Even if Kaido were to be turned into a Toy he would still be stronger than everyone in Dressrosa. That's how Oda would address that particular encounter, I think. All it takes to overcome Sugar is to make her faint.

RE: Chapter 957: ULTIMATE
Yeah, I would say Mihawk is on the level of the Rayleighs and Katakuris of the world. Strong enough to take on most threats. Even an admiral BUT not strong enough to single handedly destroy entire islands like Emperors(who are basically the embodiment of natural disasters, at least Teach, Kaidou and Big Mom are)
Rayleigh? If he helped Roger defeat Rocks pirates he must have defeated a few would-be yonkous that are around in the story now.

RE: Chapter 937: Gyukimaru on Bandit's Bridge
I agree that it probably is, if only because the arc really doesn't need more barely-relevant random background characters. Plus, in-story it makes sense that Komurasaki would grab Toko and run away after faking her death.
But, without her typical hair style that face could be any one of a dozen generic Oda women we've seen in Wano and if she has other unmistakable features I missed them. So I can't decide if Oda is trying to hide her in plain sight to prepare an upcoming flashback that explains the fake death, or if he is just being clumsy with faces.
She's trying to cover herself up with that scarf, but forget that, she's also openly referring to Orochi by name, something she is likely to do considering her dissent a few chapters ago. A random character probably wouldn't be able to piece together that Kamazo is Orochi's personal assassin.

RE: 873: ''Back from the Brink - Germa, the Strongest Reinforcements!''
Only thing that kind of let me down this episode was Ichiji's sparking valyrie move I think it was? In the manga it looked like wholesome red lasers flying upwards and piercing through Oven, here it looked flashy and the sound effects sold it really well but I was expecting red lasers, not tiny sparkly beams.

RE: Chapter 930: Ebisu Town
So guys, now that we know Oven has been left on weaker Whole Cake Island, what are the chances Blackbeard sends someone to get his Heat fruit as a replacement for missing the Fire fruit?
We know BB is highly opportunistic and his crew will take any chance they get to get fruit(Burgess attacking Luffy sorely for his rubber fruit, which isn't really that useful unless mastered). So it would make perfect sense for him to attack WCI and take some fruits from there.
I expect we'll get some panels of an utterly decimated WCI by the time Wano ends.
Also an attack on WCI could possibly draw BM away from Wano, making it less of a clusterfuck.
I can see it happening but don't want it happening because the sad fact is Blackbeard would cream Katakuri and I don't want him getting back to back losses, even if he is more ruthless against Blackbeard there's only one outcome of that particular fight :/

RE: Chapter 927: The Courtesan's Kamuro
@Miss:
I find it a little disturbing how calm and cocky the Strawhats are about Luffy being in prison. I know they're confident in him but damn, not even a shred of worry or doubt or wanting to go help him themselves. Have things gotten so formulaic that even the main cast knows they're unbeatable?
Luffy always pulls through, why start doubting him now after all they've been through and seen him pull off? It's not overconfidence, it's Luffy.

RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
I am pretty sure Fujitora can go toe to toe with a Yonkou.
Was mostly referring to the fact that 2 other big time Marine people were there but I don't think they got the chance to get involved, besides those bandages he had imply he got cut the hell up and only one strong swordsman was on that ship. Initially the thought was he tangled with all 3 now it's rather clear he tangled with 1 and got bodied. No denying he can take unbelievable punishment and live to tell the tale but he's just a big target that can get whaled on easily and when the going gets tough he will use underhanded tactics like that poison he unleashed to gain the upper hand. He's definitely the runt of the calamities/all stars.
But the existence of Samurai of Ashura's caliber explains why the marines are wary to go near there and test their luck, ashura is no way the strongest example of the samurai yet he made a billion bounty dude bleed through his mouth on his first attack. People were worried about Wano looking like child's play need to sit back down, there are some freaks in this place.
-
RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Oden must have been quite the badass if he was able to gain the respect of so many strong characters. Jack…starting to think Fujitora singlehandedly dealt with him back then.
-
RE: Chapter 920: For Love of Oden
Sometimes it is.
Oda said once that he draws some important characters bigger/ taller than the rest - example being Admirals or especially he was referring to scene with all Warlords being present on double page spread and tiny marines before them. And who you are to judge my thought train going most straightforward line of thoughts most of the time ? I am not commenting on that, you also could avoid it.
Beside size of Calamities, Kaidos crew seems to have more structure alike to Whitebeards(top commanders) and Big Mom Pirates(Sweet Commanders) with few individuals being especially strong.
With Jack in crew, centric Calamity that we seen might be Katakuris equivalent in Beast Pirates crew.
When I think of really strong characters the last person I would think of is Jozu, why Jozu? Is it because he's similarly bulky like Jack? I hope the Calamities are strong as Katakuri
-
RE: Chapter 920: For Love of Oden
Personally I don't think those 3 silhouettes are the calamities, even though the left one looks like Jack the other two don't seem like inspired designs especially when one of them literally resembles Pica. Could just be a case of Pica being inspired by him I guess?
-
RE: Chapter 918: Luffytaro Repays the Favor
Yeah! Also I am finding this Ace parallel for Luffy ( in Otama's eye) bit forced.
Also i wish Oda didn't so nonchalantly put that scene of attempted suicide in between all the commotions. The suicide thing I agree with but also I guess it's the Wano, they have too much pride to be crying and being hopeless all the time but random placement of that in a generally funny and touching chapter was a bit silly, it's not a light matter. But I really like how Luffy is shown to be carrying on Ace's legacy and Tama is too endearing, Luffy is just oblivious that he's behaving just like his older brother. It's a nice touch.
-
RE: Chapter 917: The Treasure Ship of Provisions
So, I see that people are questioning the Beast Pirates and comparisons are already being made to the Big Mom Pirates.
Here's the thing, we already know Kaido has a lot of trash, a LOT of trash who are being fed these SMILE fruits. It's always been a numbers game for him. Whereas, with Big Mom most her crew comprises of her own children, they got that Big Momma DNA giving them an inherent headstart to life lol so it kind of makes sense her crew will have more formidable underlings. BUT, while there's more quality in her crew it's far more spread out, after Katakuri the power level (for lack of a better thing to call it by) drops significantly. I suspect with Kaidos crew his 3 Calamities are all Katakuri level, relatively speaking. Besides, there is also the misconception from the last arc that Big Mom was the weakest of the Emperors, that's why there's this expectation that the Beast Pirates are going to be on another level, well guess what? No they're not they're going to be on roughly the same level because if they were any stronger there wouldn't even be this deadlock with other Emperors to begin with, one would make a move on the other for a bigger slice of the cake. So, what I'm saying is, pipe down and enjoy the ride, the monstrosities are coming and we all know that, 5th emperor Luffy is going to plough through everything until he at least meets Jack and then the whining will be about "he just beat Katakuri, why he struggling?" Chiiiilll.

RE: 850: ''I'll be Back - Luffy's Dangerous Departure''

RE: Chapter 912: Amigasa Village
It would be very realistic if Oda choses to eliminate Kid in this arc to show just how tough are the Yonko. Luffy and Bege making it out of BM territory was just pure luck and non engagment by the BM pirates( ex Smoothie).
After all the hype and elevation of Yonko it would seem stupid if every time the “supernovas” manage to humiliate, defeat and escape alive.
Kidd has already been humiliated, we don't know anything about him and he's going to die is he? Not happening, he's going to get his own little personal win this arc. None of the supernova will die.

Oda is a genius man, He brought the fasting thing twice, last year in Big mom past about the elbaf fasting in ramadan (Fasting month of muslims), and now he rbough it again with Greenbull in ramadan again
I noticed the fasting thing too It's nice even if it is a coincidence.

RE: Chapter 905: A Beautiful World
if a woman is going as far as making you a meal and feed you directly, she is either a nurse and you are sick or she is interested in you..which means that he is not going to refuse said meal saying that he doesn't eat if that was the case.
I have the same interpretation of that scene as you do. He's not waiting for a hot girl to feed him but if there happened to be one who was bothered enough to make him say "ahhhh" (open mouth wide for her) he wouldn't say no to her feeding him. He's an admiral if he was misogynistic he would have girls surrounding him doing all his bidding.

