I see I still need to work on my English.
You may have misunderstood me. I want Kaido and Big Mom to have Ryuuou. ^^
I see I still need to work on my English.
You may have misunderstood me. I want Kaido and Big Mom to have Ryuuou. ^^
Personally i find it more impressive when he survives taking legitimate wounds rather than when things just bounce of his hax skin. Has more weight to it when he just had a sword in his chest but he's still just sitting up like it was no big bother
Yeah, I think many of us were misinterpreting how Kaido's incredible strenght works. He was never meant to be this untouchable monster that nobody can even scratch. On the contrary, you can kick his ass all you want, he'll just get back up anyways. Just like Luffy. All villains are dark reflections of Luffy in a way, so I guess it's finally him to be the one yelling ''why won't you stay down!!!!!!!''
That's why Oda has no problem showing him on his back, screaming or bleeding. You can hurt him, but it just won't matter in the end.
Both good points that I'll consider.
ā- Update From New Post Merge ---
The disappointment that Kaido can be hurt with "ryuo" is funny. Like why shouldn't Kaido be able to get hurt with that? I expect Big Mom to be able to get hurt with "ryuo" too.
Anyway, I expect the minks to wreck Kaido next chapter but I like the idea of him summoning clouds to block their view of the moon.
I want them to HAVE Ryuuou. How fucking frightening would that be?
The final spread is just utterly gorgeous. Gives off an Eastern painting vibe.
The Kaido kneeling spread is very nice to look at too.
Again, not a fan of Kaido getting hurt this early, but it seems like he already regenerated and it's plausible that he did.
Can't wait to quote some controversial users and their misguided comments here next chapter.
On the discussion about Kaido wanting to have an epic death, this video elaborates on it:
He also gives out an interesting point: just like Roger, WB and Oden got their epic deaths, Rocks doesn't seem to have gotten one, and may have been forgotten by history. So Maybe Kaido's biggest fear is ending up like Rocks.
If Xebec doesn't get un-silhouetted soon, I'm pretty darn sure he's alive.
My reason for liking Oden is simple.
"Going over the top" is a big theme of the series. And he did that, a lot. He was both selfless sometimes and selfish others. He had flaws. He was strong. He had a, in my opinion, very memorable death.
I really don't need much more than that. I've liked characters in this series for their funny laugh.
I feel like I would have to try to actively dislike him combining confirmation bias and negativity bias to hate him.
@Monkey:
If your reasoning is she is harsh on Israel, then coddling Israel is one of the main things about the modern Democratic party that needs to go.
It's one of the most ridiculous out of step things about the party.ā- Update From New Post Merge ---
Pretend I rolled my eyes so hard this thread rolled down into the creativity section with it.
I don't wanna derail the thread, but I don't do much theorizing of any kind. When one of them uses a quote that exposes themself, I tend to believe it. That's all. I simply believe that the CEO reports to the Board of Directors. And I don't believe they're weird lizard people. Do I know exactly who they are? No, but it's simple logic that they wouldn't want themselves known because that'd put a target on their back. I'm with Carlin on this one, there's a reason certain Presidents get assassinated.
Oden is the kind of guy who people either love or hate. As that kind of a person myself (or so I'm told), he really speaks to me.
People calling him "chad" or "dumb jock" have had the reverse effect of me liking him even more.
He's impulsive, selfish, selfless, funny, aggressive, fully human yet mythological son of a bitch.
He reminds of Luffy tbh
I didn't like Oden before his flaws got introduced. But when they did I came around to liking him. It's still interesting to me that the Pirate King called him "scum" well after he was on their ship for a while.
That I can understand. But just because he's been an adult back then already doesn't mean that he reached the peak of his physical strenght. Of course in shonen not everybody get's stronger exponentially the older he gets but at least it's not something that is unheard of. I just think even as an adult Kaido could have grown more in physical strenght over the course of two decades.
The thing is he did grow in strength though, like, it's not even a question. It's been said by several characters, I posted an example of one bluntly saying it a few pages back or so.
Agreeing with you by the way in case this came off snarky.
But Orochi isn't dead.
This guy gets it. Neither is Kanjuro.
It's important to learn the methods and reasons for who Oda kills and why, and who he spares.
I wish he would't get one. But plot law dictates that we must.
I gotta know who he was defeated by and why he's suicidal, but I can understand not wanting one.
