I became a fan of One Piece fairly recently, having watched every single episode in the span of about two months. I have no plans to read the manga, at least not past the point where the show currently is. I'd personally rather have my first experience with each event in the story be with the anime. Because. Reasons. Also I like terrible puns (My Nickname for Zoro is Mr. Action, because he's very action-y, and if you say it out loud it becomes Misdirection :P) and hamsters (they're totes adorbz) and programming video games (in Gamemaker, but I've been doing it for several years so my games are excell-amazing.). I'm actually not much of an anime fan beyond One Piece. Unless you count Homestuck as an anime, which I don't.
Also, I was inches away from accidentally watching the 4kids dub instead of the english subbed version. So… that's lucky I guess.

Idiotic theories aside he is obviously alive. Dragon save some one during the flashback (implied to be Sabo) and the "decks of the world" for Ace and Whitebeard had the three sake cups that Ace Luffy and Sabo drank from (Which now only he and Luffy know about). Also Ace and Whitebeard died so you should put an almost never there.
But the last time he was seen was when he got blown up right?

If Sabo's alive, then Ace is to, Oda never killed anybody, but since it was in a flashback, he's dead.
The last few episodes have actually covered more that a single chapter each. The fact that not much went on in the manga at this point other than fighting is what makes it less is being covered.
