@Nidhoeggr Wouldn't someone using Kuma's paw paw fruit be far more likely?
Kuma sent the strawhats to different places, back in Shaobondy (SP???), so i see no reason someone with his powers couldn't do the same to the poneglyphs.

The missed a perfect opportunity to have the statue depict "45 degrees" …
I first spotted [K-F]'s episode 147 and had no idea what it was. On a whim, i downloaded and watch it.
It peeked my interest so i downloaded 4 more and watched those: by the time i saw that OHKO VS Belamy, i was already hooked.
Then i tried watching all episodes, from the beginning … but i caught up and only then i found out this was the anime version of the manga ...
Started reading the manga from the beginning but i caught up by chapter 384, IIRC: been a fan ever since.
What are the current world wide rankings?
I'm assuming Marvel dominates the top with Spiderman and some such but how does One Piece fair against them?
It was said there are three races Big Mom didn't have in her Kingdom: giants, whatever race King belongs to and i think the third race is dragons. Big Mom said it herself that King's race, that is thought to be extinct, is not since he was right before her to prove it, so why not dragons?
Kaido's Title is "The Strongest Creature" and that mean's he's neither human nor giant: what if he's a dragon that ate the hito hito no mi, model giant? Basically, the same fruit as Chopper but giant version.
This would explain how he's able to transform in to such a huge human (except for the horns) and also in to a giant dragon when in dragon form because Chopper can transform in to a human … sort of ... and in to a standing-deer-like giant too.
A couple of problems with this theory:
1 - Chopper needs rumble ball to change in to "giant Chopper", but Robin said back when she 1st saw that form of Chopper's that she had heard of it before (she called it rampage of the devil fruit, IIRC) so that means it doesn't require rumble balls to "activate" because, to our knowledge, Chopper is the only one that makes them.
2 - the "can't move for a while after the effect of giant form wears off": Kaido has a significantly higher "grasp" of his fruit than Chopper does, which is why he seams unaffected after changing back in to a human after being a huge dragon. Kind of like Luffy with sea stone @ back in Alabasta, where he all but fainted, VS in Wano's prison mine.
Thoughts?
Dunno if this was mentioned before but i noticed this while re-reading Wano arc thus far: back when we met Koby and Alvida, Koby ended up fighting "the most beautiful woman in the world" (according to Alvida) and now he'll be fighting the REAL "most beautiful woman in the world" when he faces Boa Hancock.

Imagining the "Beast Pirates sign-up application" process:
Recruiter - Do you have an animal fruit? If yes, it's an instant pass but, if not, do not worry: there's this nice alternative called SMILE that gives you sort-of-animal fruit:
Then proceeds to showcase some "successful" examples such as Crab SMILE user, Lion head-in-stomach SMILE user, Hippo SMILE user …
Applicant - That's ... great ...
Isn't it just a punch? It's not some special technique. It's his innate strength.
I remember Robotnik talking about how he was a strong king not how he created some secret technique. And I don't think anyone refers it as technique rather than brute strength.
Don't think so: after all, Elizabello needs one hour preparation to be able to use the "full version". You know … the one that blew away Pica's huge statue airborne pieces that Zoro had cut ...
Now imagine Luffy using it in conjunction with his gears ... minus the preparation time, ofc: a gear 2 pistol with "light version" could possibly be as strong as a "hakified" gear 3 elephant gun (or something along those lines), and if you scale that all the way to gear 4's attacks ... well ... you get the picture ...
Luffy's next "upgrade" will be Elizabello's King Punch incorporated into his attacks: why else would Oda have Luffy directly comment on it during the tournament? Oda even gave us a hint via Gatz: "the punch is supposed to take down an emperor, but only if it connects".
I figure the "light version" for Luffy's "regular" attacks and the "full version" for the more heavy hitting attacks. Obviously, Luffy won't need an hour to "recharge" …
Shiryu is the established swordsman, so it's generally been assumed he'll be Zoro's opponent. And he just got the invisibility fruit.
Sanji has already fought invisibilty fruit. It'd be really dull for him to get that again.
Not really: Being a swordsman favors Zoro as the opponent but the invisibility fruit is pretty much irrelevant.
Think of it this way: as far as Admiral Fujitora is concerned, every single opponent is "using an invisible fruit" as well as whatever fruit they are using. If Fujitora can do it, and we're expecting Zoro / Sanji to be able to fight off (or even defeat) an Admiral by the time the StrawHats face BlackBeard Pirates, i see no reason whoever faces Shiryu wont.
