RE: The next arc: what will it be?
@Deicide the thing is that it's not set in stone who the final villain will be and, if it's the WG (and not BB or Shanks(?)) I don't see Marie Geoise happening now because that would probably turn into SH vs WG so first there's need for setup.
I'm also of the opinion that the One Piece will have been found before the last war against the WG seeing it contains information we need to understand the importance of said war. Therefor i think the vs BB will be first.

RE: The next arc: what will it be?
It's anyone's guess really. I just hope that Sabo and Vivi will be there and we get to know exactly what happened at Revery.

RE: Yamato's Role in the Story
@electricmastro he idolizes Oden so that he actually wants t be him. This is not only his great feats. Oden also did quite ridiculous things. That's why I fell yamato needs to move on from the whole Oden-schtick and be his own person.
-
RE: Yamato's Role in the Story
Living like Oden is actually not good. Great guy 'n all but dancing like a fool for years only to obviously be backstabbed, leaving his country, boiling to death are actually not such great accomplishments...

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
@Gizmo She's only 8. Against the beast pirates she had some use but I don't see the SH's carrying an 8yo into all out war. At least no willingly.

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
@Gizmo so, that would mean before the end game there'd need to be another time skip? Personally I don't see what purpose that would serve.

@Vongola_Boss_XI Let's all hope that doesn't happen.

RE: Chapter 1,047: The Sky Over the Capital
In typical Oda fashion, the WG will recognize Law and Kidd as Luffy's underlings or something.
I mean imagine Law's crew being seen as the same as Luffy or BB and the only crewmate besides him who is somewhat capable being Bepo, lol.
Bepo?
Whoever are you talking about? It rings a bell, like Denjiro, but I just can't really put a face to either of them.

How many lanterns does one need to hold up an actual island? Also, I find it weird some seem to think this is a way of the island. Does anybody have any experience with these lanterns? I have and you can't even hang a squirrel on there without it coming crashing down. I know this is not reality but come on …

RE: Chapter 1,046: Raizo
Would you not run away from a lion-turtle with gouged out eyes and high heels, and a heavily dismembered jaguar?
Not really, no. I'd probably call a vet.
I would, however, run away from something ominous like a giant being like San Juan Wolf who is of course not shown but can easily be in the background where we can't see him in this picture.
My guess is: Lafitte, Shilliew and San Juan Wolf. Lafitte and Shilliew might get a reaction like that without San Juan Wolf though but I'd just like him to be there.
Why BB pirates?1: Pudding might be able to read poneglyphs anytime soon and BB still probably lacks in that department
2: Steal poneglyphs or at least make a copy
3: Steal interesting Devil Fruits
4: Severely weaken Big Mom's reputation (after she has been beaten by Luffy's coalition also has Totland itself being attacked and partly/totally destroyed)
5: BB is an opportunist that won't shy away from taking any chance to get ahead. He likes being in Luffy's wake, taking advantage of situations he created. He follows Luffy, ends up capturing Ace which leads to Luffy going to ID to free Ace which makes BB take advantage and recruit powerful crew members. Ace's capture leads to war between marines and WB and again BB takes advantage to kill WB and take his fruit. Luffy goes to Totland and gets Big Mom herself to follow him to Wano and now a certain person arrives at Totland…<BB also knows Big Mom is gone and that Totland without Big Mom is much easier to invade. Depending on the timing of this cover story, Katakuri and Cracker might not even be at full power either. Then who is there to oppose them? No one I can think of.
BB is like a scavenger, swooping in after Luffy was somewhere and taking whatever it was he wanted with the least amount of effort necessary.
-
RE: Chapter 1,046: Raizo
I hope no one is seriously expecting to get to know who those shadowed figures are within the cover story itself?
If it's the rest of the vinsmokes (I don't see how they would warrant a reaction like that from the people) it's just not very interesting at all and if it's anyone else taking advantage of Big Mom being absent that WOULD warrant the fleeing reaction the people seem to have (BB for instance) it will not get revealed in a cover story at all. We will just see the Vinsmokes escaping (perhaps aided by the chaos) and a destroyed Totland island in the background leaving it ambiguous until it's touched upon in the actual story. Perhaps in a "From the decks of the world" type news chapter.
It can also not be Pekoms and Pedro, again, because of the reactions of the crowd.

