on it at the very least. I'm definitely itching to try it, but Blizzard doesn't need one extra sale on day one and I have plenty of other games to play in the meantime.

      @Buuhan1:

Also the whole GameStop guarantee is often times bullshit and they don't touch the thing. Someone on another forum stated they bought a used PS3 from GS and it had the old users account, games, PSN wallet, and credit card info on it. Now that's a mistake by the old user but also GS. You know they just bought that, boxed it, then put it out there. It is really infuriating when they charge a refurbish fee only for them not to do any actual refurbishment.

GameStop is extremely shaddy, yet I keep shopping there…

When my best friend bought a PS3, it was wiped clean like it's supposed to be, but its previous owner had cheated/hacked and was eventually banned from the PSN for an unknown reason. Sony had its MAC address banned. The GameStop employees just made sure that the system could turn on and that a game would load onto it, but never took it online. My friend got it returned for a full refund and bought a different refurbished PS3, but there ya go. Fuckin' GameStop.

All characters could use any of the weapons in the first game but not specializing in said weapons made them less useful.

True, but the max bonus from specialization is only 20%. I still used Sniper Rifles and Assault Rifles using any class (once I could afford the Spectre VIIs), since they were always better than pistols even with the skill maxed. You shouldn't treat it like a serious limitation.

I'm still pretty early in ME3, but so far I think it's an absolutely awesome experience. Again, I don't know anything about the ending everyone hates and I haven't touched the MP yet, but I'll see what all the fuss is about before March is over.

Earlier this year I identified twelve games from my backlog I wanted to beat. I just finished the second of them a few days ago. These won't be the only games I play, but I just want to knock them out. I mean, hell, the game I've played the most this year, Mass Effect 2, wasn't on the list.

      2012 Targets
      Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana
      Demon's Souls
      Final Fantasy XII
      Grandia II
      Mass Effect

      Okami
      Persona 3
      Red Dead Redemption
      Rogue Galaxy
      Valkyria Chronicles
      Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
      Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

      2012 Purchases
Mass Effect 2 (bought almost immediately after I finished Mass Effect)
Mass Effect 3 (preordered almost immediately after I finished Mass Effect 2)
      Tales of Graces F
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
      Torchlight II
On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode Three

      Targets completed: 2/12
      Purchases completed: 1/6

I keep a blog recording the games I've beaten every year. Writing about them motivates me to actually finish them, which I've had problems doing in the past. And this is definitely not my entire backlog. Just my 2012 goal.

I don't really care about the demo. I know I'm buying this game regardless, and demos are never as solid or as polished as the finished product - some companies contract their demos out to other studios since building a demo takes away from time to work on the actual game. I only try a demo if I'm clueless+curious about a game and want to know what it's generally about.

The DLC that comes with Ultimate Edition only adds one party member, but it's one of my favorite party members. The rest of the DLC is a mixed bag: Warden's Keep gets you the strongest sword in the game, Return to Ostagar gets you a good armor set, and Awakening is an expansion pack that's actually worth playing. The rest of the DLC isn't really worth it.

If you haven't begun a quest line yet, I recommend doing the Mages' Tower first (you get a lot of bonus stat points and a mage party member) followed by Honnleath (the DLC party member). With that you'll have a great selection of characters to choose from. Orzammar + The Anvil gets you another 2H warrior party member that's a little better than Sten, but the mage and the DLC char are better. Brecilian Forest and Redcliffe + The Urn let you unlock some pretty good mage and warrior specializations, but other than that they aren't that special in terms of party members or gear.
