Let's talk about fun.
Because I just discovered this band a few days ago and it's quickly become one of my favorite bands of all time. It's an indie pop band formed by Nate Ruess, who you might remember if you liked The Format (an indie rock/pop band from 2001-2008). I really love these guys just because they put there all into their songs; it's something I don't think you really see from most artists these days. Not only are the lyrics meaningful, but the music is a great fusion of horns blaring and clam bass melodies. Everything seems balanced, and they know exactly how to manipulate your emotions: while most of their songs are pretty darn happy-go-lucky, some give off a more sad vibe (check out "The Gambler"). They're not super well-known yet and they only have one album released, but oh boy do I find them fantastic. Check em out! :D
p.s. I've been missing in action for a few months now and this was the only thing I could come up with upon signing in again. c:
p.s.s. Since I didn't spend much time looking around, feel free to direct me to an appropriate thread if need be. cc:

RE: Shichibukai strength
Luffys victory over crocodile was situational? How so? It was a one on one fight in an area that crocodile should be invincible on and he got smashed. If they were to fight anywhere else luffy would be able to take down crocodile easily, see whitebeard war.
Technically, he did indeed win by his own strength. But the liquids allowed him to actually hit Crocodile. Without the assistance of them, who would win? I think we saw the answer to that question when Luffy was beaten by him without the liquids.
Luffy stopped Crocodile's attack at Marineford because he coated his leg in water: once again, liquids are involved. To beat Crocodile without liquids would mean a firm grasp of Haki, which is something that Luffy has not had up until the point.
I don't think that it's correct to measure the strengths of Moria and Crocodile based on their fights with Luffy; Crocodile for the reasons I explained, and Moria because without Nightmare Luffy, I don't think the Starwhats would have won.

RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
guys I'm just wonder how to open vs 100 battle ?
I just played 5-round Time Attack mode on easy with like 13 characters and it was unlocked for me.
what does nightmare island looks like
How do I unlock Nightmare Island? :v
How can I unlock tashigi, kaku and marco (to beginning i have choose vivi)?
Tashigi is clear Time Attack, any difficulty, with 10 characters. Kaku is clear Time Attack, any difficulty, with 15 characters.
I'm pretty sure there's a mission in Marineford for Marco. Not positively sure which one; sorry. :c
-
RE: Shichibukai strength
What you guys need to consider about Moria's and Crocodile's losses to Luffy is that both had losses that were incredibly situational. If it was a one on one fight, I think results would be quite different.

RE: General Sonic the Hedgehog Thread (Now With Movie 3 & Knuckles)
Yes, the issue is that people compare the series from when it was good to when it was not. Sega have never worked out how to make sonic work in 3D, the adventure games were a decent enough first step but then sega went backwards instead of forwards, and dimps have quite merrily been chugging out mediocre little rollercoaster rides for years without understanding what made the old games fun in the first place.
I understand that new games are often compared to old games in the series, but we can't do that forever. I know why people do it of course: they want the same Sonic fun that it used to have. But if Sega can't do that, which apparently they can't, maybe it's time to stop comparing Sonic to the old games. And if that's the case, and you still dislike new Sonic games, then just drop the series.
If Sega turned out a great game for free, that would be "cool".
If Sega turned out a great game and made us pay for it, that would be the way things should be.
Whereas what they're actually doing is handing out a turd and expecting people to pay for it.
Unfortunately, that is absolutely true, from what I'm seeing from public opinion. And if that's the case, fans of retro Sonic probably won't purchase it. But at the same time, a bunch of people still will buy it and so Sega makes money, and that's just about all most companies care about. Rarely do you have a company where it really cares about the fans; it's mostly just about what can make them money. :v
But at the same time, we really don't know why Sega made the game: it could have been a combination of seeing both a business opportunity and a way to get the fans back on their sides. In any case, I think Sonic 4 was a good idea, just a poorly executed one.
Well seeing as they've screwed up with the people they were targeting in the the first place, I would think this would be the least they would try and do.
Unless of course they get enough money from the furries anyway.
I don't see why they can't do both. And I'm sure that's what'll happen.
@RobbyBevard:
I'm so sorry to have offended your sensibilities by desiring an actual professional company to provide a product similar to what they have promised, that gets the minimum basics right, on par with the quality of something they were able to achieve 15 years ago on far inferior hardware, which at the same time doesn't constantly say in their interviews "we don't really care what the fans want, they should just accept what we give them because what we're making is good enough and it would be hard to fix".
It's asking a lot, I know.
Like I said, Sonic may never be as fun as it was way back in 1991. If that's the case, you can either stick with the series until they actually get it right, or you can drop it right now.