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
At the end of Wano, the country shall be opened up and protected under Luffy's flag. It will be under his protection and that of his armada. There is really no need for Yamato to stay there at all. Who knows, maybe even Zunesha will stay there as protection.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I’m probably beating a dead horse with this but I am very curious as to what Oda is planning with Weevil and if he actually still remembers him.
He is playing cards with Denjiro until the plot needs them again.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Yes.
Zoro didn't say he would become Satan. He said he would become the King of Hell, like Enma.
Some would argue satan IS the king of Hell but I guess different mythologies might differentiate those 2. I'm wondering where this weird storyline with Zoro is going. As some have mentioned the most logical assumption would be that the guy with the scyth is the manifestation of the sword Enma. On the other hand, why would the manifestation of a sword be a guy with a scyth? Sound weird to me. Unless Enma is actually a sword with a sense of humour wanting to freak Zoro out.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
That is nonsense and green bull should have a powerful fruit like Issho. My guess is radiation.
of course, it wasn't a seriois theory. Would be funny to see someone acrually having the fruit and using it completely different though
.
Also, radiation? That might be seriously overpowered. Just going aroind melting everyone, burning of their skin and such. Now I think of it, maybe quite gruesome too. -

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
I feel Tama crying with Nami this chapter is yet one more indication and her not really having many ties holding her in Wano anymore + Ace's promise to her really makes her the greatest contender for joining the crew. The only thing holding her back in my eyes is her age. it would be pretty irresponsible for anyone to take an 8-year old on a pirate adventure where the protaganists are litterally fighting for their lives against the greatset in universe forces in existance. I know that there's a way that she can become older but I already disliked that for Momo and I hope it won't happen to Tama.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
He didn't try to force it on Yamato, Yamato ate it by accident. That said, Kaidou is probably just rolling with Yamato having eaten it.
I definitely think Kaidou knew Nika was a in a Zoan fruit and that's why he was collecting them and even trying to make fake ones. Because he didn't know which fruit it was. The question now is, how did he know? Rocks, King or someone else?
Roger and Kaidou had a whatsapp group