RE: Chapter 903: The Fifth Emperor
We don't know if the thing shoots laser beams that was an assumption from Luffy and Chopper. The laser light show seemed to be exclusive to Ichiji, I'd imagine what ever they gave to Sanji would be exclusive to him.
Franky found the tech documents for weapons developed by Vegapunk that were deemed impossible at the time because of current technology. Over the course of two years he figured them out. Oda could easily write Sanji activating the suit by wearing it, spitting on it or offering a hair. Once unlocked there are a trillion ways Oda can go about Franky and Usopp unraveling it's secrets and reproducing them. Doesn't matter if DNA is some sort of requirement as it's already been established that Franky came across those types of Documents in Vegapunks lab. He said he wasn't interested but it doesn't mean he didn't gain some knowledge at the time. How it happens is no concern to me, just why it would.
And in no way do I mean for the Raid Suit to be utilized by Franky or Usopp in the same way the Vinesmokes use it. I don't expect them to wear it like a power ranger, just pull out the tech and incorporate the tools in their own weapons or body respectively.
Usopp is weakER physically than most of the crew but he isn't weak. I don't expect to see him wearing that thing and launching buildings like Zoro or Sanji but the Germa tech contains a lot of neat tricks. His accuracy when actually shooting something is incredible and has been for an extremely long time. I don't expect the suit to improve anything there aside from maybe upgrading his goggles. Usopp's abilities don't rely entirely on how accurate he can shoot something at someone, he has a ton of miscellaneous tools and weirdness that add to his bag of tricks. Some form of electrical doodads or poison capsules could go a long way to round out his arsenal and thats just me thinking about shallow surface material. Just look at all the weird stuff he did with dials in comparison to the Skypieans. I'm expecting his ammo or slingshots to be upgraded.
For Franky I feel like much of the same could be utilized though I really don't know how. The rocket boots get incorporated into Franky's feet? I guess then he, Sanji, Luffy and Robin can all fly together. Maybe General Franky gets it's own weapons instead of Franky having to comically leave the cockpit to do something. Maybe the Sunny itself gets some added utility?
The idea that someone in the crew would constantly wear the thing to be fully powered in a fight doesn't sit well with me because of the way they have been established over the decades. Well accept Daz Bones. He can have it and realize his dreams.
As for the Vinsmoke name on his poster I just chalk that up to Sanji's continued use of the monkey paw.
Sanji is that guy in pursuit of glory and he gets it but in a very different way than other characters for comic relief. He finally gets a bounty that contains his real picture coupled with an amount worth more than Zoro but at the cost of having his Vinsmoke name printed for the world to see. I'm sure like Duval, and "alive only" this new bounty baring the Vinsmoke name will have some story implications but I don't think the Raid Suit has any part of it.All the points you've raised are sensible and I can imagine what you're describing but it just all sounds like a continuation of "Sanji won't receive the raid suit" and the people who championed this exact notion also raised very valid points, convincing too. Of course you'll have your Ussops and Frankys analysing it once they see what it is but at least just once in the story we will see Sanji wear it, not for a permanent overused upgrade. It has to happen. What happens after that is as you and ackward mentioned anyone's guess because the possibilities for it are quite open ended. But at some point, even if it's just the one time, Sanji will wear it. I don't have the imagination to say where and when this early on but it's pretty clear we will see this. It will just serve to amplify his existing skill set. Sanji isn't at a Yonkou commander level and to suggest he will bridge that gap in time for Wano is naive and I think he will have some crazy fight there that will force him to resort to the one thing he would never willingly do. But I'm definitely open to the possibilities you've brought up. Let's see.
Also for manga only readers have you guys seen the amazing Sanji animation in the latest anime episode. Amazing kick.
! Sanji with a cape…it suits him, if nothing else
-
RE: Chapter 903: The Fifth Emperor
Sanji getting into the Raid Suit and using at as a full on power up seems super unlikely to me. Despite Luffy offering crew mates the Flame Flame fruit there was no way any of the Straw Hats were going to get it because of their established abilities and themes.
Sanji didn't learn how to fight with his hands or eyeballs after fighting with the Kamabaka Kingdom residents for 2 years. He didn't develop a way to fight as fast as a Fishman Underwater with his blue walk only to lose that ability 2 arcs later. He didn't develop his skywalk to later have a suit that could do it for him.
Sanji gets smashed through brick walls by Kurobi, gets his rib bones broken by Bon Clay, his shin fractured by Vergo, and then loses blood from a gun shot wound he barely even noticed. The suit would undoubtedly give him more protection from these things but Oda didn't establish how tough he is for 20ish years as a super(normal) human to give him fruit powers and Inspector Gadget gear.
The Raid Suit is in the Straw Hats hands and Sanji wants no part of it but you can bet Franky and Usopp will take notice. I don't think it was any secret that both Franky and Usopp were mentioned when the topic of using the Raid Suit came up. Sanji will be key in unlocking the thing but Franky and Usopp are going to dissect it, reverse engineer it and incorporate that stuff into their arsenal, maybe upgrade some of Nami's stuff too. That stuff fits them way more than it does Sanji.
It was emphasized in this chapter that Franky already has tech similar to the Germa with his lasers. Ussop as much as I don't see it it does make some sense because of the yellow theme but how will the tech or suit help him augment his sniping abilities and why can't Franky help him get all futuristic without the Germa gear that's meant to be tailor made for Sanji alone. Not to mention it's meant to work for Sanji and no one else, reverse engineering doesn't make sense to me here. Ussop is going to stay weak til like the end of the series, the suit is a bit overpowered for that to remain true. Sanji will reluctantly wear it under some extreme circumstance is what I think is the likelier outcome. His name on the wanted poster is now Vinsmoke, he doesn't like that name either but it's a part of him just like his birth right is Germa tech.