I think those levels are managed by the amounts of smiles the users consume. My theory is that smile have no permanent effects and control gets better the more smiles you consume. That's why Don flamingo mass produced them.
Don't think anyone can eat more then one smile, much the same way they can't eat two devil fruits.
Doflamingo "mass produced" them in order for more of Kaido's men to become smile users, supposedly: not to have users eat multiple smile fruits.
Perhaps the effects of smiles are proportionate to the fruit's perfection: if you remember back in the factory (Dressrosa) most of the smile fruits had imperfections on them, which is why the dwarves were being wipped.
I think i figured out why Oda seems to have changed the way smiles work: he actually hasn't.
There are 3 known types of Smile users:
1 - those with two horns have fully bonded with their smile fruit, can fully control their fruit's animal and have it "spawn" from a body part of their choosing (so far, only arm was shown but i wouldn't be surprised if other limbs could do it too)
2 - those with only one horn have partially bonded with their smile fruit and supposedly can only partially control their fruit's "spawning": not sure on this one, but it makes sense it works this way
3 - those that bonded badly with the smile and have the animal permanently on, such as the hippo guy, the horse woman or the lion guy: obviously, some have worse "luck" than others and it seems hippo guy took the short straw …
What if the one to defeat Kaido is none other than Usopp, via one of Tama's Ki-bi-Dango ball's? It would be hilarious if the weakest Strawhat defeated the strongest creature in the world.
Obviously, it wouldn't be "that simple" and the whole alliance would need to play their part in Kaido being distracted enough for Usopp to actually pull it off, plus he would have to fire it from an impossible even longer distance than when he knocked out Sugar for the 2nd time, back in Dressrosa, but without Viola's help this time.
as Tarek and Faith said his name has always been "Kid". You can check his bounty posters and stuff to see proof.
If people want to make up theories that Eustass Kid has a secret middle name he didn't tell anyone about I'm not going to try and stop them however his name is spelled "Eustass Kid" see my earlier post
I personally doubt Eustass Kid has a secret D name because from what we have seen of him he doesn't seem the type to hide it but what I do know for sure is that "Eustass Kid" is the correct spelling as given by Oda on more than one occasion (both on wanted posters and on the intro pages)!
This has happen with Law, so it's not something new: when Law was introduced back in Saobondy, there was no "D." in his name.
I never said it was badly translated: i just said it's possible that Oda is trolling us and his name is actually "Kid D.". So far, every time Kid's name came up has always been "Kid", to my knowledge.
I do agree with you that i find it unlikely for Kid to hide the "D.", personality wise, but that doesn't mean Oda won't pull it off: unknown @ this time.
Has the official translation clarified whether it’s Kidd or Kid.
P.s. Does anyone else have this problem of having to keep logging into Arlong Park every time you switch tabs
It could be one of those instances where Oda is deliberately vague: perhaps it's "Eustace Kid D."?
When Law was introduced, we never saw the "D.", and yet he had it all along: we only found out during Corazon's flashback, when his full name was revealed.
We all got hyped from that quote, only to see Elizabello's punch didn't even kill Blue Gilly although he got that punch straight to the face…
I doubt that punch can scratch Big Mom or Kaidou, not to mention "take them out"…
Well … there Elizabello's version ... and there's Luffy's version.
Furthermore. as evidenced by the "cleaning up of an already cut Pica statue", is an "area of effect" attack.
The next Luffy evolution will have him incorporate Elizabello's King Punch in all of his attacks, from the gomu gomu no Pistol all the way to gomu gomu Kong Organ, plus whatever other attacks Oda gives him.
Why else would Oda show us Luffy's reaction to Elizabello's punch? Obviously, Luffy won't need the "one hour preparation time", or can just use the "light version" for his more basic attacks and the "full version" for the more heavy hitting ones.
Besides, this punch is "supposed to take out a Yonko … if it connects", right? @ least that's what Elizabello's tactician Dagama said, right?
Somehow i get the feeling Oda is preparing a gigantic cliffhanger, literally.
I predict next chapter will be about Lev Ely only or regarding Nekomamushi's search for Marco and it will be quite some time before we next see a chapter about what's happening in Wano.
