Theory supporting One Piece will go to space: Nami's dream is to draw a map of the world, but assuming the Straw Hats' journey will end when they reach Raftel, Nami will not have seen most of the Grand Line or the other "Blues" at that point. So how will Nami's dream come true? Either it will take decades to explore the world after Luffy becomes King of the Pirates, or the Straw Hats will need to end up somewhere she can easily view the entire planet.

RE: Jeff Gerstmann's Job Given the 6.8 from Gamespot @ the behest of Eidos
1Up Shows Support For GameSpot Reviewers
In the growing wake of the controversy surrounding GameSpot's alleged firing of editorial director Jeff Gerstmann comes a little bit of surprising solidarity.
A bunch of Ziff Davis staffers (including 1Up) made a banner to show their support for fellow game reviewers and marched it the two blocks to the GameSpot building on Friday. The banner, and impromptu march, shows that despite being competition, what may have happened at GameSpot could have wide-spread implications in the game publication industry.
We're also told that the Kane & Lynch user reviews on Gamespot have been, at least temporarily, disabled and there are rumors that people are canceling their Gamespot accounts "en masse."
I'm not sure how Gamespot is going to deal with all of this since I'm pretty sure they're not legally able to talk about why Gerstmann is no longer there. I'd assume that at some point Gerstmann might talk, but I'd guess right now he's trying to figure out what to do in the way of a job.
What about you? Do you work as a game reviewer? Have you been forced to rewrite a review due to advertising pressure? Feel free to email us at tips if you have or to editor. Remember, you can remain anonymous.

RE: Jeff Gerstmann's Job Given the 6.8 from Gamespot @ the behest of Eidos
GameSpot Insider Claims Editor Was Fired for 'Larger Reasons'
By Susan Arendt
One of the team members who worked on the Kane & Lynch ads for GameSpot says that the timing of editor Jeff Gerstmann's departure is a case of coincidence, not cause and effect.
The Internet was rife with rumors yesterday that Gerstmann had been let go after giving Kane & Lynch a low review score, which angered GameSpot advertiser Eidos.
According to this post [UPDATE: the post has since been removed by the author], supposedly written by one of the ad team, Eidos was indeed ticked off, but decided against pulling the spots, opting instead to have the ads retooled to point readers to the game's official site instead of its review page:
The ads went up and the Eidos brouhaha was settled over two weeks ago. Jeff got fired yesterday. Furthermore, I'd heard a few people tell that he'd already been skating on thin ice for "unprofessional reviews and review practices." I don't know much about that, though, so I can't say one way or the other. My gut tells me that he got canned for larger reasons. Maybe the Eidos debacle was part of it – I don't know. But I sincerely doubt that Eidos made Gamespot fire him. CNET doesn't kowtow to its advertisers, and I've more than once seen the higher-ups turn away big advertising dollars for the sake of the company's integrity.I think the whole thing is likely a combination of factors, the biggest being poor timing. -

Good luck Jeff, screw CNet, and go Tim!

RE: The All-New FUNimation Dub Discussion thread!
My question: are they going to dub the entire series or just what 4shit didn't get to? o__o I want uncut dvds for One Piece in it's entirety… I apologize if this has been asked before.
Viz currently holds the DVD rights to the episodes that 4kids did, so FUNi can't redub those right now, but they plan to to when Viz loses the rights or finishes releasing their DVDs.

This is going to sound lame, but I think I'm gonna watch the One Piece dub with my mom. I've actually turned her into a fan.
Getting someone into anime, no matter who it is, is never lame.
Sweet. Not only is Naruto getting hour treatment for the "Save Sasuke" arc (which is the best thing that happened to Naruto), but the ratings from Naruto could fall into One Piece. Good deal. I'm gonna be glued to my TV on Saturday nights from now on
Wow, your right. Having Naruto right before is the best thing that could happen to One Piece. It's certainly much better than CN putting on some crappy show at 9:30 to make the Naruto fans turn off their TVs.

