It's pretty dumb to assume WB and his crew won't go to save their nakama. If they fail, then Ace would just feel even worse since he got all of his nakama killed. I'd see no plausible way he'd go from 2nd division commander to some random position on his little brother's crew. You're pushing it with Ace joining. He wouldn't join even if he didn't have his own pirate crew.

Ace will be the new crew member; mark my words. Whenever they need fire, he will be there to light a fire. Whenever Sanji needs a light for his cigarrette, Ace will be there. Ace will be the crew's bitch. hehe.