I don't think Kaido's gonna get a flashback bros, I mean it's not like someone like Senor Pink did.
Amazing that all three of you completely missed the point.
There really needs to be a reading comprehension test for anyone who joins this forum because this is getting ridiculous.
When someone says someone has "missed the point" now, I just imagine them panicking at having nothing to say and then breathing a sigh of relief when they type it. It's like when people used to say "you're backpedaling!" all the time. It's just something people pull out when they want to try to subvert your argument from the outset with no actual substantial weight behind what they're saying. Calling your opponent "insane" is similar and is used way too often as a cop-out.
The US needs at least one public news channel unbeholden to the government itself aside from being funded by taxes of course, to educate the people on the most important domestic and global issues. Without a profit motive they can focus only on relevant issues and bringing the facts. There should probably also be a term limit for its direction and the committee that picks them, so you don't get the problem the BBC is running into with elitism and political bias.
I think this would in the long term solve a massive number of issues with the US. Of course, this won't happen this century because big gumbint bad.
As much as I love the idea of something like that existing, it sounds like pure fantasy at this juncture. The USA controllers want to create as much divisiveness as possible, and if a news channel's not doing that, it doesn't serve their interests much. They seriously are putting political spins on coronavirus at every opportunity.
What does that have to do with anything?
Examples?
Glad you asked.
Quite simply, a time frame in which someone got massively stronger.
Sure, lemme get on my laptop for easier copy/pasting.
Edit: Source #1, chapter 907
This is why it matters whether you're talking about the Kaido of 20 years ago who got slashed by a magical sword, which he's not impervious to since it's not a regular blade, rather than the Kaido of today who has been directly said to have gotten stronger over time.
Why is it that Joy Boy and Daz are leaving out the 20 year gap between Oden v Kaido and the current storyline?
Are we really going to assume that Kaido didn't get stronger after Oden explicitly told him to get stronger?
Why would Oden tell Kaido to "never come back to Wano" if he was sure he was going to land a killing blow?
Is there proof that Kaido was even labeled as the strongest creature 20 years ago?
All it takes is rational thinking for these portrayal arguments to fall apart.
To piggyback off of thisā¦ Shanks became a Yonkou in 6 years or less.
It has also been stated multiple times by different characters that Kaido and Big Mom are only getting stronger.
One Piece is that type of Manga which makes you cry for a damn Shipā¦
That fact alone speaks volumes about its quality..
But that Editor made us hyped for nothing.. Which was nothing surprising since they tend to that every now and then
I like your username. Kizaru's a fantastic character.
Editor comments should always basically be taken as trying to hype. I never take them that seriously. As much as they know ABOUT Oda and his work, they're not inside his brain.
Iā¦what?
Kaido is the strongest creature in the world.
Not the toughest, craftiest, most lithe, smartest, best swordsman, most invulnerable, fairest, cheapest, most weapon-savvy, best strategist, or any other superlative.
Put him in an arm-wrestling contest, he's probably going to win majority of matches.
Put him up against a swordsman it's an entirely different set of rules, checks and balances.
If Kaido was deemed the 'greatest warrior in all fields known to humankind' and he was depicted as losing, yeah, that would take him down a notch. But Kaido is tough (never said to be the toughest), and he's strong. If he betrays that strength, yes, Oda has failed. But him falling to a weapon doesn't betray anything about his establishment. Only the blanks we fill in on our own.
This is a well-written post of course butā¦ Next chapter will answer a loooot of questions people have.
I think what is best to do is just wait and see, a very short time.
People tend to get caught up in Oda's baiting, which he does love to do. It's not a meme, it's an actual tactic he uses.
The amount of people who were like "OMG BRO DID KAIDO GET KNOCKED OUT?? WHITE EYES!!" when we ended on the Elephant Gun in 922~ (a regular Gear 3 attack... an attack Doflamingo took as if it was a joke) was utterly hilarious and really exposed that a lot of the fandom just does not look even slightly past the surface level of what's going on. All this sets them up to do is immediately get proven wrong.
@.access:
Turns out Takano has been an editor for about an year, so this being the first time he cried since he became an editor suddenly sounds less about the chapter being all that and more about him just crying easily. I mean, have you cried reading One Piece in the last year?
Yes, chapter 967.
Yes, I don't mean to complain. It's not a problem. I just think it's a missed opportunity.