RE: OFFICIAL: Death Note coming to Adult Swim
Kick ass; finally a reason I'd watch Adult Swim on Saturdays after Bleach.
Bleach is going on hiatus after episode 52. Death Note is it's replacement.
It has been confirmed that the voices in the preview trailer are NOT the voices for the actual dub.

You heard it here first, folks.
The new anime is indeed Death Note as a lot of you have speculated.
This is a great show and we're proud to present it on air as well as online.
It's first scheduled showing is Oct 20th at 12:00 a.m. so please don't miss it or you may find your name in a place you don't want it to be. -

RE: Interesting New MGS4 Info
Following the presentation of the Beauty and the Beast trailer, Kojima engaged a short Q&A session that provided little hard information but a number of laughs from the crowd. When asked whether the recently unveiled Metal Gear Online would be included in MGS4 or released as a separate SKU (or retail item), Kojima and other Konami reps indicated that at least some aspect of MGO's gameplay would appear as an online mode in MGS4. However, the final plans for the eventual release of Metal Gear Online have yet to be decided. He also confirmed that boss characters from some past Metal Gear games will appear as playable characters in MGO. A savvy member of the audience quickly asked about the status of an Xbox 360 port of MGS4, a question which producer Ken Imaizumi addressed directly in English. He stated that Konami has no plan for an Xbox 360 version of the game, then paused, and added a sly "for now." This elicited much laughter and groaning from the audience. Another attendee asked if MGS4 will support controller rumble, to which Imaizumi said "We wish we could. Let's see what's gonna happen." Kojima followed this up by describing the "rumble guy," the member of Kojima productions whose job it is to make smart use of force feedback. Lately, Kojima said, he's become worried that the rumble guy has nothing to do, and he hopes that he can give said fellow more tasks in the near future.

I hated MGS2 Raiden, but the he seems like quite the badass in MGS4. I'm really hoping there is some way to play as him in the game, seeing as he gets at least one battle of his own(with Vamp).

The link also shows the real life women that the bosses are apparently based on…
-
RE: Interesting New MGS4 Info
Obviously we'll see some human bosses in the form of old enemies, but I'm hoping this isn't it for the roster.
Well, since this is suppose to be the "finale" in the Metal Gear story, and this game is called "Guns of the Patriots", I was hoping we'd get to fight some…you know...Patriots.
Unless the Patriots really did die 100+ years ago, but that'd be pretty lame. :/
-
RE: Interesting New MGS4 Info
their names are Crying Wolf, Raging Raven, Laughing Octopus, and Screaming Mantis.
Not only do they match the animal names of the MGS1 bosses, but the first part of their names reminds me of MGS3 bosses.
Crying…The Sorrow
Raging...The Fury
Screaming...The Pain
Laughing...???

RE: Too Human – The Game and the Controversy
Never heard of it? This is supposed to be bigger than Mass Effect. But they always delay this shit.
Well, the game was hyped pretty big until the game's dissapointing demo at E3 2006(it had bugs out the wazoo), and since then it's all but dissapeared(except Dyack randomly complaining and spouting nonsense from time to time). But now the game seems to be planned for a early 2008 release according to Dyack.

Too Human – The Game and the Controversy
"Silicon Knights made headlines recently, thanks to its very public legal spatEpic countersued, charging that Silicon Knights' suit was merely an attempt to acquire the development toolset for free. with Epic Games. In July, the Ontario-based studio sued the North Carolina-based developer, claiming the latter had given "false and misleading statements" when licensing its Unreal Engine 3. Last week,
The ugly exchanges overshadowed the impending release of Too Human, Silicon Knights' long-in-the-making action game. First announced for the original PlayStation at the 1999 Electronic Entertainment Expo, the title was shifted to the GameCube when the studio entered into an exclusive partnership with Nintendo. After disappearing for several years, Too Human was publicly re-unveiled as an Xbox 360 exclusive in 2005 and shown off to attendees of E3 2006.
Since then, though, public views of Too Human have been all too hard to come by. The game missed its scheduled spring 2007 launch, and its publisher, Microsoft Game Studios, has been largely mum on the game's release date.
Today, the reason for the silence became clear. Speaking to GameSpot at the Leipzig Games Convention, Silicon Knights' president and cofounder Denis Dyack confirmed that the game is now scheduled for 2008.
"We're looking for an early first quarter release of Too Human," the developer said. "We're really excited about it, we can't wait to show people and…time will tell."
Dyack went on to call it Silicon Knights' "best game to date" and promised that a demo of the game would be on Xbox Live Marketplace. However, he did not give a time frame for the when the demo would be released, or what it would consist of.
For more with Denis Dyack, check back tomorrow for a full video interview with the celebrated developer."As someone who is pretty interested in this game, I wanted to make a topic about everything surrounding it.
-Could Too Human finally be released after all the troubled development?
-Will this game be as great as they claim, or will it be another Fable?
-Has Epic Games been cheating the companies who license their engine, or is Silicon Knights the wrong ones for using Epic's engine to make their own?
-Is Dennis Dyack insane?Discuss…