RE: Chapter 1,044: Warrior of Liberation
I'm glad Luffy finally came up with a new method after Rayleigh told him so over six months in-universe / 250 chapters ago.
Question is, what does Rayleigh know abut the fruit? Would it be possible, having been on laugh tale, he knew about the Nika fruit and it being the fruit Luffy ate?
If we assume Shanks knew which actual fruit it was, it would be strange if Rayleigh himself didn't know. -
RE: If you knew all along about Luffy's fruit
The problem is that there was never any indication of ANY zoan whatsoever that only behaved like a zoan after it was awakend. Also, it's the sungod Nika fruit, but we know next to nothing about Nika and Nika was only recently introduced, so it now can function as a "do whatever free card" because knowledge of Nika is unknown. You could for instance ask what a sungod has to do with rubber. Some people seem to argue that the explanation can come afterwards but will that make it okay and will there be an actual explanation at all? This is not a given. I agree that the artistic freedom this gives Oda for future fights is immense and as seen in this chapter also very funny but I'm already anticipating the future asspulls that'll follow because "that is something Nika could do". "That is how dinosaurs used to fight" was funny but only because we "think" we know dinosaurs and it came completely out of the left field but as already mentioned, we know nothing of Nika so the same can not happen for this fruit.
(side note: It would've been cool to have seen some weird dinosaur moves in little garden. :P)Would it have been better if we knew it was a zoan? No because nothing indiciates it being a zoan and you'd have to say what zoan so Oda would've had to say which animal this fruit represented and which actual animal has rubber powers?
Would it have been better if we knew it was a mythical zoan from the start? It being a rare fruit from the start would have taken away from the underdog feeling Luffy always had with his rubber fruit because it was a silly simple fruit with little to no real battle use and it was upto Luffy's imagination to use the fruit in interesting ways like Gear 2 or Gear 3 so to me it would've been best if the rubber fruit was just that, the rubber fruit. Nothing special about it except for the boy that accidentally ate it and pushes it to its limit.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
Seeing Shanks' relationship with Rayleigh and Luffy's relationship with Rayleigh I'd guess that the friendship between Luffy and Shanks is genuine. I don't think him to be some evil puppet master overlord. If he was, he could've done much more to help his plans along the way he'd want them to play out. He took a bet on the new generation and also let this "new hope for the future" do his own thing. Except for Shanks giving Luffy his hat, Shanks has not meddled in Luffy's pirating at all save for Marineford but Marineford was hardly the first time Luffy could've died. I hardly think we should be expecting some Dr. Gero "I've been following you with tiny robots for the last x years to calculate your progress" kind of weridness. In the end, whatever happens, it will still be Luffy that will make his decision on what'll happen and like Rayleigh said: "you might come to a different conclusion than we did". Not at any time, however, was it shown that Shanks has had any interest in trying to change who Luffy is. Hell, he liked Luffy enough for whom he was that he gave his precious hat to him.
-
RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
I fully believe that Shanks befriended Luffy and lost his arm to help a friend in need and gave the hat to show his believe in Luffy and to take a gamble on "the new generation". What I also believe is that it is no coincidence that Shanks was there, on that island, at that moment, with that fruit. An insignificant island in the East Blue, where, shortly after Shanks would leave, the son of his dead captain would arrive.
It's all a bit too coincidental. Also, the relationship between Shanks, the world government and the marines are quite suspecious.
-
RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
The drums of liberation explicity being mentioned in the chapter (and later, in the episode) would mean, to me at least, that the absence of drums would be more suspect than the significant use of them.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
On the other hand, if we go by the assumption that "Shanks was searching for the reborn Joy Boy" (reincarnation or not) to give him the devil fruit, then Shanks didn't know for sure who it was, right? I mean, Shanks had to make a bet: who could be the closest thing to Joy Boy? It was not an obvious answer. So, again, comparing the candidates with Roger was probably the best he could do. Btw, some theorists even say that Shanks was looking for Ace just because Ace is Roger's son.
Besides all that, we don't need to assume a correlation like "person said something, therefore they're Joy Boy". It's just a small thing. And even though Roger was not Joy Boy per se, Roger was still someone who deeply carried the Will of D., and who enjoyed life in the same way Luffy does and Joy Boy did.
This is what I believe. There can be no coincidence that in the whole world, Shanks would end up on a random island in the East Blue where soon after he leaves, the son of his dead captain would arrive. There can be any number of ways Shanks could've found out where Ace would be taken by Garp, not in the least Shanks' weird relationship with the marines/World government. I also believe the hat and the fruit were meant for Ace, not for Luffy but Luffy forced Shanks' hand by eating it. In the end, because of what Luffy said though, I think Shanks was happy with his "decision".
Also, would Roger have had offspring just for the sake of that offspring becoming Joyboy? Is that also why Ace was a D.? Because somehow the D. has to do with Joy Boy and 2 D.'s (pure bloodline stuff) would have a bigger chance to give rise to a Joyboy than 1 D.?

RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
Watch these be used for Luffy literally just waking up and getting back in the fight in the anime's version of chapter 1010 instead of meaning anything significant.
I guess I don't know enough about the scoring process to say if a composer would get that kind of info as far in advance as it would have to have happened to be on a CD published now, but it doesn't feel quite right that it would happen that way.
It begs the question whether a composer actually needs to know anything about the manga/anime at all. I think music is more about strengthening a feeling rather than informative so my guess is that if a composer is informed about how it should make the audience feel without knowing the context would be much more usefull then an infodump.

RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
Luffy isn't able to beat kaido at full strength 1 on 1 at this point in the story. This was Oda's intent i'm pretty sure.
If Luffy had beat him, would he have beaten him alone though?
Kaidou battled 5 supernovae simultaneously. 2 of those 5 actually succeeded in defeating an emperor after that (although some luck was involved there with the way that played out).
Kaidou then battle Yamato for some time.
Didn't Kaidou also fight Big Mom earlier?–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Right after Kidd and Law established that using Awakening without being used to it drains a lot of stamina, and while Luffy doesnt have anymore well uggh..
Healing powers? That's just Gear Plot Armor.
Well, it is stated that awakenings and haki usage drains stamina but conveniently this seems to only ever effect the protaganists and never the antagonists.
And yes, but, being the lead character in a series means you have the highest level of plot armour.
-
RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
Luffy himself is beyond out of stamina, raising up without even a minute of rest, it gives the impression that 'someone else' is taking over.
Unless if the awakened not-gomu gomu no mi has healing powers.
Whether it be mythical zoan or tree sap/resin or something else, I wouldn't think it impossible. It is however problematic that there would be a fruit that can heal the user (or perhaps even others) on the brink of death. That effectively would mean that if you don't litteraly kill Luffy, he'll just be able to regenerate and doesn't even have to be conscious to do so.Also, I find it strange that Yamato says that even Kaidou should be feeling the strain of the fight by now. This actually nerfs Kaidou and if Luffy continues to fight, it means that he will be fighting an enemy that is no longer at peak strength while he just got an upgrade unless if Luffy pulls a Vegeta and can also heal kaidou and wants to defeat him at his best.

RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
Whatever it is that is happening, if there's one thing that is for sure, it is that Luffy (or Zoro for that matter), as a person will not dissapear from the story. The themes of this manga have been too much about Luffy wanting to be the most free person in the world and on having a grand adventure so that any form of predestination is basically out of the question. However, as the intro to One Piece has long told us, inhereted will IS a thing that can come into play and is it different from predestination in that one can carry the will of another without being that person or becoming that person.
Also I was thinking about the sudden logianess of Luffy's fruit and was reading on here it might be tree sap because rubber was made from tree sap so I was thinking if there were some special trees and then there was this:
In Chinese Mythology, a carving of a tree of life depicts a phoenix and a dragon; the dragon often represents immortality. A Taoist story tells of a tree that produces a peach of immortality every three thousand years, and anyone who eats the fruit receives immortality.
An archeological discovery in the 1990s was of a sacrificial pit at Sanxingdui in Sichuan, China. Dating from about 1200 BCE, it contained threebronze trees, one of them 4 meters high. At the base was a dragon, and fruit hanging from the lower branches. At the top is a bird-like (Phoenix) creature with claws. Also found in Sichuan, from the late Han dynasty (c 25 – 220 CE), is another tree of life. The ceramic base is guarded by a horned beast with wings. The leaves of the tree represent coins and people. At the apex is a bird with coins and the Sun.If Luffy doesn't have the rubber fruit he might have the tree sap fruit from the Adam tree which is perhaps the "tree of Life", who knows what this might do when awakened. Having a healing effect doesn't sound too farfetched anyway. This myth is also very integratable with the Momotaro (peach boy) references and ties big players at the scene in both mythologies. The monkey (Luffy), the dog (Yamato) and the pheasant (that one is not so clear), the dragon (Kaidou and Momo) and the phoenix (Marco).
What is interesting here is also the interplay between the Gorosei saying that, even for them, (probably) Luffy's fruit is a legend because it hasn't awakaned in so long and the myth saying the peach only grows every 3000 years. In both instances, the special thing being that the fruit is very rare. The Peach of the momotaru legend gave birth to Momotaru or better, Momotaru was born out of the peach. Naturally Luffy will not be born because of his fruit but instead of being born, something latent within him might be awoken (the drums of liberation?) and this might be something that happens to anyone that can awaken this specific fruit, which happens very rarely.

RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
@Daz:
Well yeah, thats what I'm saying. That the idea that "this is all about Luffys PERSONALITY, he's LIKE Joyboy" doesn't hold water, because the deciding factor is whatever this happening-outside-of-Luffys-control-while-KOd powerup is.
Well, that's what I mean. You claim to know that "happening-outside-of-Luffys-control-while-KOd" is a matter of fact while it isn't or that it "can't" be Luffy's personality being similar to Joyboy. You even use the second non-factual thing to validate the first non-factual thing you said.
The point is that the story takes un unexpected turn and Oda has always been one to throw a curve ball. It is however nonsensical (although not a fact) to think that Oda would throw out all the themes he has shown Luffy to be heavily invested in like freedom of choice (or freedom in general), adventure, happy-go-lucky lifestyle, ambition, … and just his personality in generaly and changes it in the end-stretch of the series. Oda would not have brought these things to the forefront if they would be thrown out of the window in the end.

RE: Chapter 1,043: Let's Face Death Together!!!
I find it frustrating that some people just hang around commenting about how they don't want this or they don't want that as if all is written in stone. As if there's a 100% probability that this is going to ruin the series although we literally know nothing yet. I understand the excitement or wanting to theorize about something but maybe you can try and see if you can find a possitive way this can play out instead of only focussing on the negative stuff.
What, to you, could make this an interesting turn of events?
@Daz:
But like, in this case the new mode specifically is what makes Zuneisha go "JOY BOY IS HERE!". If it was all about vibes, the elephant should have been clued in at Zou
Not if the awakening of the fruit or a fight of this level (which the Gorosei were talking about) is the actual trigger. Zou dit not really have any high level fights nor a fruit awakening.

RE: Next Straw Hat Crewmates (Vol. 9 - Yamato vs. The World)
True perhaps but with beating Kaidou an era has been ushered in where Luffy should start feeling like a threat for the marines and the World Governement. Even with Luffy defeating Kaidou and his allies I feel the World Government, with the marines as their army, just feel so much greater in size. Three admirals that all can give luffy trouble, 23 vice-admirals that use haki to some extend and will have some members that might be close to admiral level, other devil fruit and haki users in higher ranks, huge amounts of battleships, government strongholds, now the SSG that seems to replace the warlords, seemingly endless amounts of fodder to keep the allied forces' fodder occupied, …

RE: Chapter 1,040: Wasted Words On Young Ears
I do agree that I dislike Law's and Kid's crew being reduced to nothing more than useless bystanders.
Big Mom on the other hand has been shown to be a force of nature. The only way for Kid and Law (who have been commenting a bit too much IMHO about not being able to move anymore and then suddenly pulling out yet another attack) to even come close to "defeating" Big Mom was by removing her from the island they are on and her falling in a gigantic explosion which happened by sheer luck because neither Kid nor Law had any idea there were explosives down there in the first place. If there had not been an Silence Room by the way, Big Mom would have just gone back to the fight. The way she mentioned she won't go down so "easily" makes me quite certain her story won't be over just yet.

RE: What is the false-named fruit the Five Elders are talking about?
I don't really see how it could be a DF that Zunesha possibly ate. Zunesha is a gigantic elephant type creature that was the home of an entire race for a thousand years. I'm pretty sure the Gorosei know of its existance. It would be weird if they would not. So Zunesha showing up in Wano, which, although weird, does not mean Zunesha has some type of devil fruit at all. The WG ships also have not perceived any form of devil fruit usage from Zunesha as far as we know. So why the Gorosei would link Zunesha's appearance at Wano as it having a DF, I don't understand.
Zunesha showing up at Wano like I said is weird and it seems like there's a specific reason why it's here which the Gorosei might allocate to a certain devil fruit. This is supported by the logical assumption that the Gorosei know Zunesha and the fact that Oda showed an image of Zunesha while the gorosei are talking about this particular devil fruit. If that is the case I'm quite sure it is not Tama's fruit. I didn't chose gomu gomu in the poll but we do know that only Luffy and Momo have been able to actually communicate with Zunesha. For both Luffy and Momo we though it was the VOAT but what if it isn't?
It being Tama's fruit (Although I like the thought behind it) doens't really make sense because the WG ships don't know about Tama, Tama doesn't know what the original name of the devil fruit she ate is and Zunesha showing up in Wano can't be linked to Tama's fruit because she never left Wano in the first place. I would guess Zunesha is only there because it met Momo, realized he's a Kozuki and assumed that they would be heading to Wano. Having traveled the New World for a thousand years I would guess Zunesha knows the way there since it was there before.
Some said that the text said "awakened" devil fruit as in "not that is hasn't existed for a long time but that it hasn't been "awakened" for a long time" like Law's or Kid's fruits. I don't speak or read Japanese but if this is true, seeing we have been explicitly told that the Ope Ope no Mi was special by Doffy AND has some link to some WG secret my guess would be it's about the Ope Ope no Mi and that oda actually tried to misguide us by placing the text on the image with Zunesha. The Gorosei could learn from CP0 that the Ope Ope no Mi has awakaned.
Anyway, I know I contradict myself but I'm not sure about the whole thing. My hope is that it ISN'T the Gomu Gomu no Mi.

