Manga that was good because of character development becomes bad because it focuses on no stakes low character investment battles instead. I still remember being really salty about Aldini losing to the copy guy. Not going to lie in a lot of ways this whole thing has given me a lot of Bleach flashbacks especially with the tendency of creating characters that go to the garbage bin after their battle.
That's a pretty good comparison!
Hey Greg, would it be possible for you to show this video game area to Oda sometime?
It's my favorite video game area of all time, and it's nearly impossible for Oda to have seen it. There's pictures of it floating around too if he can only look at a picture.
A man of culture, I see!
Saw Ant Man and the Wasp today. I enjoyed it more than the first Ant Man. It was a nice palette cleanser after Infinity War for sure
Evil Goten couldve ended up at the level of Tobi being Obito imo.
Could've called him Tengo Black
Basically Souma's father was crushed under the pressure of trying to tame the wilds of cooking, and a brilliant chef was lost. So Aizen wants to "save" everyone by creating one true path of cooking so no other chefs are lost to the harshness of creativity.
Not saying it makes sense, but that's what I'm getting out this
In terms of writing, Im going with the ToP, the arc was lucky the animation was top notch for the important scenes like MUI Goku vs Jiren, give ToP animation to the Zamasu Arc and its Namek Saga level imo.
Evil Future Goten was my vote
I had a really great time with Infinity War! I'm curious how people who aren't super into the MCU feel about the film.
Momo, Eizan & Urara are all in the same panel. Momo & Eizan are looking toward Urara who is still acting very nice. They are talking secretly about someone who is affected by the syrup & Momo say it is cuter that way if that someone stay that way.
It's not hard to figure out who they are talking about.
I don't have the japanese raw so I don't know what is the term used to refer to the subject. But I got a feeling it is another case of gender neutral pronoun. The translator isn't sure is the subject a he/she so it is translated as 'them'.
Considering how Momo & Eizan are talking behind Urara's back, they didn't want to make it obvious they are talking about her.
And just a few panels back, Eishi & Rindou were talking about the 'fatigue' issue & they never mention anything about Momo helping them overcome it.
You are absolutely correct about this panel! Just to clarify with you
I'm curious how wrestling fans feel about Ronda Rousey. I'm an MMA guy, so I'm genuinely curiously to see what the reaction is like.
@Cyan:
Zamasu just debuted in the dub of Super.
He's voiced by James Marsters under a union-dodging alias.
good ol' Piccolo
Makes sense, thanks.
! It's actually that he needed the eternal flame to possess his full powers to destroy Asgard, which Loki used to resurrect him at the end.
Awesome chapter, can't wait for the next one!
I was kind of waiting for Belmond to be the big reveal of who killed Jiren's master lol
French too, definitely Katakuri sounds better.
Dogtooth sounds very bad.
To be fair, he's actually named after a flower
Indeed; Loki, Vulture, Ego, Hela, and Ultron are my top 5 as far as MCU villains go. For me it's probably Loki > Vulture > Ego >> Hela > Ultron >>> Everybody Else.
The "Everybody Else" probably has their own ranking in there too, but I mostly just remember them as "Everybody who wasn't nearly as memorable as the top 5". I'd put Malekith on the very bottom (it says a lot where, not only do I barely remember him, but when I name-drop him to other people, they'll be like "Who was he again? Which one was he the bad guy of again?"), and Ronan (despite loving the movie he was in) and Whiplash were two others I mostly just remember feeling very "meh" about. Zemo just annoys me as a villain because his plan was so convoluted and stupid and should not have worked, and only did because the plot wanted it to.
I know people dislike Iron Man 2 overall, but Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer always cracks me up.
@Yuugi's:
Besides, Miyazaki and Disney are nowhere near the pinnacle of good animation. Miyazak in general takes the best animators in the industry and has them produce their worse work.
What would you say is the pinnacle of good animation? I am genuinely curious.
Am I the only one that liked Pirates 5 more than any comic book movies this year? I had more fun with the guillotine scene than I did with the entirety of Guardians 2, Wonder Woman, Spider-man, or Thor. It also helps that it has been six years since the last one, rather than having five of them a year.
I honestly forgot that it came out this year >_>