That's true. It can still be done.
Oda "late blooms" a lot of moments, I wouldn't throw out the possibility yet. How long did it take for us to find out Luffy had a brother? A decent while. Trying to think of something someone took forever to comment on in story but there are obviously tons of examples.
I don't say "random" in the sense that the timing and context are wrong. On the contrary, it's the right time. Luffy is the fifth emperor and it's about to defeat two Yonkou, soon to become PK, so it makes sense to put on him the fancy garments that indicates his status. But that's subtext and design.
My thing is more like why would Luffy be wearing the coat now from his own perpesctive? In other words, what made Luffy open his closet this morning and say "oh yeah, today is the day that I'll wear my fancy Pirate King coat! yarr!"?
This is the kind of thing that should be a "character moment" for him, IMO, and a fun one. Especially because Luffy is not the kind of guy to care for fashion, so it would be cool to see his thoughts and logic behind using fancy garments. Details like this is what elevates the experience.
Hmmm. Gotta say I agree here. But, there is a type of coolness to him just donning the coat. Basically the absolute best way Oda could handle it is to have Usopp say "yo man what's with the new coat?" and have Luffy answer and they have a little bro moment.
Either way, I'm just happy he's got the coat on, and everything about it works for me context-wise so I really have no issue haha.
OR have Kaido go "Why are you so cocky, boy? Acting like you're a real pirate." etc. then Luffy answers, hell I'd prefer this.
About thatā¦ I wish it would have been addressed in the manga, lol.
I like it, obviously, but it would have been better if Luffy had made a funny remark for why he's using this kind of coat, kinda like how there was a little conversation about the afro for his fight against Foxy.
I mean, it's a bold fashion choice that screams a symbolic gesture of grandeur. So I rather see it as a choice that Luffy made for himself as a statement than just the author randomly putting the coat on him just to show how much Luffy has grown as a pirate.
I definitely don't find it random, I find the timing and context perfect for it to be worn.
A comment for me is just a bonus.
Honestly don't even engage with Joy Boy.
He's a troll that spent the entirety of the Whole Cake Island arc's run complaining about how "Big Meme" wasn't as good as she was hyped up.
He's someone that has his headcanon power levels questioned and then complains about the manga. Every week.
Tbh he's light compared to some of what I converse with. But I do appreciate it. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt unless they're overtly obviously toxic.
Big Memeā¦ hmm. I can't help but feel like we mostly saw a nerfed Big Mom in WCI out of necessity since we had a skeleton crew. I found her to have a really impressive showing personally, since the Straw Hats and their friends suffered a lot just for trying to infiltrate and escape. I don't consider her to have taken any actual damage, maaaybe from Nami's thunder but I dunno, seemed more like a stun.
I don't sympathize with the Kaido deniers either because of a scar 20 years ago, when Shanks became a Yonkou in 6 years.
Yea the Onigashima stretch has been fantastic so far, and that's all before the raid had actually begun. Well, until now of course.
It has, it's crazy to think this basically STARTED with the huge double spread of the 3 Supernova leaders, Luffy, Law, and Kid.
I have to reiterate that's a big moment in the series I've been wanting since Sabaody.
And before that, something I've wanted even MORE was Luffy wearing a captain's coat. And we got that too.
It's a really fucking good time to be a fan of this series. o_o
@Joy:
No because he got PTSD from Oden
I'd be scared too of the guy who gave me my only visible scar.
I'm more eager for 987 than usual.
Need to keep my expectations downā¦
We've had absolute bangers for chapters, especially since Onigashima started.
I think we're completely done with any "haha Franky builds boats" type chapters. We're full on engaged now.
Same here though, just expecting Kaido to completely trounce them.
@Joy:
Kaido is officially dead as a big bad villain. What a bad showing yet again and in arc that hasn't done him any favor.
There's nothing official about it, since your criteria for that is very weird to say the least. Because he got pushed off a ledge? When he can fly?
Personally, I really like that all of the Emperors aren't just unbeatable, emotionless monsters, but are actually being portrayed as normal, flawed human beingsā¦who happen to be immensely strong monsters, too.
EDIT: Like, it really comes across to me that it's very important to Oda that all of the Yonko are written as memorable, interesting and entertaining characters. Right now, Shanks of all people is probably the most uninteresting Yonko to me.