wasn't there also a teapot with some type of devil fruit?

RE: Chapter 1,039: Top Billing
I like that Raizo's fight isn't over. This is the Wano arc. All the Pirate conflict is cute concerning Supernova and Yonko, but this fight deserves to get it's shine.
He was introduced through the whole ninja excitement, "Raizo is safe" and he was 1 of the main ones initially telling Oden that his dream is their dream as well when some were wavering.
Raizo burning even reminds me of Oden boiling.
Good to see there's at least some excitement for that "fight". To me they are just standing still and getting burned though.
-
RE: Chapter 1,039: Top Billing
Well, it could be something that is kept ambiguous. Did Zoro really meet death or was it a hallucination?
I think it'd be interesting to see what kind of conversation death would have with Zoro (or the other way around), even if it is perhaps only a hallucination. It could become a great showing of resolve from Zoro yet again, just like with Kuma on thriller bark but on a different level.
-
RE: Chapter 1,034: Sanji vs. Queen
Considering that they are fighting on actual landmass and not on water I fail to see how this is even related to Marinford where water was literally everywhere.
That's the exact point I'm trying to make. His regular magma powers already seem to be able to create only a landscape of magma which Fire Punk Hazard is clearly NOT. As a matter of fact we've not seen any magma at all aside of the occational volcanic eruption and rather fire that just kept on burning for two years straight. Unless I'm mistaken in which case I'm begging for you to enlighten me, ten days exposure of magma cannot do something like that to a landmass. So unless Akainu's DF has more applications than just spraying magma, I would say that creating volcanoes and keeping fire burning on an island is a definite higher level ability of his base magma powers, which from what we know is exactly what DF Awakening seems to be.
Can I prove that the volcanoes were not already there? Of course I can't. But at the same time there's nothing indicating that they were not created by Akainu. I really don't know why people have such a hard time considering the possibility that two of the three strongest Logia users would not be able to actually awaken their ability and that Punk Hazard can be an actual result of that. Especially after Crocodile has shown that there's a limit to basic DF powers back on Arabasta where he pretty much had the field advantage.
I know this is perhaps a weak argument but it is not possible to apply real world physics on One Piece. What you are saying is all true in reality but in One Piece it'd be, according to me, 100% plausible that some crazy powerful guys can litterly change the landscape and climate of an island, certainly when they have the powers that Akainu and Aokiji have without ANY addition to their power in the form of an awakening. Volcanoes, fires that burn for 2 years straight or everlasting ice age conditions included. Except of course if the powers that we have seen from the admirals was always awakened already, which could be the case but in that case I'd ask what makes their "awakened" fruits awakened and different from let's say Enel, Caribou or Crocodile?
If their devil fruits are in fact awakened, why not use this advantages when fighting the strongest man in the world at that time? If you're going to be pulling out all the stops, seems to me that'd be the top moment to do so. Or did they (Akainu and Aokiji) suddenly, during their bout both awaken their fruits? Possible of course but unlikely.
-
RE: Chapter 1,034: Sanji vs. Queen
Unfortunally I don't remember a clear shot of Punk Hazard before the fight in the manga. I know that there's a shot in the anime but that seems to be a) the ice side of the island (judging by the buildings) and b) it's the anime so it wouldn't mean much. Thing is though if there's sleeping volcanos there then it would have been a poor choice for a battle on equal terms because Akainu would have the advantage there in activating something like that.
I'm not saying it's proof only that it seems kinda related to what I've seen Awakening can do. Remember that with the still limited things we've seen of Awakening it so far strikes as something that amplifiess and/or extends the inherent ability of a Devil Fruit. Doflamingo managed to turn a landmass into string. Kidd managed to magetize Big Mom. And no matter how strong Akainu is, just spamming magma over a landmass for ten day straight might destroy the flora and fauna of an island but it by no means creates a new volcano. He might be able to punch into the ground and have magma come out of different spots in the ground (I don't remember if he ever did something like this in the story itself but some games apply those moves which seems plausible). But that's not equal to creating a real volcano. A thing like that requires much more force of nature to be created over millennia. I nothing we've seen of Sakazuki's ability indicates that the regular ability is that strong. So Awakening is a valid asumption. But not saying it's proof.
Well, for all we know Akainu might have had the advantageous location. He did win afterall. Would it be correct to assume that water might also increase Aokiji's battle power? As seen in Marineford? Because, if so, it is an island and it even has a lake in the middle so both might have had equal amounts of advantages. Akainu might've needed to get Lava from underground, destabilizing the island.
Anyway, lava can be underground anywhere. If Akainu forced it out, it would've perhaps formed a vulcano. I don't see why that has to be an awakening. He could, like I said, also have activated an already existing volcano. I think there's really to little information available to make the assumption it would have been an awakaned devil fruit's effect. And in any case, for what we know of awakenings, none has had this type of effect. Doffy could create a landscap of strings. He had the string string fruit. Katakuri could create a landscape of mochi. He had the mochi mochi fruit. Akainu has the Magma fruit. He can create a landscape of … volcanoes? Seems incorrect to me. If anything, he'd be creating a landscape of magma. Not volcanoes. Because of how logia's work though he can create a landscape of magma without needing any awakening anyway. He has an almost limitless supply of it and can create and use it at will. I don't see what an awakening would add for a logia.