Okay, after showing Usopp’s Luffy’s and Zoro’s voice samples to my friend, he instantly found where Luffy’s goat line was in the anime, so that gave me the idea to me this:
Enjoy!
Very nice. Luffy seems a lot cooler and funnier with that scene in context rather than it being randomly said at a convention.
Just an observation: the voice actors seem to like to do really goofy lines when asked to do their voice at the convention, instead of any of the cool ones. It just seems like that leaves the wrong impression to people who don'tr know much about OP, since being goofy and funny is only one side of the series.

RE: Heroes
I think the only problem with Heroes is that it's "conclusions" are not as good as they lead you to believe they will be. We were lead to think that the Homecoming would be all the heroes coming together to beat Sylar, but it ended up just being Peter saving Claire. We were then lead to believe that Peter and Sylar would have an epic battle, but it wasn't really like that at all.
Other than that though, the show is full of awesome.

@Cap'n:
So Noitora's method of "proving himself" is hunting down half-dead guys.
This may not be a matter of proving himself, considering he left Chad alive because he couldn't even fight and wasn't worth killing. I think Noitora is just getting Grimmjow out of the way now that he has become useless to Aizen.
Holy crap, my links don't work now either. This site hates me…

Yeah, but if you remember in the April interview with Justin Cook, he stated that there'd be no skipping on TV unless an episode was really boring or unappealing. I don't think they'll skip Oceans Dream. But I really hope they skip the Enies Lobby recap episodes.
I remember him saying they wouldn't skip any episodes, but I don't remember him saying anything about if an episode was boring or unappealing. o.O
If he did say that, is that even a good idea? I mean, who's to judge on what's considered "boring and unappealing"?

