      @Blowfish:

      Monthly reminder that Yamato was introduced in the arc where we learn Kaido was just an Apprentice in Rocks, and the origins of other Pirate Apprentices' were explored in Oden's flashback. Also oddly has a mystical zoan fruit like a young Marco, or how Yamato is a powerhouse despite being a little naive like a young Kaido was sailing under Zebec.

      Oda's never recycled crew positions, if Zoro is still fighter, Yamato wont be. Zoro has to proclaim his role as Vice Captain or First mate before Luffy pops the question, or guys I'm almost certain Yamato will be their Pirate Apprentice.

      Just consider that strength and experience aren't mutually exclusive. Yamato at the moment is closer to a Samurai like Kinemon and others than a Pirate. This chapter confirms it, she's not fooling around or posing. But what does she know of sailing and adapting to new freakish environments we've come to know? Or braving a Buster call of Elite Marines?

      Yes she's strong, but she's inexperienced how it concerns facets of adventuring as a Pirate. Oda logic = Apprentice who is really strong.

      If she really is Oden then you are probably right. He too went around to adventures like an apprentice.

      However the point that she doesn't have experience is moot, as Chopper too had none and adapted really quickly.

    • RE: Eiichiro Oda: "The story is in the final phase"

      @black-leg:

      I can't get it out of my mind since I made my post so I'm going to need to write down what I think will happen from Wano onwards. I'll put it in a spoiler tag so people can ignore it if they want (although I'd be interested in others thoughts).

      I love theorizing about headcanon and I think at least something what you thought about might very well happen in some form. Here's my view on this:

      ! Ace's grave
      This was so obvious that I haven't even thought about this, of course Luffy would want to go visit Ace's grave at some point. I definitely think you are right about this happening right after Wano + the Weevil stuff. Adding retired Garp to the mix is kinda too much though unless Dragon too comes with them.
      ! Wano
      Big Mom will actually be defeated (at least temporarily) in this arc since the big banquet can't really happen if they have one of the Yonko running after them. She might return in Elbaf as a side-villain if her crew manages to escape with her.
      The most interesting part what I think might happen is that Dragon and revolutionaries will come to Wano to fight off CP-0 from capturing Straw Hats and we will have the long awaited reunion of father and son (family seems to be a recurring theme in Wano so it would make sense) and on post Wano learn bits what happened during the reverie and we might have a mini-arc (God Valley) in our hands before Elbaf that ends with a visit to Ace's grave with Sabo and perhaps even Vivi too.
      ! I would love to see Law stay relevant to the story this way and take detour for the Poneglyph and make a promise to meet them at Lodestar, but it's way more likely that the final piece is safe at Elbaf or with Shanks (maybe both) and that the pirate alliance will end here.
      My theory is that Vegapunk will be introduced after the banquet as Wano's borders will open and he will come with escorts to cure Smile epidemic. I mean why would Oda not make our lovable sword otaku visit Wano?
      Vegapunk His own arc is definitely not happening in the sense, but he is clearly important character we will definitely see again after post Wano.
      Gold Valley I can see this being a mini-arc about Revolutionaries, Vivi and mainly Dragon and his motives.
      Shanks I suspect as much that it might go something like this, but just in Elbaf not after it. Elbaf Rather than having two arcs just for Big Mom, I think this will be mainly Shanks' arc and Blackbeard's partially since it will 100% sure to be all about honor and I really can't see it not anything less than at least 10 volume fable as it's literally GIANT island. I mean it could hold more top tier fights at once than we can imagine.
      Although I think you are probably right about Big Mom and her crew getting demolished here (as a side mission), if she is not stopped during Wano. This could earn Straw Hats the respect of giants too so the supposedly antagonist Loki would turn to their ally.
      I think Straw Hats will also fight Blackbeard Pirates for the first time here, but lose miserable and Shanks crew will fight them to their death (doesn't have to return hat this way).
      ! Lodestar My view is that this place is the literal graveyard of pirates where WG pulls all of their remaining man power against pirates that have made it this far to stop them from reaching Laugh Tale.
      ! **Laugh Tale/**Final War
      This is mostly just pure headcanon orgy from my part as the final war at Marijoa might just be side characters along with Revolutionaries to storm Tenryuubito and their allies down.
      The final war might not in a sense happen for Straw Hats aside from Robin at all unless Imu & Gorosei are actually pirates and owns the One Piece all along or that Blackbeard steals the One Piece and uses the Ancient "Weapons" to ally or subjugate Imu.
      What I agree with you tho is that Red Line will fall on the spot Laboon had been bashing for 50 years as it will be a "romantic" to have the massive unbreakable thing fall while Binks Sake is sung. I don't know how, when or why, but it will happen. I also agree that Fishman Island will be destroyed as part of the grand plan meant for Ancient "Weapons".
      ! It could go like this: Blackbeard follows Straw Hats to Laugh Tale or the other way around and learn the history and everything then they will have their 2nd battle (first being their complete loss at Elbaf). They will lose again, but not as hard and Blackbeard will escape with info on Ancient "Weapons" and go on with his world domination plan. However Straw Hats will now have the real history and the info on how to use the Ancient "Weapons" like intended and goes on to stop Blackbeard at the heart of WG - Marijoa with help of all their friends. End result will be that is they win and fulfill the purpose of Ancient "Weapons" and then have one helluva party.