This is a very important point, honestly. One Piece is about flawed characters (aka better written characters) than perfect ones. If you saw an anime/manga character like, say, Medaka, and you were like "eh, this character is too perfect" (even though that was her shtick), you'd lean more towards preferring flaws in characters.
Kaido got introduced IMMEDIATELY with the "he was defeated x times, captured y times" intro boxes on his first on-screen appearance. So him being unbeatable was never the intention. Just as you said, immensely strong, nearly god-like strength.
Though all of that said, there definitely still are 1-note gag characters but they're usually very minor characters.
@uniaka:
Well it's a fact that oda doesn't kill outside of marineford and flashbacks.
Let's not confuse opinions with facts. "Dead unless they come back" is the modus operandi for deaths in the series. It makes you question if they're dead, sure, but sometimes it's more obvious than others. I always thought Pound was coming back because the injury was off-screened. Pedro's death hammers home a much more important theme than Pound's, so much higher likelihood of being dead.
Phew! I'm late.
Historic chapter. If you had shown me something like this during the W7/EL days or Marineford (the biggest climaxes of the story so far), I would've been in awe. I wouldn't even imagine a chapter like this would be possible back then. As far as core story progression goes, pre-ts or post-ts, this is my favorite chapter of all time. And, to top it all off, it has a twist no one predicted (except maybe 1% of people). Seeing Kaido and Big Mom declare they'd gather all the Ancient Weapons to wreak havoc on the world and pursue One Piece gave me full body chills. Wano/Oni's already one of my favorite arcs of the whole series.
I'm in the "I don't think Orochi's dead" camp.
I'm quite enjoying Yamato so far. She's biologically female, and any strong biologically female character in the series I welcome.
Oh and this chapter did wonders for O-Kiku / Kikunojo's characterization. Really good dialogue.
I just can't help but feel like it's been so long since Imuā¦ The old Kaguya comparison just doesn't seem to hold up anymore.
2 years since Imu was silhouetted, and before that, 2 years since Imu was hinted at in 793.
And I personally believe Doflamingo's comment back at the end of Marineford can count as a hint towards Imu, since it lines up perfectly with both Doflamingo's story and how Imu seems to operate.
That also fails to account that a lot of people "surviving" are doing so with horrific crippling side effects that may be with them for years. "Not dying" isn't the whole story with this disease.
It is not something you ever want to catch. The impact it has on your lungs - and your wallet if you live in the USA - are things you'll be dealing with for a very long time. And I hope they're not correct but I've read some things about it negatively impacting your brain.
I wonder if I decided to move to a small town, would that reduce the chance of getting it? Wouldn't there be less bodies congregated at stores?
I feel like someone had a big visual guide to all the named enemies and allies involved with the arc. Iād love to find that and guesstimate more matchups. As usual though I hope itās the StraW Hats that have the biggest impact on the entire battle.
Iād love it even further if Sanji, Jimbei and Zoro take out a Calamity each but only after the Calamity seemingly falls against a ābetterā opponent. Cat, Dog getting the best of Jack, Marco getting the best of King and maybe ??? gets the best of Queen only for them to regenerate later and then wiping the floor with their exhausted opponent.Just this chapter we were reminded at how these ancient Zoans can get back up like darn near nothing happened. When it happens at the absolute worst moment the war is going to feel nearly lost. Iām counting on it but really wishing that itās the Straw Hatz that come in and finish off what even fighters who are perceived to be better could not do.
Once we get another bounty reveal Iāll probably bring this next point up in the latest bounty thread but should something like this happen then maybe new bounties reflect the fact that the Straw Hat didnāt technically defeat such a high bounty opponent all on their own.
Ancient Zoans have ultra durability, maybe they're all Awakened in the way the Impel Down guards were? Would it be too much to have all Flying Six and above Zoans Awakened? 'Cause their regeneration seems to be incredibly fast. I personally can't wait to see these Zoans impaling some dudes, Oda loves his gore.
And oh lord you just reminded me that we haven't seen King's bounty yet. o_o The implications that has for the length of Wano arc is justā¦ wow. I'm a happy camper though because I wanted this to be the longest arc yet.
