@Light:
And how exactly is Kyros better? They both have this "badass warrior" thing going on, and to be honest, I'd say Wiper was much better handled character than Kyros. He was an ill-tempered xenophobic douchebag, sure, but it's still more personality than Kyros has. He's just your average "stern fighting-for-your-country-and-daughter"-kind of guy. Wiper actually had to go trough some character development and learn to trust non-shandians.
But of course, this is an opinion matter too.
I guess what MK means is that Kyros has more background than Wiper which is true since he got his own flashback. But his backstory isn't going to make him interesting to me if it's not well handled. His flashback was another "one chapter FB", rushed as hell… I just can't feel anything with this kind of rushed Flashback. The memory loss is a good idea, sure. Scarlet died? Big deal. I don't even know her. As for Rebecca I just can't stand her. With this, Kyros's backstory didn't interest me at all. His relationship with Dofla feels...empty. We've seen them meeting each other on one panel in the past, same goes for the present time. Sure, he is badass, his leadership as a toy soldier was interesting and his role in this arc is more important than Wiper, but still, it just doesn't work to me, can't be helped. Overall, I don't dislike Kyros, but I just feel nothing towards him.
As for Wiper, his relationship with Enel was well handled. It was pure hatred. They talked a lot each other. They had a nice fight as well. Same goes for his relationship with Ganfall. And this standing, these tears,that doublespread. He didn't have a backstory like Kyros but he was directly tied with Norland and Calgara backstory. I don't think it's nostalgia, but things were handled in a different manner, storytelling was different, in a better way. After 15+ years I guess it's bound to happen, he is human after all, not gonna blame him.