That was an interesting read. It went from a reasonable translation philosophy that I just disagree with, to fanwank (by the second slide on Nakama out of three). I can't imagine any reason every not to translate mikan though. I must be lucky to have never come across a version that left that untouched.
Attack names for me, personally, are very context driven. Most of them for One Piece are puns, but Oda also likes to use words from a language that matches the character, with most of the more Japanese ones coming from characters with Japanese coded islands (Zoro, Jinbei, ect). There's a fine balance of working the puns where possible and keeping the terminology surrounding a character consistent with their background. Both options reflect the author's intent in different ways.
I'm Portuguese, but i never once read One Piece in my language: always in English.
Perhaps that's why somethings bug me with the translations while others don't? Dunno, really.
It definitely predated the end of the Arlong arc. I don't remember if they used "nakama" before Dythim came along, but there was an announcement about halfway through Arlong that they would be leaving more words untranslated in an effort to teach the fandom some Japanese and hopefully give them a greater appreciation for the story.
Dythim was a perfectionist who cared deeply about making each episode the best release possible, so laziness was never a factor (the third movie went through QC over _s__even times_ for example).
Episode 38. Here are a bunch of screenies of that episode describing their reasoning (@ the beginning of the episode): https://imgur.com/a/NwLDxit
On a personal note, the change from the translated moves to un-translated, other than a note on the top / bottom with explanation, as needed, was a welcomed one. I never had any problems with words such as "nakama", "mikan", "shichibukai" and other such words, with the exception of "ojousama" (SP??), which very much predates this announcement.
OTOH, i very much do have a problem with changing of names: bugs the hell out of me. Examples like "Zoro" VS "Zolo" or "Luffy" VS "Ruffy". Unless there was a translation error, due to insufficient information, such as the case with "reverie" or "Jurakule Mihawk": this is different because it's correcting an unintended mistake and, while it still bugs me, doesn't do so as much.
A similar situation occurred when the Chopper's VA got sick and was substituted for a few episodes by another person: i'm so used to Chopper "being Chopper" that anyone else voicing the character just seems plain wrong. I'd probably say the same thing if the roles were reversed and the original VA was the one they switched to. No disrespect intended to either VAs, ofc.
I remember the time when Mihawk was introduced: he was called "Jurakule Mihawk" (I think i'm writing it right) … IIRC, i was reading translations from NULL @ the time.
It was many years later that we learned his real name is "Dracule" ...
A much more recent example would be "Reverie": for years it was spelled "Reverie" but now it turns out it's "Lev Ely" instead. Will they keep the wrong name "for continuity"?
There's Bonney's fruit too.
Tsuru's maybe? Not really sure. Wondering if Betty can use it on herself for self-motivation though. If it does then that fruit would be a miracle for a college student cramming for finals.
There is Mansherry.
And Law to a certain extent.
Hand't thought of Tsuru's: seems you're correct. Because of how we think the fruit works, using it on herself would incapacitate her, no?
Mansherry's fruit: right. That one too: haven't seen that fruit being used on herself, yet.
Bonney and Law don't count because we've seen those being used on the user himself (Bonney turning to a kid and Law removing bullets on himself).
I have a question (dunno if already asked by someone else): is Belo Betty's fruit the 1st one that affects others, as in, not the user but those around her?
Unless i'm forgetting some known DF, this is a 1st, no?
Interesting as in being a traitor after one fight?
I feel like Pages 7 and 8 were pretty unnecessary given where the last chapter ended. Seeing the immediate aftermath didn't add anything in my opinion. We get…the attacks retracting? It would've been much more interesting to see Luffy in the hole right next to the 12:37 panel. The last few chapters were great but I guess the Katakuri stans just need to accept that his durability isn't particularly high compared to Luffy fighting for the majority of the last 36 hours. Luffy took way more punishment and Katakuri is the worse for wear.
Bege's eye looks especially creepy in his panel. I'm not even sure what type of expression he's supposed to have.
That actually makes sense: Katakuri's whole "game" is not taking dmg by way of dodging so it's natural that his "durability" isn't as well developed as the rest of his skills.
@Best:
I don't think that Oda meant that this ONE person by itself will top the war, but maybe the future things that will occure because of that character and his intentions.
No way in hell one character alone will be stronger than 3 Yonkous, Marines, etc.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---yeah, but that's because we don't have much time left lol
the "legend" will probably be mentioned at the Reverie
Could it be stronger to date?
Not the strongest period, but the strongest SWP ever came across, up until now?