RE: Chapter 1,034: Sanji vs. Queen
Chapter 655 first page after the cover page. That thing is definitely huge.
Also chapter 659 first page after the cover we actually see it's more than just one volcano. No matter how you cut it, it's a volcanic landscape alright.
And that volcano couldn't have been there before Akainu and Aokiji's fight? Do we know what PH looked like before this and do we have confimation there was no volcano there already? Seriously asking here because if there was a pre-existing (sleeping or acitve) volcano already there it will have nothing to do with Akainu. He might have activated it though which would be easily doable with his regular power. I also don't see how creating a volcano would be proof of an awakened logia. There might have been lava underground already and Akainu just forced it up, creating, in fact, a volcano.

RE: Greg: Teacher of SUPER " OP " course !
@Zik:
Yeah, granted that seemed to be a strange thing specific ppl were just born with.
I might be remembering this wrongly but wasn't it just that 1 little girl that had it from birth?

Especially considering each island has it's own climate and is thus more vulnerable to interference.
Something I hadn't even considered but indeed.

RE: Chapter 1,034: Sanji vs. Queen
I would say that there is a difference between creating limitless amounts of lava while you are present on site and downright creating volcanic landscapes that forever change the topography of an island, which is what happened on Punk Hazards lava side. Of course it hasn't been confirmed yet but it would amaze me if Punk Hazard as it is now would not be a result of Kuzan and Sakazuki unleashing awakened powers during their 10 days fight.
We know nothing about whether logias actually can be awakened and what it would mean. I choose to believe that it wasn't awakening until there is comfirmation that it was. At this point I don't see why They couldn't change the island itself with their super OP powers.