Amazing art isn't it?
It really is. It's fucking hilarious lol

Thanks for this. Great vid.
Make sure to tell him he being dumped for pokemon!
Well I really haven't watched the anime since… the voice actors changed. So back when it was still May and before Dawn. I saw maybe two episodes with Iris and still haven't seen any with the new girl.
If they've been better about it since, good for them, but they really didn't give a shit the first ten years, they just did whatever looked good, including making stuff up and doing things you just can't do in the games. And typing never ever ever actually decided a battle, no matter how much they said "good strategy." Either as a strength or a weakness, it was always just a mon's will. Right down to Muk being super effective against Bellsprout when it... isn't.
Especially with Pikachu.
True enough, they've been better overall with the consistency of battles lately, but Pikachu did just recently take out a Tyranitar and Metagross while tanking a bunch of hits. I do miss the days of Bulbasaur having about 10 different moves
Maybe it's something more recent then, but I'm pretty certain that during DP all pokés consistently had 4 moves, and whenever they learned a new one, one of the old ones would stop being used.
Yup, they've been very consistent with the 4 move limit since even around the time of The Battle Frontier arc I feel. Although in the old days Pokemon used whatever the hell they wanted.
Another unfortunate victim of the Worf Effect…....much like Tien, Krillen, Roshi, & Yamcha.
I mean realistically didn't his actual character arc end after he sacrificed his life Gohan? Not much to do after that I guess
He actually DID grow and mature and get better for a while. He spent most of Johto curb stomping the early gyms (because they hadn't gotten int he habit of just dropping all his mons off at Oaks at that point) and when May was around he was the older more experienced trainer. They seem to reset that now pretty regularly. Of course, I haven't really watched the show in a decade now.
This current run has actually been very good in terms of character development and the animation is pretty slick these days especially compared to some of the old cardboard cutout-style animation battles. :ninja:
It would be nicer if we got a new hitmon. What martial arts are left to explore?
Machamp and probably bewear and poliwrarh is wrestling
Hitmonchan is boxing
Hitmonlee is tae kwon do
Hitmontop is capoeira
Hariyama and probably emboar is sumo
Throh is judo
The other one is karate
Mineshao is some kung fu
Lucario is hermit turtle school
Galade is some krav mag with knifes
Blaziken and mega lopuny is kickboxing
Infernape is monkey kung fu
Pangoro and scrafty is Japanese delinquent styles, boss and punk
Primeape is street fighting
The musketeers
Chesanaugth a Knight
Medichamp some yoga mystic warrior
Heracross a fighting beetle as in the inspiration for pokemon
Meloeta some dance figth style
No idea about croakgun concredurr or brellom
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu needs some love!

Anyways, I saw this theory on reddit. Alola Marowak's description on Coro Coro says it evolved like that to protect itself from its predators in Alola. So, judging from its new typing (Fire/Ghost), the theory is that this predators would actually be Bewears trying to hug crying Cubones. They would be trying to comfort them, but since they can't control their force… Ghost type would be immune to Bewear and Fire attacks cause extra damage on it because of its Fluffy ability.
Sounds legit lol
Was this video posted already?
!
I could have sworn we saw a normal version in the player's house in a previous vid.
i believe the MC moves to Alola at the beginning of the game.