That would still make it stronger then Akainu, so there's that …
@Galaxy:
Well… they're actually still doing it, but via an "opt-in".
I'm not getting that: maybe it's the addons i'm using that block that, dunno.
I'm OK with it if it requires one to accept it (only if one purposely accepts) but not if it's done "covertly", as in without one's knowledge, like it was when i started this topic.
EDIT
It's under the "remove adds" section. Hadn't seen it because i use ublock origin + ghostery for that.
@Shobu:
You created a beast and now you want to kill it D:
The reason for this topic is gone and the replies mostly have nothing to do with it anyway so, i sure do!
Since MangaStream removed the mining script, how about closing this topic?
@Mr.:
Which addon is this?
This addon: https://imgur.com/a/rLBDr
EDIT
Just noticed now that they aren't using the mining script anymore. Odd: it was being used yesterday!
The warning is good to know. So thank you.
But here's why it doesn't matter.
Any scan site that you visit is benfitting from your access by virtue of you accessing it.
So nobody should have a problem with this.
It's accepted that you are literally contributing to someone's wealth by accessing that material.
Even if there was a location w/o ads or mining, you are thereby adding fame which can easily be monetized in this age.
So, good on ya HTC. It's important info. But visiting scan sites is having the same result one way or another.
Dunno if it's the case in this particular situation but suggest you read this article.
And yet, in spite of this and in spite of their shoddy, first-draft tier scripts, they still ask for donations. Even if they did hire the proofreader they so obviously need, they still wouldn't deserve it.
I appreciate getting an early look at the chapter as much as anyone here, but they really shouldn't be getting money for it in any way, shape or form. There aren't people out there who actually give these guys money, is there?
Those unaware of the mining script are doing just that while using their site.
Explain what's bad about that and explain why you're still using mangastream.
While you're reading the manga, the site's owner gets your PC's power (dunno if CPU only or if it also taps into GPU) to run a bit of bitcoin mining. However small it is for a single person, it adds up with the amount of traffic the site gets, thus they get money out of it.
That's how i understood it, anyway.
So says the mining blocker addon i'm using with firefox 57.
This is just a heads up!
Only noticed it today: hadn't notice it before.
I usually read One Piece (and others) from MangaStream's. Went to check if new manga had been released and … surprise ... mining script blocked ...
Just to nitpick what was an otherwise good chapter: wasn't the face scar on Luffy's "clones" supposed to be on the other side?
I wonder why this particular chapter is still stickied even though we're 6-7 chapters ahead already …
@Dr.:
One Piece never fails to amaze. What a chapter!
But there're sure some questions still unanswered. The spoiler said only Big Mom knows Pudding's true nature, i assume mangastream just screwed up with "only my family members", otherwise i don't know what to make of the scene with Tamago where she was anxious to get away. And otherwise, if only Big Mom really knows her why did she behave like that in front of Opera one day before the marriage?
This scene is happening before or after Reiju's scene in last chapter? If it's happening before how did she get away? Pudding would have no reason to let her escape and tell everything to the Vinsmoke, so either Sanji intervene in the next chapter or the scene in the last one was a sort of "Pudding chasing, somehow, Reiju".
Why did Pudding told everything to Luffy and Nami? to what practical purpose excluding pure sadistic satisfaction?-edit Even the flashback with Lola escaping to search her freedom makes little sense if all we've seen in this chapter is true.
I think we should still wait some chapters and get some confirmations before we jump immediatly to conclusions, chances are she's really some crazy evil girl, but until Big Mom herself confirms it i'll still have some doubts.
The way i interpreted it was that family members know of her real personality but the other inhabitants of Whole Cake Island do not.
I wonder how Sanji will get out this perdicament:
He's against attacking a "lady", even if it means death but, short of someone else interfering, either he let's his sister get killed or he stops pudding, which can only be done by attacking her.
Someone correct me if i'm wrong but, unless next chapter leaks early then "expected", this is the last chapter of 2016.
http://mangastream.com/r/one_piece/845/3771/1
NO CHAPTER NEXT WEEK … DAMMIT ... right when it was starting to get interesting ...
@Count:
Breaks are always called hiatuses. Don't worry, Oda's not pulling a Togashi.
I always assumed a break is 1 week long and a hiatus is MORE then 1 week long.
If you're right, then it's much better.
OP is on hiatus after 842. Early release this week.
