    Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

      oh god I used to play those online virtual pet sites all the time as a kid. i'm ashamed to admit how many billions of hours I spent as a young teen training my pets and hoarding stuff

      For nostalgia's sake today I actually somehow unbelievably remembered my Neopets password and logged on to look at my (14 years old!) account. Most of the stuff I had in my deposit box and gallery is now super-rare/retired, i could probably sell it all and be a neopian billionaire, lol. I remember collecting most of that stuff too, though it feels like a hundred years ago. It's like taking a peek back at my younger teen self, kinda surreal

      Do you have access to counseling where you live, Nolus? Maybe even someone through your university? I strongly suggest talking to a professional as soon as possible if you are considering self-harm.

      When I was a teenager, I used to self-injure to deal with my (then) depression. From experience, I can tell you that any superficial relief you may feel from cutting will fleeting and not worth it. It will not fix or help the underlying issue whatsoever. I have terrible scars on my arm that will never go away, even though I stopped cutting 13 years ago and am perfectly happy with my life now. Please don't do that to yourself. Seek help.

      And if you feel drawn to cut with that particular knife, go throw it away. Right now. Or at least put it somewhere you can't get to it.

    • RE: Iga is doing wtf Konami isn't doing (Bloodstained kickstarter)

      @Gekko135:

      Last I checked, they attempted to turn the franchise into something like Diablo.

      Book of Memories….how low this series has fallen.

      But with a crazy fool like Kojima and the design mastery of Guillermo del Toro working together for this game....yeah, this sounds good.

      I played through this teaser and I was numb with dread during most of it. Starts you off in a dark, interrogation-like room that leads to a well-lit, if somewhat dilapidated, hallway. Locked door, swinging light. Picture of a woman torn out by the clock, one minute til midnight in military time. There's an announcer on the radio, chronicling a series of murders, none of which seem related outside of the fact that the killers were all fathers who murdered their families in terrible ways.

      You go through the door at the end of the hall...and you're back in the same hallway, but now things are just a little bit different. It's getting darker. You hear noises. The door at the end of the hallway is closed. You walk up to it, confused...and the locked bathroom door swings open. You investigate and the door locks behind you. There's a deformed fetus in the sink, pulsating. The door starts shaking, like someone is trying the handle. There are sounds, the fetus crying and something else. After a while, the door unlocks and you can progress down the hallway again, and the door is open for you.

      Next hallway. Things are darker. It's quiet. You turn the corner and you see this

      standing there, motionless.

      You stop. You feel yourself go cold. It doesn't move.

      You slowly walk forward, and the light above it goes out, leaving that section of the hallway shrouded in shadow. But the door is open at the end, and you have to walk through it to proceed.

      I love this shit.

      The helplessness, the subtle decay, the heavy ball of fear sitting in my stomach, dreading to turn the corner or look back because you know you're going to see something unspeakable sooner or later…a swinging refrigerator dripping blood, a face in the crack of a door, something pale and twitching crawling out of the bathtub behind you. The sanity-stretching repetitiveness of the hallway. Moving pictures, organic sounds. Something bloody and moving in a paper bag. Scrawled messages on the wall, shrouded in red light.

      This is horror ambience done right.

      This is the sort of fear and dread a player should feel when playing a Silent Hill game.

      I've been playing this series since SH1, over 15 years ago. It has been, and probably will continue to be, one of my most favorite horror series. But this series has fallen on some hard times over the years, and has churned out some seriously mediocre games. Team Silent is gone, doing different things. Akira Yamaoka is gone. The last couple of developers have only grabbed the skirt of what this series should be. So I'm glad we have a new team with some big names working on this, because it's become stagnant and needs something fresh to make it relevant again. And since this teaser is apparently more of a demonstration of the sort of atmosphere we can expect than actual gameplay, I'd say they know what they're doing when it comes to raising a chill.

      I think this could be really promising. And if it turns out to be a dud...well, that's nothing new for this franchise. But by god, I am hopeful.

    • RE: How was your Day 2 (general chat)

      @Nolus:

      Is it too much to ask that my love actually do… love-ey stuff with me? Over the internet?

      Is he normally romantic and now suddenly isn't? Or has he always shied away from romantic expression?

      If it's the latter, he just may not be the "romantic" type, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care for you. My partner and I are not really the romantic sort to show up with wine and flowers, or take moonlit walks on the beach, but we're crazy about each other. We express our love differently (through humor, for example). Is it possible that he might not be the kind of guy who is comfortable with obvious displays of affection? Is he aware that you feel neglected?

      If it's the former and this behavior is new, you should definitely set aside a time to discuss the change. Try not to assume the worst; it could be something going on in his life that could be totally unrelated to your relationship.

      Either way, you should talk to him about it and see if you can both come to an understanding where your needs are met as a couple.

    • RE: Destiny

      It did that for us too. We put in the download code and then the store crashed before we could start the download. Keep trying to go back to View Downloads in the PSN store, it should show up eventually. It did for us after a number of tries.

      Downloading the beta now. 12 gigs, wow.

      It's not just you, the servers are probably on fire from all the people trying to download and play this beta at the same time. Keep at it, it took us a few tries to redeem the codes but eventually we slipped through.

      SO hype for this beta right now!!

      @Hiroy:

      It was fun but I just went back to the bullet hell of Crimzon Clover instead.

      I looked up a video for this game and my god. It's beautiful, but how can you even tell what you're doing?! You'd have to have nerves of steel for sure; just watching someone else play this made me hold my breath.

      @Demon:

      Did you have an improperly placed sensor bar? Were you not putting the Wiimote down and letting the Wii Motion Plus Calibrate in the beginning of the game? I'm asking a serious question because I'm legitimately baffled.

      Oh hey, one thing actually that might explain this… did you have a Wiimote that had Motion Plus Built in, or did you have a regular Wiimote that had the little Motion Plus add-on dongle on the bottom? I used the actual gold Zelda Wiimote that came with the LE version of the game. Is that it?! Did the Wiimotes with built in M+ Function better than ones that used the dongle?! I seriously need to know where the whole "The controls don't work" criticism is coming from because that's so far away from the experience I had, and even my brother is having (He just started playing SS last week) that I'm just completely floored...

      The system I used was borrowed from a friend of ours and I thought I was using a Wii Motion Plus that had the motion thingy already built in. Maybe it did use the adapter. I'll have to ask Gekko - I honestly don't entirely remember, it was a while ago. I did allow the Wiimote to calibrate. Gekko set up the sensor bar and everything seemed to be working fine as far as I could tell. Maybe it was a hardware issue? If it was a hardware issue with the system/sensor bar/Wiimote, I would actually be relieved. It was very confusing to hear people insist they've had no problems with the controls while I could barely get the bird's wings to flap.

      @Satsuki:

      Maybe Nintendo will take pity on you and port it to the 3DS or their future handheld device.

      I would absolutely buy it. I love me my handheld Zelda games.
