Rope Action!
Pipe Hitch Knives!

Paulie once Enies Lobby started. His character went straight to hell from that point forward. (blah.)
Franky:
-A background and a dream
-The colorspread
-The introduction of his name as a chapter title
-Fighting the more significant villains.
-Developing relationships with the strawhats.
-Luffy's Drawing
For the love of fuck people, if this isn't evidence of Franky joining I don't know what the hell is. He's given us all the tell-tale signs of becoming a strawhat and it is inevitable. Why do we feel the need to constantly throw out the same damn arguements over and over again when it just comes down to the same conclusion. I don't like Franky, I actually downright hate him, but I know a strawhat when I see one.
The biggest reason for Paulie's not joining the crew is because of the lack of expansion of his character after they left Water 7. Ever since the SH and the Franky Family, Paulie has played little more than your standard background character. I've hoped countless times for Oda to make Paulie do something absolutely amazing (in terms of character developmet at least), but alas to no avail. Granted the fights and the plot is still developing wonderfully, there's just not as much of Paulie as I hoped. Perhaps he might still impress us when the Buster Call arrives…. but that's only wishful thinking.
Regarding Sanji, I'm thinking he might try to put a stop to Chopzilla's rampage. Who know's when his monster form will wear off? It makes alot of sense to me that someone should knock him out before he really does injure one of the strawhats.
The only thing I'd really want to change (coming from me, this should be easily predictable) is Paulie's significance to the Water 7 arc. blah blah, i'm a whiny bitch and that whole routine
What I'm about to say is probably gonna piss you off, but fuck it. I hate Franky and I can't his character for several reasons. First off, he is a freakin' whore. Seriously, the guy has been around for 50 some chapters, yet already they have 5 different sets of figurines, he's starring in a videogame and his face is seen on practically any page relating to One Piece. Second his personality is annoying too. Why? Because it's so damn 1-dimensional. Seriously, all Franky does is dance, act goofy, mispronounce a word or two, and flaunt his cybernetic abilities. Yet we almost never see his attitude change, it's just the same damn routine day in and day out. At least with Paulie, we can see him act like a goof be serious or actually react properly to a situation rather than just dance for no reason. Basically, I just find Franky's personality too random, even more so than Luffy or Ussop's. The last point I wanna bring up is that someone once said Franky blends in with the Strawhats better. BULLSHIT. That is only a biased opinion. I could just as easily say to you that Paulie blends in with the Strawhats but it does not make for a very compelling arguement as it is simply my personal belief. All in all though, I am already fully aware of the colorspread and the fact that Franky has a background and dream, and yes I know he will join the crew. Just as a pissed off Paulie fan though, I've been meaning to post this shit for a while now and am going to back away from this thread before it becomes another "Franky vs. Paulie" thread.
Out of hopeless optimism, I pray that Paulie snuck onto Rocketman (again) and he ends up saving one of the strawhat's asses. We didn't see him when the train hit Baskerville and he wasn't standing by Zambai in this chapter. It could happen…...
Notes:
- Franky saying "I love you guys". Come on now, is anyone still doubting he's joining?
I do . =)
I too stand by your side, comrade.
Ya know, Battle Franky, what you've been saying so far is exactly the point I made in the "Franky vs. Pauley" thread. But I'll stop being a little, whiny dick and just pray to sweet, merciful Oda that Pauley still somehow manages to get into the main event.
Aw, what the hell, I'll throw in my 2 cents.
This arc has turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment for me since this arc. I've personally been cheering on Paulie since the arc began. Lately, I'm starting to give hope namely because way back in Water 7, it appeared that Paulie had the edge in terms of becoming the new crewmember. We got to see his personality, fighting style, and generally his interaction with the Strawhats.
Ever since the Rocketman scene though, Paulie's character just generally deteriorated as he has been pushed to being another background character like Pell or Dalton. Personally, I'd hate to see Paulie's Rope Action go to waste.
Also, did anyone else think that Paulie was acting out-of-character in comparison to his attitude back in Water 7? I'm saying this because Paulie was displaying alot of stamina and willpower. When he was talking to Luffy, he even said, "I'll keep fighting even if I'm reduced to a single bone!" But then on Rocketman, he basiacally says that he's not strong enough to fight CP9. So where did all of that fighting spirit go then?
Regardless, I'm still hoping that Paulie has his own fight and can prove he is Strawhat material.