So distracted by real life now and all the "happenings" now. @_@
That was awesome. Page One and Ulti took a hit but are far from out of commission, so anyone who thought they were out for the rest of the arc prove they still don't understand how Oda writes. Ancient Zoans are being paid nice respect. Enjoyed the action between Luffy and Yamato, and how Yamato simply blocking keeps up with G2/G3 Luffy without a sweat. I will always gladly take strong (biological) female characters in One Piece, and this one's quite the heavyhitter. The Robin gag was legit hilarious. The Kaido crew mobilizing spread reminds me of the absolute best spreads from pre-ts. I was doing a "points off if the chapter didn't feel substantial enough so close to 1000" thing, this chapter gets none off. 9/10
Oh this I do remember. It's pretty much exactly like the panel in the chapter.
Vivi still got him better than this though. :ninja:
Indeed.
Vivi directly after hitting Luffy:
Oh definitely agree that Oda still has "got it" but in just doesn't compare to pre-timeskip IMO. I'm not saying pre-timeskip was perfect. There have been parts I didn't find good and critisized back then too but there's more of those moments post-timeskip and some were really low points for me.
Pre-ts was very tightly packed, I think that had a lot to do with it.
W7/EL was just a continuous onslaught of back to back good moments. Like W7 started RIGHT with an admiral battle and had an immediate strong hook with Robin's darkness. I don't think we'll ever get something like that arc again, though I do think we will certainly hit higher highs, as much as some may doubt that. I have a theory that the flag burning moment from EL was meant for later in the series, but Oda did it early because Skypiea's sales were low iirc, so he played some of his best cards early.
I would argue pre-ts was very very close to perfect. :P
But once Wano's over I think a lot of people will see what Oda's been going for. He's been putting a LOT of things on the backburner, and a lot of them have to come to fruition this arc.
This is from the anime adaption of chapter 166, right?
It's either from that or the Alabasta movie.
Either way Luffy got destroyed.
Of course I do. I never stopped it. It's just that back then the changes in OP kinda took away a lot of the passion I had for the series. And to be honest I think it never has gotten back on track but it do think that it has it's moment and actually can even be great here and there. The thing is that because of that I really don't read the chapters in a same way I used to do before so I do tend to oversee a lot of detail every now and then which is a pity I think. Also sometimes I really don't get what actually is going on so having a place to clear up the confusion would be helpful, so I figured I could come back^^
Seems like a fair enough point. I really wonder if the entire Kimetsu no Yaiba thing will actually get some of the higher ups thinking that even a big manga like One Piece could actually benefit from having a good anime adaption. Wishful thinking I know.
I'm in the camp that feels post-ts One Piece has been steadily increasing in quality. It's only natural, we've been steadily building towards a massive dual conclusion even since Fishman Island. While I don't necessarily support Oda's decision to make ALL of the New World so far a very long-game build up ā I think some of the most crucial years for the manga are the next 2, because if Wano's conclusion is a grand slam, which I believe it will be given Oda just recently wrote 967 so he very much has still "got it", it's going to retroactively make a lot of the NW better, for me, personally.
I think all Oda had to do was have a NW version of Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, Drum, etc. and my complaints about post-ts would shrink drastically. Pack them with interesting environments, good SH interactions talking about their adventures and just vibing. Oda had the perfect opportunity to do it between FI and PH and he should've.
The series is messy now, for sure. But everything I like about it is still there, just some elements like Chopper have been damaged.
It's brown, but at the same it isn't.
According to my research.
Vivi is stronk. A lot of people forget about THIS:
I don't know how Luffybros ever recovered.
This is more what I'm talking about. Nice dynamic fighting with Luffy, smartly written so that Luffy takes on 2 Flying Six instead of just 1 so it's more fair (and he certainly didn't decisively beat either Ulti or Page-one) - a major plot twist and I would've been so disappointed if Yamato was weak and nerdy, but bloodlines count in One Piece and thankfully he's very strong - and a Dark Piece moment (Momo being crucified).
Exactly what I expect so close to chapter 1000, great stuff.
I'm gonna be harsher on Oda since he's getting quite close to 1000, but not in a mean way or anything. So given that we're now less than 20 chapters to 1000, every chapter should be crucial, I'm gonna take off 1 point since a lot of the stuff in this chapter wasssā¦ flavor more than progress. I liked the flavor, but still. Marco showing up was great, I was hoping he'd come, and his dialogue was good.
I'd have liked a more explosive introduction for the Number(s).