      If we're changing the topic, I have always believed Vivi will return before Laugh Tale. And that Smoker will join the Straw Hats. I never believed in number theory because of Smoker.

      I'm happy to talk about Smoker joining for a while. Fifteen years since I first posted about Smoker. Still waiting. Never give up. No surrender. Spread your wings and fly. You deserve to be a champion.

      Even though it's unlikely that Vivi joining, it's not impossible considering the recent events at Levely. On the otherhand it's now 100% sure that she will meet them again before Laugh Tale regardless what happens.

      Now, I really want to know what do you think is Smoker's dream.

      I would rewrote the second half chapter 789 where Doflamingo puppeteers Rebecca against Violet.

      • Instead of Rebecca picking a real sword from somewhere she would have still kept her own sword.
      • Luffy wouldn't arrive on this chapter to save them.
      • Rebecca would hit Violet with her sword making it seems like she would die, but since the sword is BLUNT, it would result in no permanent damage.
      • This would make their pacifism count as something as it would actually save Violet's life.
      • Doflamingo would be seething on the next chapter when he sees that Violet is still alive and only then would Luffy arrive.

    • RE: Sabo, Ace and Marineford 2.0

      Straw Hats aren't going to backtrack straight back to Red Line at this point of story, it would make no sense. It's more likely that Sabo was framed for the assasination attempt at Vivi and like Deicide said Vivi was also branded a criminal since they failed to kill her. This would be great as it would allow Vivi to meet rest of Straw Hats again soon and get to know them personally, even if she wouldn't continue to travel with them to Laugh Tale. Her strength really isn't an issue storyvise as there is always a possibility that Monet's fruit already on the ship. How interesting it would be that a desert kingdom heir would eat Snow Logia?

      If there will ever be a Marineford 2.0, it the finale and the one being on execution stand will be Luffy, not Sabo. It would give a nice excuse for the whole Grand-Line to go fight for him or see him get killed.

      @bungee:

      My guess is that Sanji has some sort of secret that makes him valuable in the eye of the powerfull (Big Mom and the Government). He is maybe the key to resolve something (related to Ancient Waepons for example). To me, it's seems plausible since we know the Government is trying to get more power in his side and thus, trying to capture Sanji to get it. We don't know much about Big Mom yet and i'm aware of that but I will assume this : since the death of WB, the world is "upisde down". We saw Big Mom weakened by Kidd. But she doesn't seems to react to Kidd attack since he's still alive doing stuff freely. It's seems strange for somoene well known to be cruel. My guess is she's finally fighting back by trying to get her hand on Sanji so she can profit the power his family got. Wait a minute … I just thought about something new 😄 Forget about the ancient weapons (that doesn't seem plausible at all). But the fact that Big Mom is trying to form an alliance with Sanji's family is kinda possible. Then, this arc could possibly involve the Marine since maybe it would be about "who is fast enough to form an alliance with the Vinsmokes".
      PS : forgive my english, it's not my native language

      Well Kidd kinda of lost his hand, that might be related to the Big Mom incident.

      ! http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad16/duma1006/pop_one_piece_volumen_45035.jpg

      In all of these cases like others, they're purposely meant to be generic and vague for certain reasons. Sometimes its is that Oda hasn't gotten the designs finalized yet (although the emperor one looks closer to finish than most). Other times its to not to reveal too much to the reader. If the image that accompanied Otohime's speech looked too much like Luffy (who does have a distinct outline), it would spoil the surprise for Oda's main audience. Or it looks nothing like him because Oda wanted to make it known that Otohime didn't have a particular person in mind when she said that stuff, in the sense she had no clue what they would look like.

      Storywise, the person meant to fulfill the promise is clearly supposed to be Luffy. He's the protagonist and he has already connected with Shirahohsi.