It's actually Mimikkyu
@Cyan:
"Kapu" is the ancient Hawaiian code of conduct and law, meaning roughly "forbidden". The kind of laws that if you break one, you will be put to death. It's related to "Tapu" (and I think are derived from the same stem) and these days is written on signs as the Hawaiian equivalent to KEEP OUT.
The only things I'm seeing for "Kokeko" is some form of Japanese sweet.
You can also use kapu kinda like "dibs" colloquially
Kokekokko is the sound a rooster makes in Japanese too.
!
Hagishiri kinda reminds me of our state fish but maybe not…

Not only another mongoose, but apparently it will have a snake rival too ("Yungoos is not a Pokémon that is native to the Alola region. It was brought to the region to help deal with the explosive population of a certain other Pokémon"), huh? How original… But, to be honest, I like its description and its ability will be really interesting in competitive play.
To be fair it makes sense, we have a lot of mongoose in Hawaii. But they were brought to eat rats so maybe it'll have a rat rival lol
At this rate if they ever do Amadeus Cho, I'm certain they'll make him white.
To be fair, his mom is played by a Korean actress in the MCU…
who was mind-controlled and blasted by Ultron...
Omg that is brilliant lol
Amazing series. Highly recommend that everyone checks it out!
Possble Civil War spoiler from the toys.
! Giant Man imminent???
http://screenrant.com/captain-america-3-ant-man-giant-scene-civil-war/
Next we have . . . . . a Deadpool Yule Log via Ryan Reynolds:
I think I'm missing something. Some other joke than the obvious "it's a burning paper bag instead of a log" joke. Anybody else catching it?
A log is also a slang term for poop. And a common prank is to leave a flaming bag of poop on a doorstep and ring the doorbell. The prankee would instinctively stomp out the flaming bag only to cover their foot in shit.
Saw it, it was nice.
! I actually think that they could have bee a lot more gratuitous with the callbacks, I was expecting worse, so I'm more or less okay. During the whole smuggler negotiation thing, I actually expected Han to shoot first but that didn't happen.
! The new characters are really great, Finn's panicked earnestness against Rey's more serious reliability. They really help to ease the fact that a lot of stuff got repeated. About Han Solo, his end was great, really brought his character full circle with the poetry. Remember Obi Wan asking Han "Who is more foolish, the fool or the fool that follows him?"
! I agree with TLC that the Death Star 3 was pretty much forgotten when it got blown up.Poe just gets in there, starts shooting, whatever, back to Kylo Ren. There should have been someway to have this movie without throwing in a Starkiller, that's the only thing that just really didn't work for me. Also, they show the planet being -this- close to the sun, how the hell is it a winter planet? Maybe it might have been an interesting idea to have one side really cold, and one side really hot, because it never turns, but it's just a cold planet.
! Kylo Ren is great and funny too, the humour in general works well. Kylo had to toe the line between "tantrum throwing insecure vader idoliser" and "actual dangerous threat to get away from". Whether he works as both, I'm not quite sure yet. Villain wise Captain Phasma didn't do anything, I'm expecting her to pop up again next movie. But the stormtroopers in general are much better. It's been somewhat of a joke that they always miss, but that's not been the case this movie.
! Lightsaber fights. I'm a fan of kung fu movies, I'm planning to see Ip Man 3 too, and I have to agree that the prequel fights were pretty meh. There wasn't any…rhythm, just fancy moves strung together. This movie didn't care about choreography much, but that's okay, because the lightsaber parts are very frantic and tense.
! Nice
! Oh well, time to wait for next Christmas.
! The Starkiller base was able to move
My favorite non spoiler review so far. Chris did a fantastic job.
Thanks for this, subscribed
I think it's supposed to, it happened in the 60's. In DOFP the past part was in the 70's. So the events of FC should still be fully intact, before and after the wibbly wobbly timey whimey….stuff.
In the original XMen Prof. X talked about finding Magneto as a child during the war I believe. That really killed the fact that the two movies were supposed to line up for me.
! like gowther was always the commandment or fraudrin possessed him when they last fought??
I can see him jumping and flying like a jet into the sun.
Turn into a jet
Bomb the Russians
Crash into the Sun
Now I'm dead
chapters 39 & 40 are out on crunchyroll
i can't wait to see where will go from here
Thanks, been waiting for this!