Hiatus???? As in longer then 1 week?

Chapter 101. Doesn't have to be planned but wow.
@ 1st glance it's indeed wow but, acording to what i have, it's a little different and makes more sense with the rest of the dialogue in the page (which is out from view in your pic, btw).
On the other hand, your pic is from a book and not from scanlation like mine is so … perhaps someone more versed in Japanese can help out here.
@Sang:

More comedic effect then anything, LOL
@Count:
[qimg]http://www.onepiecegold.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/SBS66_5_SH_Blood_Types.png[/qimg]
Sanji's blood type is rare lol. Just because Chopper ran out of S- blood doesn't mean that it isn't a rare blood type compared to all the others. And Jinbe (the inevitable tenth Straw Hat) shares the same blood type as Luffy, hence why they could transfuse blood at the end of Fishman Island.
I stand corrected.
LOL @ Brook having a blood type … does he even have blood?
@Dr.:
I doubt he's a cyborg, or he would know. Maybe for some characteristics of his body he could not be upgraded, i remember in Fishman Island has been said that he has a rare blood type. Or maybe as a kid he wasn't interested in fighting, only in cooking, and refused the operation, tho i don't think Judge is above forcing his decisions on his children if that would come to serve him in the future.
Well… yes. But it's true nonetheless, some characters in the past have driven the fandom to endless speculations whether they will change side and help the main characters, like Monet and Sugar. I'm not denying the possibility of her being different and helping Sanji, but i just take her ambiguous beheaviors with a grain of salt.
The only scenario i can see something like that happening is if the deal between BM and the Vinsmoke went really bad and the yonkou would decide to punish and annihilate them.
IIRC, Sanji's blood type is not rare @ all: it's just that he lost so much of it both travelling from Shaboady as well as on Fisman Island that Chopper had already used all he had available, which is why he was in such a desparate need for more.
Luffy's blood type also doesn't seem to be rare: it just so "happens" that he's the only one in the crew that currently has it, for now …
I may be speculating but it seems to me that the quadruplets aren't clones but were "done things to" when they were younger (possibly right after birth) and, for whatever reason, Sanji's "upgrade" didn't work while with the others it did. This would explain why Sanji was unable to properly attack his siblings (look @ what happened when he punched Ichiji) and also why Judge keeps calling him "a dud".
I've been thinking about how BM's able to have so much information regarding Sanji's past as well as the Sanji's rescue party: what if she has someone with her that tells her stuff about whomever she needs to know about? Think Sugar-like broken hax fruit but, instead of toy-turning + dissapear from memory, it's info-gathering + whatever else Oda comes up with.
Obviously, "nobody knows" about this fruit user, much like "nobody knew" about Sugar, which is why Sugar was so dangerous in the 1st place.
She knows stuff about Sanji even the other strawhats don't know, such as his lineage as well as where he was during time-skip. It would also explain how BM can pose a threat to anyone of a specific individual's aquantancies: in this specific case, Baratie's head chef Zeff.
@Dr.:
An unpopular confession about One Piece? Well, here it is, Skypiea (plus Jaya) is my favourite arc in the whole manga. Why is it so? Because i think it's the arc that most resemble what One Piece should really be about. Adventure. There were no connection with the WG or with other parties of the world up there, only an adventure in a strange dream land which hid a great treasure
A legend about a city made of gold which Noland claimed it existed centuries ago, the dream of a land in the sky, the mystery of Noland's diary "I saw gold in the right eye of a skull", the scene of the knock up stream and Merry's flight through the clouds… i was so thrilled and excited to know what lied beyond those clouds...
Then a land made of clouds, and a great treasure hunt on a forbidden island up there made of soil, which turned out it was half Jaya blasted in the sky, guarded by an invulnerable being who should supposedly be God.
I loved every bit of that arc. And it was the only arc where the Straw hats really came back with some gold, worth of 300 million Berry.
--edit-- The story of Noland and Calgara about progress and how religion is self destructive was astonishing toop.s. I also agree that Fishman Island is a criminally underrated arc, thematically it was the most mature arc of the series.
I totally agree (about Skypeia) but keep in mind that, until somewhat recently, there were many who claimed "don't bother with Skypeia arc and just skip to Water Seven": seems to me that most of those that claimed this have had a "change of heart" …
Perhaps the same will be said later on about Fishman Island? Personally, i don't think so, but you never know ...