      Those are for unfinished consepts, but in this case it's pretty obvious the silhuette in the scene is pictured to look like Shanks. I don't mind at all if that is just a red-herring, but you can't denay that it looks exactly like him.

      • Best Moment of the Year
      Propably Rhino Scheider to the face. Then again the downtime after that asskicking was one of the worst moments of the year.

      • Character of the Year Retired Sengoku. He stole the whole show on those few chapters.

      • Best New Character Nekomamushi. I like his design and persona.

      • Best Fight of the Year
      Luffy vs Doflamingo.

      • Best Surprise of the Year Senor Pink's flashback.It was the most touching moment since Going Merry's funeral (yes, it was better than Ace's last moments).

      Honorable Mention: Gear 4. Didn't expect it this soon.

      • Quote of the Year I did like the Doflamingo's speech to Tsuru on the escort ship.

      • Funniest Moment of the Year Bartolomeo's homage fist.

      • Shame of the Year Luffy taking Rebecca's blunt sword to the face. If Oda would have just let it hit Viola, it would have actually made some positivity to their resolution to be pacifists, it's not like she would have died or be even severely harmed by one strike. The whole scene just looked to me that he just forgot that the sword is actually blunt.

      • Worst Character of the Year
      Rebecca. No, it was not enough for her to be a nuisance before, she just had to get rescued over and over again. Atleast her character was consistently shit thru the whole arc. I really hope Vivi will influence her during Reverie, so that there will be something positive to salvage.

      • Worst New Character of the Year Not really anyone, but going with Sheepshead. You would think a billion beli pirate would have better subordinates….

      • Worst Fight of the Year Sanji & Brook vs Sheepshead. Was it really that epic that the same scene had to be drawn 3 times?

      • Worst Surprise of the Year So it wasn't the BILLION BELI dude that took down the country's top fighters, but some lame ass gas. If that was an attempt to make Cesar seem more dangerous after Punk Hazard disaster, it's not working.

      @Crossword:

      Shame of the Year: The "I need to recharge my Haki!" sequence. Ugh. Oda just had to choose the most trite, ridiculed, bog-standard shonen way to express that. Just a simple change in wording would've made it less groan-worthy.

      Oh yes, I was cringing when I was reading that. I think if a scene like that appears again my mind will automatically refuse to accept the consept of Haki needing recharging, and just turn it into normal fatigue of body and mind.

      Water 7 is propably my favourite arc because of the feeling of Straw Hat crew falling apart (Sabaody just didn't felt the same to me). If something similiar little by little happenings in a future arc would happen I would be thrilled.
      Enies Lobby then followed up as my 2nd favourite because of the many touching moments and great fights, kind of like Arlong Park on steroids.

      My least favourite arc is Punk Hazard, it was way too long compared to the events it had and could have easily been 20 chapters shorter. Though worst about the arc was that it lost much of it's potential in almost everyone reduced sidestanders.
      The person swap could have been so much more than just Sanji being a pervert again and Zoro curbstomping Monet was really boring and just felt like fanservice moment for him, if it were Nami having an even match with her it would have some story value, since she was the one who wanted to save the kids the first place.

      My 2nd least favourite is Long Ring Long Land, I am so glad I wasn't a weekly reader of One Piece at that point yet. While it has lots of enjoyable comedy and crew teamwork moments, it doesn't really bring story any further (until the end) making it feel like the canon filler dubbed by many.

      @Joy_Boy's_Will:

      So, I have seen a lot of jokes regarding Sanji's role since the timeskip and I have a theory about how this might change. I think we are about to have an Arc that is focused on Sanji, and his growth since the timeskip.

      So, what has been the purpose of the different arc's since the timeskip?

      Fishman island: Introducing the basic's of what the Strawhat's learned during the timeskip. Including Haki.

      Punk Hazard/ Dressrosa(i.e Doflamingo Arc): Focus on Law's character, history and abilities. This includes the importance of his devil fruit. Also revealed Luffy's gear 4.

      A lot of fan's are unhappy with Sanji's treatment during these two Arc's. The straw hats were vastly stronger than the fishman villains in the fishman island arc and when Sanji had his chances to show off vs. Vergo and Doflamingo, Oda didn't deliver. This is understandable though. Vergo had beef with Law. Law needed to be the one who took Vergo down. Doflamingo was the main boss, i.e Luffy's opponent. Oda used Sanji in both of these situation's to deflect-not defeat- these guys in order to protect weaker characters.