RE: Chapter 903: The Fifth Emperor
@Count:
This chapter sure was crazy.
We don't usually get bounty increases as soon as two arcs later, and only Luffy/Sanji getting them is very unorthodox. But I don't mind.
…It still is. Hence Sanji's reaction this chapter lol. Oda can either win big or flop hard with this development when the time comes for Sanji to use it.
Supporting characters can talk about that all they want, but what matters to me is when he starts showing up on color spreads, volume covers, hanging out on the ship between islands, and helping out against threats not related to Warlord/Fishman business.
As somebody who has always believed that, I'm glad that is being proven wrong. But we'll see if he back up his game by finally giving Sanji a fight in Wano Country since we know Zoro has to get one.
I saw this coming.
I'm glad that Luffy is finally getting respect. But at the same time, I sort of wish it happened after Wano Country if Kaido is defeated there. Luffy's Whole Cake Island raid is huge news but it still feels a TINY bit early for Luffy to be considered a Yonko or Goko or whatever. Especially when winning against Kaido looks the most impressive if he looks like an underdog that is not on Kaido's status yet.
This big a rise surprised me, but I like it. I thought Oda would surely go for a billion here or after Wano Country since it looks like the perfect round number. He loves to play up Luffy as an underdog. Which is why both this and the fifth emperor title surprise me a LOT. But I'm completely cool with it. I'm actually glad that Luffy is finally getting the respect he deserves for the ridiculous stunts he pulls compared to everybody else.
Wano Country can't get here soon enough to end this debate.
Somebody already said this to you, but theories need to be formed by evidence. The closest thing to evidence for storytelling is following patterns. And just because Oda can break free from his usual writing style does not mean his developments will always be good, and theories intrinsically try to point at possibilities that are interesting. Which is subjective, of course, but that can be done well if balanced with enough rational sense about how the author works.
But hey, everyone will love surprises that have good writing and art, so win-win even if predictions are not correct. That is what matters the most here.
I agree that theories are more plausible when backed up by evidence and patterns but that's never been the issue. There are times when a lot of us just outright say it will never happen with 100% certainty that you start questioning whether we're talking about likelihood of things happening or things we do/don't want to happen because it doesn't play out in a way that would be satisfying to us as individuals. I think that's where the line needs to be drawn. Yes, it's nice to look at what the author never does so you can safely say it's unlikely to happen. But to say never is where it bothers me. Never and unlikely are two different things. I do it too but I've grown wary about the distinction and formulate my points of view with that in mind. Oda has never so will never, as of this arc, should no longer be a thing when discussing theories.
! That being said… Ussop is still never wearing that suit. Nor is anyone else besides Sanji.