RE: General Sonic the Hedgehog Thread (Now With Movie 3 & Knuckles)
It's not even necessary to play the game. Sega have already admitted that this doesn't play like the old style games, and are promising all the necessary changes "will be made in part 2".
And if the entire game hadn't gone to partnernet, leaked and been roundly mocked, it would have been even worse.
Yes there are a lot of idiotic creepy sonic fans. But sonic has the fandom it deserves since sega haven't put out a great sonic game in 15 years.
I dunno, I'd argue that the Adventure series and the Advance series were both rather enjoyable. Battle was pretty cool too, really. But maybe that's just me; I know a lot of people still compare Sonic to the original games, which is where a lot of the series' issues come from.
Ahahaha
What is there to be grateful for. Sega spotted a business opportunity, and went for it with the same ineptness that has been been characteristic of them for the last ten years.
They're taking an initiative to give the fans what they want, and that's still pretty cool. Whether or not they're totally messing up with Episode 1, if they actually do add upon and fix episode 2, I think that would be pretty coolio of them. To argue that they only made it because it's a business opportunity is sort of silly in my opinion: most video game companies' main goal IS to make money, after all.

RE: General Sonic the Hedgehog Thread (Now With Movie 3 & Knuckles)
I really dislike Sonic fans, and it's for the same exact reason that I dislike Zelda fans: neither fanbase knows what they want.
Sonic fans complain about anything and everything they get the chance to complain about, whether it's a good aspect of a game or not. What's that, you want something more akin to the original Sonic games? Well okay retrofags, here's Sonic 4.
General response: "WHERE IS 16-BIT SONIC WHY ARE HIS EYES NOT THE RIGHT COLOR I HATE THIS GAME"
What's that? You want a game with all the Day level aspects of Sonic Unleashed but without the Werehog gimmick? Well okay, here's Sonic Colors!
General response: "This i going to suck because it isn't mainstream Sonic," or "This is a Galaxy ripoff".
All the responses I have listed, I have seen MANY times in the past from Sonic fans. I remember when Colors was first announced (when we only had its name and the original trailer), people were saying that it was a Galaxy clone that was just destined to fail. I defended it saying it's way too early to judge that kind of thing, and months later, it appears that most people are starting to think it looks okay. HMM
If fans of Sonic need to find things to hate about Sonic all the time, why don't they just give up on the franchise? He's provided quite a bit of material to make them give up on him, but they keep bitching a fit. Don't be silly: play the games before judging them and do not be a nostalgiafag. Games evolve and so does Sonic. But when you get the rare chance when Sega listens to its fanbase and makes a Sonic 4, be grateful not a pissy little shit.
YEAH I MAD
p.s. not to anyone in particular, just a personal vendetta against sonic fans.

RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
I've figured out all the "translated" condition of the wiki.
Mystery K.O is when you K.O the opponent with the Level 3 Special Move.
That's what I thought. Whenever I faced bosses and beat them with a Level 3 Special, I'd get the Mystery KO fulfilled.
Awesome though, thanks for confirming. <3
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
I love Chopper, particularly because of his second special.
Usopp is rather fun too if you get to be familiar with him.

RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
How Do I unlock Mihawk I Have No Idea And Its Keeping Me Up At Night!!!!!!!!!
He's the boss of East Blue, which I believe you unlock after Marineford? Not 100% on that though, since I'm still focusing on Marineford.
And on the Ennies lobby/ Skypiea island is there a specifc amount of meat I have to get before Luffy and Ace? (the level near the shop)
Most of the time when I do these levels, I choose my highest leveled character and just take out the computers first. It becomes much easier to complete.
What does a Mystery KO mean. I never understand
Still not sure on this one. I've completed it a few times before. It might be do a special KO or do a kill in that Rush form you go into if you tap A+B+Y+X.
Wow. That's just bad.
Did they just get Buggy's biggest Anti-Fan to design him? Seriously. He can't take hits. He can't deal hits. When he levels up he gets 1 stat per level.
Sucks considering how good he was in UC
I think it's supposed to be because he is pretty lacking in power during Impel Down and Marineford, and only got out of their alive because of luck and using the power of others.
Buggy really isn't very strong at all, so I'm not surprised that he's basically the worst character in the game.
Mission 6 on Last Resort IS JUST IMPOSSIBLE. How the hell I'm supposed to get 6 diamond when I can't find even one? I hope I don't have to increase the item stats because that would be ridicolous.
My friend was playing this last night while I was watching. My god, it looks ridiculously dumb. I'm guessing it's almost entirely based on luck, so if you don't start seeing them, you need to restart. But maybe upping your item stat wouldn't hurt.

RE: Timeskip Predictions
You know, it would be just like Oda to have the new arc start with all 9 SHs changing very little in appearance over the timeskip. With all the predictions on how the 9 of them will change, it would be the perfect way to troll us.
And I personally think that Brook's ability to lean at a 40 degree angle will play a pivotal role in the SH's adventures at some point. Just you wait.
I don't think it'll be any radical change in their looks; it's only a two year timeskip. Minor changes would make sense, but I don't think it'll be anything huge.

RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Hey guys, how do you unlock the Nightmare Kingdom? I've heard you need to 100% every level before it, but I want to hear it from someone who's actually done it.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Not that I'm aware of sorry.
Im stuck on the same level too, its driving me insane at most I can get 3 or 4 but 5/6…wont even see that many before the time is up.
Only need to finish this level and I will have completed all missions and get Roger.
Anyone else know any good advice for that level?
I think I remember this one. Is that with you versus Kizaru and Nami?
Yeah I just used Luffy and KO'd them both in a few seconds and then collecting everything was a breeze. I cleared it first try, but maybe I was just lucky.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Is there any way to know what all the objectives are for each level?
http://onepiecegb.wiki.fc2.com/
This is getting real old.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Just picked this up from a guy who I get imports from. Already loving it so far. Just was wondering some of your thoughts on the best approches to leveling characters. I've read trying to balence the stats is a. Waste of time and individual focus is better.
Get to Impel Down and beat Magellan.
Just power level in his boss battle. You can go in with level 1 characters and just knock him into the lava when he jumps at you. You'll be at level 20~25 in just a few battles of doing this. <3
-
RE: *Crashes through a Window*
c) I did in fact steal whoever made the intro with the door kicking's idea, because, hey, what better way to introduce yourself then breaking through furniture?
As long as you recognize that I am superior to you and always will be, then we shouldn't have any issues.
If that is of any sort of problem to you, I can call my friend Vincent's father.
Vincent's father is a rhino, so you'd be smart to just BACK OFF.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Just got Jimbei, as well as Vivi and Wapol supports~
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Level grinding Buggy is atrocious.
I know your pain. I been trying to lvl Zoro up for ages now. Just not happening
Protip, guys:
Go to the Magellan Boss mission.
Pick any character.
Knock Magellan into fire once. Stay in the middle platform and Magellan will jump at you.
Hit him in mid-air to make him fall into the lava again.
That's power-leveling for you. I got Ace from level 1 to level 13 by doing this four times.
And it's REALLY easy.
Bonus: You get 900 beli each time you beat the mission.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Beat the Buggy vs Hammock and Kizaru. Was easier than I thought.
The one in Marineford where you need to avoid them for 60 seconds? I didn't find it that hard. D:
You start the game with Vivi don't you?
At least I did 0.o
You have a choice of Vivi, Smoker, and Marco.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Just unlocked Crocodile.
On a roll tonight~
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Been trying to unlock Ace. How do you do that?
Right below the shop in Marineford. I think you just need to have 50% or more health, but I got all three on my first try, so you might need to have more than 75% health.
Where do you unlock Kiji from? I have Ace, Magellan and Jinbei already so I assume I have the area for him already.
He's the boss of Skypiea/Enies Lobby/Thriller Bark. All you need to do is beat him.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
So I picked Gigant Battle up for the first time in a week and unlocked Ace, Magellan, and Aokiji today.
Must say, Ace does ridiculously well with combos.
-
RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
@Badass:
Yeah, I was considering using Boappu for my Fire Type, but if his moves are as bad as they seem, I may just opt for either Kuitaran or Hihidaruma.
Unless I decide to use TMs on Boappu.
If you don't have a vendetta against legendaries, you can catch Victini pretty early on (provided you get the Liberty Ticket from Wi-Fi) and use him.
-
RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
Do you know of any links that contain what pokemon levels attacks are learned (English or Japanese)?
I'm really trying to avoid spoilers for the end of the game so I haven't been to any of the main English sites for a little while.
Wait…
O.O
IT DOESN'T LEARN ANY MOVES IF IT EVOLVES!!!
WTF?!
I was looking at Bulbapedia and it says that none of the trio learn moves in their evolutions! Is this right? Did they just not get the update? They seem to have all of the other moves.... (EDIT: >_< Japanese sites are showing the same thing!)
Wow, guess I'm holding off on that for a while.
Nope, that's right; they don't learn moves after the evolve. The monkeys don't really learn many good moves anyway, though, so I'm only keeping mine on my team until I need a new spot.
-
RE: *Crashes through a Window*
Woah it's almost like I'm looking through a mirror.
I'm almost entirely sure you viewed my intro topic before making this.
-
RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
How early did you evolve your stone pokemon?
I have a moonstone (but I'm having the breeders train my Muuna) and I have a firestone but I'm not sure what levels I should wait for (Baoppu is 17 and his moves aren't very good..)
Munna was 17 and Yanappu was 15.
Munna's evo was well worth the Moon Stone. Very powerful.
Yanappu's evo is a lot quicker than Yanappu, but he's still lacking in power.
I'd say go ahead and evolve Munna but wait for Baoppu.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
The Unlimited Cruise games are certainly better than Gigant Battle, but I think that's about the extent of games that are superior.
Gigant Battle, despite it's lack of playable characters, really makes you work to earn your characters and supports, and the story mode is actually incredibly large and pretty darn long.
I'd say, if you include the Cruise games as just one giant game, then Gigant Battle is second place in terms of One Piece games.
-
RE: Chapter 597: "3D2Y" Discussion
@Don:
Lol, would be a rly weird ending when Luffy just reached Raftel, discovered what Roger hided their..and then everyone partying..the end!
I'd think Oda would include an epilogue.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
The game is #1 in Japan, Kotaku has it on the front page. It beat out a Monster Hunter (tho admitably not THE Monster Hunter) game.