      With respect to showing off what Sanji's capable of after the time skip, we still don't know much. The same can actually be said of Zoro as well. Despite him having a bit more glory since the timeskip, Zoro has really not been tested yet. Luffy got the first major reveal in Dressrosa with his gear 4 technique. This makes sense to me. Luffy carries the most load for the straw hats, and facing off against doflamingo would require him to show his hand. I think Oda is going to milk introducing the straw hats new abilities. Oda doesn't want to tip the straw hats hand so quickly. So when will we get to see what Sanji can do?

      I think Sanji is up next. I think Oda dropped us a hint when he revealed Sanji's bounty poster. Sanji will play an important role in either this arc or the next, and that would the perfect time to spotlight what Sanji has really learned.

      On a related note it's possible this arc would also reveal more history for Sanji. The theory on Sanji being a noble is one I believe is likely. With this being said, this could be an ongoing theme for the new world. Law's history/ abilities were a focal point of the dressrosa arc(Doflamingo). We know the straw hats will end up at wano kuni shortly after Zou, given Kin'emon and Monomonsuke are still in the story. There is also some speculation Zoro may be related to Ryuma, from the wano kingdom. Perhaps Zoro's abilities/ history will be showcased during the Wano arc.

      Thus,
      1. Doflamingo arc: Law's History/ Abilities( Not a straw hat but a vastly important ally)
      2. Zou/ bounty poster arc: Sanji's history/ abilities
      3. Wano arc: Zoro's history/ abilities

      thoughts?

      I actually think Zou will also focus on their allies too, so far Luffy has 7 captains under him and he will most likely get atleast 16 like Whitebeard had. Perhaps at the end of this arc we will also see the Revolutionary meeting and the whole Blackbeard Crew.

      It's possibly Oda could introduce new powers like Usopp's haki in Zou for the Curlybrows, but I don't think this is going to be the defining arc for any of them. I just don't see Sanji being a noble either, this gotta be something else, like Vegapunk wants to study his eyebrowns or something.

      Wano will propably be the beginning of long character growth not only for Straw Hats, but Blackbeards too.

      @RomanceDawn:

      Would you believe me if I said that Robin tearing up over Ryu whatever made me tear up a little? First the Dressrosa face fault and now this. Robin is still steadily opening up even after all this time. I honestly think it's going to lead into something significant for her. The 6th Person perhaps?

      Bunny girl seems to be wearing a gauntlet or something that gives her the use of electricity. Glad she was able to dodge and get a hit in on Zoro. There might be some really promising Mink fighters to be seen! And wonderful! Confirmation that they aren't all the same animal!

      At first couldn't believe how Oda could have wasted half a chapter on that dragon, then I realized I need some revolution in my heart too.

      That's what it looks like at first, but could it just be a huge blow of armanent haki? The gauntlet is pretty dark on that panel despite being white.

      By the way, Nami was wearing different clothes when they were shown on Zou, they must have ransacked Sunny Go.

    • RE: Who is the final villain in One Piece? 2.0

      @MetaMario:

      I've always pictured him acting like Shanks to some kid in Fuusha, passing on the Straw Hat and telling him to go be a pirate. Sounds super cliche but Oda isn't exactly new to the parallel game.

      Another ending would just be the Straw Hats (maybe slightly older, I dunno) sailing off into the sunset, Luffy eager for a brand new adventure.

      The "Usopp the narrator telling the story" could be really great too, but only if he's married to Kaya!

      Same here, I have this picture in my mind the ending being the same as the beginning, Luffy spending time in Makino's bar and passing on the straw hat to some kid. And I think that kid already exists.

      I wouldn't really mind the Usopp ending either though, that would be hillarious.

      Blackbeard is supported by Ten Titanic Captains . Before the TS he only had 9, who's the 10th captain

      I have a feeling it might be new fishman character.

      Also, what was the deal between Garp and Rayleigh? Oda added that plotline and suddenly abandon it

      It was clearly a love triangle that got hinted at by Shakky when he mentioned Garp used to chase her. /theory.

      The One Piece World gets more and more complex with each new arc.
      And what's with all the meetings?

      The kings' meeting: Reverie
      Big Mom's meeting: the Tea Party
      Dragon's meeting: Meeting of the revolutionary leaders
      The meeting of the worst Generation: creating alliances

      Is there some anniversary coming up?

      It's the gears man, THE GEARS ARE TURNING!

      Maybe an alliance against something/someone that treatens Wano?

      If your Flood Theory is correct I wonder if we get something from Zou, massive elephant walking on top of ocean will surely be interesting insight to that.
