Another theory by me: Shanks like WB has no interest in becoming pirate king. Why do I think this? Well as a member of Gol D. Roger's crew, he would most likely have been to Raftel already (unless Gol D Roger went the last leg by himself or only with people like Rayleigh). Thus he should know his way through the grand line, and any trick necessary to get there (Unless it isn't on Raftel). As a Yonkou, he surely has the strength to go, yet he seems content to partying and traveling around the world, even exiting the grand line at times such as when he met Luffy. SO I'm guessing he has some reason not to want One Piece, or he used to want it himself, bur decided to root for Lufy instead

My guess is that the only thing Shanks wants is to party.

I think chopper will fight him. Chopper has that ultimate uber big reindeer form (can't remember the name). Which I think would fit in a battle against Sanjuan. Big guy vs. big guy. Unless a giant joins the SH's which could happen I guess.

Morgan will be back, his story isn't finished. And i think he is an interesting character.

It would be nice to see Gin again, and i'm quite sure that he will be seen again. He said he wanted to see the SH's in the grand line. I just hope that he won't be with Don Krieg when he reappears, gosh i hate him :/.

Johhny and Yosaku , same story as Gin really.

There are also a few other characters that should come back:

-Pell : if he doesn't get a reasonable role somewhere in the future his survival would just be dumb and unnessecary.

-Gaimon…why not xD. And Oda likes him alot, but i think he'll only come back in a flashback or something. He could also be picked up and taken to the NW by a pirate that visits the island, hell Gin or some1 could very well do that.

-Yorki : i know he's dead and even if he lives he'll be quite old. But he's just a far too interesting character to leave alone

IF one of these characters reappears (except maybe for Yorki), a powerup is given. Gin would be NW-fodder level and Johhny and Yosaku would be even less if they are even near the level they were when we last saw them.

Well yeah it only makes sense it wasn't 20 years later or in the NW or something like that. I'm just saying that Oda didn't have a specific time in is head when he wrote the story.

i just don't see jimbei as being the prime teacher. We have both Rayliegh and HANCOCK with luffy right now.

We KNOW that Hancock has the same haki as Luffy, and also the entire island knows haki and trains their warriors. they are experts and perfect to train in haki, which seems most logical thing to learn for luffy.

Rayleigh we KNOW also has haki, though not what kind. He is also the old man typical teacher that people get in manga. He is retired as well.

Meanwhile jimbei we have no idea if he knows haki, and two is he willing to stay around for 2 years when god knows what else is going on in the world and nameyl fishman island. And besides when you have both rayleigh and hancock there, jimbei seems unneeded. Plus jimbei's main fighting and technique is IN THE WATER.

Fair enuf, but i still think Jinbei will stay for teh lulz xD (he seems like such a cool fellow to hang with).
But like some1 said earlier, they will meet in FI, which is the most important.

While Strong World is canon, I don't think even Oda knows when it took place.

Yeah, I think so too. Having Jinbei remain with Luffy for more than a few months when he could be checking on Fishman Island seems a little odd to me. If he stays, I won't be surprised, but that's because we don't know much about him yet and Oda can always give a good reason for him staying. Either way, he'll be present at Fishman Island, which is important. If we see him take off in a few chapters right before the skip, then I would say that only increases his chances of joining.

The least Jinbei could do is help Luffy train. Which he will I think.

Coby will be atleast vice admiral level atfer the timeskip. Helmeppo will also be stronger, but not as much as Coby.

Not really in favor of a time skip due to the typical problems you'd face. The most obvious being the utter tangled slinky of a plot/direction left from such a vast time period being void, especially when applied to 10+ characters.

Its probably best to slow the pace down for a while and begin to make sense of the full impact of the war, its overall effect on the balance of powers and perhaps then a sneak preview at the Governments replacements in both the marines and shichibukai.

Either way I doubt Oda will skip anything, not due to him being incapable, but due to the option being unnecessary at this point in time.

He actually is slowing down imo. If he would timeskip right now it wouldn't fit, give it some more chapters. Either way it's coming.

And i do hope you're joking bout the Zoro part , he wouldn't even want to learn anything from Mihawk, and i don't think Mihawk is the 'sensei' type. Zoro will get stronger from the mandrills. Now that I think bout it, it might be possible the mandrills imitate some of Mihawk's attacks, and thus Zoro would indirectly learn from Mihawk.

I wouldn't call it convoluted. He somehow found out how to get multiple DF's, and he found out about some of the most powerful DF's and eventuallt got them. He needed a bigger crew, so he became sichibukai to get access to ID and break out some lvl 6 pirates.

His next goal is probably a bigger ship or something and eventually Raftel/one piece. Simple as that.

If Jinbei or Hancock joins the crew it'll be pretty much a given that they will conquer shit.
With Jinbei he can destroy an army of ships with ease. Can Luffy do that? Sure he can, maybe.
But could he do it as quickly and as effortlessly as Jinbei? I highly doubt that at this point.
Hence your putting someone who has already established himself in the era which would be trump card for making Luffy the pirate king. He's simply to strong and to famous to join the crew.

If Hancock joins you know all those pirates running at you with swords and shit? Send Hancock! and she'll turn them all to stone, replacing the need to see the whole crew in action. Which is stupid.... not to mention her powerful developed Haki powers which is again a trump card.

And I don't see Hancock joining either. But your point about sending Hancock against the fodder…what if most of the New World 'fodder' is actually strong enough to negate her DF ,Momonga style. I know it's a big 'what if' but still.