Until Black and White comes out in a couple of days.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
I'm sorry about topic off but serious i want to get a good reason .
my thought buggy will be shichibukai , i know that was so funny thought but could be true cuz since jinbei , moria not shichibukai anymore
see this part :
[qimg]http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/643/buggyj.png[/qimg]in topic : them design buggy with more power than sanji , zoro , and near from luffy power so why them make this ?
also i read land festival is buggy island with anther mean this island is owned to buggy pirates even them make buggy is the island boss
anther something i note why them make buggy is one form playable character since there anther characters help luffy more than him like mr3 or mr2
my advice don't read any reply about future maps … it's will make u feel boring cuz u know every thing about the game :P
just play missions and discover the new mapsThough I had to struggle to read most of this, I think your general hypothesis is that Buggy was contacted to be a Shichibukai, which is the opinion of many One Piece fans at this point.
Buggy is playable because he was a very large part of the Impel Down and Marineford arcs, even if he just acted his way through both of them. It's not necessarily about who helped Luffy more; just who appeared more as a major player in the story.
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
I got to the Enies Lobby/Thriller Bark/Skypiea one by beating Aci in Impel Down. He's the lowest possible area there, if I remember correctly.
Yeah, it's sort of a tough fight too. I figured that's how I'd unlock Ace, but then I got a Log Pose and access to Skyenies Bark
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
I've beat the 'final boss' (Blackbeard) but there's still more, i've unlocked arlong park/baratie/logue town. I thought there's only shabondy-marine ford arc before i got this, but there's a lot of older ones. But they are all like zipped. 3/2 arcs in one (same with stage) and not enough characters from all arcs. There are a lot of supports but that doesn't sufficate.
I guess that will be last arc i got, but still there's plenty of objectives i haven't cleared. Not sure if im gonna do all of 'em, i'd rather play some VS with chars that i like rather than missions, especially since some are quite tedious >>'
ps. i'm missing 2 playable chars -> ace and jinbei, anyone knows how to unlock 'em?
Yeah there's Skypiea/Enies Lobby/Thriller Bark world and Baratie/Arlong Park/Loguetown world. C:
Dunno how to get either of them. I'd assume you might find Jinbei in Imepl Down and Ace in Marineford?
-
RE: PSN download question
Yeah you buy the game and then download it and then you play it :v
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Okay, I figured it out. To unlock a support, you need to get crowns on both Training Mode (hit the opponent with all moves at least once) AND a crown on the quintuple battles (5 in a row), done by just picking that character and winning all five battles. Just unlocked Zoro
Ah, that makes more sense.
Thanks bro <3
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Im pretty sure that's how i unlocked ussop. Tried the same with crocodile but it didn't work. Maybe he doesn't have support character. You sure you did it correct? If you do this right then a crown is displayed in bottom right corner of character while choosing character in training mode.
edit: i unlocked crocodile support by winning in one on one mode (the one with 5 fights). Playable he's awesome :D
Yeah, I have crowns by all my unlocked characters right now, but I don't have their supports. Maybe you need to be at a certain point in the story mode?
-
RE: How old are you??
I'm 16. Been reading One Piece since I was 8.
Half a life-time aw yeah.
-
RE: Pokemon's Fifth Generation
IMPORTENT QUESTION!
Soon, the game will be out and I ask you all this.
Who will you choose?
Bacondorf?
SmugDiva?
Or Ottercorn?Pokabu, Smugleaf, Wotter. >:C
Pokabu because his evolutions are PIG WRESTLERS
-
RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
HP
attack
special attack
items
supportps. it seems that ussop support is unlocked by doing every move he has in training mode.
Are you sure? Last night, I played as all the characters I've unlocked and I did all their moves in training mode, but I only received a Keimi and Pappug support. :C
for an admiral char, kizaru is pretty hard to control and ace is a bitch to defeat for me.
Kizaru takes a bit of practice, but you should definitely toy around with him in Training mode. You'll learn that he's pretty slow but powerful.
Slightly noobish question, but is Shiki playable? If so that is both epic and weird at the same time. Shiki over Robin?
Does anyone know what Dragon does as a support as well? I mean if he uses a lightning bolt that would be odd since that isn't confirmed…Shiki's only an assist.
When you tap Dragon as a support, you can choose one of the players on the map and he will blast wind at them, which makes them fall off ledges if they're not careful.
Just started the game. I'm not very good at controlls on this games, how can I do the ''finishing moves or special moves''?
Hold R or L and then type in the commands. If you're in story mode, you need to purchase them first.
I unlocked SkyImpel Lobby. And if you hit the barrel, Oars appears and destroy the tower. XD
Yeah, it's sad that the only place they squeezed Thriller Bark into was Oars knocking down a wall. =/
after i beat ace in marineford, why cant i go to any other place upward? and theres a message with 21 on it? any hints?
i mean the kanji here
[qimg]http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/2010/bonepiegb356250.png[/qimg]It's either that you need 21 support characters or that you need to 100% complete 21 missions.
I'm at Amazon Lily, fighting vs Sandersonia and her Yamata no Orochi, but I don't know what is supossed to do…. The count is always 0/2 (I tested Luffy's special movements, tried to evade attacks... But nothing happens xDD)
Could anyone help me?
Block the snake attack at the exact right moment and you'll bingo block. You'll know when the snakes attacking because it moves a little bit.

RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
All four worked for me too :3

RE: One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)
Once again, guys: http://onepiecegb.wiki.fc2.com/
Open that up in Google Chrome, have it automatically translate to English. It'll tell you everything you need to do to 100% every stage.
