The inspiration from Batolomeu Português is clearly plausible scenario. And the parallels with Blackbeard/Whitebeard/Thatch case would be really interesting, whatever the outcome to the plot. Yet, is it a bit too soon to narrow it to Bartolomeu Português, no? Bartolomeu Dias and Bartholomew Roberts are also strong possibilities (even thought the second "seems" to be already taken by Kuma, but that could be argued to Português as well…).

Guys, I think you are over analyzing somethings:

-Neptune isn't the Villain, Hodi and Deckem are, its really that simple
-The glove was so that Deckem could shake Hodi's hand, it'd be pretty hard to shake his hand with those fins.

I think Neptune is easly manipulated by the left and right ministers.