RE: Chapter 903: The Fifth Emperor
Lot's of people around the internet jumping to conclusions about the whole "5th emperor" stuff.
Morgans saying that a "5th emperor has emerged" doesn't mean that he is an emperor now or that he is considered one, but that it's on his way to become one in the future..much like every new talented football player is "the new messi" , "the new iniesta", "the new gerrard" and so on…it doesn't mean they are already at the level of those champions..but that they resembles what those champions were at their age..the same way luffy has probably reached this level faster than some of the yonkou did.
and by the way,i expect a ynokou bounty to be WAAAAAAY higher than 1.5 bln.
That's how I interpreted it too. He isn't an emperor quite yet.
-
RE: Chapter 903: The Fifth Emperor
Well I personally didn't say any of the things you said wouldn't happen (except Carrot not joining), but that's just a little silly.
Even the ones who predict Carrot will join are doing that based on what they think it's Oda's set of rules, hell her needing to have a position in the crew is one of them. So….
Trying to figure out a pattern is just one of the things that every theory is based on, and saying that there aren't any is just wrong. It is always possible for the patterns to change or to be implemented in ways you'd not expect, but if you don't want people to consider them then you're just wishing for all the theories to be like: "me like dis it sure happen!".Excitement got the better of me I must say. There are definitely patterns of course but like you said there's also room to break out of the mould and that's what I've always argued. Lo and behold.
I am still for Usopp to use the suit…
Would benefit him the most... The color scheme yellow would fit him and the 3 on it as well
Not happening. Quote me if you like and I'll happily eat my words years down the line but Ussop will never wear that suit.
-
RE: Chapter 903: The Fifth Emperor
Pretty much everything people said wouldn't happen is happening. There won't be a bounty increase this soon we just had one. ODA: hold my beer. Sanji won't get a raid suit it completely goes against what he stands for. ODA: hold my beer. Luffy won't become an emperor he even said it himself he has much loftier ambitions and who's going to die to make space for him Yonkou to Gokou sounds retarded. ODA: hold my beer.
Jinbei is still not recognized as a strawhat, whyyyyy?. ODA: hold my beer. Sanji will never get an increase higher than Zoro, Oda loves masturbating to Zoro and hates Sanji. ODA: hold my beer. Nami will never get Zeus it's just a throwaway gag exclusive to this arc. ODA: hold my beer. Luffy won't get an increase that exceeds a billion, doesnt matter if he beat commanders in that bounty range its too big of a jump. ODA: suck on deez nuts. Carrot is never going to join ever, what position is she going to fill anyway I mean just because she spends her entire time on the ship on the crow's nest doesn't mean shit you guys need to wake up and stop living in your head canon. GODA: ???How about hush next time and stop talking like Oda is bound to these imaginary set of predefined rules and he will never break free of his own writing?
Amazing chapter by the way, these are the kind of chapters I dream about.

Has anyone else mentioned the submarine? Doesn't the Sunny have a sub? Couldn't they escape through it?
Also what about Orlumbus? No cover story yet. Could his armada arrive to help out?
Someone also reminded us that the submarine can only fit like 3 people max.
Forget the Grand fleet they're being saved for an epic war thing down the line as the narrator foreshadowed at the end of Dressrosa.Hello new avatar. Fantastic chapter, the cake eating lived up to the hype.
I've seen a lot of theories and ideas thrown around about the ending, but here's another one I'm tossing in. What if we see the return of the Klabautermann? The Sunny is being set up as the Merry's successor, so it seems natural that the Sunny will develop a similar bond with the crew by the end of the series. And WCI is the most focus the ship has gotten since it was built, so now seems like a good time to start that plotline up again.
I'm not saying we're going to get some huge emotional moment like the escape from Enies Lobby or anything (it's too early for that, and Franky should be there for the really big moments), but more like something closer the Merry fixing itself on Skypeia. Maybe the Sunny will do something that it "shouldn't" normally do, like stay afloat despite heavy damage, or drift against the currents. Something that's subtle, but gives the crew a chance to fix things.
I really like this idea, wound be nice for the Sunny to finally speak up but it's not shared the tender love and care moments like the Merry with all these idiots trying their best to keep it in good shape. Until this arc the Sunny hasn't had so much as a scratch. The bond isn't developed to that extent yet. Once Franky repairs it, sure, but right now it's a long shot, but a nice idea nonetheless.

RE: Chapter 900: Bad End Musical (Break)
Wow, you step in BM's territory, don't expect your ship to survive! This is why Luffy needs to awaken his shit already and learn how to rubberize his damn boat
I'll fix that for you: Big Mom is hallucinating because of the deliciousness of the cake; her soul is feeling the same effects. And what giant piece of her soul showed up in this chapter? The ship, of course.
I say the only part of that ending sequence that was a hallucination was the one we saw from the Mama Chanter's perspective–the destruction of the Sunny.
Either way, I really hope we just go right to the next arc from here!
Hmmm......I blame Sanji >:-(
Party next chapter haha
Imagine Vinsmokes get held captive though. Trying to think how they would escape. Bege needs a way out too.