I very much am happy that we're getting Supernova vs Supernova action, I'd imagine 90% of people who saw/read Sabaody wanted them to be rivals. Some allies are cool but the rivalries are getting spotlight now which is fantastic news. Chapter: Without Marco, 7/10, with Marco, 8/10, "close to 1000" factor: goes back down to a 7/10.
I tend to agree with you,but i also want to say that its funny how people with similar view can also see things in a different way. Some days ago i've read a comment on another forum where someone who enjoyed Alabasta as well, complained about the fact that here in Onigashima there was no tension because Luffy and Zoro in this chapter were surrounded by powerful warriors but there were too many jokes that killed the tension. I think i agree with both your view and the one of this user. There was a good tension in this chapter, and maybe less jokes would have improved this even more, but i didnt mind the jokes as well.
By the way,i have read that Japan just declared the end of the state of emergency for the corona. I hope this means that One Piece will come back on a better schedule very soon.
That's fantastic news for Japan.
We're not to the super serious grimdark stuff yet, I don't mind some jokes, it is a festive party with booze after all.
Seriously though the New World really f*cking needed this arc. Bring on the struggle.
@Ghidorah:
Meanwhile, back at Kong's officeā¦ Kong: ā¦I'm gon beat the shit outta all y'all muthafuckas
Poor Kong needs some precious page time so he can remind people he's the top guy above all the other admirals.
A man after my own heart.
WE NEED MORE KONG DAMNIT
I heard there was some controversy over this chapter over Apoo being 2strong.
This chapter worked wonders for me. I'm into One Piece for a lot of reasons, but tension and stakes are some of the most foremost. The fact that Luffy and Zoro ALREADY have taken some decent blows after just barely stepping foot on the island isā¦ and the fact that it's by another Supernova... it just works extremely well for me, it's exactly what I'm looking for. This entire arc I want to be asking "No, seriously, how are they going to win?" and this helps a lot with that for me. It immediately set the tone for the war. I remember one of the moments I started really feeling One Piece was when Luffy, Smoker, and some of his crew were in the seastone cage in Alabasta and things just kept happening one after another that just made you completely question how they'd ever get out of there, especially with Smoker in there to start. This is the stuff I'm into, I don't like easy rides for heroes.
Extremely hard to predict, as your post shows there are countless factors to consider.
I'll go ahead and make my prediction.
Luffy: IF Blackbeard's bounty gets increased a lot due to him obtaining an Ancient Weapon: Luffy hits 2.5 bil. If Blackbeard's bounty does NOT raise: Luffy hits 2 bil.
Zoro: 1.2 bil?
Nami: 300 mil
Usopp: 300 mil
Sanji: 1 bil
Chopper: 100 mil or 200 mil
Robin: (if accurately done) Should realistically be incredibly high due to how close they are to Raftel and her knowledge. Beyond 500m? If her Poneglyph knowledge is for some reason not accounted for, then low hundred millions.
Franky: 400m
Brook: 300m
Jinbe: High hundred mils or a bil
I make no claim that these will end up correct but it'll be cool to see how close I get on some when Wano ends in 2-3 years. I'm also factoring in that the SH's are less dangerous to civilians.
Hooray for AP! It's a big shame that it was down when Jimbei came back and joined; I would have loved to see the live reactions from folks here. I saw way too much angry bitching about it for some reason in some other places. :getlost: Still, to the folks in charge who got AP back and up running, thanks so much for all your efforts!
Since I'm assuming this thread can act as a reaction to both of the previous chapters, under the circumstances: Jimbeiiiiiiii  That made my heart so, so happy when he finally showed up. So excited to have him on the team going forward. On a different note, I liked in this chapter how Law showed that he's learned from experience with the Straw Hats. "Listen, those dummies are gonna Leeroy Jenkins the shit out of everything no matter what, so let's just include that in the plan from now on."
And Kid's reaction to Jimbei joining the Straw Hats kinda cracked me up, too. He's just like "C'mon, are you friggen for real right now?" Good luck continuing to try to pretend you're anywhere close to Luffy's equal, Kid. Though on a different note, that moment that showed that the other Kid Pirates have adopted Killer's laugh to show some solidarity with him was surprisingly sweet.