I do think Hancock will travel to the NW looking for Luffy, because i don't see her wanting to leave Luffy except if Luffy does something she detests.

Why? I think it's strange she has been captured (by an Admiral no less) so soon, and I doubt she will just disappear from the story or that we will get a rescue arc for her, so the best way for her to be kept in the story is for her to become shichibukai.

Which is true, but you have to keep in mind that Moria isn't in his top shape anymore. Besides i doubt Sanji or Zoro would win against Moria. I even doubt Hancock could win against Moria. And i'm also quite sure Boa will lose her sichibukai status… but yeah there's no way to be sure of all this since we haven't seen a Sanji/Zoro/Hancock fight against Moria.

I think it would be cool if we saw a totally lame DF that has almost zero combat value. Like a zoan type that turns the user into a…little kitten or something.

Jinbei will probably join with Luffy untill Fishman Island.

And for people saying that Zoro/Sanji after their powersups won't be as strong as Hancock/jinbei, I can agree with Jinbei since he's really strong. But Hancock… nah, i'm quite sure Sanji/Zoro will be stronger than her if they learn haki or get powerups. Sanji's bounty is only slightly less than Hancock's and Zoro's bounty is waaaay higher (I know that this doesn't say much tho).

I was wondering, how old is Luffy exactly? Like 17 and x months and y days.
If some1 would know this we could use basic math to figure out how long the timeskip will at least be, since this was Luffy's last adventure as a 18 year old…
But i doubt any1 knows the exact time

edit: i just read that the birthdays were chosen by fans or something like that so age probably doesn't have any meaning here .

The one piece world isn't black and white. I think Oda portrayed the WG quite realistically if you compare it to the goverments of almost every country on earth.

But i think you're wrong about the WG is not needed. Without the WG ,pirates would go slaughter and rape people everywhere they go. They still do, but thanks to the WG it's kept in check. Without the WG the OP world would look hella different.

And it could very well be a year long timeskip. I don't see Sanji beating all those okamas in a month or 2.

After seeing al these different opinions of different OP characters joining I decided to give my ideas of al these characters. I'll divide it in 2 parts characters luffy knows/cares about and characters he doesn't know/doesn't care about. I'm also leaving out the obvious characters like mr.3 (Luffy likes him, who doesn't xD ) who has joined Buggy.

Characters Luffy doesn't know/care about.

-Sabo : we just don't know enough about him, hell, he's barely given any screentime.(Also, i know Luffy cares about him, but luffy thinks he's dead).

-Perona : she just doesn't fit with the SH's, i think she'll stay with Mihawk, I can just imagine it : mihawk sitting on his one man boat and perona flying around him and annoying him.

-Bonney: same story as Sabo, we don't know enough about her yet. I wouldn't mind her joining the SH's but right now I just don't see her joining. She'll join if Oda wants her to join.

-Vegapunk: we don't know anything about him yet besides some of his inventions, but we do know that he was a kind person when he lived on that island where Franky is (forgot the name of the island). But i imagine him being a goofy character using inventions in battle. His dream could be returning to the island wher he used to live with rarematerials/money to finish that invention that would heath up the island, he'll collect some of these materials in the new world and help Luffy become Pirate King because Luffy freed him from the WG. This whole theory relies on Vegapunk working for the WG aginst his will. But he hasn't been properly introduced yet so we can only make assumptions/theories about him.

-Arlong : he's evil, Luffy doesn't like him. Don't see it happening.

Characters luffy cares about.

-Jinbei : he's a cool guy, and I think the SH's will have a fishman in the near future but i'm quite sure it won't be Jinbei (it'll probably be a fishman from the FI arc, which will happen). Besides, he would break the holy SH powerhouse trio.

-Mr2. Bentham: Luffy really likes him, so do Ussop and Chopper and so do I xD. He saved the SH's once and Luffy a couple of times (3 times i believe, dunno). I'm also quite sure that Luffy would want him in his crew. He wouldn't break the holy powerhouse trio while still being a great fighter. I also think that he'll escape on his own (which is possible with his power i guess) or that Luffy breaks him out. The only problem I have with him is that i just can't figure out what his dream could be :/.He also fits in the previous boss/sub-boss category. We'll just have to wait for that :p.

-Boa Hancock: I don't think she'll join, but I wouldn't mind it. She'd actually fit with the SH's, because of her personality (looking down upon others, being in love with Luffy etc…) and she'll make for some hilarious moments with the other SH's especially Sanji and Nami/Robin. Her chances of joining have actually risen: her dream could be marrying Luffy. Her job could be the Captain's lover... calling that a job sounds kinda weird I know xD. And she hasn't got any obligations anymore besides wouldn't she die of love sickness or something if she doesn't stay with Luffy? Also, she wouldn't break the SH powerhouse trio, because i doubt that she'll be as strong as Luffy/Zoro/Sanji after their power-ups. She also kinda fits in the previous boss/sub-boss category.

So yeah, i think 2 more people will join, one of them will be a character that hasn't been introduced yet (or Sabo/vegapunk they haven't been introduced in the current timeline yet). The other person COULD be Mr.2/Boa, or also a character that hasn't been introduced yet. Only time will tell tho.

Please don't flame on me >.<, i do want to hear your opinions (especially on my Vegapunk/Boa ideas).

I mean, he's just chillin while all other SN's are doing shit in the NW.
I also think he'll be one of the most important SN's, because he has the most fleshed out crew and saved luffy.
