I have a theory on the happenings of One Piece that is probably wrong just like everyone else's theory. I believe in the Hindu theory of Hanuman/Rama, Ravana, and Trisiras being the basis for Luffy, Imu, and Blackbeard respectively (see 333vil for more information). I think the relationship though between Imu and Joyboy is much different than people think. Imu may be female, I can't promise that. I think they once had aligned goals. Freedom could have been lost in a high-tech society and Imu and Joyboy could have both pushed and rebelled... trying to get a reset. They could have had a different opinion on how the world should have existed after the Ancient Kingdom was brought down. Joyboy may have pushed for complete freedom, where the spontaneous generation ruled and people could carry out their lives. Imu on the other hand may have had other plans, to force the world to remain in a pre-tech phase with he/she as the leader. I think Imu basically stabbed Joyboy in the back and his will lives on in Luffy. I think Joyboy was actually the original pirate, had the eye patch and everything. Both he and Imu teamed against the Ancient Kingdom, but Imu turned on him and used the ancient weapon Uranus and some sort of mighty devil fruit in order to control the world(along with the OP OP for immortality). People keep thinking that Joyboy was the head of the Ancient Kingdom, and I'm just not feeling that vibe. Remember, Joyboy was a pirate. He had a crew. Imu could have been his first mate or something. I feel there were bad things about the Ancient Kingdom and the two plotted against it and overthrew it, only for Joyboy to be subsequently turned on.