RE: Resident Evil 5
http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=25817098
Resident Evil 5 stirs concerns of racism For all their focus on gore galore, zombie movies have traditionally been rife with social commentary and allegory. George Romero's Living Dead series of films have touched on terrorism, class warfare, rampant commercialism, and in the original Night of the Living Dead, race relations.
The two subjects are intersecting again, as the recently released trailer for Resident Evil 5 has a number of commentators concerned about how the trailer portrays a white hero–the returning Chris Redfield--against hordes of black zombie foes in what could be an African village. In an editorial for The Village Voice's Runnin' Scared news blog, Bonnie Ruberg notes one forum-goer's concern that gunning down mobs of angry Africans could be "subtly racist." Ruberg herself says she finds the trailer "strangely disturbing."
"It's not just that these zombies are black, but that the uninfected black villagers are zombie-like too," Ruberg wrote. "See all those spooky shots of the villagers before they get infected? It's as if race itself were a disease. The white protagonist has to fight back or be infected."
She also notes that according to the zombie mythos, the barest contamination, a bite or a single drop of blood in an open wound, spells doom for a person. That could be a parallel to Africa's ongoing HIV and AIDS crisis, Ruberg wrote, or a reminder of the segregationists who used a "one drop rule" stating that black ancestry of any sort was justification enough to deny a person access to basic rights.
Ruberg is not the only commentator to blog on the issue. In a post titled "Blackface Goes HD?," Jason from Microscopiq takes issue not only with the race of the parties involved in the trailer, but also in the setting.
"With all the positive steps being taken of late to raise awareness of the good things happening in Africa as well as the urgent need in some parts of the continent, we really can't afford this kind of step back. We need to find ways to humanize Africans, not dehumanize them."
On Black Looks, a group blog focusing on African women and social concerns, Kym Platt briefly recaps the trailer, noting that it's apparently the white character's job to destroy the black people and save humanity.
"This is problematic on so many levels," Platt wrote, "including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young…fearing, hating, and destroying Black people."
Platt's blog--like the others--has spurred a number of responses, most overwhelmingly in defense of the game or against the original author. One response to the "Black Looks" post points out that the Resident Evil series has seen its share of zombies of European origin.
"According to the statistics of racial make-up in the world, I'd actually say that whites have been unfairly discriminated against in the series, if anything, since so many of them have been enemies in RE," said one commenter. "It only seems fair that Africans get treated equally, and with only one game full of primarily black enemies to six games full of primarily white, from a racial viewpoint I'd say that the Africans are getting off easy."
"There is plenty of real racism alive and well in the world today and words cannot describe how disgusting it can be," wrote another, "but it is garbage rants like this that take attention from real problems. It is absurd and insulting to everyone to suggest this game is in anyway being designed to teach anyone to hate black people."
A third poster merely commented, "That game looks so awesome."
Over on the Village Voice blog post, one commenter approached the issue from another direction, writing, "Many of these games, including [Resident Evil 5], are being made in ethnically homogenous Japan, where concepts of race are hugely different from those in America. On some level, I think Japanese developers simply don't understand how potentially flammable these kinds of scenarios could become, let alone some of the even more blatant stereotyping often found in Japanese games (think Barrett's penchant for Ebonics in [Final Fantasy 7], just for starters.)" -

And how would less people know about One Piece than Naruto? They air around the same time, and One Piece has been on Toonami longer.
Naruto is promoted more, and gets a ton of marathons that One Piece dosen't. Also, people who don't watch CN are more likely to recognize Naruto than One Piece.

I would have loved Chad to meet up with Yammy instead of Noitora. Chad wouldn't have gotten owned, Yammy could die, and all would be right with the world.
Hey, anyone noticed that none of the chapters are called "The Slashing Opera"?
-
RE: Bleach Discussion
Indeed, Chad always gets stuck with meeting the uber characters first and having no way to deal with them. Ichigo is usually the one who can handle them, and Ishida has the advantage of meeting these uber characters later than Chad does, as well as having some way to beat them, whether it's some super secret forbidden Quincy power, or just teaming up with someone else(that is, assuming Ishida and Renji will beat Szayel).
-
RE: Bleach Discussion
Cirucci was about as important to Ishida as Doldoni was to Ichigo.
Gantenbein, on the other hand, dosen't seem so important. He was quickly disposed of by Chad and overshadowed by Noitora.

RE: The Official Funimation One Piece Thread (Airs Sept. 29!) Read First Post
Yeah, I'm really curious how they're going to advertise the new season too. I think they should say something about the production change, I mean, it's a pretty big change, it's going to confuse some people for sure. I think it's be nice for them to just say "a new voice cast from the people that brought you you FMA and Shin Chan (since they're popular shows on CN) with the original music score" or something like that. I think that sells it well without insinuating that 4kids is bad.
I seriously doubt them doing anything like that. I don't think CN sees any advantage in letting everyone know that the voice cast has changed. It's not like CN wanted a new dub. They just wanted the show to continue after 4kids dropped it, because the 4kids version got good ratings. They'll most likley act like nothing's changed to try to keep the fanbase of the 4kids version(because, yes, there is a fanbase for the 4kids version).
Also, I can't see Toonami making references to Adult Swim shows outside of the "Now, Next, Later" schedule bumps they do(or used to do, haven't watched Toonami in a while).

RE: FUNi VA Thread
If Sonny Strait knew about Sogeking and they're dubbing a game that Soge's in then that's awesome! Could it be Unlimated Adventure? That would be interesting.
Again, I would assume. I don't think Soge is in any other games except Jump Ultimate Stars, which of course, dosen't have any voices in it.