On the Jinbe joining topic: For me, it's one of those things likeā¦ The main thing people go for when they don't want him to join is they don't like his personality. For me his personality's always been fine, I've never gone crazy over it, but I've never had any negative reactions to it. But still, I can understand people wanting another weird person on the crew. Even though Jinbe's weird in a lot of ways, starting with the fact that he's a whaleshark fishman who knows karate. But regardless of all that. One thing that can't be denied is this dude's contributions. He's directly saved Luffy out of certain death situations at least twice. And then has saved the crew out of many dire situations. So like his personality or not, his contributions to the crew can't be denied. And for me, the crew's such a circus sometimes that a complete straight man is a great idea. And Jinbe's shown he's REALLY good at planning, so I'll be happy to get some uber-serious plans in the future.
On his joining moment (from other posters): He joined back in 2011. And again around 2016-2017. This was his "yay he's finally actually on the ship" moment. So all it's doing is cementing that he's on the crew, not meant to be some big moment.
YABADABADOO!!!! So glad Arlong Park is back! Thank you to those who had to deal with the issues to get things up and running especially during a time like this!
Seeing Jimbei there hugging and squeezing does my heart good! Seeing Carrot there s pretty cool and I thought it might have meant something if I didnāt see Wanda in the uncropped version. Then she didnāt get to join in with the brave 7 smashing up the lookout post. I guess sheās running back with Shishilian.
So much to talk about!
The Jinbe stuff was HIGHLY needed, I'm glad we're getting lots of needed moments. Would've sucked if Oda waited 'til Act 4 to bring him back.
Oh also, the popular "Jinbe will bring the Grand Fleet with him" theory has been dismantled.
Not that this is a complaint, but this weeks chapter ended with a bunch of shoes.
ā¦anyone else get a Bleach flashback or is it just me?
I totally did, lol.
Cool to see the forum back, thank you all for getting it back up.
First and foremostā¦ My heart goes out to the world of course, but Japan seems to be getting hit particularly hard, so... wishing everyone well over there.
Good chapter, it was great to see the Straw Hats back in action and, as I predicted, at the center of focus. Things are now back to as they should be, with the Straw Hats as the focus and the Scabbards and other side characters taking a backseat.
It looks like we'll be officially in Onigashima next chapter, and I've been waiting to see the full Flying 6 forever. More powerhouses for the Beast Pirates, can't wait.
Kaworu, I feel like defeated Admirals will come closer to the end of the series. Donāt have any particular reasons to back it up but an outright defeat this arc seems a bit early.
I imagine weāll get another stale mate or two before the world wide clash when they must go down. But the again I really donāt know. Will the Straw Hats mirror White Beard and his group? It seems almost certain Zoro, Sanji and Jinbe will handle the Admirals while Luffy tangos with the fleet admiral. Still some folks made some compelling arguments about Sabo defeating Akainu and Iām not sure where that places everyone else.
Admirals teaming up is probably not news worthy since they are already on the same team with the same resources shared. 2 Emperors command completely different armies that are spread out across multiple nations.
If I had to pull some bull ship numbers then Iād probably say Admirals are a 96 when Emperors are a 97. But what ever they are they all seem more than capable of a prolonged battle that could go either way.
I do also buy this notion as well, but for me, I'd prefer 1 admiral gets defeated in Wano. But then there is that spread in Marineford which would get a lovely parallel if all 3 (+1) are faced at once with the Monster Quad taking them all out at once. But, well, I also think Fujitora's gonna defect. So God knows, lol.
!
I did used to think Sabo could fight Akainu along with Luffy. But since Lucci got re-introduced with CP-0, I now think Sabo will be tied up with him, freeing Luffy up for Akainu.

But Luffy won't be defeating Kaido without help and I doubt Luffy will defeat any of the current admirals except maybe Borsalino. Issho is a good guy and while Green bull may not be, their is reason to believe that like Issho, he won't really be an antagonist. Sakazuki is the fleet admiral so that is a different story.
The only current admiral I can see Luffy defeating after Wano is Borsalino, but even that he probably won't do alone. Zoro or Sanji can help sure but more importantly, some of the "worst generation" captains need to get him back for what he did to them on Sabaody.
Funnily enough, I consider Borsalino just behind Akainu in strength. I'm just going with my gut of Ryokugyu being an antagonist, not really any way to say at this point.
I dunno, I think we just have a big dividing line here because I've always been under the impression the Marines and the Shichibukai were meant to counter-balance the Yonkou.
